Accounting for virtual resources provides quantified data that is valuable for accountability and value creation. However, high-speed accounting faces challenges including very high data volumes, loss of information granularity, and balancing costs and benefits across multiple stakeholders under different legal jurisdictions. While reliable accounting is key to enabling accountability and value networks, the technical and managerial feasibility of high-speed accounting systems must also be considered.
