Food Most festivals tend to have food being sold or given freely, these foods can be of different types and from different cultures depending on what type of festival it is. Performances Every good festival has at least one performance. Music festivals usually have many live performances from known bands, musicians or artists. This is one of the main attractions to a festival. Other festivals can contain performances from dance groups, comedians, actors etc. Films Rides Shops Campaigns Not all festivals are outdoor, some festivals such as film festivals are indoor like movie theatres or screening venues. The films may have been of recent date depending on the focus of the festival it can also include international releases. Many festivals have stalls or actual shops where objects, ornaments, toys, t-shirts or music can be sold separately to the public who attend the festival. The items sold are mainly to do with the festival, for example a t-shirt with music notes may be sold at a music festival with a specific band playing. A fair amount of festivals have a number of rides. Most young people festivals have rides as fairground rides mostly entertain the younger generation. Festivals are the main venue where campaigns are held. With the large amount of people that festivals attract. Campaigns use festivals as a great place to get the public informed or aware of their campaign topic.

National Festivals National festivals are mainly celebrated as occasions rather than international festivals. What separates national festivals from others is the number of levels they happen at. National festivals are ordered by the government to honour founding events or heroes, such as Bastille Day (14 July) in France.
Baisakhi Festival Early morning of Baiskhai Festival in Punjab, people take dip in holy rivers. Cries of "Jatta aai Baisakhi" rent the skies as the people of Punjab attired in their best clothes break into the Bhangra dance to express their joy. The dancers and drummers challenge each other to continue the dance. The scenes of sowing, harvesting, winnowing and gathering of crops are expressed through zestful movements of the body to the accompaniment of ballads. Both men and women, celebrate the day with Bhangra and Gidda. Fairs are organized at various places in Punjab, where besides other recreational activities. Baisakhi celebrations are very important and spectacular for Sikhs. The festival is described to display the true spirit of Punjab and mark the arrival of harvesting season. Baisakhi has a special meaning for Sikhs. Guru Amar Das had first institutionalized Baisakhi in 1567 as one of the special days when all Sikhs would gather to receive the guru's blessings at Goindwal.
