Da'wah, as we know, is an obligation upon every Muslim man and woman. The Holy Qur'an tells us Da'wah is the most favorite act loved by Allah (swt). Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Oh Children of Israel! Remember MY Favour which I
bestowed upon you, and fulfill (your obligations to) MY
COVENANT (with you) so that I fulfill (MY Obligations to) your
COVENANT (with ME), and fear none but ME.

Children of Israel! Remember the grace I gave you and be
faithful to the ALLIANCE you concluded with ME. Then, I will
be faithful to the one I concluded with you. Fear ME, then,
and only ME!

Oh Children of Israel! call to mind the (special) favour which
I bestowed upon you, and fulfil your COVENANT with ME as I
fulfil MY COVENANT with you, and fear none but ME.

And We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture and made it a
Guidance for the Children of Israel (saying): "Take not other
than ME as (your) Wakil (Protector, Lord, or Disposer of your
affairs, etc).

We gave Moses the Scripture and made it an Guide for the
Children of Israel: «Do not take a guard outside of ME,
• Yusuf Ali:
We gave Moses the Word 📜 (Scroll, Book), and made it a
Guide to the Children of Israel, (commanding): "Take not
other than ME as Disposer of (your) affairs."

And indeed We gave the Children of Israel the Scripture,
and the understanding of the Scripture and its laws [ Torah ],
and the Prophethood; and provided them with good things,
and preferred them above the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns) (of
their time, during that period),

We gave the Children of Israel the Scripture, the judgment
and the Prophecy. We provide them with good things and
distinguish them among all peoples.

We did aforetime grant to the Children of Israel the Word 📜

We gave them, for Sustenance, things good and pure; and
We favoured them above the nations.

8. َيلِج%نِ ۡٱإل ُهَٰنۡيَتاَءَو ِۖ%ةٰىَۡروَّت%لٱ َن%%ِم ِۡهيَد%َي َ ۡ%نيَب اَ ِّمل ٗاقِّد َ%صُم َم%َيۡر%َم ِۡنبٱ ى َيسِ%عِب %م%ِهِر%َٰثاَء ٰٓىَل%%َع اَنۡيَّفَقَو
َنيِقَّتُۡملِّل ٗةَظِۡعوَمَو ٗىدُهَو ِٰةىَۡروَّتٱل َنِم ِۡهيَدَي َ ۡنيَب اَ ِّمل ٗاقِّد َصُمَو ٞروُنَو ٗىدُه ِيهِف
• Muhsin Khan and Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali:
And in their footsteps, We sent 'Iesa (Y’Shua, Jesus), son of
Maryam (Mary), Confirming the Taurat (Torah) that had
come before him, and We gave him the Injeel (Gospel), in
which has Guidance and Light and Confirmation of the
Taurat (Torah) that had come before it, a Guidance and an
admonition for Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V. 2:2).
• Julio Cortes:
We made them happen to 'Iesa Y’Shua son of Maryam in
Confirmation of what was already of the Torah. We gave
him the Gospel, which contains Direction and Light, in
Confirmation of what was already of the Torah and as
Direction and Exhortation for the fearful of Allah ELohim.
• Yusuf Ali:
And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary,
Confirming the Law [ Torah ] that had come before him: We
sent him the Gospel: therein has Guidance and Light, and
Confirmation of the Law [ Torah ] that had come before him:
a Guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah
ELohim.
9. [ Surah 5:46: 5 Al-Ma'idah, Ayah 46 ]
ۡتَّ%مَتَو ۖاَه%ي%ِف اَنۡكَ%رَٰب يِ%تَّلٱ اَه%َبِرَٰغ%%َمَو ِۡضرَ ۡٱأل َقِر%%%%%َٰشَم َنوُفَع ۡضَت ۡسُي ْا%وُن%ا%َك َن%يِ%ذَّلٱ َمۡوَقۡلٱ اَنۡثَۡروَأَو
ُنۡو%%%%%َعۡر%%%%%ِف ُعَن ۡصَي َن%ا%%%%َك %ا%%%%َم %ا%%%َنۡر%%%%%َّمَدَو ْۖاوُرَب%%%%%%%%%%%%َص اَ%م%%%%ِب َ%ل%%%يِءَٰٓر ۡسِإ ٓيِ%ن%%%َب ٰىَل%%%%%َع ٰىَن ۡسُۡحلٱ َ%ك%%%ِّبَر ُتَمِ%ل%%%%َك
َنو ُشِرۡعَي ْاوُناَك اَمَو ۥُهُمۡوَقَو
• Muhsin Khan and Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali:
And We made the people who were considered weak to
inherit the eastern parts of the land and the western parts
thereof which We have Blessed. And the fair Word of your
Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel, because of their
endurance. And We destroyed completely all the great works
and buildings which Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his people erected.

And we gave in inheritance to the people who had been
humiliated the eastern and western lands, which We have
Blessed. And the beautiful Promise of your Lord to the
Children of Israel was fulfilled, for having had patience. And
we destroyed what Pharaoh and his people had done and
what they had built.

10. And We made a people, considered weak (and of no
account), inheritors of lands in both East and West, - lands
whereon We sent down Our Blessings. The fair Promise of
thy Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel, because they
had patience and constancy, and We levelled to the ground
the great works and fine buildings which Pharaoh and his
people erected (with such pride).

ٗافيِفَل ۡمُكِب اَنۡئِج ِةَرِٓخ ۡٱأل ُدۡعَو َءآَج اَذِإَف َۡضرَ ۡٱأل ْاوُنُك ۡٱس َيلِءَٰٓر ۡسِإ ٓيِنَبِل ۦِهِۡدعَب ۢنِم اَنۡلُقَو
• Muhsin Khan and Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali:
And We said to the Children of Israel after him: "Dwell in the
land, then, when the final and the last Promise comes near
[i.e. the Day of Resurrection or the descent of Christ [ 'Iesa
Y’Shua (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) on the earth ]. We
shall bring you altogether as mixed crowd (gathered out of
various nations). [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 10, Page 338]

And, after him, we said to the Children of Israel: "Inhabit the
earth and, when the Promise of the next life is fulfilled, we will
take you in droves."

And We said thereafter to the Children of Israel, "Dwell
securely in the land (of Promise)": but when the second of
the warnings came to pass, We gathered you together in a
mingled crowd.

• Muhsin Khan and Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali:
And this Quran is not such as could ever be produced by
other than Allah ELohim (Lord of the heavens and the earth),
but it is a Confirmation of (the Revelation) which was before
it [i.e. the Taurat (Torah), and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.], and a
full explanation of the Word 📜 (Scroll, Book) (i.e. laws and
orders, etc, decreed for mankind) - wherein there is no doubt
from the the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that
exists).

12. This Qur'an cannot have been invented by anyone outside of
Allah ELohim. Not only that, but it comes to Confirm the
previous Messages and explain in detail the Scripture, free
of doubts, that comes from the Lord of the universe.
• Yusuf Ali:
This Qur'an is not such as can be produced by other than
Allah ELohim; on the contrary it is a Confirmation of
(Revelations) that went before it, and a fuller explanation of
the Word 📜 (Scroll, Book) - wherein there is no doubt -

Indeed in their stories, there is a lesson for men of
understanding. It (the Quran) is not a forged statement but a
Confirmation of the Allah ELohim's existing Word 📜
(Scrolls, Books) [ the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)
and other Scriptures of Allah ELohim ] and a detailed
13. explanation of everything and a Guide and a Mercy for the
people who believe.

And believe in what I have sent down (this Quran),
Confirming that which is with you, [ the Taurat (Torah) and
the Injeel (Gospel)], and be not the first to disbelieve therein,
14. and buy not with MY Verses [ the Taurat (Torah) and the
Injeel (Gospel) ] a small price (i.e. getting a small gain by
selling MY Verses), and fear ME and ME Alone. (Tafsir At-
Tabari, Vol. I, Page 253).

Believe in what I have revealed in Confirmation of what you
have received! Do not be the first to not believe in it, nor
curse MY Signs! Fear ME, then, ME. and only to ME!

1 hkdha qal Allah 'iilawhima: lahaz ma hu sawab wafeal ma
hu eadil ; sayati khalasi qrybana , wasayatimu alkashf ean
khalasi.
1 Thus said Allah ELohim: Observe what is Right and do
what is Just; For soon MY Salvation shall come, And MY
deliverance be Revealed.
ִיתָקְדִצְ ו ָבוֹאל ִיתָﬠְשׁוּי ָהבְרוֹקִי־כּ ָהקָדְצ ֲשׂוּﬠַו ָטפְּשִׁמ ְרוּמִשׁ ָהֹוהְי ַרמָא ֹהכּ א
ָלוֹת׃גִּהְל
2 وال %بتسال %حفظي %نم :%ليهع %ثبتي %ذيلا %لج%رلا ، %ذاه %فعلي %ذيلا %لج%رلا %وه %سعيدلا
شر أي فعل من يده ويمنع ، .يفسدها
2 alsaeid hu alrajul aldhy yafeal hdha , alrajul aldhy yuthbit
ealayha: min yahfaz alsabt wala yufsidha , wayamnae yadah
man faeal 'ayu sharin.
16. 2 Happy is the man who does this, The man who holds fast
to it: Who keeps the Shabbat and does not profane it, And
stays his hand from doing any evil.
ָדוֹי ֵרמֹשְׁו ְלוֹלַּחֵמ ָתבַּשׁ ֵרמֹשׁ ָהּבּ ִיקֲזחַי ָםדָאֶן־בוּ ֹאתזֶּה־שֲׂﬠַי ֱנוֹשׁא יְֵרשַׁא ב
ע׃ָָל־רכּ ֲשׂוֹתﬠֵמ
3 %ن%%%ع %ي%%%ن%يبعد%%%س %يم%%%ه%و%%%لإ "اهلل ، %يم%%%ه%و%%%لإ %اهلل%%%ب %فسه%%%ن %زم%%%لأ %ذي%%%لا ، %نبي%%%جاأل %قول%%%ي ال
ذابلة شجرة "أنا ، يقول الخصي تدع وال ؛ "."شعبه
3 la yaqul al'ajnabiu , aldhy 'alzam nafsih bi Allah 'iilawhim ,
"Allah 'iilawhim sayabeaduni ean shaebiha" ; wala tade
alkhasiu yaqul , "anaa shajaratan dhabilata".
3 Let not the foreigner say, Who has attached himself to
Allah ELohim, “Allah ELohim will keep me apart from His
People”; And let not the eunuch say, “I am a withered tree.”
ַמּוֹﬠ ַלﬠֵמ ָהֹוהְי ִיַנלִידְּבַי ֵלדְּבַה ֹרמֵאל ָהֹוהְֶל־יא ָהְולִַנּה ָרכֵַנּהֶן־בּ ַרמֹאיַל־אְ ו ג
ֵשׁ׃בָי ֵץﬠ ִיֲנא ֵןה יסִָרסַּה ַרמֹאיַל־אְו
4 %ذيلا ، %بتسال %لديب %حفظوني %ني%ذلا %لخصيانل %بةس%النب %ام"أ :%يمه%ولإ اهلل %الق %كذاه
[]التوراة بعهده وأتمسك أشتهي ما اختار -
17. 4 hkdhaan qal Allah 'iilwhym: "ama balnsbt lilkhisyan aladhin
yahfuzun baladaya alsabt , aldhy aikhtar ma 'ashtahi
wa'atamasak bieahdih [ altwra ] -
4 For thus said Allah ELohim: “As for the eunuchs who keep
MY Shabbatot, Who have chosen what I desire And hold fast
to MY COVENANT [ THE TORAH ] —
ֶרשֲׁאַבּ ֲרוּחָבוּ ַיתְתוֹבַּשֶׁת־א ְרוּמְשִׁי ֶרשֲׁא ִיםסיִָרסַּל ָהֹוהְי ַרמָא ֹהכִי־כּ ד
ִי׃תיְִרבִבּ ִיםקִיֲזחַמוּ ִיתְּצָפָח
5 أو %ناء%%%%%باأل %ن%%%%%م %ضل%%%%%فأ اً%م%%%%%سوا اًب%ص%%%%%ن ، %واري%%%%%سأ %ل%%%%%خودا %يتي%%%%%ب %ي%%%%%ف ، %طيهم%%%%%ع%أ%%%%%س
يهلك ال اًيأبد اًاسم لهم سأقدم ..البنات
5 sa'uetihim , fi munzili wadakhil 'aswari , nsbana wasmana
'afdal min al'abna' 'aw albanati. sa'uqdam lahum asmana
abdyana la yahlik.
5 I will give them, in MY HOUSE And within MY walls, A
monument and a name Better than sons or daughters. I will
give them an everlasting name Which shall not perish.
v’-na-ta-TEE la-HEM b’-vay-TEE uv-kho-mo-TAI YAD va-
SHAYM TOV mi-ba-NEEM u-mi-ba-NOT SHAYM o-LAM e-ten
LO a-SHER LO y’-ka-RAYT
18. ָםלעוֹ ֵםשׁ ָנוֹתבִּמוּ ִיםָנבִּמ טוֹב ֵםשָׁו ָדי ַיתֹמְחוֹבוּ ִיתֵיבְבּ ֶםהָל ִיתַּתְָנו ה
ת׃ֵָרכִּי ֹאל ֶרשֲׁא ֶן־לוֹתֶּא
6 %م%سا %حبوا%ي وأن ، %وه%م%د%خي أن ، %يم%ه%و%لإ %اهلل%ب %ون%م%لتز%ي %ن%ي%ذ%لا %ب%ن%ا%ج%أل%ل %بة%س%الن%ب %ا%مأ
%صمدون%ي %ن%ي%ذ%لوا ، %ده%سيف وال %بت%س%ال%ب %حتفظ%ي %ن%م %ل%ك - %ه%م%دا%خ %وا%ن%يكو%ل ، %يم%ه%و%لإ اهلل
[التوراة ] عميدي في -
6 'amma balnsbt lil'ajanib aladhin yaltazimun biAllah
'iilawhim , 'an yakhdumuh , wa'an yahibuu asm Allah
'iiluhim , liyakunuu khidamah - kl min yahtafiz bialsabt wala
yufsiduh , waladhin yasmidun fi eumidi [ altwra ] -
6 As for the foreigners Who attach themselves to Allah
ELohim, To minister to Him, And to LOVE the NAME of Allah
ELohim, To be His Servants — All who keep the Shabbat
and do not profane it, And who hold fast to MY COVENANT
[ THE TORAH ] —
לוֹ ְיוֹתהִל ָהֹוהְי ֵםשֶׁת־א ָהבֲהַאְלוּ תוְָֹרשְׁל ָהֹוהְַל־יﬠ ִיםְולִַנּה ָרכֵַנּה ֵיְנבוּ ו
ִי׃תיְִרבִבּ ִיםקִיֲזחַמוּ ְלוֹלַּחֵמ ָתבַּשׁ ֵרמֹשָׁל־כּ ִיםדָבֲﬠַל
7 %يب%ح%تر%لا %جب%ي .%ي%ت%ال%ص %يت%ب %ي%ف %ون%ح%فر%ي %هم%عوأد %ي%س%د%ق %بل%ج %ى%لإ %م%ه%ضر%ح%أ%س
%صالةلا %يتب %مسا %ليهع %طلقُي %يتيب ألن .%ايب%زم %يف %همت%ضحياتو %ةق%حترملا %همض%عروب
الشعوب لجميع ".
19. 7 sa'ahduruhum 'iilaa jabal qudsiin wa'adeihim yafrahun fi
bayt salaty. yjb altarhib bieurudihim almuhtaraqat
watadhiatihim fi mizbay. li'ana bayti yutlq ealayh aism bayt
alsalat lajamie alshueub ".
7 I will bring them to MY sacred mount And let them Rejoice
in MY HOUSE OF PRAYER. Their burnt offerings and
sacrifices Shall be welcome on My mizbayach; For MY
HOUSE shall be called A HOUSE OF PRAYER for ALL
peoples.”
ֶםהֵיחְבְִז ו ֶםהֵיתֹלעוֹ ִיתָלִּפְתּ ֵיתבְבּ ִיםתְּחַמִּשְׂו ִישְׁדָק ַרהֶל־א ִיםתִיאוֹבֲהַו ז
ִים׃מַּﬠָהָל־כְל אֵָרקִּי ָהלִּפְתֵּית־בּ ִיתֵיב ִיכּ ִיחְבְִּזמַל־ﬠ צוֹןְָרל
8 %معوا%جت %ن%مل %ثر%كأ %تمع%ج%أ%س" :%يل%ئ%را%سإ %ت%ق%ر%ف %مع%جي %ذي%لا ، %يم%ه%و%لإ اهلل %علن%ي %كذا%ه
."بالفعل
8 hkdha yuelin Allah 'iilawhim , aldhy yajmae faraqt
'iisrayiyla: "s'ajtamie 'akthar liman tajamaeuu bialfieal".
8 Thus declares Allah ELohim, Who Gathers the Dispersed
of Yisrael: “I will Gather still MORE to those already
Gathered.”
20. ָיו׃צָבְּקְִנל ָיולָﬠ ֵץבַּקֲא עוֹד ֵלאְָרשִׂי ֵיחְדִנ ֵץבַּקְמ ִהְהוי ָיֹנדֲא ֻםאְנ ח

HERE IS ALLAH ELOHIM'S PROMISE:
1 %لهاحوسي ، %رىخأ %رةم %يلئ%راسإ %يختارسو ، %عقوبي %نع %عفوي %وفس %يمه%ولإ اهلل %كنل
يعقوب ببيت ويلتصقوا لهم الغرباء وينضم .أرضها .على
1 lkna Allah 'iilawhim sawf yaefu ean yaequb , wasayakhtar
'iisrayiyl maratan 'ukhraa , wasayahiluha ealaa 'ardaha.
wayandam alghuraba' lahum wayaltasiquu bibayt yaequba.
1 But Allah ELohim will pardon Ya’akov, and will again
choose Yisrael, and will settle them on their own soil. And
21. strangers shall JOIN them and shall CLEAVE to the House of
Yaakov.
KEE y’-ra-KHAYM a-do-NAI et ya-a-KOV u-va-KHAR OD b’-
yis-ra-AYL v’-hi-nee-KHAM al ad-ma-TAM v’-nil-VAH ha-
GAYR a-lay-HEM v’-nis-p’-KHU al BAYT ya-a-KOV
ָהְולְִנו ָםתָמְדַאַל־ﬠ ָםחִיִנּהְו ֵלאְָרשְִׂיבּ עוֹד ַרחָבוּ ֹבקֲﬠֶַת־יא ָהֹוהְי ֵםחְַרי ִיכּ א
ֹב׃קֲﬠַי ֵיתבַּל־ﬠ ְחוּפְּסְִנו ֶםהֵילֲﬠ ֵרגַּה

بالرحيل للناس .يسمح
21 waqal Allah 'iilawhim limushi: "endama taeud 'iilaa misr ,
taraa 'anak taemal 'amam fireawn kl al'aejubat alty wadaeatha
22. fi hudud qutik. wamae dhlk , sawf 'ashadu qalbah hataa la
yasmah lilnaas bialrahil.
21 And Allah ELohim said to Moshe, “When you return to
Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the marvels
that I have put within your power. I, however, will stiffen his
heart so that he will not let the people go.
ִיםתְפֹמַּהָל־כּ ֵהאְר ָהמְיְַרצִמ ָשׁוּבל ְָךתְּכֶלְבּ ֶהשֹׁמֶל־א ָהֹוהְי ֶרמֹאיַּו כא
ַחלַּשְׁ י ֹאלְו ִבּוֹלֶת־א ֵקזַּחֲא ִיֲנאַו ֹהעְַרפ ֵיְנפִל ָםתִישֲׂﬠַו ֶָךדְָיב ִיתְּמַשֶׂר־שֲׁא
ָם׃ﬠָהֶת־א
22 عليم اهلل يقول هكذا للفرعون تقول .ثم
املولد ابني هو .يسرائيل
22 thuma taqul lilfireawn hkdha yaqul Allah ealimun.
yasrayiyl hu abnay almulid.
22 Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says Allah ELohim:
Yisrael is MY first-born Son.’
v’-a-mar-TA el par-OH KOH a-MAR a-do-NAI b’-NEE v’-kho-
REE yis-ra-AYL
23. ֵל׃אְָרשִׂי יִֹרכְב ִיְנבּ ָהֹוהְי ַרמָא ֹהכּ ֹהעְַרפֶּל־א ָתְַּרמָאְו כב
