Social Group
New Affluent Workers – This is the chosen social group I feel
fulfill the purpose of my Dance magazine most effectively.
 This youthful class group is economically secure
without being well off
 These people have high scores for emerging culture,
such as watching sport, going to gigs and using
social media
 They do not tend to participate in highbrow culture,
such as classical music and theatre
 People in this group are likely to come from a
working class background
 Many people in this group live in old manufacturing
centres of the UK in the Midlands and North West
A social group is a collection of
people who interact with each other
and share similar characteristics and
a sense of unity.
This class group is sociable, has lots of cultural interests and sits in
the middle of all the groups in term of wealth.
Front Cover Analysis
My feature article
photograph offers a
view of a 16 year old
female who boldly
represents an affluent
worker by her youthful
image and the
sunglasses portraying
the emerging culture of
dance and festival.
The name ELSYIUM
is defined as ‘a state
of happiness’. This
visually links in with
my social group as
affluent workers are
very socially wealthy
people whom tend
to make the most
out of life.
‘Ibiza Madness’ really
revels the true essence of
this social group. They don’t
so much participate in
highbrow culture events and
instead enjoy the active,
outgoing partying life.
The true reflection of
my culture I feel is
revealing in my colour
scheme. The manic
chaotic background
blends of varies colours
represents the state of
mind of a affluent
worker, and there
energized wild way of
Contents Analysis
The image of a mixer was placed purposely as
the affluent workers are more into practical
items rather than simple. It reflects on my genre
of ‘DJ’ and this piece of technology would be an
interest to this social group.
I purposely designed my layout this way
as due to affluent not being a highbrow
culture, it was important to consider the
way they study and read a article. From
my study, they like to take there time and
prefer simplistic to more complicated and
therefore this was how I produced it.
I referred to many different types of DJ’s
and musicians throughout my contents
page to effectively draw in this social
group considering they are the type of
artists they would be interested in.
Double Page Spread Analysis
The house style of my double page spread reflects on a very dark and mysterious theme,
conveying the view of my dance/house music genre. A typical affluent worker would get drawn in
to this type of style, due to there interest in emerging culture and practical interests. I purposely
produced it like this considering elements like colour scheme, font size and colour to appeal to
them.
My article content
is based on two
new and
upcoming clubs.
Affluent workers
are interested in
new and
successful
services and
products. I used a
interesting range
of vocabulary and
in doing so chose
words which I felt
were easily
understood but
yet appealing to
