Questions from Michele Geeting
What admirable figure from history, or the present, motivates you toward positive personal and/or social change?
Amy Goodman has been a motivating person for me. Ms. Goodman is a journalist and host of Democracy Now. On her program, reports, intellectuals, and innovative leaders discuss what is happening and how society can make changes that benefit the collective.
What characteristics about this individual stand out?
Ms. Goodman is dedicated, compassionate, brave, ethical, and relentless. She is typically on every day giving citizens an alternative to corporate media, providing an invaluable service to society.
How do the actions of the person impact you?
Amy Goodman broadcasts every morning in an effort to inform anyone who wants to watch about current domestic and International issues and affairs. Ms. Goodman’s dedication to the truth, reminds me of the responsibility that intellectuals have to use their education in the service of the disadvantaged using a social justice perspective when in doubt of the right course of action.
In what ways you are similar to this person and what ways are you are different?
I am similar to Amy Goodman in that I believe in speaking truth to power and fighting for accountability while aspiring to the best that we can be through the attention and focus on the collective good.
I am different in that I do not have the venue to be as effective as I would like to be towards this goal.
How did this person’s actions impact the culture in which he or she lived?
Amy Goodman is a model in the journalistic community of integrity and strength of conviction to ethical reporting. Ms. Goodman interviews many who oppose the current status quo modeling the ethos of investigative journalism and by showing the importance of hearing and listening to different voices.
Is there a personal impact on your motivation, perspective(s) or goals due to this person’s achievements?
My personal motivation for research and my direction for ethical actions have been impacted by Ms. Goodman and the guests that I have witnessed for approximately 15 years. She is an amazing interviewer and a moral representative for all people and especially women to emulate.

I show some best in class examples and close with some impulses on where digital transformation be five years from now.
Your boss has an iPhone, so of course he wants an app. But does an app really make business sense? Or is a responsive design website enough?
And with hundreds of thousands of apps out there, what will make people choose and use yours? What makes a good mobile user interface? And how can you make sure your company actually delivers one?
Responsive design might make sense if you've got a content driven website. But how should your web team work together when every web page they are making needs to work at any width and resolution? And can you get the content under control to make pages that really make sense on small screens and big ones?

Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.

Did you ever wonder searching for the SOP – “Why don’t we have a google at work”
Have you never thought – “well can I just not ask my “phone” what is the production and why it is low
instead of calling someone at control room”
Did you ever think – “why I have one application for quality management, other for production and one
more for inventory? Can’t I have just one screen”
When you get a “WhatsApp” messages at work from your wife asking when you will be back

HelloPlant – curing the “dissociative digital life” of industrial workforce
Current demo version of HelloPlant is trained to answer
questions in a factoid format related to:
1. Quantity Produced in a shift or day
2. Information related to planned production vs. actual
production
3. Justification for low production
4. Answer to quality issues arise during the production shift
5. Provide information about the operating crews
6. Information related to equipment downtimes in the shift
User can ask questions to the trained model in natural
