Chinese Rites Controversy
A Prior Pastoral Experiment: The Chinese Rites Controversy
Christians in later periods adopted different strategies in regard to pre evangelisation ancestors, taking
seriously the cultures which had formed these beliefs: a simplistic rejection of their worldview was not
adopted. As we have seen, reflection of the Descent was one such example. Another is the Chinese
Rites controversy in which Jesuit missionaries to China permitted Chinese Christians to take part in
Confucian rituals relating to their departed ancestors It was not an isolated phenomenon at that time:
connections appear between these developments in China and others in the Americas (Vogeley 1997).
It is also a fine example of how a pastoral situation drove the quest to find ... Show more content on

Christian theologians adapted the Chinese three stages of revelation (Zurcher 1997). The end result
was the virtuous but unbaptised were considered to be saved.
This strategy was suppressed at the time and in the eighteenth century (Koepping 2007, 203 04; Lo
2003, 30 32), but later vindicated (Shorter 1988, 157 61). Part of the problem was that the strategy
adopted involved participation in the existing Confucian and ancestor rites, and was so judged
idolatrous (Lo 2003, 31; Rule 2009). Thus, to use more recent terminology, they were judged
examples of syncretism rather than inculturation (Bowie 1999, 68 70).
That said, the Chinese Rites strategy, developed for a Confucian context, cannot simply be applied to
other contexts. For one thing, it will import problems. The marriage of Christian theology and Chinese
metaphysics was not straightforward: at one level it appeared to suggest salvation could be achieved
without reference to the incarnation, and demanded un Chinese understandings of body, spirit and soul
be used (Zurcher 1997). On another, Ricci appeared to distort the Confucian classics in the search for
traces of a personal God (Wiest 1997,

The Role Of Women During The Era Of Tang Dynasty Of Chos ĹŽ N
The role of women has undergone numerous changes throughout the ages in South Korea, the most
palpable being those of 20th century due to industrialization. This essay aims to compare the role of
women nowadays with that of Confucian Chosŏn Dynasty and to explain how recent socio economic
changes influenced the development towards the current stratum of urban middle class housewives.
Also, it seeks to explain the stigma behind the development of this new layer of society.
Confucian Norms in Chosŏn Korea and Role of Women
The era of Yi dynasty of Chosŏn Korea (1392 1910) brought many changes to the social system. In the
aftermath of Hideyoshi invasions, Koreans found the traditional Confucian social norms destroyed and

This shows an extreme example of a woman who does not consider herself virtuous anymore after
being touched by a man other than her husband.
Yangban or the ruling class seemed to be following the Confucian codes of conduct more closely than
other classes. Yangban families were usually landowners; therefore yangban women would not usually
be engaged in any work outside of home. However, new Neo Confucian ideology demanded that
women stay confined at home, abiding by the adage men outside, women inside . Seclusion of female
line to women s chambers, referred to as anpang, enunciated further deepening of segregation of the
genders. Anpang, or the inner rooms of the house, were well hid from the sight from the street and
public.
The yangban status was fundamentally family oriented and the main purpose of a wife in family was
that of reproduction and serving the patrilineal family line. According to Confucian philosophy, three
obediences were required from a virtuous woman: to her father as a daughter, to her husband during
marriage and to her son once she reached old age. After marriage, women had to move to their in laws
houses and were not allowed activity outside home. Due to that, they fully engaged into their role of
wives and mothers. In order to fulfill this role, they had to be skilled in household management,
conducting ancestral rites and others. These were contained in several educational works, namely

Tchaikovsky. The director of the Hard Nut has not been original, as he has used the same music from
the original Nutcracker.
The video is a live recording.

The opening scene starts with three people on the stage dressed as young children, they have their
backs to the audience and are dressed in a black and white style, and the curtains are drawn.

runs off and tries fixing it she does eventually fix it and now owns the puppet. This makes her feel
really special as she is normally left out. She treats the doll with care and starts to dance with the
puppet. The family stop dancing and get in a crowd and begin to sing
Christmas songs whilst her brother is running round acting as a cowboy with his gun. The girl and
family find him quite annoying.
A man and women begin too dance and the oldest child who is very flirty and gets jealous easy wants
to dance with the man and tries to but the man is to involved in the other women. The love in the
scene grows and there are even signs of sex! The party soon finishes and everybody goes home and to
bed.
The children come down and start to route through the presents under the tree and start fighting. The
clock in the room disappears and the
Hard Nut face appears. Three small rats come onto the stage and crawl around, the young girl is the
only child left on the stage she starts to get scared. All of the settings on the stage are moved and the
girl is left on her own. The music changes as if it s building something up maybe fear.

Roman Weapons Research Paper
Since ancient times, weapons, armor and maneuverability have been a continual growing dynamic in
warfare. Armored units have invariably been a primary weapon of war. Beginning in prehistoric times,
sleds were used to move heavy objects. Later on, in the ancient middle east, horse drawn carts were
utilized to transport weapons. Chariots later evolved from those carts. The most developed horse
pulled chariots were lightweight, two wheeled, chariots and armored. Most chariots riders armed
themselves with archers or spear men; this concept was also used in the evolution of the modern day
tank. These chariots and their operators were the beginning of the what we know as the tank
today(Tucker 1 2). During the Roman period, protective armor was also developing. Siege engines,
which include battering rams, siege towers, and armored catapults were usually used when efforts
were made to take control of castles and/or fortified enemy positions. During the Roman Imperial and
Middle ages, these tank predecessors were protected by thick wooden boards all around. In the times
of knighthood, those engineering maneuvering weapons added iron and lighter weight steel. This was
partly in lue of the more frequent use of the crossbow and longbow; arrows ... Show more content on

builders started intertwining guns and mobile vehicles. During the fifteenth century the battle wagon
was considered a state of the art weapon. The battle wagon is most considered to be what twentieth
century tanks are modeled. There are two main battle wagons today s tanks resemble. The first was a
defensive vehicle constructed with protective sides and could house up to 18 men. The second was
smaller but armed with mounted cannons. Hundreds of these battlewagons were made during the

conducted radio checks, and prepared to leave our FOB we received an emergency call requesting
assistance. As we came across a bridge that we crossed almost daily, there was a hole the size of a

The first is the Alarm stage this is when the body initiate the body s fight or flight response, this
releases adrenaline and cortisol. During this phase your pulse rate is elevate, increasing blood flow to
the brain, prepares the muskoskeletal system to fight or run. The second phase is the resistance stage,
this is when the body s stress level has been reduced and the body commences to repair damaged
tissues, conversely in this stage we are easily more acceptable to injuries, and emotional weaknesses.
The third stage is the exhaustion stage, the body no longer has the ability to fight the stress, and this is
the point when the body is in stress overload. According to Wade Tavris, (2017) persistent stress
depletes the body of energy, thereby increasing vulnerability to physical problems and illness. (p.
396).
It has also been observed that our biological responses are short, these adaptive responses assit our
bodies in responding to stress. According to Wade Tavris, (2017) the hypothalmus initiates the fight or
flight response, releasing epinephren and norepinephren. The hypothalmus also activates the adrenal
glands to release cortisol.
Extended activation of the stress response can jeopardize our body s homeostasis, resulting in
dysregulation as well as a change in cortisol levels. Cortisol s has a direct influence on our immune
system leading to chronic

The Magna And Rousseau Theory Of The Social Contract
Magna Carta vs Rousseau
The Magna Carta and Rousseau theory of the social contract are both different and similar in many
ways. The Magna Carta protects a certain group of people. And the Rousseau theory of the social
contract is to protect everyone. But they also have a lot of similarities such as the fact that they both
put restrains on the government.
Magna Carta
The Magna Carta is a series of documents that represent an important step in the progression of
governance in western civilization. The foundation of the Magna Carta was that everybody including
the king was subjected to the law. This document defined and limited the federal rights of the
monarch. In spite of what the Magna Carta outlooks today, this document was not written with proud
ideas of justice and liberty in mind. It was initially meant as a peace treaty between king john and his
barons, with whom he was at war with. The barons had seized London and john found himself in a
political jumble, he need a swift way out solution. The document only covers the nobility, connected,
the land owners. So blacks, kids, women, and the poor was not covered by the Magna Carta. The
Magna Carta never accomplish its goal of producing peace. In datum it failed dramatically. Granting
john agreed to the Magna Carta at first, he swiftly became acrimonious when his terms were enforced
upon him. He transcribed a letter to the pope to get it null and void. The pope essentially happened to
come to an agreement with john, by

Inclusion Of Students With Disabilities
Abstract
Over (for) the past decade Inclusion in special education has been a controversial topic among
administration, teachers, and parents. Inclusion represents the belief that students with disabilities
should be integrated into the general education classroom whether or not they cannot meet traditional
curriculum standards. The purpose of the study is to examine the potential advantages and
disadvantages of inclusion of students with disabilities into the general education classroom. The
hypothesis is that students with disabilities can benefit from inclusion. The implications is that those
who favor inclusion believe that disabled students in the regular classroom will be more accepted by
their peers, (develop new friendships)have balanced relationships, and gain more academic knowledge
through small group and teacher instruction. This in turn, will result in continued higher achievement.
The survey consisted of demographic information, 26 Likert scale items and one comment section.
The surveys were disturbed to staff members, including special education and general education
teachers in one elementary school. Results of the survey were tabulated with frequencies and
percentages for each response reported.
Introduction and Literature Review
The number of students with disabilities being served in general education classes has steadily
increased over the last decade (U.S. Department of Education, 2006).

My Ancestors Research Paper
For the past 4 years I ve been tracing my ancestors. My family tree has been filling up with names and
information of people I never heard. I get excited every time I discover a new name, marriage,
children s, and their different jobs. I can trace two generations on my mother s side as my grandmother
didn t know much about her mother, however on her dad s side I went four generations. I discover an
interesting fact about my great grandpa. He has registered in the census of 1910 three families under
three different names. Oh yes, he uses his real name on my grandma s home, his middle name on a
second family, and his nickname in the third family. Now I understand why I have all this grandmas
and uncles when I was visiting with my mother her hometown.
On the other hands on my dad s family, it has been difficult to find his mother s side because he lost
his mother at a very young age. My dad lost communication with his dad. After his mother passed
away in childbirth, my dad who was two went to live with my grandpa s cousins. They loved and treat
my dad like their own child. I discovered a few months ago my dad s mother had a sister. She was in

Pills And Starships
Book Report: Pills and Starships by Lydia Millet Summary Pills and Starships, an intriguing novel by
Lydia Millet, shows a vividly imagined dystopian future in which the world is consumed in despair
and the unsustainable population is controlled by the government. Lydia Millet does a brilliant job in
fabricating a post apocalyptic, sinister form of Earth that s enveloped in toxic gas due to excessive
pollution and climate change. Migrations of whole cities of people to escape bad air quality are
constant, food and water are scarce, and people are forced to take pills to stabilize their emotions.
Many oppressive limitations are placed upon the remaining people by the government and
corporations, who forbid having children and even limit your right to take your own life or die. The
main characters, Nat and Sam, live in this horrific world. Their parents experienced the beauty of
Earth before global warming led to its deterioration, and being old, they couldn t bear the pain and
depression of such a drastic transition anymore. As a result, they purchased a death contract ... Show

In terms of pills , it refers to the mood pharms in the story, which are drugs that corporations distribute
to stabilize the emotions of the general population to avoid chaos and conflict. These mood pharms are
taken by Nat, Sam, and their parents one week before their death, allowing them to remain calm even
in agitating situations. Starships are not directly referenced in the book, but I m assuming that it
actually refers to me, the reader. This is very fascinating because as Nat writes in her journal, she
refers to the reader an astronaut who floats in space and observes their deteriorating planet from a
spaceship. As previously stated, Lydia Millet is a very creative author with and I m stunned at how she
managed to incorporate the reader into the story with such a vivid

The Outcome Of Two Major Railroad Strikes
Identify and describe the outcome of two major Railroad Strikes. The two major Railroad Strikes were
the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 and Railroad Shop workers Strike of 1922. The Great Railroad
Strike of 1877, was due to workers not being happy about the pay cuts that were being made by their
employer so often. Northern Railroads began cutting salaries and wages. Because of various railroads
cutting wages by 10% back to back, workers were not willing to continue working under those
conditions. Not only were the wages of the workers being cut, the amount work of work given to the
employees increased and the employer did not hire additional workers. This then caused railroad
employees to respond by taking control of the rail yard switches, and blocking movement of trains.
Throughout various cities such as Baltimore, Pittsburg, St. Louise, and Chicago, Violent acts began to
occur. Many people died throughout the cities. The strike cause the country s commerce to become
paralyzed and pushed governors in different states to utilize militia members to reopen rail traffic.
This action also helped set the stage for violence that would occur later in the 1880s and 1890s. The
Railroad Shop Workers Strike of 1922 affected everyone in the country. This strike occurred because
of the pay cut of seven cents to the wages of the railroad workers. Approximately 400,000 rail shop
workers from various unions were on strike because the cut was announced by the railroad labor
board. When

A Career Of A Pilot
A Career in The Clouds Since the beginning of time, flight is something that humans have tried to
master. Now that we have it figured out, it is considered a luxury. If you are a pilot, you will get to
experience this beautiful luxury regularly. As many people are, I have always been fascinated with the
idea of flying. Even when I was young I entertained the idea of becoming a pilot. I believe this is a job
that will challenge me and help me grow as a person. This paper will explore the job description,
requirements, and salary expectation for a pilot. First, a pilot s job description is very extensive.
Firstly, there are many general duties as a pilot. The Occupational Handbook mentions that even

There are also advantages such as the opportunity to see new places, your entire job will be to travel.
Depending on your specific job as a pilot, the pay is extremely good, which is always a plus to me. I
think the job in general and the work environment sound like they would fit me very well. I feel as
though I would work best and be most comfortable in a job where I work closely with only a few
people. I now know the extent of difficulty this job comes with, but luckily the most difficult aspect is
the schooling and not the job itself. In summary, there are many elements in the job description of a
pilot. Second, it is important to consider the educational and personal qualifications of being a pilot.
To begin, the Occupational Handbook describes what education requirements you need. To be a
commercial pilot you will need a high school diploma or the equivalent before you can even begin
training; in order to fly for an airline, you will need a bachelor s degree. As for pilot specific training
you will need six certificates: a Student Pilot Certificate, Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating,
Commercial Pilot License, Multi Engine Rating, and an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. Education
received through the military is also highly valued, but not necessary (OCO). Next, there are a few
available places to receive pilot training in Kansas. Spartan College notes that they have a 33 month
program to become an airline ready pilot. The Spartan

so first they are divided in Continental United States (CONUS) and Out of the Continental United
States (OCONUS). After this then comes the Branch Chiefs. These have specific territories to manage
which is normally a function to the military bases and/or operations that are occurring.
The Customer side has the same organizational structure as the supplier side, however, its core
responsibility is to deal with the customer, in other words with the requests, complaints, concerns of
the warfighters. Such as status of orders, expediting orders, new products requests, etc. Their
geographical territories do not necessary replicate or mirror the Supplier Side.
All five Directorates are tied by a common financial enterprise database called Enterprise Business

What areas of the value chain does your company focus on?
When evaluating the four core process such as Supplier Relationship, New Service /Product
Development, Order fulfillment and Customer Relationship, I conclude that the main focuses DLA
Troop Support has now are mainly in two of them. These are supplier relationship process and order
fulfillment process. This

The Problem Of Pet Overpopulation
I. Attention Getter: We all see them, those sad little faces that look up at us with their sad eyes. They
need homes and families that love them, they are stray animals.
II. Introduce Topic: Stray animals and pet overpopulation is a serious problem in today s society.
III. Relevance: Every person in this room will either own or come in contact with an animal. We need
to know how we can keep our own animals from contributing to the problem and other ways we can
help solve it.
IV. Credibility: I am a volunteer at one of the local humane societies, I see stray animals come in and

That is one every 13 seconds. Only 25 percent of animals in shelters get adopted.
b. Animals that enter shelters are either lost pets that don t have ID tags or microchips or stray and
feral animals who have never known the love of a human.
Transition: Now that we know what a problem animal overpopulation is, let s talk about how we can
help to solve this issue.
II. The best way we can help solve the issue is by getting our own pets spayed or neutered.
a. Spay is the term for female animals while neutering is used for male animals. Both are surgical
procedures to remove the reproductive organs of the animal. By performing these procedures, our pets
cannot contribute to the problem because they cannot reproduce. According to Northwest Spay and
Neuter, if every pet was fixed then the overpopulation problem would be fix in less than 10 years. If
we put it into these terms is it easier to understand: just one female dog and her puppies can result in
67,000 dogs in six years, and one female cat and her kittens can lead to 370,000 cats being born in
seven years.
b. There are several benefits to having your own pet spayed or neutered besides helping solve this
crisis. The benefits include reducing the risk of some of the most common types of cancers, making it
likelier for animals to live a longer and healthier life, and nixing aggression problems. This causes
animals mark their territory with strong scented urine. And contray to common

Emily Dickinson And The Village Blacksmith
The Village Blacksmith is a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. This poem is about an honest,
hardworking blacksmith who provides for his family by working long hours at the forge. And the
message of the poem is through your life you will eventually change the world by the things you do,
and you make your mark on the world by looking hard every day. There is a Certain Slant of Light is a
poem by Emily Dickinson. In the poem it describes the feeling of hurt and oppression ironically using
light as the instrument of hurting. Throughout this essay I will be explaining and going into detail of
the literary elements found in each individually, but also found in both of these poems. The Village
Blacksmith is a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The literary elements that i will be talking about are, enjambment, the theme of death and elision.
Firstly enjambment is seen more than once throughout the duration of the poem. Dickinson says,
Heavenly Hurt, it gives us/We can find no scar, (Dickinson, 5 6) during that part of the poem she uses
enjambment to create a dramatic pause, to show that it is not an actual physical scar, but a mental one
caused by, Heavenly Hurt . As with The Village Blacksmith, in A certain Slant of Light there us a
common theme of death throughout both. This theme is seen when Dickinson says, When it goes, tis
like the Distance/On the look of Death Dissimilar to the theme within The Village Blacksmith, the
message of the theme of death is different because of using death as an object rather than a process
that someone undergoes. Rather than using death as something that the blacksmith dealt with, A
certain Slant of Light personifies death as an entity that is being described as having a distant look.
Lastly, elision is the final literary technique i will be talking about. The quote i will be using to
demonstrate the use of elision says, Tis the seal Despair (Dickinson, 10) In this quote, the use of the
word Tis shows the use of elision by shortening and combining the words it and is . I think the reason
that Dickinson did this is because the use of shortened words was more common in the time period
when it was written. I believe that Emily Dickinson s use of literary devices was able to deliver
different messages, and things to think about while reading this

The Gun Laws And Banning The United States
Amar Redzepagic 10/3/15
The gun laws and bans in the United States are not helping to make things better or decrease our crime
rate or solve anything instead we need better background checks to make sure we are not giving guns
to the wrong people. A study published in the Harvard journal of law and public policy discovered that
the nations with more guns tend to have a lower crime rate (Snyder, Michael. N.p., 12 Aug. 2013.
Web. 26 Mar. 2015.). This proves that people tend not to commit a crime if they know that people
around them are armed and ready to fire also they know that if they go to a country with a lower
percentage of gun ownership they are not taking as much risk because there aren t that many guns in
the area.
Are all these bans and laws really necessary? The nine European nations with the lowest rate of gun
ownership have a murder rate that is three times higher than the nine European nations with the
highest rate of gun ownership (Snyder, Michael. N.p., 12 Aug. 2013. Web. 26 Mar. 2015), I think guns
are actually helping us, overall guns are used eighty times more to prevent crimes rather than used in
them. In the United States about 200,000 women protect themselves against sexual assault using guns
every year. (Snyder, Michael. N.p., 12 Aug. 2013. Web. 26 Mar. 2015). The city of Kennesaw,Georgia

A shark is a type fish that lives in the sea. It is one of the largest sea creatures. There are over 350
species. A shark is shaped like a torpedo. It has tough skin like sandpaper. Instead of bones it has
elastic cartilage which helps them to move easily. It can grow up to 8 meters. Sharks are found in all

Loie Fuller s Influence On American Dance
1. INTRODUCTION
Dance first. Think Later. It s the natural Order
Samuel Beckett.
With the onset of 20th century was the beginning of the modern dance. It was born in America due to
a reason of an agitation against the two forms of dance which has been prevailing for a long time,
vaudeville and ballet. Loie Fuller, Isadora Duncan, Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn were the
forerunners of modern dance in America. Each had a different way of being unique and representing
the art form of modern dance in his or her own way. Where Loie Fuller began experimenting with
effects of gas lighting on silk costumes, Isadora Duncan discarded the slippers and adapted a new kind
of dress form more of which will be discussed later and so on.

Striving towards Equal Right for the Disabled in Brunei
According to World Health Organization (WHO) disabled people have low health condition, poor
academic achievements, less economic opportunities and high level of poverty (2011). The Brunei
government is strongly committed to ensure that people with disabilities have equal rights in the
country (Mahmud, 2013). There are three improvements that need to be considered: Financial support,
improving awareness for the public and improving the infrastructure.
Financial capabilities are major factors to provide sufficient resources and comfortable place for the
disabled people. Expenses such as labour, salaries, medical, rent and transportation cost. SMARTER
(one of the autism facilities in Brunei run privately) is currently having a financial crisis in their
organization. Although SMARTER has received about half a million dollars of donation it is still not
sufficient to cater the $45,000 expenses per month (Amanda, 2014). The half a million of donation
obtained can only support SMARTER for 11 months maximum according to the monthly expenses
they stated. SMARTER relies on its own shop and donation from others such as banks and the
government. As stated the monthly expenses incurred by the company is $45,000 and to rely solely
through donations and a small shop will not solve the problem. Since the organization is a social
corporate company, which means that the company is not aiming for profits but to help the society, a
question will arise from this. Will it be better off managed

Holistic Healthcare
Holistic Healthcare How Should Nursing Support Patients Rights?
Healthcare treatments are no longer being determined by set protocols for a particular diagnosis or
disease process. Increasingly more common, individualized, patient driven adaptations are being
implemented to improve adherence and compliance with treatment. Society as a whole is changing.
The influx of immigrants, cultural variations, and increased interest in natural healing therapies within
the U.S., has fueled a growth in the use of natural and alternative medicine practices. Holistic
healthcare lends a unique facet in making these adaptations to medical care conceivable. Through
employing the unique relationship formed between nurses and patients collaboration in care, including
the use of complementary and alternative medicine practices (CAM), can be easily managed (Barnes,
Bloom, Nahin, 2008). This alliance among nurses and patients in appraising all options, including
CAM practices when appropriate, supports the patient s right to be informed in regards to their care

The Effects Of Parental Species On Aberrant Playback
While parental species responded more to conspecific songs than heterospecific songs, we found no
difference in the responses of parental species to aberrant playback. A previously mentioned study of
two closely related species of African doves found that birds showed more response to conspecific
vocalizations than to heterospecific playback, and found that response to hybrid vocalizations was
intermediate (den Hartog et al. 2007). While our results aren t statistically significant for intermediate
response, the trends do suggest that parental species respond with more vocalizations, and approach
the speaker closer to conspecific vocalizations. With a marginally significant result for BCCH

He found that responses of allopatric birds were determined by syllabic cues and not by the temporal
pattern of the song (Baker 1991). As these aberrant chickadee vocalizations may contain
characteristics of both parental song types (Enstrom and Bollinger 2009), we would expect some type
of response from, for example, a BCCH if an aberrant vocalization contained BCCH like elements
(e.g. slower song frequency, lower pitch interval, lower number of notes per song, etc.). It is possible
that response from parental species to these aberrant vocalizations also varies based on the structure of
the song being presented. The majority of the aberrant song types recorded in Illinois contain
introductory phrases that are similar to typical BCCH song. Perhaps most notably, the Greenville
dialect starts with a two note phrase that is similar in frequency to a typical BCCH song (Enstrom and
Bollinger 2009). However, the phrase duration is shorter and more similar to a typical CACH song.
With aberrant vocalizations containing elements of both parental song types, a parental bird could be
responding to a particular phrase or other element within the song which elicits a response similar to a
true conspecific song. Further investigation would be necessary to compare responses from partial
songs or from playbacks that have been manipulated to express different song characteristics.
As expected, our results indicate that

Persuasive Essay On Cyberbullying
The twenty first century has held endless opportunities for people to explore and grow. It has brought
a developed internet, various forms of social media, and easier ways to communicate. People can now
search the web for things to buy, places to go, or sights to see. There are posts to comment on, places
to swipe right, and kitten videos to watch. There are also algorithms to record someone s key strokes,
programs to steal credit card information, and websites for sexual predators to attract their prey.
Although the internet has many great or positive uses, it also brings many awful, twisted people to the
table. No matter the form of these negative attacks, they can all be categorized as one thing:
cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying has become a very real and serious issue in the twenty first century. Many people want
to sugar coat these issues for what they truly are, but in reality, the internet is a never ending hole of
scams and hurtful posts. Cyberbullying can lead to the victim suffering with depression, anxiety, or
suicidal thoughts and actions. With consequences like these, steps need to be taken to reduce and
completely stop cyberbullying.
The importance of ending cyberbullying does not stop at the consequences it holds for the victims, but
because it does not occur to one specific group. Cyberbullying can happen to young children trying to
play their favorite computer game. A side pop up could appear from a stranger who wants to give the

Stereotypes, Prejudice And Discrimination
The world is filed with different cultures races and ethnicities all with different beliefs and mannerism.
Often these differences lead to conflicts of opinions and feelings and this can lead to cultures

Disadvantages Of Food Processing Industry
The food handling industry is one of the most delicate industries in the world. Some food processing
industries include cannery, fish processing industry, sugar industry, meat packing plant and slaughter
house among other. The main purpose of such industries is to ensure that consumers get food that is in
good condition thereby avoid any food related illness. Usually, these industries employ the use of
preservatives methods to increase their shelf life so that consumers get these products while still fresh.
The industry changes raw food materials into products that may be easily prepared by consumers. This
industry also provides a market for large scale farmers to sell their products, thus earning the farmers
income in return. This paper will help one understand the importance of such industries to the
economy of any country. Although they are essential, these industries also have their downsides. The
paper will also look at some of the downsides of such industries. To conclude, it will help one take a
stand as to whether the industry is essential or a destruction of human life.
The main purpose of food processing industry is to increase the value of crops. Certain crops cannot
be consumed as they are, straight from the farm. An example of such crops includes coffee, tea, wheat
and tobacco among others. In their raw form, these products cannot be consumed by a human. They
need to undergo processing so that may be of use to man. The food processing industry then comes in.

knowledge of some of the individuals that you may communicate with, and your daily appointments

Microsoft has always been the leading solution to some of our work and office electronically related
issues, it also provides alternative solutions (Heater, 2006). The aspect of personal information
manager revolves around the Microsoft Outlook calendar and task managing options (Heater,

could have more opportunities to assess my students and give them prompt feedback as well. I could

more challenging work depending on their capabilities. For students that finish their work early but
need more remediation, I could pull them to the side and provide one on one instruction to correct
misunderstanding right then.
Examining my teaching, I notice that I was lacking in cooperation among my students. I did ask my
students a few higher order thinking questions, but I monopolized the introduction activity with my

How to Classify Toxicants
In essence, toxicology is the science of poison, toxicants, or toxins. A poison toxicant, or toxic is a
substance capable of causing harm when administered to an organism. Harm is defined as seriously
injuring or causing the death of an organism. The term toxicant can be a synonym for poison, or the
term poison might be appropriate for the most potent substances. The term toxin usually refers to a
poison derived from a protein or conjugated protein produced by some higher plant, animal, or
pathogenic bacteria that is highly poisonous for other living organism. Food toxicology deals with
substances found in food that might be harmful to those who consume sufficient quantities of the food
containing such substances. Toxicants can be classified according to five categories. First category is
based on their chemical structure, for example, aromatic amines (aniline), halogenated hydrocarbons
(PCBs, and methylene chloride). Second category is based on their usage such as pesticides (atrazine),
solvents (benzene) and food additives (saccharin). Other category is according to their physical state
like gases (carbon monoxide), liquids (methanol) and solids (asbestos). Besides that toxicants also
classified based on their toxic effect like mutagens (diethylnitrosamine), and hepatotoxins
(chloroform). Lastly, toxicants are classified based on their biochemical mechanism of a toxic effect
such as cholinesterase inhibitors (malathion) and methemoglobin forming substances (nitrite). Food

Religion in James Joyce s Dubliners Essay
Religion in James Joyce s Dubliners Religion was an integral part of Ireland during the modernist
period, tightly woven into the social fabric of its citizens. The Catholic Church was a longstanding

This is mainly due to the fact that both adhere to a certain agreed ideas of how people should act. The
majority of any given population makes decisions on a daily basis using both law and religion to guide
their actions. However, when matters of fairness and equity are questioned the government must make
an adhered to ruling. In the story The Boarding House , Joyce presents us with an image of Ireland
where religion is the governing force in determining equitable situations. This is clearly apparent
when Mrs. Mooney experiences trouble with her marriage and seeks a separation. This situation is
described as, She went to the priest and got a separation from him with care of the children (72). For
most societies a situation like this would fall under the category of civil law, and be decided in a court
of law. The fact that Mrs. Mooney went to the priest to solve a domestic dispute, and not to an
attorney shows that the citizens of Ireland regarded the church as the head figure of Ireland. Anytime
that the ruling authority of a country is anything other than its own constitution, the only outcome is a
constricted and less prosperous society. This is evident in emerging countries where two or more

A Review of Therapists Integration of Religion and...
Summary
In this meta analysis of integration of spirituality and religion in the counseling field, the authors seek
to understand the skills and attitudes needed to integrate these variables into counseling. Among those
that were studied are awareness of one s own culture and heritage, respect for the diversity found in
people concerning spirituality and religion and recognition of one s helping style and how it may be
perceived by clients (Walker, Gorsuch, Tan, 2004).
A difficulty that has occurred commonly is that a definition of spirituality cannot be agreed on. In a
broad explanation of both religion as well as spirituality, religion constitutes the organization of faith,
implementing prayer, ministry and theology. Spirituality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An explanation of use of correlation studies in meta analysis explains that often by doing so is to
create conservative estimates or a down ward bias. This means that statistics presented in this meta
analysis may actually be higher than actual calculations prove.
Inquiries that seemed relevant for this study included personal religious and spiritual beliefs of
therapists, how therapists use their personal religious and spiritual beliefs in their use of explicit
integration therapies, and comparison in samples that encompassed explicit integration therapists with
samples that mixed secular and religious therapists as well as diverse professional backgrounds that
may lead to more or less acceptance of various cultures (Walker et al., 2004, p. 72). These queries
touch on the various cultures, religions, beliefs and ideologies that encompass the United States and
how important it is for psychologists and counselors to have proper training when using religion and
spirituality in order to acknowledge and respect all philosophies.
Reflection
This article states that 90% of Americans claim a Protestant or Catholic religious affiliation (Walker et
al., 2004, p. 70). While not all Americans attend an organized church or practice Christian rituals such
as prayer or reading the Bible at any given time, spirituality is very much an influence in our country.

The Effects Of Living At Walden Essay
In 1854, Henry David Thoreau gave us what would become his most famous non fiction book,
Walden; or life in the Woods. In this, Thoreau describes his project at Walden Pond near Concord,
Massachusetts. Thoreau decided that he was going to live deliberately in the woods for over two years
and live off of a limited economy and isolate himself from society in order to gain a more objective
understanding of it. But one has to ask the question, what does Thoreau mean that he wants to live
deliberately ? Thoreau himself said that he wanted to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts
of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I
had not lived. (Thoreau, 61) He wanted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole bank, which is from twenty to forty feet high, is sometimes overlaid with a mass of this
kind of foliage, or sandy rupture, for a quarter of a mile on one or both sides, the produce of one
spring day. What makes this sand foliage remarkable is its springing into existence thus suddenly.
When I see on the one side the inert bank, for the sun acts on one side first, and on the other this
luxuriant foliage, the creation of an hour, I am affected as if in a peculiar sense I stood in the
laboratory of the Artist who made the world and me, had come to where he was still at work, sporting
on this bank, and with excess of energy strewing his fresh designs about. I feel as if I were nearer to
the vitals of the globe, for this sandy overflow is something such a foliaceous mass as the vitals of the
animal body. You find thus in the very sands an anticipation of the vegetable leaf. No wonder that the
earth expresses itself outwardly in leaves, it so labors with the idea inwardly. The atoms have already
learned this law, and are pregnant by it. The overhanging leaf sees here its prototype. Internally,
whether in the globe or animal body, it is a moist thick lobe, a word especially applicable to the liver
and lungs and the leaves of fat. (*****, labor, lapsus, to flow or slip downward, a lapsing; *****,
globus, lobe, globe; also lap, flap, and many other words); externally, a

Essay on Lady Macbeth
Discuss whether or not you feel sympathy for Lady Macbeth
There are certain aspects of Lady Macbeth s character that suggests she is good and therefore her
downfall increases my sympathy for her by the end of act 5. But I would also argue that she entailed
evil to fuel her sleeping ambition that would make her nemesis, her mental collapse, fully justified.
Lady Macbeth s role as a supporting wife at the start of the play exceeds the duties of a normal wife.
She is the Eve to Macbeth s Adam and is tempted. Although Macbeth hints at the idea of taking the
crown in his letter home, it is Lady Macbeth s ruthless determination to make him king that persuaded
him to murder Duncan. Did she do this in the interests of Macbeth or was it ... Show more content on

Although I have expressed unsympathetic views about Lady Macbeth, I do feel that a certain amount
of sympathy arises from Act 5 Scene 1, which tends to hide her previous evil deeds. Lady Macbeth
has not been seen by the audience for some time, this is because Macbeth has shut her out of his life
and she has become isolated and lonely. Lady Macbeth s mental collapse is caused by her
acknowledgement of her share of guilt and is expressed by images of Duncan s blood, ...will these
hands ne er be clean?...
This is also a contrast to her belief that water cleanses the conscience of any guilt. Lady Macbeth s
mental collapse reinforces the idea of Scotland being diseased under Macbeth s reign and because he
was not put their by divine right he cannot cure her.
Lady Macbeth s role as a supporting wife resurfaces again in scene 5. She is now afraid of the dark,
which is in contrasts to her earlier wishes for darkness to conceal the murder. Lady Macbeth is
haunted by dreams, like Macbeth ( ...O full of scorpions is in my mind... ), and sleep walks; this
echoes my last sentence in that she is now taking on the trauma and guilt from her husband. This
reveals Lady Macbeth s compassion and love for her husband

How Do Copper Wires Wrap Around The Nail Affect The...
How can the times of the copper wire wrapped around the nail would affect the strength of the
magnet? Hypothesis My hypothesis for this experiment is that the more copper is wrap around the nail
the stronger will eventually be and the more heavy things can hold and lift . Also the thickness of the
wire will affect the strength. The amount of space you leave between each loop could also affect the
the strength and the time the the nail would hold the metal objects. Background research The purpose
of this experiment is to prove if the number of wires wrap around the nail will affect the strength of
magnetism. The electromagnets are used in many household items. Electromagnets are Magnets when
they have electricity running through them, but they are not regular magnets because electromagnets
can be turned on and off, so when when electricity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This were all the materials I used to complete the experiment. First I hold the 2 nails and I wrapped
the copper wire on both of them. In one of them I wrap the copper wire 5 times a round the nail and I
left a little space in between each loop. Than I decide to coil the wire 15 times around the same nail
with almost no space in between them. At the end of each time i wrapped the nail with the loops I left
some wire so that I was able to hook it up to the battery. The wire that was left out, I folded it so it
could be able to hold on to the battery, positive and negative. The positive was the flat head of the nail
and the negative was the pointy bottom of the nail. The type of battery that i used was a D battery. By
putting the nail wrap with copper wire into the battery it started creating magnetism. When they made
contact the wire and the battery got hot so i had to use the cloth. After this the small magnetic objects
were getting attached to the

Raskolikov s Theory In Crime And Punishment
Dostoevsky s novel Crime and Punishment analyzes a provocative theory constructed by the main
character, Raskolnikov. His theory divides ordinary and extraordinary people. According to
Raskolnikov, ordinary people have no opinion of their own, being just mere followers, while
extraordinary people craft new opinions for the society. Extraordinary people are prone to greatness,
being therefore justified to act in any way in order to achieve it, even if it means to kill or steal. An
interesting example Raskolnikov makes is:
the lawgivers and founders of mankind, starting from the most ancient and going on to the
Lycurguses, the Solons, the Muhammads, the Napoleons, and so forth, all of them to a man were
criminals, from the fact alone that in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory can also be applied to Patrick SUskind s novel Perfume, more precisely to the main
character, Grenouille. Ironically, if Raskolnikov was not able to live up to his own theory and prove to
be an extraordinary individual, Grenouille becomes one without realizing it. I will further on expand
my argument by investigating Grenouille s motive, technique of conducting the killings and his
relation to guilt.
Grenouille s unique gift allows him to understand the world in a way that no one else can. He never
forgets a scent by labeling them in his palace of odor and by constantly combining them in the most
beautiful ways. Moreover, he knows that attraction is based on scent ... this scent will be ripened and
take on a gravity that no one, man or woman, will be able to escape. People will be overwhelmed,
disarmed, helpless before the magic of this girl, and they will not know why (Suskind 171).
Grenouille s motive of committing all those crimes is concentrated around a superior idea, a great one:
creating the most extraordinary perfume in the world, a perfume that will allow him to rule mankind
by combining the scents of the most exquisite

  • 2. Chinese Rites Controversy A Prior Pastoral Experiment: The Chinese Rites Controversy Christians in later periods adopted different strategies in regard to pre evangelisation ancestors, taking seriously the cultures which had formed these beliefs: a simplistic rejection of their worldview was not adopted. As we have seen, reflection of the Descent was one such example. Another is the Chinese Rites controversy in which Jesuit missionaries to China permitted Chinese Christians to take part in Confucian rituals relating to their departed ancestors It was not an isolated phenomenon at that time: connections appear between these developments in China and others in the Americas (Vogeley 1997). It is also a fine example of how a pastoral situation drove the quest to find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christian theologians adapted the Chinese three stages of revelation (Zurcher 1997). The end result was the virtuous but unbaptised were considered to be saved. This strategy was suppressed at the time and in the eighteenth century (Koepping 2007, 203 04; Lo 2003, 30 32), but later vindicated (Shorter 1988, 157 61). Part of the problem was that the strategy adopted involved participation in the existing Confucian and ancestor rites, and was so judged idolatrous (Lo 2003, 31; Rule 2009). Thus, to use more recent terminology, they were judged examples of syncretism rather than inculturation (Bowie 1999, 68 70). That said, the Chinese Rites strategy, developed for a Confucian context, cannot simply be applied to other contexts. For one thing, it will import problems. The marriage of Christian theology and Chinese metaphysics was not straightforward: at one level it appeared to suggest salvation could be achieved without reference to the incarnation, and demanded un Chinese understandings of body, spirit and soul be used (Zurcher 1997). On another, Ricci appeared to distort the Confucian classics in the search for traces of a personal God (Wiest 1997, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role Of Women During The Era Of Tang Dynasty Of Chos ĹŽ N The role of women has undergone numerous changes throughout the ages in South Korea, the most palpable being those of 20th century due to industrialization. This essay aims to compare the role of women nowadays with that of Confucian Chosŏn Dynasty and to explain how recent socio economic changes influenced the development towards the current stratum of urban middle class housewives. Also, it seeks to explain the stigma behind the development of this new layer of society. Confucian Norms in Chosŏn Korea and Role of Women The era of Yi dynasty of Chosŏn Korea (1392 1910) brought many changes to the social system. In the aftermath of Hideyoshi invasions, Koreans found the traditional Confucian social norms destroyed and in an urgent need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows an extreme example of a woman who does not consider herself virtuous anymore after being touched by a man other than her husband. Yangban or the ruling class seemed to be following the Confucian codes of conduct more closely than other classes. Yangban families were usually landowners; therefore yangban women would not usually be engaged in any work outside of home. However, new Neo Confucian ideology demanded that women stay confined at home, abiding by the adage men outside, women inside . Seclusion of female line to women s chambers, referred to as anpang, enunciated further deepening of segregation of the genders. Anpang, or the inner rooms of the house, were well hid from the sight from the street and public. The yangban status was fundamentally family oriented and the main purpose of a wife in family was that of reproduction and serving the patrilineal family line. According to Confucian philosophy, three obediences were required from a virtuous woman: to her father as a daughter, to her husband during marriage and to her son once she reached old age. After marriage, women had to move to their in laws houses and were not allowed activity outside home. Due to that, they fully engaged into their role of wives and mothers. In order to fulfill this role, they had to be skilled in household management, conducting ancestral rites and others. • 5. Roman Weapons Research Paper Since ancient times, weapons, armor and maneuverability have been a continual growing dynamic in warfare. Armored units have invariably been a primary weapon of war. Beginning in prehistoric times, sleds were used to move heavy objects. Later on, in the ancient middle east, horse drawn carts were utilized to transport weapons. Chariots later evolved from those carts. The most developed horse pulled chariots were lightweight, two wheeled, chariots and armored. Most chariots riders armed themselves with archers or spear men; this concept was also used in the evolution of the modern day tank. These chariots and their operators were the beginning of the what we know as the tank today(Tucker 1 2). During the Roman period, protective armor was also developing. Siege engines, which include battering rams, siege towers, and armored catapults were usually used when efforts were made to take control of castles and/or fortified enemy positions. During the Roman Imperial and Middle ages, these tank predecessors were protected by thick wooden boards all around. In the times of knighthood, those engineering maneuvering weapons added iron and lighter weight steel. This was partly in lue of the more frequent use of the crossbow and longbow; arrows ... The Magna Carta protects a certain group of people. And the Rousseau theory of the social contract is to protect everyone. But they also have a lot of similarities such as the fact that they both put restrains on the government. Magna Carta The Magna Carta is a series of documents that represent an important step in the progression of governance in western civilization. The foundation of the Magna Carta was that everybody including the king was subjected to the law. This document defined and limited the federal rights of the monarch. In spite of what the Magna Carta outlooks today, this document was not written with proud ideas of justice and liberty in mind. It was initially meant as a peace treaty between king john and his barons, with whom he was at war with. The barons had seized London and john found himself in a political jumble, he need a swift way out solution. The document only covers the nobility, connected, the land owners. So blacks, kids, women, and the poor was not covered by the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta never accomplish its goal of producing peace. In datum it failed dramatically. Inclusion represents the belief that students with disabilities should be integrated into the general education classroom whether or not they cannot meet traditional curriculum standards. The purpose of the study is to examine the potential advantages and disadvantages of inclusion of students with disabilities into the general education classroom. The hypothesis is that students with disabilities can benefit from inclusion. The implications is that those who favor inclusion believe that disabled students in the regular classroom will be more accepted by their peers, (develop new friendships)have balanced relationships, and gain more academic knowledge through small group and teacher instruction. This in turn, will result in continued higher achievement. The survey consisted of demographic information, 26 Likert scale items and one comment section. The surveys were disturbed to staff members, including special education and general education teachers in one elementary school. Results of the survey were tabulated with frequencies and percentages for each response reported. Pills And Starships Book Report: Pills and Starships by Lydia Millet Summary Pills and Starships, an intriguing novel by Lydia Millet, shows a vividly imagined dystopian future in which the world is consumed in despair and the unsustainable population is controlled by the government. Migrations of whole cities of people to escape bad air quality are constant, food and water are scarce, and people are forced to take pills to stabilize their emotions. Many oppressive limitations are placed upon the remaining people by the government and corporations, who forbid having children and even limit your right to take your own life or die. • 11. The Outcome Of Two Major Railroad Strikes Identify and describe the outcome of two major Railroad Strikes. The two major Railroad Strikes were the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 and Railroad Shop workers Strike of 1922. The Great Railroad Strike of 1877, was due to workers not being happy about the pay cuts that were being made by their employer so often. Northern Railroads began cutting salaries and wages. Because of various railroads cutting wages by 10% back to back, workers were not willing to continue working under those conditions. Not only were the wages of the workers being cut, the amount work of work given to the employees increased and the employer did not hire additional workers. This then caused railroad employees to respond by taking control of the rail yard switches, and blocking movement of trains. Throughout various cities such as Baltimore, Pittsburg, St. Louise, and Chicago, Violent acts began to occur. Many people died throughout the cities. The strike cause the country s commerce to become paralyzed and pushed governors in different states to utilize militia members to reopen rail traffic. This action also helped set the stage for violence that would occur later in the 1880s and 1890s. The Railroad Shop Workers Strike of 1922 affected everyone in the country. This strike occurred because of the pay cut of seven cents to the wages of the railroad workers. Approximately 400,000 rail shop workers from various unions were on strike because the cut was announced by the railroad labor board. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Transition: Now that we know what a problem animal overpopulation is, let s talk about how we can help to solve this issue. II. The best way we can help solve the issue is by getting our own pets spayed or neutered. a. Spay is the term for female animals while neutering is used for male animals. Both are surgical procedures to remove the reproductive organs of the animal. By performing these procedures, our pets cannot contribute to the problem because they cannot reproduce. According to Northwest Spay and Neuter, if every pet was fixed then the overpopulation problem would be fix in less than 10 years. If we put it into these terms is it easier to understand: just one female dog and her puppies can result in 67,000 dogs in six years, and one female cat and her kittens can lead to 370,000 cats being born in seven years. b. There are several benefits to having your own pet spayed or neutered besides helping solve this crisis. The Village Blacksmith is a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The literary elements that i will be talking about are, enjambment, the theme of death and elision. Firstly enjambment is seen more than once throughout the duration of the poem. Dickinson says, Heavenly Hurt, it gives us/We can find no scar, (Dickinson, 5 6) during that part of the poem she uses enjambment to create a dramatic pause, to show that it is not an actual physical scar, but a mental one caused by, Heavenly Hurt . As with The Village Blacksmith, in A certain Slant of Light there us a common theme of death throughout both. This theme is seen when Dickinson says, When it goes, tis like the Distance/On the look of Death Dissimilar to the theme within The Village Blacksmith, the message of the theme of death is different because of using death as an object rather than a process that someone undergoes. Rather than using death as something that the blacksmith dealt with, A certain Slant of Light personifies death as an entity that is being described as having a distant look. Lastly, elision is the final literary technique i will be talking about. The quote i will be using to demonstrate the use of elision says, Tis the seal Despair (Dickinson, 10) In this quote, the use of the word Tis shows the use of elision by shortening and combining the words it and is . I think the reason that Dickinson did this is because the use of shortened words was more common in the time period when it was written. • 17. The Gun Laws And Banning The United States Amar Redzepagic 10/3/15 The gun laws and bans in the United States are not helping to make things better or decrease our crime rate or solve anything instead we need better background checks to make sure we are not giving guns to the wrong people. A study published in the Harvard journal of law and public policy discovered that the nations with more guns tend to have a lower crime rate (Snyder, Michael. N.p., 12 Aug. 2013. Web. 26 Mar. 2015.). This proves that people tend not to commit a crime if they know that people around them are armed and ready to fire also they know that if they go to a country with a lower percentage of gun ownership they are not taking as much risk because there aren t that many guns in the area. Are all these bans and laws really necessary? As these aberrant chickadee vocalizations may contain characteristics of both parental song types (Enstrom and Bollinger 2009), we would expect some type of response from, for example, a BCCH if an aberrant vocalization contained BCCH like elements (e.g. slower song frequency, lower pitch interval, lower number of notes per song, etc.). It is possible that response from parental species to these aberrant vocalizations also varies based on the structure of the song being presented. The majority of the aberrant song types recorded in Illinois contain introductory phrases that are similar to typical BCCH song. Perhaps most notably, the Greenville dialect starts with a two note phrase that is similar in frequency to a typical BCCH song (Enstrom and Bollinger 2009). However, the phrase duration is shorter and more similar to a typical CACH song. With aberrant vocalizations containing elements of both parental song types, a parental bird could be responding to a particular phrase or other element within the song which elicits a response similar to a true conspecific song. When a religion is the head of state for a country, the actions of its people are subjected to moral and ethical beliefs. This is unfair in concept, due to the fact not all citizens of a ... • 39. A Review of Therapists Integration of Religion and... Summary In this meta analysis of integration of spirituality and religion in the counseling field, the authors seek to understand the skills and attitudes needed to integrate these variables into counseling. Among those that were studied are awareness of one s own culture and heritage, respect for the diversity found in people concerning spirituality and religion and recognition of one s helping style and how it may be perceived by clients (Walker, Gorsuch, Tan, 2004). A difficulty that has occurred commonly is that a definition of spirituality cannot be agreed on. In a broad explanation of both religion as well as spirituality, religion constitutes the organization of faith, implementing prayer, ministry and theology. Spirituality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An explanation of use of correlation studies in meta analysis explains that often by doing so is to create conservative estimates or a down ward bias. This means that statistics presented in this meta analysis may actually be higher than actual calculations prove. Inquiries that seemed relevant for this study included personal religious and spiritual beliefs of therapists, how therapists use their personal religious and spiritual beliefs in their use of explicit integration therapies, and comparison in samples that encompassed explicit integration therapists with samples that mixed secular and religious therapists as well as diverse professional backgrounds that may lead to more or less acceptance of various cultures (Walker et al., 2004, p. 72). These queries touch on the various cultures, religions, beliefs and ideologies that encompass the United States and how important it is for psychologists and counselors to have proper training when using religion and spirituality in order to acknowledge and respect all philosophies. Reflection This article states that 90% of Americans claim a Protestant or Catholic religious affiliation (Walker et al., 2004, p. 70). While not all Americans attend an organized church or practice Christian rituals such as prayer or reading the Bible at any given time, spirituality is very much an influence in our country. • 40. The Effects Of Living At Walden Essay In 1854, Henry David Thoreau gave us what would become his most famous non fiction book, Walden; or life in the Woods. In this, Thoreau describes his project at Walden Pond near Concord, Massachusetts. Thoreau decided that he was going to live deliberately in the woods for over two years and live off of a limited economy and isolate himself from society in order to gain a more objective understanding of it. But one has to ask the question, what does Thoreau mean that he wants to live deliberately ? Thoreau himself said that he wanted to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. (Thoreau, 61) He wanted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whole bank, which is from twenty to forty feet high, is sometimes overlaid with a mass of this kind of foliage, or sandy rupture, for a quarter of a mile on one or both sides, the produce of one spring day. What makes this sand foliage remarkable is its springing into existence thus suddenly. When I see on the one side the inert bank, for the sun acts on one side first, and on the other this luxuriant foliage, the creation of an hour, I am affected as if in a peculiar sense I stood in the laboratory of the Artist who made the world and me, had come to where he was still at work, sporting on this bank, and with excess of energy strewing his fresh designs about. I feel as if I were nearer to the vitals of the globe, for this sandy overflow is something such a foliaceous mass as the vitals of the animal body. You find thus in the very sands an anticipation of the vegetable leaf. No wonder that the earth expresses itself outwardly in leaves, it so labors with the idea inwardly. The atoms have already learned this law, and are pregnant by it. The overhanging leaf sees here its prototype. Internally, whether in the globe or animal body, it is a moist thick lobe, a word especially applicable to the liver and lungs and the leaves of fat. • 41. Essay on Lady Macbeth Discuss whether or not you feel sympathy for Lady Macbeth There are certain aspects of Lady Macbeth s character that suggests she is good and therefore her downfall increases my sympathy for her by the end of act 5. But I would also argue that she entailed evil to fuel her sleeping ambition that would make her nemesis, her mental collapse, fully justified. Lady Macbeth s role as a supporting wife at the start of the play exceeds the duties of a normal wife. She is the Eve to Macbeth s Adam and is tempted. Although Macbeth hints at the idea of taking the crown in his letter home, it is Lady Macbeth s ruthless determination to make him king that persuaded him to murder Duncan. Did she do this in the interests of Macbeth or was it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although I have expressed unsympathetic views about Lady Macbeth, I do feel that a certain amount of sympathy arises from Act 5 Scene 1, which tends to hide her previous evil deeds. Lady Macbeth has not been seen by the audience for some time, this is because Macbeth has shut her out of his life and she has become isolated and lonely. Lady Macbeth s mental collapse is caused by her acknowledgement of her share of guilt and is expressed by images of Duncan s blood, ...will these hands ne er be clean?... This is also a contrast to her belief that water cleanses the conscience of any guilt. Lady Macbeth s mental collapse reinforces the idea of Scotland being diseased under Macbeth s reign and because he was not put their by divine right he cannot cure her. Lady Macbeth s role as a supporting wife resurfaces again in scene 5. She is now afraid of the dark, which is in contrasts to her earlier wishes for darkness to conceal the murder. Lady Macbeth is haunted by dreams, like Macbeth ( ...O full of scorpions is in my mind... ), and sleep walks; this echoes my last sentence in that she is now taking on the trauma and guilt from her husband. This reveals Lady Macbeth s compassion and love for her husband ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. How Do Copper Wires Wrap Around The Nail Affect The... How can the times of the copper wire wrapped around the nail would affect the strength of the magnet? Hypothesis My hypothesis for this experiment is that the more copper is wrap around the nail the stronger will eventually be and the more heavy things can hold and lift . Also the thickness of the wire will affect the strength. The amount of space you leave between each loop could also affect the the strength and the time the the nail would hold the metal objects. Background research The purpose of this experiment is to prove if the number of wires wrap around the nail will affect the strength of magnetism. The electromagnets are used in many household items. Electromagnets are Magnets when they have electricity running through them, but they are not regular magnets because electromagnets can be turned on and off, so when when electricity ... In one of them I wrap the copper wire 5 times a round the nail and I left a little space in between each loop. Than I decide to coil the wire 15 times around the same nail with almost no space in between them. At the end of each time i wrapped the nail with the loops I left some wire so that I was able to hook it up to the battery. The wire that was left out, I folded it so it could be able to hold on to the battery, positive and negative. The positive was the flat head of the nail and the negative was the pointy bottom of the nail. The type of battery that i used was a D battery. By putting the nail wrap with copper wire into the battery it started creating magnetism. When they made contact the wire and the battery got hot so i had to use the cloth. After this the small magnetic objects were getting attached to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Raskolikov s Theory In Crime And Punishment Dostoevsky s novel Crime and Punishment analyzes a provocative theory constructed by the main character, Raskolnikov. His theory divides ordinary and extraordinary people. According to Raskolnikov, ordinary people have no opinion of their own, being just mere followers, while extraordinary people craft new opinions for the society. Extraordinary people are prone to greatness, being therefore justified to act in any way in order to achieve it, even if it means to kill or steal. An interesting example Raskolnikov makes is: the lawgivers and founders of mankind, starting from the most ancient and going on to the Lycurguses, the Solons, the Muhammads, the Napoleons, and so forth, all of them to a man were criminals, from the fact alone that in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This theory can also be applied to Patrick SUskind s novel Perfume, more precisely to the main character, Grenouille. Ironically, if Raskolnikov was not able to live up to his own theory and prove to be an extraordinary individual, Grenouille becomes one without realizing it. I will further on expand my argument by investigating Grenouille s motive, technique of conducting the killings and his relation to guilt. Grenouille s unique gift allows him to understand the world in a way that no one else can. He never forgets a scent by labeling them in his palace of odor and by constantly combining them in the most beautiful ways. Moreover, he knows that attraction is based on scent ... this scent will be ripened and take on a gravity that no one, man or woman, will be able to escape. People will be overwhelmed, disarmed, helpless before the magic of this girl, and they will not know why (Suskind 171). Grenouille s motive of committing all those crimes is concentrated around a superior idea, a great one: creating the most extraordinary perfume in the world, a perfume that will allow him to rule mankind by combining the scents of the most exquisite ...
