Hong Kong is a special administrative region located on the eastern side of the Pearl River estuary in China. It has a population of over 7 million people and its three main cities are Victoria City, Kowloon, and New Kowloon. Hong Kong has a mix of Chinese and British influences and is described as the place where East meets West. Some popular traditional aspects of Hong Kong include Cantonese cuisine, feng shui, and Chinese traditions.

Where is it?
Hong Kong is located on China's south coast, 60 km (37 mi) east of
Macau on the opposite side of the Pearl River Delta. It is surrounded by
the South China Sea on the east, south, and west, and borders the
Guangdong city of Shenzhen to the north over the Shenzhen River.

Origins and history:
Hong Kong began as a coastal island
geographically located off the southern coast of China. While pockets of
settlements had taken place in the region with archaeological findings dating
back thousands of years, regular written records were not made until the
engagement of Imperial China and the British Colony in the territory.

City of Victoria, was one of the first urban settlements in Hong Kong after it
became a British colony in 1842. It was initially named Queenstown but was
soon known as Victoria. It is often said to be the capital of Hong Kong,and

with the surrounding environment.
