Target Audience
• ‘’There is only one winning strategy. It is to carefully define the target
market and direct a superior offering to the target audience’ Philip
Kotler, a marketing author.
• A target audience is a specific group of people with shared
characteristics who are most likely to be interested in your product or
service.
• Usually look at: Age, Gender, Profession, Ethnic background etc.
What is it?
Why is it important?
• Since creating a product that will reach everyone at one, narrowing
our focus to a core audience will help to create an effective marketing
strategy and lead to a successful media product.
How to define a T.A?
• This is where the audience research methods come into play:
• Interviews
• VoxPops
• Focus Groups
• Questionnaires
• Also by using these we then need to establish the Target Audience by:
• Age
• Gender
• Ethnic Background
• General Interests.
