HOW AN ARTEFACT IS MADE (Stage Design) –Abigail Faponle 10U

Props are useful for musicals, plays and performances. There are many things you need to
consider before making a prop, here are a few:

   - The prop must fit the production (it should appropriate and made to the directors
       vision.)
   - The prop should be recognisable from a distance (if it is not recognisable by the
situation or use it should be recognisable by appearance.)
   - Safety first and Comfort second (the safety of people all around including the cast and
audience should be considered at all times, then the comfort of how the prop can be
       used.)

Stage Design- The background is the main part of a set for it creates a scene of illusion of
a room or open space. The paint used for most scenery is casein which is a water-based
paint which can be used to make a load of colours and shades easily. To create a full stage
design you need a big canvas, a load of different paints and paint brushes and a vague idea
of the director’s perfect vision.
Costume- To make a costume you need to consider whether it is appropriate and the
comfort of it for the performer. Choose the right materials and make it the right size to fit the
performer. The costume must be flexible and able to move in as the performer will most
probably be moving around a lot whether it be acting, singing or dancing.
