HEADLINES AND
COVERLINES
IDENTIFY THE HEADLINE, SUB-
HEADING AND COVER LINES
DESCRIBE THE FEATURES OF THE
HEADLINE AND IT’S SUB-HEADING
The headline is the name of the staring artist on the front cover who happens
to be Adele which is used to identify who the artist is if you don’t know who
she is and reinforce you to remember her name. The sub heading is
“HEARTBREAK SUPERSTAR” which is a catchy sub heading to promote and
“back up” the main headline.
WHO IS FEATURED IN THE COVER LINES
AND WHAT DEVICES DO THEY USE TO
ATTRACT THE AUDIENCE
The cover lines are shown in an image to the left. The
devices used to make them attract there target audience
are different font sizes to draw the audience in, and the use
of short, snappy story insights to give the reader something to
think about and to want to read on. Therefore buy the
magazine. For example one of the cover lines is “The Most
Hated Girl On The Internet”. This use of gossip attract readers
as they find it interesting and an exciting thing to read
about.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR MAGAZINE’S MAIN
HEADLINE? TRY OUT NEW SUB HEADINGS.
My magazines main headline will be the name of my “Star” artist Freya Stratford
because it’s the main article in my magazine and it reinforces her as a
hypothetical upcoming artist, giving her publicity which is what media does
best. My subheadings like the “Rolling Stones” magazine will back up my main
headline of “FREYA STRATFORD”. It will be something like “The Bad Girl Of Pop”
which I shall dub as her nickname, or something such as “NEW UPCOMING
STAR”.
WHO/WHAT WILL BE IN YOUR COVER
LINES? GIVE SOME EXAMPLES.
My cover lines will be short and catchy which would
hopefully interest reader and persuade them to read on
and buy the magazine. Some of my cover lines will list
artists that shall be mentioned in the magazine. For
example
“ARTISTS INCLUDE:
BRUNO MARS, THE VAMPS & MORE”
Also some other cover lines will include story lines that have
gossip within them that attracts my audience of female
teenagers who are very interested in pop gossip, especially
boy bands. So another cover line may be “One Direction
Heading in the Wrong Direction”.
