Migrating Single-Tenant Applications to Multi-Tenant SaaS (ARC326-R1) - AWS r...Amazon Web Services
The appeal of SaaS has many ISVs interested in the power and value of delivering their solutions in a SaaS model. However, moving a single-tenant application to a multi-tenant environment can be daunting. In this session, we'll look at the obstacles that many ISVs face as they consider the move to a SaaS delivery model. We'll explore a wide range of transformation patterns that cover everything from lift-and-shift of your monolith to an incremental cutover to multi-tenant aware microservices, data, and infrastructure. Along the way, we'll highlight the challenges and technical considerations that shape your solution and allow you to better align your transformed solution with SaaS best practices. This includes looking at all the new architectural elements you'll need to add to your environment to support SaaS (onboarding, identity, billing, metering, analytics, and so on).
Fundamental and Practice.
Explain about microservices characters and pattern. And also how to be good build microservices. And also additional the scale cube and CAP theory.

A GraphQL approach to Healthcare Information Exchange with HL7 FHIRSuresh KUMAR Mukhiya
Interoperability is accepted as a fundamental necessity for the successful realization of Healthcare Information Systems. It can be achieved by utilizing consistent standards defining syntactic and semantic meaning of the information being exchanged. HL7 FHIR is one of such open standards for Health Information Exchange (HIE). While HL7 FHIR supports Representational State Transfer (REST) architecture and Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) for seamless information exchange, it inherits the inflexibility and complexity associated with the RESTful approach. GraphQL is a query language developed by Facebook that provides promising techniques to overcome these issues. In this paper, we exploit the use of GraphQL and HL7 FHIR for HIE; present an algorithm to map HL7 FHIR resources to a GraphQL schema, and created a prototype implementation of the approach and compare it with a RESTful approach. Our experimental results indicate that the combination of GraphQL and HL7 FHIR-based web APIs for HIE is performant, cost-effective, scalable and flexible to meet web and mobile clients requirements.

This presentation introduces the idea of a "Minimal Viable Architecture". As a company and product evolves, its architecture should evolve as well. We talk about the different phases of a product -- from the idea phase, to the starting phase, scaling phase, and optimizing phase. For each phase, we discuss the goals and constraints on the business, and we suggest an appropriate software architecture to match. Throughout the presentation, we use examples from eBay, Google, StitchFix, and others.
How Rovio Uses Amazon CloudFront for Secure API Acceleration (CTD315) - AWS r...Amazon Web Services
Rovio uses Amazon CloudFront to accelerate and secure its game API infrastructure. CloudFront provides DDoS protection, caching to reduce latency, and future-proofing. Testing showed latency reductions of up to 58%. AWS WAF and Shield Advanced provide additional security and DDoS mitigation for CloudFront. This solution protects Rovio's business from outages and attacks on its API platform.
Governor limits in Salesforce enforce runtime limits on Apex code to ensure fair sharing of system resources among multiple tenants. The key governor limits include limits on the number of SOQL queries, records retrieved, and number of scripts executed. Governor limits are calculated based on the entry point for the Apex code, such as Apex triggers, web services, or anonymous blocks. Limits are shared across an organization and apply to all code executed within a synchronous transaction, while asynchronous code like future methods has separate limits. Developers must optimize code to avoid hitting governor limits, for example by bulkifying code, minimizing SOQL queries, and using future calls appropriately.

Extending Pandas using Apache Arrow and NumbaUwe Korn
With the latest release of Pandas the ability to extend it with custom dtypes was introduced. Using Apache Arrow as the in-memory storage and Numba for fast, vectorized computations on these memory regions, it is possible to extend Pandas in pure Python while achieving the same performance of the built-in types. In the talk we implement a native string type as an example.
The term "scale" for engineering often is used to discuss systems and their ability to grow with the needs of its users. This is clearly an important aspect of scaling, but there are many other areas in which an engineering organization needs to scale to be successful in the long term. This presentation discusses some of those other areas and details how Netflix (and specifically the API team) addresses them.
Behind the Scenes: Exploring the AWS Global Network (NET305) - AWS re:Invent ...Amazon Web Services
The AWS Global Network provides a secure, highly available, and high- performance infrastructure for customers. In this session, we walk through the architecture of various parts of the AWS network such as Availability Zones, AWS Regions, our Global Network connecting AWS Regions to each other and our Edge Network which provides Internet connectivity. We explain how AWS services such as AWS Direct Connect and Amazon CloudFront integrate with our Global Network to provide the best experience for our customers. We also dive into how the AWS Global Network connects to the rest of the Internet through peering at a global scale. If you are curious about how AWS network infrastructure can support large-scale cat photo distribution or how Internet routing works, this session answers those questions. Please join us for a speaker meet-and-greet following this session at the Speaker Lounge (ARIA East, Level 1, Willow Lounge). The meet-and-greet starts 15 minutes after the session and runs for half an hour.
Search Your DynamoDB Data with Amazon Elasticsearch Service (ANT302) - AWS re...Amazon Web Services
Both Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon ES are database technologies. Their strengths are different and complementary. DynamoDB is an excellent, durable store, providing high throughput at reliable latencies with nearly infinite scale. Elasticsearch provides a rich query API, supporting high throughput, low-latency search across numeric and string data and with a built-in capability of bringing relevant results for your queries. In this lab, we explore the joint power of these technologies. You deploy a DynamoDB table, bootstrap it with data, then using Dynamo Streams, replicate that bootstrapped data to Amazon ES. You use Elasticsearch's query language to query your data directly. Finally, you send updates to your DynamoDB table and use Elasticsearch analytics capabilities to monitor changes occurring in your table.
Event-driven serverless functions with Next.js and InngestDan Farrelly
Inngest is a developer platform that enables running reliable serverless background functions triggered by events or cron and deployed to any platform. It provides the best of queues and event streams by using an event stream with queues under the hood. Functions are broken into short steps that can each be retried independently if they fail, ensuring reliability. Functions can pause execution by waiting for additional events using step.waitForEvent(), allowing for coordination between events. Inngest also supports cron jobs, scheduling functions to run in the future, and processing high volumes of events like webhooks.

About VisualDNA Architecture @ Rubyslava 2014Michal Harish
Michal Hariš provides an overview of the evolution of VisualDNA's data architecture over the past 3 years. Originally, 10 people managed a single MySQL table holding 50M user profiles. They transitioned to using Cassandra and Hadoop to address scalability issues. Currently, they have a 120 person team using a lambda architecture with Java, Scala, Hadoop, Cassandra, Kafka, Redis, R and AngularJS. Real-time processing of 8.5k events/second is done alongside batch pipelines and machine learning. They have learned lessons around system design, testing, and remote collaboration while addressing challenges such as globally distributed APIs and bottlenecks in their data pipeline.

The Road Most Traveled: A Kafka Story | Heikki Nousiainen, AivenHostedbyConfluent
When moving to a cloud native architecture Moogsoft knew they needed more scale than Rabbit could provide. Moogsoft moved into Kafka which is known for quick writing and driving heavy event driven workloads on top of niceties such as replayability. Choosing the tool was easy, finding a vendor that ticked all their boxes was not. They needed to ensure scalability, upgradability, builds via existing IAC pipelines, and observability via existing tools. When Moogsoft found Aiven, they were impressed with their offering and ability to scale on demand. During this presentation we will explore how Moogsoft used Aiven for Kafka to manage and scale their data in the cloud.

Microservice Teams - How the cloud changes the way we workSven Peters
A lot of technical challenges and complexity come with building a cloud-native and distributed architecture. The way we develop backend software has fundamentally changed in the last ten years. Managing a microservices architecture demands a lot of us to ensure observability and operational resiliency. But did you also change the way you run your development teams?
Sven will talk about Atlassian’s journey from a monolith to a multi-tenanted architecture and how it affected the way the engineering teams work. You will learn how we shifted to service ownership, moved to more autonomous teams (and its challenges), and established platform and enablement teams.
