2. • Before we had the technology of making films longer than
20 minutes, (19th century and before), There was only
enough technology for making short films ranging from 15-
20 minutes.
• The very first short film was shown through slide shows
and was able to be visualized through a Kinetoscope which
is a peep-show like device for individual viewing. Most of
which projected films about celebrities , current affairs
etc.etc.

3. • In the early 1900’s improvement in technology allowed
film makers to produce longer, multi shot films.
4. • In the first decade of the 20th century , film makers advanced even more in
film making, prolonging the already upgraded length of their films.
• This birthed the term “Feature Films”. These were regarded more as a
respectable form of art rather than their previous short film creations.

time that it was

• Due to rise in popularity the finance and organization
department ended up overwhelmed. Therefore another
rise in popularity began for another genre of short film.
Animated films, having already broadcasted in the 30’s
now after all this it blew up in the 50’s and 60’s.
7. The 90’s
• A revival of the traditional short films , due to finance departments coming
back on track. Further developed technology than ever before, it was much
easier and in fact cheaper to make short films.
8. Modern And Post Modern Shorts
• Thus began the creation of
online streaming websites such
as Youtube, Vine , Vimeo etc.etc.
Short films have taken a rapid
incline in adoration and
popularity once again.
• These websites have become a
perfect source for short film
makers due to the freedom of
expression and various levels of
video and frame quality that the
internet offers.
