This document provides an overview of agriculture and cotton production. It introduces the author, who grew up surrounded by animals in rural Australia and obtained a degree in agricultural science. Cotton is described as being everywhere due to its many uses. The production process is summarized in four steps: 1) Cotton is planted and grows into a plant, 2) Flowers form and produce bolls which are picked, 3) Pickers harvest the cotton which is compacted into modules, and 4) Ginning separates the seed from the fiber which is then baled, graded, and exported or used to make various cotton products. Modern machinery now performs harvesting and baling in a single pass to increase efficiency.
