• GP. They treat most
common infections.
• Specialist. They treat
more specific infections
Diseases
Non-infectious diseases
Infectious diseases

Types of infectious
diseases:
- Bacteria
- Viruses
- Protozoans
- Fungi
Examples:
-tuberculosis, tetanus
and salmonellosis
-flu, measles, AIDS and
rubella.
-malaria, cholera and
amoebic dysentery.
-Athlete’s foot.

How are diseases
transmitted?
• By personal contact
• By droplet contact: flu
• by animal carriers: malaria
• By contamined objects: tetanus
• By contamined water: hepatitis and
cholera
• By contamined food: salmonellosis

Preventing infectious
diseases
Preventing non-
infectious diseases
Wash your hands Eat a balanced diet
Brush your teeth Do regular exercise
Wash raw fruits and
vegetables
Sleep 8-10 h
Keep your pets healthy Follow road safety rules
Clean cuts Respect yourself
