In the world that's ever changing, there is simply no better time than now. In this presentation that was designed and presented to the SIAT 381 class at Simon Fraser University, Stephanie goes through some current stats of the job market and how students can take control of their future.
Create a presence, build your brand online and offline, and wear your passion with pride. Find the people that are similar to you and make them a part of your club while still finding a way to be genuine and prominent in your chosen industry. Each one of us has a unique thumbprint, but with 7 billion people in the world today, how do you stand out?
In this presentation, I shared my experience in building my own brand and the different ways she did to make herself be recognized in the social media industry internationally.
"Building Your Brand Advocates: Listening, Engaging & Creating Your Brand Presence Using HootSuite"
Presentation prepared for OMG Social Media Conference 2013
On one sunny weekend of August 2012, a group of 150 enthusiasts got together to join Startup Weekend Vancouver. 52 hours later, we came up with 17 new startups. I was honoured to be a part of HaveUs to do a bit of their marketing research and the slide deck.
We often take daily conveniences in life for granted and overlook the fact that 1 in every 7 Canadians struggle with a disability.
I have been searching for a way to give back to something I am both passionate in and can relate to. When I was presented the opportunity to raise money for Easter Seals (an organization dedicated to fully enhancing the quality of life, self-esteem and self-determination of Canadians with disabilities), I was intrigued. On September 8th 2014, I will be rappelling down a 20 story building in efforts to raise money for a cause that is very dear to me.

Social Media 101 for Not-for-Profits [Webinar]Shai Coggins

oing, hosting or sending people on a staff exchange? This very efficient publication will help you avoid some traps and might even raise the overall quality of the exchanges you are working on.
The publication highlights the do’s and don'ts when sending, hosting and going on staff exchange. The knowledge was extracted from participants and organisers with experience from staff exchanges.
It covers aspects all the way from evaluation timing to “the perfect mindset”. It’s a short read but if you want to hit your theme straight away, here’s the pages you are looking for: Sending (pages 2-11), Participating (pages 12-22) and Hosting (pages 23-23).
On top of being a good informative read the publication will also double as a possible presentation if you want to describe the concept to the people in and around your organisation, just use the full screen option in adobe reader and click away.
The publication was produced during Engine Room Europe Staff Exchange Summer Camp 2013 in OZU – Officina Zone Umane in Monteleone Sabino, Italy.

Whether you think of this worksheet as a job aid or a checklist, it walks you through some of the critical thinking that you need to do when planning a speech. I've been a speechwriter for 10+ years, and developed this tool to help me stay on track with all the things that go into planning speaker remarks. It's greatest value, though, is that it's a good tool for collaborating with your speaker.
I've been working in higher ed for a decade or so, and typically work with those who are speaking about donor-related topics, so you'll see that reflected in the way that this worksheet is structured.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
