10. What is Hotel Industries ???
The hotel industry is the section of the service industry that deals with guest
accommodation or lodgings. By most definitions, the hotel industry refers not
only to hotels, but also to many other forms of overnight accommodation,
including hostels, motels, inns and guest houses. However, it does not usually
include long-term or permanent forms of accommodation.
With opening up of the Indian economy after 1991 and the adoption of
globalization, there has been a steep rise in the operational activities of various
sectors that were earlier dormant. One of the best examples of this is the
hospitality industry. The sectors in hospitality services include travel and tourism,
and hotel industry. The other industries included in this sector are food and
service management, leisure, bars, night clubs, amusement parks, motels,
hostels, restaurants, self-catering accommodation, holiday centers and travel
agents.
