Ida has learned from the care team how to identify and treat Joel's asthma attacks at home. It has been 6 months since Joel's last hospital visit thanks to the support of his dedicated care team.
Join Joel's Care Team
1) Joel was hospitalized six times in his first year of life due to respiratory issues caused by formula seeping into his lungs. He relied on a breathing tube and his family experienced stress.
2) Joel is now 17 months old and his care team at Ravenswood Family Health Center (RFHC) helped him stay healthy. His care team includes a pediatrician, health coach, dentist, enrollment counselor, and his mother Ida.
3) RFHC's care teams have helped over 4,600 kids and 12,000 total patients receive care. The care teams work to teach self-care, provide access to insurance, and help families avoid future health issues and hospital visits.

Dr. Indira H. Sahajwalla was a retired senior chief medical officer who proposed changes to the Consumer Protection Act 1986 in India, including raising the application time from 15 to 30 days and allowing cases to be dealt with at the district level. December 21, 2013, is the anniversary of a day that Paige can’t remember. In fact, she
can’t remember a full two weeks after this day, as she was in a medically induced slumber.
Concerned family watched as she lay in isolation, hallucinating and tossing and turning, her
blood count plummeting. Today, she enthusiastically announces this day as her “re-birthday.”
Paige, 52, her husband, and her three adult daughters live in Hemet, California. She
addresses her family’s illnesses with a holistic attitude, viewing diet, exercise, and spirituality as
having as much healing potential as pharmaceutical drugs. She values doctors who share this
perspective, yet who are also aggressive and candid. Her approach to medicine reflects a union
between the Western biomedical model and the growing trend of favoring natural and organic
remedies seen among the upper/middle-class public. Until the summer of 2008, she was
unaware of just how much these professional qualities would mean to her.
Summer was vacation time when Paige worked at a local public school. Yet, as a self-
described “Type A personality,” she liked to keep herself busy with other activities. However,
Paige soon became aware that she was unusually tired and requested a blood test from her
doctor. The results came back that she was intensely anemic. She was given a prescription and
changed her diet to include iron-rich foods.
By July, she had developed a painful lump on the back of her right knee, which was
diagnosed as a torn muscle. But the lump was still there when school started in August. While
supervising a detention class, Paige stood up from her seat, heard a popping noise, and
collapsed to the ground. By the time a student had gotten help, her knee had swollen to three
times its original size. Managing the pain long enough to wait for a friend to drive her to the
hospital, Paige received an MRI and a leg brace on the assumption that she had torn her ACL.
Two days later, she received a phone call from her doctor requesting an immediate
appointment. He would even keep the office open late until Paige and her husband were

available. It just had to be that day. That night, they were told that the MRI revealed
deterioration in the bones of her knees. Taken with her anemia, these were signs of bone
cancer.
Two weeks after a referral to a hematologist and a bone marrow biopsy, she was
diagnosed with myelofibrosis with pernicious anemia, a serious and rare bone marrow cancer.
The hematologist explained to her that the bone marrow is like a blood factory, and Paige’s was
so scarred that it wasn’t producing any. Her body was a machine with a broken part. An
abnormal blood-producing stem cell had multiplied and replaced the bone marrow with scar

There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

- 2. We all are hopeful that if Jaden is able to continue on with this treatment he will recover just like the others. Jaden cant’s speak, walk or move but it wasn't always that way. Jaden Hayes (5 years) had a near drown and was without a heartbeat for an hour on that day. In fact, the ICU Doctors told her to prepare to donate his organs. But Jaden woke up. However he woke up with some serious issues. He is unable to speak, walk or eat food by mouth. He was in the hospital for over a month, and as soon he as was released we immediately started physical therapy, speech therapy and hyperbaric oxygen treatment. And he has started that along with physical therapy 5 days a week since April 2010. Jaden's therapist Ray Cralle of Cralle Physical therapy in Delray Beach, Florida has been treating patients with similar conditions for 30 years and he is well known for using unconventional methods to help heal the brain.

- 4. This is Jaden’s story Jaden’s mother is on a crusade to raise the fund needed for Jaden in order to carry out his expensive hyperbaric oxygen treatment and stem cell treatment.
- 5. The treatment After the first treatment in may 2011- august 2011 Dr. Maxfield the radiologist who reads Jaden’s spec scans reported that there was a significant improvement in certain areas of Jaden’s brain and he recommended that Jaden gets more stem cell treatment and the hyperbaric oxygen.
- 6. Jaden’s mother Tanya has Aetna insurance and they did pay for that treatment up until January 2012. Tanya is a small self employed Realtor and a private policy is the only kind which she can get. The stem cell treatment is mighty costly $50,000 which is a lot when the insurance will not cover it. The insurance will not cover it and it’s still considered experimental for Jaden's condition. Jaden was able to get a second stem cell treatment this past September 2012.
