What Types of Vendors Are Being Used for PHM Today?
53 unique vendors mentioned
70% of “mature” organizations report multiple PHM vendors
Here are the key findings from our ACO Timing report
The reality is setting in for most providers that fee for service will be coming to an end at some point in the future. The biggest question is when will organizations make the shift from fee for service to pay for performance.
We see things speeding up in terms of changing PHM culture (not ACO % of revenue)
Three waves (describe)
Motivations
No one really says they won’t
Good quote from an organization in the first wave of providers heading towards population health. It’s interesting to see how quickly attitudes are starting to change.
Here’s an interesting quote from an executive who is very transparent with where things are today for his organization. They know that accountable care is coming, but they are still living off the “fat of the land” in fee for service.
Going at risk is not an either/or proposition
Orgs want to take on more. Maybe become payers.
Today, most play it safe (shared savings with govt. and commercial payers)
When we ask about technology, mostly it’s about collecting, analyzing, and sharing clinical data
Differences between waves
1st Wave = care mgmt.
2nd Wave = PHA and Patient engagement
3rd Wave = PHA, HIE, Analytics
More information on the 53 vendors mentioned in our July perception report.
Most recent report was published in July 2014 and was a population health perception study. There were 53 vendors mentioned as helping with population health. Here is a quick list of who some of those vendors are. We’re seeing vendors that have historically been HIE vendors or BI vendors try to reinvent themselves as population health vendors.
