Cyber Crime
Cyber Crime... this type of Crime is being more common in today s world as advancements with
technology have now come and will continue to bring changes. The society as a whole should have
worries about crimes being committed within the internet, the crimes are increasing and if nothing
is done to prevent them, and then they will not stop. More and more people each day are becoming
more accustomed to the use of technology. Such advancement are leading to more crime online.

In the article Sadler went on to talk about how people usually let their guard down when they are
behind their smartphones people will open anything they get such as a text or email without
hesitation. Smartphone companies should improve security and should be able to spot fakes and
deal with them accordingly. People with iPhone s are being targeted directly. The scam is
someone who is impersonating to be an Apple employee and is trying to convince the person they
have a breach on their phone and in order to deal with the problem they will need to go to this
website and put down information to verify. Emails with a link that is asking for your Apple ID,
personal information, and payment information. Some emails that have a link attached with it also
can grant access to a hacker to your smartphone or computer and they can then access just about
anything that you had put down on your computer. (Sadler)
In 2009 Greenhaven Press published the book Cyber Crime . Bruce Schneier talked about whether
a software company should be liable for the security breaches. Security breaches are starting to
become more and more common. The issue is often argued to be because of manufactures poorly
making products on purpose. In certain aspects people would be favoring secure products over
insecure but it seems they do not due to software monopolies limiting the choices they have by only
making things up to the latest compatibilities with certain product and other companies not

Weight Loss Myths
Have you been exercising and dieting and still you don t get the desired results? Well you must
have fallen victim of bad advise that is in the internet concerning weight loss. Some are unproven
methods or literally proven not to work. Here are some common myths.
All calories are the same. Different foods go through a different metabolism pathway therefore
have different effect on hunger and hormones that regulate body weight. Calories found in refined
foods are less filling and require one to eat more leading to weight gain while calories in whole
foods are bulky and more filling.
Carbs make you fat. Refined carbs like fries will result to weight gain but whole carbs like brown
rice are bulky and more filling therefore are healthy.
Fat makes you fat. It seems logic but there is nothing fattening about fat. As long as calories ...

Actually it never works in long term. It leads to weight gain in the future. You shouldn t approach
weight loss with a dieting mindset instead make it a life plan to be happier, healthier and fitter.
Eating smaller meals make you burn more calories, well this is a myth too. Eat when you are
hungry and stop when you are full. You should eat to satisfy hunger not appetite.
Eating less and work out more. This may seem true because when calories out surpass calories in
fat is lost but this at times makes the body go into starvation mode. When the body does that it will
conserve every possible calorie, breaking down muscle tissue as well as fat, endangering ones health
and making weight loss difficult. Weight loss should involve eating right, the right kind of foodand
the right amount of food.
Losing weight is linear process. This is not true, it may fluctuate. This should not be a cause of
concern. At times you may be carrying more food in the digestive system or more water in the
body. As long as the trend is going downwards eventually you will lose weight in the long term.
Those are some of the common myths

An Outsider In The Outsiders
The Outsiders is one of the themes in the story. Looking at life as an outsider and the feeling of
being treated as an outsider is a point of view. Someone who always feels like an outsider might
believe that life is unfair. We as teenagers tend consider ourselves to be grown ups already, but in
reality we are still under the control of others and this loss of control leads to the feeling that life
isn t fair. For example, Ponyboy understands that he is not safe walking the streets alone because
he could be attacked by the way he is dressed; this makes him feel like an outsider in his own town.
Ponyboy sees unfairness every day. With his parents being dead, Darry is forced to work two jobs
to support the brothers, while Soda has dropped out... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Family connections tend to be difficult, but in the Ponyboy`s family, the right to stay together
is a nonstop conflict. Since their parents death, Darry has taken the responsibility of
guardianship for Pony and Soda, and under that pressure he seems way older than he really is.
He no longer views the two boys as siblings, but more as a responsibility. Darry sees Ponyboy s
potential and has high expectations for him, but Ponyboy complains that Darry is a stricter than
his father. Although by the end of the book he understands Darry. Gang relationships are included
in the theme of family. Ponyboy s gang members need the support and security that they find in
the gang. The home life circumstances that these boys find themselves in are usually abusive.
They have resort to the gang for the care and support that should have come from parents. Johnny
is painfully aware of the difference between the gang and a family and through him Pony begins
to understand how lucky he is to have a caring family. The third major theme that runs through

The Anti-Stratfordian
Have you ever experienced the feeling of complete shock and astonishment? When something you
have learned all your life has started to be questioned by people around the world? This is exactly
what happened to the many that studied and admired Shakespeare s works, who were stunned to
hear that their beloved poet may not have been who the world believed he was. People, known
commonly as Anti Stratfordians , began to doubt his credibility and started introducing new
candidates who fit the profile of the esteemed William Shakespeare. Their claims however, never
came to real fruition, with an insufficient amount of concrete evidence to cast enough genuine
doubt on the man widely accepted to be William Shakespeare. Their opposition, known as

In the time of Shakespeare, it was customary for men to leave money for their friends for
memorial rings when they died. William Shakespeare who died in Stratford upon Avon
bequeathed money in his will for memorial rings to John Heminges, Henry Condell, and Richard
Burbage, actors in Lord Chamberlain s Men theatre company and known associates of William
Shakespeare, who wrote for the company. The same John Heminges and Henry Condell edited
and published the First Folio, the 1623 published collection of Shakespeare s plays only to keep
the memory of so worthy a friend and fellow alive as was our Shakespeare (Murphy PBS.org).
Also in the First Folio, Ben Johnson, commonly considered the second most notable English
dramatist during the early 17th century, wrote a praiseful poem in which he referred to
Shakespeare as Sweet Swan of Avon (qtd. Murphy PBS.org). In notes found after his death in
1641, Johnson wrote about the playwright as though they were friends. I loved the man, and do
honour [sic] his memory (on this side Idolatry) as much as any. He was (indeed) honest, and of an

Nature Vs. Nurture Debate
PSYS 150 Assessment Task 1 Nature Nurture Debate Scientists and biologist have argued the
Nature versus Nurture debate for decades. This debate argues the degree to which our genetics or
environment, affects our behaviour and developmental stages. Nature is described as the genetic
material that makes up an individual. Nurture can be described as the way in which the
environment and experiences of an individual influence their behavior and development. The
debate has centered on which is a greater factor for many years but current contemporary views
accept and acknowledge the intricacy of the developmental procedure and recognize that
development is not the case of nature or nurture, but rather nature and nurture (Howard Walton
2015) It has been shown that genetic and environmental factors are in such continuous interactions
that the emergence of particular structures and functions is the result of the dependent interaction
of genetics and environment.(Lewkowicz, 2011.) Those advocating the nature perspective argue
for genetic determinism, this supports the idea that each person has a genetic blueprint that is
formulated to unfold at a precise time in a precise way. It is believed that genetic material sets up
our potential, possibilities and probabilities. (Howard Walton 2015 p.5) For example: Body type,
Height, Hair colour, Blood type etcetera. (Howard Walton 2015) A recent questionnaire of the
general public indicated that genetic influence was considered

Level Three Leadership
Level Three Leadership is imperative in today s changing society that relies on technology and
social media. All that we do is dependent upon the change processes, the roles that any person can
play and the interaction of the organization, self, others and the task. Change is inevitable for
many managers find a comfort zone which reduces flexibility and future growth they tend to miss
the shifting in the market and are left behind. As there are many models of managing change, no
model of managing change in the individual, work group, or organizational level is to overlook
the importance of becoming a master of the change process to become an effective leader.

It was noted that communication efforts must be verbal and active (Kotter, 1995). Kotter eight step

acceptance and the preparation of this change, which makes it an easy transition. In Kotter s and
Lewin s models, both consider the difficulties that organizations encounter when trying to move
people from their comfort zone for the change to happen. In both of the models they use a different

Movie Co Written And Directed By South Korean Director,...
Snowpiercer is a 2013 science fiction thriller movie co written and directed by South Korean
director, Bong Joon ho. With all the battles and intense scenes, the movie is a thriller marvel in
itself. However, the movie also has a lot of hidden political messages which are surreptitiously
inscribed in the movie.
The movie is about class conflict and economic inequality, using the train as an analogy. It has
different cabins and each one represents a social class in the real world. The people at the very
back are the poorest and live in inhumane conditions. As you move up the train, the quality of life
gets better and better; until you reach the very front of the train, the engine, where the leader

However, this is not reflected in the prices of their products, which are very expensive.
Between the front and the back cabins exist different classes. As we move through different
carts, we see the working class, for example, there is a school with students and a teacher, a chef
who makes food for the upper class people. Then, there is a violinist who serves as an entertainer
to different sections of the train. Another section grows plants and vegetation. Everyone has a
function and a job on the train and the society. This is a representation of the working class in the
real world. They live better lives than the poorest people but they still work for the capitalists. The
working class is as essential to the capitalist class as any other class.
Then there is the wealthy class which only parties and does not add to anything in the society.
They just happen to waste the resources of the train. This wealthy class live lavish lives and don
t have to worry about the basic necessities live food, clothes or shelter. Then at the absolute front
is the leader who lives lavishly and controls all other people in the train. He is a capitalist and
has invested on this train and in return, gets to rule the train. In the real world, Wilford represents
the top 1% of the population that we hear about. Those are the people who control half of the
world s wealth and are the ones who basically decide how

Organizational Leadership Analysis
The most communicated organizational need in the global business environment is organizational
leadership. Today, more than nine hundred universities and colleges exist to train, teach, and
educate those who wish to become leaders in the specific topics of organizational leadership.
Moreover, publications that inform benchmarks, best practices, and basic leadershipconcepts are
becoming must read material in the global organization. Even though leadership may be defined in
many different ways, the substance of the definition is similar. Leadership has been said to be a
trait, an ability, skill, behavior, and relationship (Leadership New Leadership Styles, 2016). No

Additionally, leadership traits may be altered by success when internalized by men and women in
moving an organization toward success. In any event, leadership traits may be categorized into the
most common, and likable leadership titles. These titles include: (1) Spiritual; (2) Servant; (3)
Transformational; (4) Authentic; and (5) Transactional. Depending upon the organization, the
culture, and the organizational environment, the leadership style needed or desired to move the
business to success is a critical decision. Organizations that lack leadership or lack the appropriate
motivational leadership tools will have difficulties in the global competition. Recognizing the lack
of leadership abilities may prevent organizational failure, unwanted staff turnover, organizational
conflicts, reduced productivity, and undesirable legal encounters.
Discussion
Using two distinctly different approaches in quantifiable research, one may compare and contrast
qualitative and quantitative leadership styles. By means of two measured studies, the one most
distinguish and one least advantageous leadership style may be determined. These studies may also
be used to predict the most productive leadership style for organizational growth. Additionally,
determine which leadership styles may be ruled out, or not used, due to lacking leadership traits.
What ever the outcome, this study begins with the quantitative leadership styles.

Turning Copper Pennies Into Gold Essay
Chemistry, an age old science that to this day were are still developing and advancing, was once
based off the concept of alchemy, where scientists attempted to turn common metals like lead and
copper into precious ones like gold. These experiments were regarded as magic tricks, with
experiments The preparation of Gold we got to see behind the curtains of their act. For the
experiment we would be attempting to turn common copper pennies into gold, testing whether or
not the transformation is possible. My hypothesis is that the pennies won t turn into gold, as that
is impossible, but a copper alloy of some sort. An alloy is a mixture of two or more metals, or a

which when introduced to the copper penny the zincate ions (ZnO2 2) in the solution to bind to
the copper of the penny, after a minute it gets reduced to metallic zinc that coats the penny. This
process involved a chemical change as the sodium zincate formed, and a physical change as it
coated the penny, a new substance was not formed. When the penny was heated over the bunsen
burner flame the zinc and copper combine to form the metallic mixture brass. This process was a
chemical change as the copper and zinc melted together to form a new substance. Copper is a
substitutional alloy, meaning that because the elements Zinc and Copper are close to each other
on the periodic table, they are similar in size and can easily exchange atoms (zinc gives to
copper). We could have tested whether or not the substance was gold by measuring the density of
the penny, or by applying nitric acid to the penny and looking for signs of oxidization, but it was
easy to observe that there was no miraculous change from copper to gold. In conclusion, my
hypothesis that the pennies wouldn t turn into gold, but rather a copper alloy was correct. The
substance actually created was not gold but brass, a copper and zinc

Tom Hardy The Man He Killed Essay
The Man He Killed by Tom Hardy kicks off immediately talking about the man he once met in the
war. An anonymous speaker starts off the poem talking about someone he met, and if they had met
differently, they could ve sat down and shared a drink together and had a good time. Hardy
immediately has the reader wondering what extreme event took place in the current situation in
which he met the man. This first stanza and the title both help foreshadow what the meeting
between these two unknown men was. Hardy s eloquent use of the setting in the opening stanza
gives the reader a feasible idea that these two men could be or could ve been great friends. As the
poem progresses, we learn more about the situation between these two mysterious men and their

Both men took a shot, and the man (the speaker) was aiming at dropped to the floor. He

senseless but they try and suppress the thoughts and even try to change the way they feel about
it by repeatedly telling themselves different reasons as to why they did it. The final stanzas talk
about how the two men were one in the same, they both enlisted in the war, and both were in the
infantry, the man felt as if they were the same person. The closing words of the poem open the
reader s eyes about war by saying You shoot a fellow down, You d treat if met where any bar is,

Many Symbols in the Scarlett Letter
Roger Ebert said, If you have to ask what it symbolizes, it didn t. There are many symbols in The
Scarlet Letter. The most known one was the letter itself. The meaning of the letter appears clear at
first but as the book progresses you see the letter s meaning shift with Hester s character. The
magistrates intended the letter to represent the sin of adultery. And while of course, people did shun
her at the very beginning, the shaming technique could not weather the test of time. The A soon
began to lose its shameful meaning and instead become a symbolic example of Hester s courage
and show that public shaming cannot compete with one s own means of self torture. To begin, the
scarlet letterhad lost its meaning over the course of time. Then, also, the blameless purity of her
life during all these years in which she had been set apart to infamy was reckoned largely in her
favor. (Chapter XIII) The author s purpose is to call attention to the Puritan s weak shaming
system. For example, if the person being subjected to the humiliation does not draw attention to
them self, the villagers will lose interest in the crime; this allows the villagers a healing time. In
Hester s case the people were able to see her in a new light. Such helpfulness was found in her so
much power to do and power to sympathize that many people refused to interpret the scarlet A by
its original signification. They said that it meant Able ; so strong was Hester Prynne, with a woman s

Thousands of white Americans came to Harlem to experience the night life. The nightclubs in
New York appealed to the whites as they were very famous. Jazz music was thriving in the area.
It originated in the Unites States among African American musicians. It was at this time that jazz
was at its most famous point. Many people would host rent parties which were very popular at
the time. Apartment owners would hold a party and would charge a fee to those who wanted to

brought musical reviews. Soon white novelists, dramatists and composers started to exploit the
musical tendencies and themes of African Americans in their works. Composers used the literary
works of African American poets in their songs. Negros began to merge with Whites into the

The Effects Of Physical Abuse On Children
A general definition of physical abuse is a non accidental injury of a child inflicted by a
caregiver. Children who are abused can experience injuries ranging from bruises, fractures and
broken bones, and in some cases, even death. There s an estimated three million children are
abused or neglected every day in the United States (Unger Luca, 2014). Children are more likely
to be physically abused if their parents are single, young parents, living in poverty, parents were
also abused as children, families have alcohol or drug abuse problems, and there is domestic
violencehappening at home (Lazenbatt Freeman, 2006). Many children who experience physical
abuseexperience emotional abuse and neglect as well.
The short term impact of childhood abuse are cognitive and intellectual deficits, deficits in social
skills, PTSD and other mental disorders, anxiety, suicidal behavior, heightened aggression, and
risk taking behavior. Long term impacts include difficulty with trust, low self esteem, anxiety,
anger, internalized aggression, depression, interpersonal difficulties, and substance abuse (Keene
Epps, 2016). These individuals also struggle with identifying and regulating their emotions. It is
very common for victims of childhood physical abuse to feel shame and to experience it more
often than people who did not experience abuse (Keene Epps). A study by Keene and Epps (2016)

Electric Guitar Research Paper
With the increased pressure to go electric, many artists who played the guitar at the height of the
Rock n Roll movement switched their acoustic instruments to electric versions. Unlike bass guitars,
which can often be converted into electric basses, a purely electric guitar will not produce melodic
sounds without the help of an amplifier which carries the tune produced through an electronic
current. Electric guitars also allow the player to partially manipulate the sound coming to the
amplifier through equalizing, distorting, and other methods.
If you want to teach yourself the electric guitar, you are going to first have to choose which type
you want to play. Many versions exist and it is up to you to decide which one fits your style or
how much dedication you really want to put into your practice. If you want to learn using

annual precipitation was estimated at 77.5 mm (65 km3); (2) recharge rate was estimated at
2.79В±0.99 km3/yr; given the annual extraction rate (~0.407В±0.10 km3), recharge rate amounted
to 3.2В±1.00 km3/yr; and (3) the east west trending Uweinat Aswan uplift impedes south to north

Groundwater recharge is the process of water movement downward through a saturated zone

Natural recharge of groundwater may occur from precipitation, from rivers and canals, or from
lakes. In arid and semi arid areas, assessment of groundwater recharge is one of the key challenges
in determining the sustainable yield of aquifers, as recharge rates are generally low in comparison

Road Not Taken to Emily Mottley, Annijah Collins, and McKenna Faychak s Seasons Changing by
using specific details from each poem. When interpreting the The Road Not Taken and Seasons
Changing, one can justify that the differences are their poetic structures and making different
choices, while at the same time recognize that the similarities are that each use nature images,
references to Autumn, and an abundant amount of detail to paint a picture for the reader. To begin
differentiating, one can first analyze the use of poetic structure in The Road Not Taken in contrast
to Seasons Changing through rhyme scheme, stanzas, and rhymepattern. The authors use different
ending rhyme schemes in their poems. For example, Frost uses the structure ABAAB exemplified
by the words from stanza 2: fair, claim, wear, there, same (Frost 6 10), while Mottley, Collins, and
Faychak incorporate the rhyme scheme of a coupling pattern by two lines rhyming with eachother
using the words: brown, down, weather, together, cold, old, cuddle, and couple (Mottley, Collins
and Faychak 1 8). Correspondingly, Frost has five lines in each of his four stanzas, while Mottley,
Collins, and Faychak have

Divine Command Philosophers
I believe that God commands it because it is already right or wrong. This could possibly mean
that whether or not God exist, those right or wrong actions were already right or wrong
instinctively. The only difference is that, some people believe that they need a creator or God to
tell them what is morally correct or wrong to believe it is. The Divine and Command Theory states
that an action is right or wrong if Godcommands it. Divine Command Theorists would say that
anything God commands is morally correct, but do not like the fact that cruelty or suffering could
be morally right. They believe that any command God gives, He is commanding it because it is
morally correct. Meaning that this is the better option for us, but this is where I

Disney Also Develops Our Spirit Of Fighting Against...
Furthermore, Disney also develops Judy as an mirror which reflects our spirit of fighting
against inequality. At beginning of the movie, it uses many terms to emphasize the underlying
issue of inequality such as Prey , Predators , and Savage . These terms reveal that there will be an
problem between these two groups of animals, though everyone seems living under harmony to
the eye. After Judy moved to Zootopia and started her first day at work, she realizes that the city
is not as welcoming and accepting as she thought. Her boss, Chief Bogo does not treat her as
same as other male colleagues but simply asks her to write out 100 parking tickets in one day.
Other officers are assigned different kinds of missions to complete. Judy s disillusion then fades
away because she thinks that she is able contribute to the city more than just signing tickets. Hence,
she decides to prove herself to them and fight for more rights; therefore she completes 200 parking
tickets in one day. Also, she pays full attention to anything that seems suspicious to her. She will not
miss any chance to show her ability. On the first day Judy meets Nick Wilde, her future partner, she
follows this suspicious fox but finds out that Nick is the victim of another animal s discriminationin
the Iced pop shop. She stands out for him even though she knows that traditionally foxes are sly
and not reliable. Although she was conflicted at first, she then turns to overcome the prejudice in

Essay On Safe Ag Safe Schools
In an increasingly globalized and populated world the need for a more robust and productive
food output is a necessary development. Pesticides and fumigants make it possible for growers
and farmers to have more abundant and fruitful crop yield. However, the chemicals used to aid in
food productivity are often understudied and under researched. The Salinas Valley, also known as
the Salad Bowl of the United States, generates more than $8.1 billion annually to the local

The Dow Chemical Company specializes in agricultural chemicals such as pesticides. I used the
pesticides listed on their website to cross reference what pesticides are being used in Salinas and
in the town of Monte Maiz in Argentina. Monte Maiz is a town that has been plagued with
cancer and neurological damages to pregnant mothers fetuses because of the high concentration
and persistence of pesticides in the community. Through cross referencing chemicals I found that
the insecticide Lorsban 48 E, also known as chlorpyrifos, is used on the soybean crops in
Argentina (DOW AgroSciences, np). Here in the Salinas Valley the same chemical, chlorpyrifos,
is being used on apple orchards primarily in Watsonville, a city here in the county. The
consequences and effects of chlorpyrifos being used in Monte Maiz illustrate the potential
ramifications of the use of this harmful chemical. Due to a director at the local hospital in Monte
Maiz noticing increases in patients with cancer, an organization, the Network for the Protection of
Health and Environment, conducted research on the town. The team concluded, One of the most
significant findings obtained from the survey was that while the expectation of new cancer cases

There are many kinds of stores worldwide. Each store sales different products or many of the

that has close ties to Chinese officials. The head of the company was forced to resign after a

The Importance Of Technology In Online Education
With the surge in technological innovations in the past decade, technology has become an integral
part of everyday life, including in education. Educators are constantly discovering and seeking out
new ways to implement technology to the benefit of their students. One of the most critical areas in
early childhood educationis the development of reading, and literacy continues to be one of the most
important subjects throughout all of education. This is why building that strong foundation in
literacy is so important, and online reading skill development is one of the newest endeavours into
encouraging this strong start. One of the most tested and implemented online programs is
Headsprout, as mentioned by Dr. Eckerman in lecture. Headsprout is an online program that is
individualized for each studentand tailored for them to work at their own pace. It is implemented
in elementary schools and automatically adjusts to the needs of the students as they progress
through the program. This is extremely beneficial because in most cases, teachers do not have the
time to devote to every child the assistance they need in order to fully grasp the concepts they are
learning. Every child learns at a different pace and in different ways. By having a personal lesson
plan for every student through the headsprout program, they are able to develop better literacy
skills in a shorter amount of time. The European Journal of Psychology of Education describes a
study that investigates how

In The Trouble with Talent , Kathy Seal, who frequently writes about children and education in

inborn aptitude could breed children to become artful people and waste many of American
children s potential. At the beginning of this article, Seal told about an experiment of Jim Stigler,

solving the math problem. While the American kids solved the problem for a short time and
quickly gave up, the Japanese kids still kept on their work. Stigler stated that Asian education

encourages their effort and shouldn t emphasize inborn talent. Effort counts more than innate ability.
After reading Seal s article which stated that Americans often thought kids are born smart while
Asians more often believed that studying makes a person smarter, I was reminded my own
personal beliefs on intelligence and I realized that I have thought people could get smart by
exerting effort since I was in the last year of elementary school in Vietnam. Therefore, I empathized
with Seal s attitude that success and achievement are a result of working hard. I could remember
that I got this attitude when I was in an important final exam which decided where my middle
school was in the next year that depended on my score. In this exam, the math test was an extremely
difficult test for every student because it had a strange math problem which my classmates and
I had never studied before. At first, I had spent for 2 hour to solve this problem, but I didn t
succeed. So, I wanted to give up. However, I was worry about my score and thought about my

Informative Essay On Lung Cancer Epidemic
Lung Cancer: An Overview Lung cancer was once a very rare disease, this disease was so rare
that doctors thought that it was a once in a lifetime oddity. Towards the end of the 19th century
cigarettes and tobacco become popularised, causing a global lung cancer epidemic. In 2014, an
estimated 221,000 adults in the United States will be diagnosed with lung cancer, (115,610 men and
105,590 women). Lung canceris the second most common cancer in the US. The one year
survival rate is 44%, the five year survival rate is 17% (cancer). The cigarette is the deadliest

The survival advantage for those who stopped smoking was adjusted for demographics, disease
stage and other health characteristics. (science daily). 90 95% of lung cancers diagnosed are
found in the lungs because of the epithelial cells (medicine.net). Lung cancer is the most leading
death in the US and the world (medicine.net). There are many ways to prevent lung cancer, some
ways are as follows: reduce/quit smoking; cigarettes have over 600 chemical ingredients and
when lit, over 4000 chemicals are released into your body. After two to four months of being
diagnosed with SCLC, more than half of the patients die (medicine.net). However, after 5 years
of diagnosis, patients survival rate is down to 5 10% (medicine.net). NSCLC has the best
survival rate at 75% after 5 years (medicine.net). The reason why the survival rate is so high for
NSCLC is because the lung can be treated upon with different procedures and the cancer spreads
slowly throughout the body. The overall prognosis for lung cancer is poor when compared with
some other cancers. Survival rates for lung cancer are generally lower than those for most cancers,
with an overall five year survival rate for lung cancer of about 17% compared to 67% for colon
cancer, 90% for breast cancer, 81% for bladder cancer, and over 99% for prostate cancer.

Community For My Old Volunteer Group
Community for me, is feeling connected, accepted, and at home. It is where everyone is
working together for a mutual cause, and having fun doing it. It is not so much a place to me,
as it is a feeling. I can go to any town, city, or community but it does not necessarily take a place
in my heart as much as the sense of community I have experienced before. What other place to
find community than my old volunteer group, ironically called FOCUS on Community.
FOCUS is an organization whose mission is to reach out to the people of our community, like
teens and families, to prevent substance abuse, smoking, alcoholism, and even to help families
that are already dealing with these issues. My favorite program was the F.A.S.T. program
Families And Schools Together because I worked one on one with people and really saw that
we were making a difference in these people s lives. At the time I first volunteered for F.A.S.T. I
did not realize exactly what I was doing, I merely signed up because I wanted to help out in some
way. However, I soon realized that we truly were bringing these families closer. We gave them a
safe environment with dinner and activities, and a chance every week to have one on one time with
the child of their choice. This helped them solve arguments and build stronger and closer
relationships with children who are having a rough time. Another place where I felt an immense
sense of community was Italian Fest. I have volunteered at this festival for the past

Analysis Of Argument Against Headphones By Virginia Heffernan
Analysis of Argument Against Headphones A century has passed since the creation of headphones,
yet they have only recently come under fire. Headphones provide a way for people to listen to
music, audiobooks, and podcasts privately without disrupting others around them. However, all of
this private listening may soon fall on deaf ears. In Virginia Heffernan s article Against Headphones
, she presents an argument stating that although headphones are useful in some professions, they
cause substantial hearingloss, especially in young people. The formulated argument is effective and
valid, and incorporates ethos, logos, and opposing viewpoints with rebuttals.

Heffernan also illustrates how headphones work, stating, when an audio current passes through the
device s voice coil, it creates an alternating magnetic field that moves a stiff, light diaphragm
(Heffernan, 2011). Describing the history of headphones and how the technology works portrays
Heffernan as a reasonable author with a deep understanding of her subject matter, which earns the
trust and respect of the audience.
Logos
Incorporating logical appeals into her writing allows Heffernan to reach a larger audience by
providing factual support as backing for the argument. The author writes, the number of teenagers
with hearing loss... has jumped 33 percent since 1994 (Heffernan, 2011). By using a statistic as a
logical premise in support of prohibiting headphones, the author sheds light on the harsh reality of
headphone use: more young people experience hearing loss. When discussing the history of
headphones, the author states, workers and soldiers have long used [headphones] to mute out the
din of machinery or artillery while receiving one way orders from someone with a microphone
(Heffernan, 2011). Heffernan recognizes a factual use of headphones while at the same time
acknowledging that headphones are useful in some instances, which helps to strengthen her
argument. Heffernan then goes on to say, headphone users who listen to

The Abu Ghraib is to toughen up prisoners who misbehaved. Nobody would ve known about Abu

cruel environment without clear rules. Dr. Zimbardo put an ad in the paper for healthy male

the experiment. They also got a chain and lock around their one foot to remind them, that their

Crooks Dialectical Journal
After reading chapter 3 and 4 of the novel Of Mice and Men, an important quote stood out to me
among the rest of the passage. On page 68, Crooks responded to Lennie s sudden entrance, You
go on get outta my room. I ain t wanted in the bunkhouse, and you ain t wanted in my room.
Earlier chapters describe how he was not allowed to sleep in the bunkhouse with everyone else
and had to be separated in a room by himself. Moreover, it is a rare occasion does people ever visit
him, on the exception for Slim. The obvious interpretation would be the connection it holds to the
racism that existed at the time, but I perceived a deeper connection behind his response.
Although Crooks is a diligent and hardworking stable buck, he experiences loneliness from unequal
treatment by others. Thus, his impetuous response to Lennie came from the hardships he went

characters such as Crooks. This specific quote stood out to me because it reminded me of how

Characteristics Of Professionalism
What is Professionalism?
Everyone has their own perception about what is professionalism. I personally take on
professionalism is an individual who takes pride in customer service. This person doesn t only dress
the part but knowledgeable about their profession. This will involve treating the customer as you
expect to be treated, go the extra step to make sure the customer is happy. Communicate with the
customer let the customer know what is going on and if necessary follow up with the user. Go
that extra mile, this may involve working past quitting or lunch time. Taking responsibility for
your actions if you don t know seek assistance. Everyone has bad, days don t take it out on your
customer and be polite. The customer may be the one having the bad day and will take out their
frustrations out on you.
Characteristics of Professionalism Polite: When dealing with others we must have patience,
respect and give positive criticism this will make a stronger collaboration with the customer.
(Half, 2014 para. 11) You will be surprised how infectious this is. If you are new, watch how
others respond to customers. If you are the veteran in treatment, be the mentor and set an example.
Remember to treat others, as you expect to be treated, it will go a long way. If you use this rule
with impolite individuals you will be surprised that in time, they may turn over a new leaf.
Criticism: This is always a tough one to swallow. Nature is to be on the offensive when it comes to

attack France. Many other countries feared Germany and its power over the continent, Russia
hoped to ally itself with France, Great Britain and even Germany to guarantee its protection. A
deadly war broke out in 1914, a war in which European powers had tried to avoid for the longest

with Britain. Wilson himself sided with England, a country he admired greatly, and England s
allies. Not many Americans wanted the United States to enter the

Negative Consequences Of European Exploration
European Exploration is negative due to the effects that individual explorers and triangular trade
still has on my life. Racism and the endangerment of native people are prime examples of the
negative consequences of European Exploration. John Cabot s exploration has had a negative
impact on my life. His discoveries led to the colonization of the Americas. Colonists came to the
Americas and killed natives for land and resources. Natives were frightened to the point of leaving
their children in the attempts to escape. This caused the mass extermination of whole groups of
people. In North America, descendants of these natives are being treated unequally due to their
cultural differences. Additionally, in the United Statesthey are a small minority,

Comparing Upper Body Muscular Endurance On Female...
Purpose:
The purpose of the study was clearly stated in the introduction of the article. The purpose of the
study was to compare upper body muscular endurance in female university level modern dancers
and female students who do not dance, but are physically active. Studies have shown that dancing
put dancers at a high risk of becoming injured. Modern dancers are at a higher risk of becoming
injured than any other dancers due to the physical demands of upper body movement.
Hypothesis:
The authors stated the hypothesis for their expected outcomes. They believe that these female
university level modern dancers will have more upper body muscular endurance than non dancers.
The only down fall for this study is that the authors have not found any research to support their
hypothesis.
Research Design:
The participants were thirty two females from a college s modern dance program who had no
history of injuries for the previous three months. The authors did not select these participants; the
program recruited them. The non dancers were randomly selected amongst the university s
population. The participants had to be in compliance with the study s minimal inclusion physical
activity criterion. Therefore, physical activity data was collected from all the participants. The
authors received consent from the university s Institutional Review Board to conduct the study.
They also gave the participants a consent form to read and sign. The researchers used a push up test
to measure the

The Multi Layered Nature Of Synesthesia
The taste of beef, such as a steak, produces a rich blue, and Mango sherbet appears as a wall of

professor at National Central University in Taiwan describes his neurological condition called
synesthesia.1 Synesthesia is a neurological condition in which the stimulation of one sense is

(Simner). Next came the first mention of synesthesia in scientific literature, Sir Francis Galton
published a paper about synesthesia in the journal Nature in 1880.( Guillochon, May,). Soon after
this publication a Swiss medical student named Eugen Bleuler and Karl Lehmann collected data on
76 synesthesia patients and compiled a book that now is considered a milestone in the history of
synesthesia. (Simner). As a whole the scientific community delved into the study of synesthesia in
the late 19th century and the early 20th century, but in the mid 20th century research subsided until
the 1970s when the study of synesthesia was revived. (Carpenter). Synesthesia history was one of
self discovery and new studies and data about the condition.
The exact cause of synesthesia although not discovered; at the moment the cause can best be
explained by the hypothesis of serotonergic factors. Scientists do in fact though classify three
categories of how one acquired synesthesia. (Brogaard ). The three categories as follows are
developmental synesthesia, acquired synesthesia, and drug induced synesthesia. (Brogaard).
Developmental synesthesia is the most common type; it is the form of the condition that has
continued since birth or early childhood and is most common in people with autism spectrum
disorders. (Brogaard, Safran, ). Acquired synesthesia is a form of the condition which synesthesia
appears after a brain injury of

Creating Vulnerabilities
With the increasing use of technology today with computers, there are better ways we can came up
with to stop vulnerabilities in a network. As organizations increase their reliance on, possibly

Visual Effects Created By E.E. Cummings In His Poetry Essay
Visual Effects Created By E.E. Cummings In His Poetry
Edward Estlin Cummings, commonly referred to as E. E. Cummings, was born on October 14,
1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was a source of vast knowledge and was responsible for
many creative works other than his poetry, such as novels, plays, and paintings. He published his
first book of poetry Tulips and Chimneys in 1923. Many of his poems are known for the visual
effects they create through his unusual placement of words on the page, as well as, his lack of
punctuation and capitalization. The manner in which Cummings arranges the words of his poems
creates an image in the reader s mind of the topic he is discussing, such as a season or climbing
stairs. His visual style also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader also obtains a visual effect when reading Cummings in Just . In this poem, the main
topic is springtime and the various aspects of that season. Cummings creates the words mud
luscious and puddle wonderful to provide the reader with images of spring from a child s
perspective. Adults would view mud and puddles as a negative aspect of spring, resulting from the
melting of snow and the showers that usually occur at that time of the year. However, by creating
these words, Cummings brings the reader back to their own childhood when mud and puddles were
wonderful aspects of spring.
In this same poem, Cumming also uses spacing to create an image in the reader s mind. For
example, he writes:
lame balloonman whistles far and wee (Cummings 21 22.)
The fact that the word far is separated from the other words in the line creates an image that the
whistling is in the distance. Additionally, he joins the names eddieandbill and bettyandisbel. This
illustrates that there is a togetherness that is usually found in spring because it is a time when
children play outside with their friends. By joining the names, the poet captures the manner in
which children, who are excited, speak by running their words together and leaving out syllables.
Spring is usually a time when people s

Vietnam War Language Analysis
Before the playing of the national anthem at each Bucknell University basketball game at Sojka
Pavilion this season men or women there is a vocal request for unity across the campus and the
nation. Despite the plea, the nation remains divided on cultural, moral and political issues that run
parallel to racial and ethnic lines. Such divisions were evident throughout the three day D.N.C.
Atlanta conference where both Tom Perez and Keith Ellison urged backers to unite and fight
President Trump and not each other.
You could argue that the country is more divided today than at any time since the Vietnam War. In
a survey of news stories over two days, it was difficult not to see why.

Chicago Alderman named a city street after the convicted terrorist. Moreover, the alderman

Challenges Facing Indigenous Latin Americans
Smith discusses how important advances have been made over the past four decades in improving
both the living and the political conditions for many of Latin America s indigenous peoples. Chase
Smith discusses five major challenges facing Indigenous Latin Americans. Three of which will be
discussed in this report. Firstly, there are many challenges regarding territory and resources. Smith
states that since the beginning of European colonial domination in the Americas, that Indigenous
peopleshave suffered and protested the continual loss of access to their land and resources in order
to their place in this world. The twentieth century brought political and organizational innovations
to support indigenous peoples attempts to recover and insure access to resources. Chase uses the
example of Brazil, the Andean Amazon and parts of Central America, in which, the Indigenous
peoples demands now focus on state recognition of their collective rights to a territory, which
includes subsoil and surface resources. Smith emphasized that Latin American republics has usually
limited the recognition of territorial rights for Indigenous peoples to those populations that are
defined by law as indigenous. This often leaves out and marginalizes large Indigenous populations
catalogued as peasant or as mestizo . According to Smith, this idea leaves out two important
outcomes of those debates that go hand in hand. One being that all human beings have the right to
define for themselves

Coevolution And Evolutionary Responses At First Thought
Coevolution and Evolutionary Responses At first thought, it might seem as if everything is
involved in coevolution. This assumption might be drawn due to the fact that basically every
organism interacts with another organism and possibly influences their evolution in some way.
However, this assumption depends entirely on one s definition of coevolution. There are many
other forms of evolutionary responses other than coevolution including: evolutionary relationships
between antagonists, evolutionary equilibrium, genetic variation in competitive ability, and
character displacement, all which will be discussed later on. In fact, all of these evolutionary
responses revolve around the idea that interacting populations tend to evolve in response to
features which affect evolutionary strength. First, species evolve in ways that improve, or at
least maintain, their ability to live. Communities, however, do not undergo the same process. No
community evolves as a unit. Species may evolve in ways that are mostly influenced by ecology.
This means that species evolve by their relationship with one or a few species, which in turn
allows the others to evolve as well. Coevolution is commonly described as a change in the genetic
composition of one species, or group, in response to a genetic change in another and was coined by
Ehrlich and Raven after observing plant herbivore interactions. Around the same time, Charles
Darwin published The Origin of Species, which also spoke of the

Characteristics Oedipus A King
Myles Derr
Topic 3 Some characteristics Oedipus shows while he is a king is his impatience, his ability to act
rashly, and how quick he likes to take action. One example of this is on page 18 of The Oedipus
Cycle when he says, What a wicked old man you are! You d try a stone s patience! Out with it!
Oedipus says this after Teiresias refuses to tell him what he knows about the murderer of the
previous king of Thebes. Instead of trying to persuade him further or just accept that Teiresias
won t tell Oedipus what he wants to know, his impatience causes him to act rashly and start
insulting the seer. Another example of Oedipus s tendency to act quickly appears on page 28
when Oedipus says to Creon, You murderer! Do you think I do not know that you plotted to kill
me, plotted to steal my throne? Prior to their conversation, Oedipus asks his brother in law,
Creon, to bring Teiresias to him so they may ask him what he knows. After Teiresias refuses to
share what he knows with Oedipus, he eventually tells him that Oedipus is the murderer that he
is seeking. Just from this, Oedipus quickly comes to the conclusion that Creon urged Teiresias to
say this in order to usurp the throne. Another example of Oedipus s rashness appears on page 43
of The Oedipus Cycle, The groom leading the horses forced me off the road at his lord s
command; but as this charioteer lurched over towards me I struck him in my rage . . . Swinging
my club in this right hand I knocked him out of his

The Business Propositions For Woodmere
Woodmere is a window fashion supplier with facilities in Michigan whose customers are
predominately dealers at the retail level. Currently John Smith, a sales representative for
Woodmere, has been working with a company named HomeHelp which is looking to secure an
exclusive distribution agreement with a supplier that currently practices time based logistics. The
opportunitycould be very profitable for both companies as a time based system would allow both
companies to have greater visibility into the supply chain. Woodmere has been the supplier of
choice for the last 50 years with Happy Home Living but this partnership has recently become
strained as salesfor Happy Home continue to dramatically fall.
Some of the key questions that need to be addressed include what are the major business
propositions for Woodmere and HomeHelp to consider in evaluating this proposal? Is time based
logistics the right strategy for each company? One of the initial decisions that Woodmere needs
to consider is if partnering with HomeHelp is the right business decision. One of the rules that
HomeHelp follows is the belief in keeping costs low and service high (D. Bowersox, D. Closs, B.
Cooper, J Bowersox, 2012). This belief may not align with Woodmere which is a company known
for its long standing partnerships. For Woodmere this partnership could mean a significant change
in their current logistical process though if they decide to not partner with HomeHelp then they

Discrimination Can Affect Anyone Anywhere Essay
Discrimination can affect anyone anywhere. Major focus points of discrimination are based off
race, gender, or sexuality. However, there is a form of discrimination that is often invisible to the
public eye and did not even have a proper name until 1981 (FWD Forward). This form of
discrimination affects many Americans everyday. This type of discriminationis known as ableism.
Ableism is defined as the discrimination of disabled people in favor of able bodied people.
Ableism is not as noticed or as mainstream as other forms of discrimination. Fifty four million
Americans currently have some form of disability, yet the discrimination towards the disabled
community is still out of focus in many aspects (HRFnd). While the United Statesof America has
come a long with shaping civil rights for the disabled people, the country still has a long way to
go. Issues that disabled people struggle with today include, unemployment, social isolation, and
stereotypes that demean the disabled population. These are all issues that should have been
addressed and resolved back when laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act passed in the
United States back in 1990 by the George H. Bush Administration. However, these issues have not
been resolved and ableism is still a huge issue in the United States that needs to be solved. The
disabled community is still fighting battles that should have ended a long time ago. With more
consideration though, society could put an end to

Postnatal Pb Assessment
In scientific literature it is critical to avoid generalizations and leaving gaps in place of supported
information or clarification. Most of these issues occurred due to assumptions regarding the reader
s academic level or knowledge on the topic. For example: Boucher et al. (2014) made an argument
about the cause and effect of contaminates on Indigenous health proclaiming other studies have
extensive evidence of long term effects from postnatal Pb exposure , without describing the
particular evidence available. Leaving arguments without the supported evidence or procedure used
to come to that conclusion is equivalent to omitting the statement all together, as there is no
evidence actually provided. Boucher et al. (2014) also claimed that most of the evidence of
cognitive impairment associated with prenatal Pb exposure comes from global developmental
assessments . In addition to excluding the actual evidence, the study uses a universal assessment to
evaluate a culturally specific nation. Nunavik infants and children s overall cognition and
intelligence were assessed using a westernized system completely different from their current
ancestral knowledge foundation. Efforts were made to correct differences and forms of
misrepresentation in the data by administering tests in Inuktituk, the children s native language

U.S. Foreign Policy s Effects on Modern Turkey Essay
U.S. Foreign Policy s Effects on Modern Turkey
Turkey has managed to be halfway in and halfway out across most of the burning subjects of the
past century. Tod Lindberg, The Washington Times (Lindberg)
This statement best describes the relationship today between the United States and modern Turkey.
It is a nation that plays a crucial role in U.S. foreign policy because of its strategic location and its
democratic government. However, Turkey often is overlooked in the larger picture of U.S. foreign
policy. Because of this, Turkey has managed to only be partially involved in major international
affairs. To put it bluntly, America uses Turkey when it needs it, but other than that, Turkey is not a
major priority of U.S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two factors have caused a severe economic recession in Turkey (ibid). In 2002, more than
two million jobs in Turkey were lost and the economy shrunk by 9.4 percent (ibid). The 1991
Gulf War left Turkey with no leg to stand on. With an economy in crisis, refugee and trade
problems, and the continued necessity of a strong military, Turkey s resources are being stretched
thin. However, the U.S. has supported some efforts to aid Turkey. This may be seen as the United
State s way of making up for the problems they have caused. Regardless of the intention, the U.S.
has pushed for efforts that benefit Turkey.
The relationship between the United States and Turkey since the 1991 Gulf War can be
described as a ?you scratch my back I?ll scratch yours? situation.? Turkey still plays a crucial
role in U.S. foreign policy; however, the relationship has been strained during the interwar
years.? According to Michelle Ciarrocca, the U.S. needs to treat modern Turkey as a part of the

Europe (ibid).? This area is becoming increasingly important to the U.S. because of its strategic
location near both the Middle East and Russia (ibid).? For this reason, The United States has
struggled to build a working relationship with Turkey.? However, this relationship is not always

Someone who always feels like an outsider might believe that life is unfair. We as teenagers tend consider ourselves to be grown ups already, but in reality we are still under the control of others and this loss of control leads to the feeling that life isn t fair. For example, Ponyboy understands that he is not safe walking the streets alone because he could be attacked by the way he is dressed; this makes him feel like an outsider in his own town. William Shakespeare who died in Stratford upon Avon bequeathed money in his will for memorial rings to John Heminges, Henry Condell, and Richard Burbage, actors in Lord Chamberlain s Men theatre company and known associates of William Shakespeare, who wrote for the company. • 9. Nature Vs. Nurture Debate PSYS 150 Assessment Task 1 Nature Nurture Debate Scientists and biologist have argued the Nature versus Nurture debate for decades. This debate argues the degree to which our genetics or environment, affects our behaviour and developmental stages. Nature is described as the genetic material that makes up an individual. Nurture can be described as the way in which the environment and experiences of an individual influence their behavior and development. The debate has centered on which is a greater factor for many years but current contemporary views accept and acknowledge the intricacy of the developmental procedure and recognize that development is not the case of nature or nurture, but rather nature and nurture (Howard Walton 2015) It has been shown that genetic and environmental factors are in such continuous interactions that the emergence of particular structures and functions is the result of the dependent interaction of genetics and environment.(Lewkowicz, 2011.) Those advocating the nature perspective argue for genetic determinism, this supports the idea that each person has a genetic blueprint that is formulated to unfold at a precise time in a precise way. It is believed that genetic material sets up our potential, possibilities and probabilities. (Howard Walton 2015 p.5) For example: Body type, Height, Hair colour, Blood type etcetera. • 16. Many Symbols in the Scarlett Letter Roger Ebert said, If you have to ask what it symbolizes, it didn t. There are many symbols in The Scarlet Letter. The most known one was the letter itself. The meaning of the letter appears clear at first but as the book progresses you see the letter s meaning shift with Hester s character. The magistrates intended the letter to represent the sin of adultery. And while of course, people did shun her at the very beginning, the shaming technique could not weather the test of time. The A soon began to lose its shameful meaning and instead become a symbolic example of Hester s courage and show that public shaming cannot compete with one s own means of self torture. To begin, the scarlet letterhad lost its meaning over the course of time. Then, also, the blameless purity of her life during all these years in which she had been set apart to infamy was reckoned largely in her favor. (Chapter XIII) The author s purpose is to call attention to the Puritan s weak shaming system. For example, if the person being subjected to the humiliation does not draw attention to them self, the villagers will lose interest in the crime; this allows the villagers a healing time. In Hester s case the people were able to see her in a new light. There s an estimated three million children are abused or neglected every day in the United States (Unger Luca, 2014). Children are more likely to be physically abused if their parents are single, young parents, living in poverty, parents were also abused as children, families have alcohol or drug abuse problems, and there is domestic violencehappening at home (Lazenbatt Freeman, 2006). Many children who experience physical abuseexperience emotional abuse and neglect as well. The short term impact of childhood abuse are cognitive and intellectual deficits, deficits in social skills, PTSD and other mental disorders, anxiety, suicidal behavior, heightened aggression, and risk taking behavior. Long term impacts include difficulty with trust, low self esteem, anxiety, anger, internalized aggression, depression, interpersonal difficulties, and substance abuse (Keene Epps, 2016). These individuals also struggle with identifying and regulating their emotions. It is very common for victims of childhood physical abuse to feel shame and to experience it more often than people who did not experience abuse (Keene Epps). • 19. Electric Guitar Research Paper With the increased pressure to go electric, many artists who played the guitar at the height of the Rock n Roll movement switched their acoustic instruments to electric versions. Unlike bass guitars, which can often be converted into electric basses, a purely electric guitar will not produce melodic sounds without the help of an amplifier which carries the tune produced through an electronic current. Electric guitars also allow the player to partially manipulate the sound coming to the amplifier through equalizing, distorting, and other methods. If you want to teach yourself the electric guitar, you are going to first have to choose which type you want to play. Many versions exist and it is up to you to decide which one fits your style or how much dedication you really want to put into your practice. If you want to learn using classical pedagogy, lessons will probably be essential. Choosing this route will allow you to choose a five , six , seven , or even twelve stringed instrument. Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and climatic model (CLM 4.5) outputs were conducted over the southern part of the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System (NSAS) (area: 835 Г— 103 km2) in Sudan and Chad to estimate the natural recharge rate. The Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System (NSAS) is shared by Egypt, Libya, Chad, and Sudan, and is one of the largest (area: ~ 2 Г— 106 km2) groundwatersystems in the world. Findings from the study include: (1) average annual precipitation was estimated at 77.5 mm (65 km3); (2) recharge rate was estimated at 2.79В±0.99 km3/yr; given the annual extraction rate (~0.407В±0.10 km3), recharge rate amounted to 3.2В±1.00 km3/yr; and (3) the east west trending Uweinat Aswan uplift impedes south to north groundwater flow and replenishment from the recharge area in the south. A cost effective integrated approach is developed to quantify the modern recharge of the NSAS during the period from January 2003 to December 2012. 1.Introduction Groundwater recharge is the process of water movement downward through a saturated zone under the force of gravity or in a direction determined by a hydraulic condition (Simmers, 1997). Natural recharge of groundwater may occur from precipitation, from rivers and canals, or from lakes. In arid and semi arid areas, assessment of groundwater recharge is one of the key challenges in determining the sustainable yield of aquifers, as recharge rates are generally low in comparison with average annual rainfall or ... • 21. The Road Not Taken And Robert Frost Comparison Analysis Imagine being outside with the colorful leaves falling to the ground in warm, comfy clothes and hot chocolate in a mug. Often times poets use nature and sensory detail to inspire their writing and engage their audience with a mental connection. One can compare and contrast Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken to Emily Mottley, Annijah Collins, and McKenna Faychak s Seasons Changing by using specific details from each poem. When interpreting the The Road Not Taken and Seasons Changing, one can justify that the differences are their poetic structures and making different choices, while at the same time recognize that the similarities are that each use nature images, references to Autumn, and an abundant amount of detail to paint a picture for the reader. To begin differentiating, one can first analyze the use of poetic structure in The Road Not Taken in contrast to Seasons Changing through rhyme scheme, stanzas, and rhymepattern. The authors use different ending rhyme schemes in their poems. For example, Frost uses the structure ABAAB exemplified by the words from stanza 2: fair, claim, wear, there, same (Frost 6 10), while Mottley, Collins, and Faychak incorporate the rhyme scheme of a coupling pattern by two lines rhyming with eachother using the words: brown, down, weather, together, cold, old, cuddle, and couple (Mottley, Collins and Faychak 1 8). Correspondingly, Frost has five lines in each of his four stanzas, while Mottley, Collins, and Faychak have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Divine and Command Theory states that an action is right or wrong if Godcommands it. Divine Command Theorists would say that anything God commands is morally correct, but do not like the fact that cruelty or suffering could be morally right. Educators are constantly discovering and seeking out new ways to implement technology to the benefit of their students. One of the most critical areas in early childhood educationis the development of reading, and literacy continues to be one of the most important subjects throughout all of education. This is why building that strong foundation in literacy is so important, and online reading skill development is one of the newest endeavours into encouraging this strong start. One of the most tested and implemented online programs is Headsprout, as mentioned by Dr. Eckerman in lecture. Headsprout is an online program that is individualized for each studentand tailored for them to work at their own pace. It is implemented in elementary schools and automatically adjusts to the needs of the students as they progress through the program. The few voices that did express concern went unheard, that is until the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, John Burroughs, Sigurd Olson, and Archibald MacLeish (Cantrill Oravec, 1996; Dunaway, 2005; Neuzil, 2008; Spaulding, 1995). Although Thoreau s writings of the natural world did not have much impact during his lifetime, as discussed later, they did influence many great thinkers that followed. Other notable naturalists and politicians that sought for preservation of the land include John Muir, David Brower, Joseph LeConte, Aldo Leopold, George Perkins Marsh, Gifford Pinchot, also wrote and spoke out about preservation of land, nature, and wildlife. Promotion of Yosemite for preservation was backed by an unlikely source, supporters of the expansion of the railroad system, which granted additional land to the Union Pacific and Central Pacific so they could follow through on their grand plans to build a steam powered transcontinental connection (Levitt, 2002b, p. 27). Yet, support from railroad interests also led to endless demand for wood and unlimited building both residential and commercial entities that deteriorated America s forests. Awareness for the pristine nature and wildlife in the Yellowstone region received similar accolade and concern for preservation as Yosemite (see Bossen, 1982; DeLuca Demo, 2000; Jacoby, 2001; National Park Service, 2012). Just as Watkins compelling photos were influential in the preservation of Yosemite, other photographers were motivated to advocate on behalf of the land. William Henry Jackson made numerous photos of Yellowstone for the U.S. Geological Survey and lobbied Congress for preservation of the region. In 1872, President Ulysses Grant signed into law the Yellowstone Act that set aside more than two million acres of land. President Theodore Roosevelt and other presidents made foreign affairs more captivating than before. Roosevelt strongly believed in the worth and significance of Americans power and the usage of the power, but he had different ways of using the power. Roosevelt also believed that there was a great advantage in foreign affairs that would cause economic development and growing industrialist society. • 42. Comparing Upper Body Muscular Endurance On Female... Purpose: The purpose of the study was clearly stated in the introduction of the article. The purpose of the study was to compare upper body muscular endurance in female university level modern dancers and female students who do not dance, but are physically active. Studies have shown that dancing put dancers at a high risk of becoming injured. Modern dancers are at a higher risk of becoming injured than any other dancers due to the physical demands of upper body movement. Hypothesis: The authors stated the hypothesis for their expected outcomes. They believe that these female university level modern dancers will have more upper body muscular endurance than non dancers. The only down fall for this study is that the authors have not found any research to support their hypothesis. Research Design: The participants were thirty two females from a college s modern dance program who had no history of injuries for the previous three months. The authors did not select these participants; the program recruited them. The non dancers were randomly selected amongst the university s population. The participants had to be in compliance with the study s minimal inclusion physical activity criterion. Therefore, physical activity data was collected from all the participants. The authors received consent from the university s Institutional Review Board to conduct the study. They also gave the participants a consent form to read and sign. Cummings, was born on October 14, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was a source of vast knowledge and was responsible for many creative works other than his poetry, such as novels, plays, and paintings. He published his first book of poetry Tulips and Chimneys in 1923. Many of his poems are known for the visual effects they create through his unusual placement of words on the page, as well as, his lack of punctuation and capitalization. Cummings creates the words mud luscious and puddle wonderful to provide the reader with images of spring from a child s perspective. Adults would view mud and puddles as a negative aspect of spring, resulting from the melting of snow and the showers that usually occur at that time of the year. However, by creating these words, Cummings brings the reader back to their own childhood when mud and puddles were wonderful aspects of spring. In this same poem, Cumming also uses spacing to create an image in the reader s mind. For example, he writes: lame balloonman whistles far and wee (Cummings 21 22.) The fact that the word far is separated from the other words in the line creates an image that the whistling is in the distance. Additionally, he joins the names eddieandbill and bettyandisbel. This illustrates that there is a togetherness that is usually found in spring because it is a time when children play outside with their friends. By joining the names, the poet captures the manner in which children, who are excited, speak by running their words together and leaving out syllables. Spring is usually a time when people s ... • 47. Challenges Facing Indigenous Latin Americans Smith discusses how important advances have been made over the past four decades in improving both the living and the political conditions for many of Latin America s indigenous peoples. Chase Smith discusses five major challenges facing Indigenous Latin Americans. Three of which will be discussed in this report. Firstly, there are many challenges regarding territory and resources. Smith states that since the beginning of European colonial domination in the Americas, that Indigenous peopleshave suffered and protested the continual loss of access to their land and resources in order to their place in this world. The twentieth century brought political and organizational innovations to support indigenous peoples attempts to recover and insure access to resources. Chase uses the example of Brazil, the Andean Amazon and parts of Central America, in which, the Indigenous peoples demands now focus on state recognition of their collective rights to a territory, which includes subsoil and surface resources. Smith emphasized that Latin American republics has usually limited the recognition of territorial rights for Indigenous peoples to those populations that are defined by law as indigenous. This often leaves out and marginalizes large Indigenous populations catalogued as peasant or as mestizo . According to Smith, this idea leaves out two important outcomes of those debates that go hand in hand. One being that all human beings have the right to define for themselves ... • 48. Coevolution And Evolutionary Responses At First Thought Coevolution and Evolutionary Responses At first thought, it might seem as if everything is involved in coevolution. This assumption might be drawn due to the fact that basically every organism interacts with another organism and possibly influences their evolution in some way. However, this assumption depends entirely on one s definition of coevolution. There are many other forms of evolutionary responses other than coevolution including: evolutionary relationships between antagonists, evolutionary equilibrium, genetic variation in competitive ability, and character displacement, all which will be discussed later on. In fact, all of these evolutionary responses revolve around the idea that interacting populations tend to evolve in response to features which affect evolutionary strength. First, species evolve in ways that improve, or at least maintain, their ability to live. Communities, however, do not undergo the same process. No community evolves as a unit. Species may evolve in ways that are mostly influenced by ecology. This means that species evolve by their relationship with one or a few species, which in turn allows the others to evolve as well. Coevolution is commonly described as a change in the genetic composition of one species, or group, in response to a genetic change in another and was coined by Ehrlich and Raven after observing plant herbivore interactions. Around the same time, Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species, which also spoke of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Characteristics Oedipus A King Myles Derr Topic 3 Some characteristics Oedipus shows while he is a king is his impatience, his ability to act rashly, and how quick he likes to take action. One example of this is on page 18 of The Oedipus Cycle when he says, What a wicked old man you are! You d try a stone s patience! Out with it! Oedipus says this after Teiresias refuses to tell him what he knows about the murderer of the previous king of Thebes. Instead of trying to persuade him further or just accept that Teiresias won t tell Oedipus what he wants to know, his impatience causes him to act rashly and start insulting the seer. Another example of Oedipus s tendency to act quickly appears on page 28 when Oedipus says to Creon, You murderer! Do you think I do not know that you plotted to kill me, plotted to steal my throne? Prior to their conversation, Oedipus asks his brother in law, Creon, to bring Teiresias to him so they may ask him what he knows. After Teiresias refuses to share what he knows with Oedipus, he eventually tells him that Oedipus is the murderer that he is seeking. Just from this, Oedipus quickly comes to the conclusion that Creon urged Teiresias to say this in order to usurp the throne. Another example of Oedipus s rashness appears on page 43 of The Oedipus Cycle, The groom leading the horses forced me off the road at his lord s command; but as this charioteer lurched over towards me I struck him in my rage . . . However, there is a form of discrimination that is often invisible to the public eye and did not even have a proper name until 1981 (FWD Forward). This form of discrimination affects many Americans everyday. This type of discriminationis known as ableism. Ableism is defined as the discrimination of disabled people in favor of able bodied people. Ableism is not as noticed or as mainstream as other forms of discrimination. Fifty four million Americans currently have some form of disability, yet the discrimination towards the disabled community is still out of focus in many aspects (HRFnd). While the United Statesof America has come a long with shaping civil rights for the disabled people, the country still has a long way to go. Issues that disabled people struggle with today include, unemployment, social isolation, and stereotypes that demean the disabled population. Most of these issues occurred due to assumptions regarding the reader s academic level or knowledge on the topic. For example: Boucher et al.
