How males/females are being portrayed on an RnB magazine
- 1. How males and females are conveyed in an RnB magazine
- 2. The men portrayed in an RnB magazine Before I start to create my music magazine, I have decided to research more about the genre and to also know how they view the men in the magazine. I have noticed that the guys have to put on a show (meaning that they have to look better than everyone else) and the use of costume and props, they like to make them wear heavy leather jackets, this makes them look more comfortable in the environment and strong. I am thinking of using some of these costume and props on my model, in my future music magazine maybe the double page spread. The magazine featuring Ludicris, using a camera to cover his eye he is deliberately creating an imitation of a gun, and also how it says he will 'shoot your ass' this shows the personality of an RnB male artists it shows the typical stereotypes.
- 3. The women portrayed in an RnB magazine From looking at the front cover, and seeing these two ladies somehow look very similar. Down below (Alicia Key’s/ Riana) They have their hair up high, and use shine spray, and they look brighter and look glossy on the front cover. The ladies they look more innocent than the men and are also less intimidating. High key lighting is applied more on the front cover of an RnB magazine when featuring females, probably to show that they are in a happy environment, and are in a good mood, and are nice to be around with. Another point that I had found out; is that they have to wear more accessories, than the men probably do, because in RnB magazines the key symbols that are mostly shown are gold necklaces which was used a lot back then by rappers- and this shows that are not going to change the original theme and will keep it the same.
