My View Of My Dream House
Generally, I revere everything in life, it illustrates a clear explanation of whom I want to become
in the future. The grade 10 students were introduced to the myp personal project and with this in
mind, I had many vital ideas executed but confused to choose a product that contributes to my
interests. I love learning and discovering new things. After many cups of coffee, I obtained an
idea or goal to create a three dimensional foam architectural model of my dream house. My family
built our own house in India last year and on viewing the stages of buildinga house became one of
my interest. I always wondered how the workers/builders managed to get the house in perfect shape
as the engineer contemplated. For instance,

His creation inspired many others in the architectural field and has become one of the seven
wonders of the world. My product should impress others and induce them in creating their own
dream house model. I have chosen to focus on the global context of orientation in space and
time. My areas of exploration will be on Homes and Journey . My project specifically deals with
the design and construction of a house in this modern world. I intend to focus on the engineer and
construction workers collaboration towards the completion of a perfect house. In this case, I will
be both the engineer and construction worker as I am going to design my floor plan and transform
it into a three dimensional figure. Based on my global context my question of inquiry is Why
humans should know how to manipulate architectural designs and common construction procedure
. To start out with this personal project I have decided to conquer this quote for my success in this
model, If you focus on design, you can call yourself a designer. If you focus on the implementation
of your design, you can call yourself an architect .(Cameron Sinclair, Architecturefor Humanity)
Before I begin my construction work, I need to know basic steps of an architectural model building.
So I Came up with some research questions that would help me throughout this project.

The most memorable dish was Vince s gnocchi; a plate full of light as air, tiny pillows of fresh

never tasted anything so divine. It was delicious. The men savored their well deserved, exquisite
dinner and wine engaged in happy conversation about the day s events. Stan was relieved to be

How do you feel? Do you have buyer s remorse? Are you kidding?! Vince answered. I have the

Opposition Death Penalty
The intent of this paper is to share the views of those who oppose capital punishment. I, for one,
am part of the majority that is in support of the death penalty. I am in agreeance of the old saying
of An eye for an eye . The death penalty is one of the most controversial issues in our criminal
justice system. There is an increase in opposition against the death penalty, not only in the United
States. Many Americans feel that capital punishmentis wrong. It is hard for people to fathom the
idea of putting someone else to death. It is not the physical mechanics involved in executions that
are hard to handle. It is the emotions involved in carrying out the process. Many feel that the death
penalty violates the eight Amendment of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Oppositionist feel that if a white or rich person committed the same crime would be sent away with
a lesser punishment or a slap on the wrist. Economic and racial bias is an argument that is made
across the board in our justice system. This is an argument that has caught the eye of many Civil
Rights unions. It has been said that with the use of capital punishment, violent crimes will be
reduced. This is the third argument. However, the opposition does not agree. There is no prove that
the rates of violent crimes have been reduced. The opposition argues that capital punishment does
not act as a deterrent for these crimes. They also argue that it is irreversible. The fourth and final
argument involves the amount of time that a prisoner spends on death row. Prisoners tend to spend
a lot of time on death row prior to executing day because retrials, technicalities, appeals, or other
delays. Due to those reasons the opposition argues that having a person wait for years for
execution is both costly and cruel. They feel that if a prisoner is going to wait that long then he or
she should be convicted of life imprisonment without the option of being

Social Changes in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe Essay
Social Changes in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe In the book Things Fall Apart, by
Chinua Achebe, we are able to read about the social changes the white missionaries had on an
African tribe. Mr. Achebe describes the way of life before the missionaries arrived and then
records some of the changes, which occurred due to the changed belief system introduced by these
missionaries. Soon after the missionaries began to teach the tribal people about the Christian faith,
their tribal customs began to be questioned. This caused a sense of unrest in the village. The
missionaries were trying to bring with them new ways of life, and mostly better ways of life.
Mr.Achebe tries to show us that the missionaries showed people who were hurt by... Show more

. For example, there was a girl named Nneka who had given birth to several sets of twins. She
left them in the forest as she had been taught to do. Mr. Achebe writes, ?Nneka had had four
previous pregnancies and child births. But each time she had borne twins they had been
immediately thrown away. Her husband and his family were already becoming highly critical
of such a woman and were not unduly perturbed when they found out she had fled to join the
Christians. It was a good riddance (pg.151). This shows us how Mr. Achebe understood what
was happening and wasn?t surprised when the women fled to the Christians. We can also see
his knowledge of this belief transformation happening in his village when he writes, ?and were
not unduly perturbed when they found out she had fled to join the Christians . This tells us that
he didn t really care about the people who left the tribe. He understood why they left but as he
said, ?it was a good riddance . From our point of view we can understand why the people who
were being hurt by the tribes belief system fled from the tribe in search of a better life. They
really had no choice if they didn?t want to live in fear and superstition. There are many examples
of people getting hurt in the Ibo tribe, like when Ikemefuna, the young boy, was sacrificed after a

According the 2010, Sustainability Report by the President and Chief Operating Officer of
Bombardier transportation (AndrГ© Navarri) [2], around the globe, everyone is faced with
significant challenges including global warming, resource scarcity, and high energy costs. Cities
continue to exhibit explosive growth, leading to the pressing need for more effective transportation
systems. Bombardier Transportation finds itself at the confluence of these environmental and social
challenges.

Customized products describe manufacturing in the Twenty first century. This has led to the
complex production planning and control systems making mass production of goods interesting.
Many organizations, particularly railway and automotive organizations, struggled in the new
customer driven and globally competitive markets. These factors present a big challenge to
organizations to look for new tools and methods to continue moving up the ladder in the changed
market situation [5]. This creates more problems for new companies that are eager to break into the
markets.
Supply chain is one of the critical aspects that can make or break any company. The research will
also concentrate on aspects of supply chain.

Bulimia Nervosa As A Mental Disorder
Bulimia Nervosa was first characterized as a mental disorder in 1979 by Gerald F.M. Russell.
Bulimia nervosa was initially a variant of anorexia nervosa, but now the disease has its own
symptoms, and is distinguished as a psychiatric condition (Palmer, 2005). Bulimia Nervosa seems
to occur in adolescents and women between the ages of 14 40. The percentage of men suffering
from the disease are about 10% (Farrar, 2014).
Patients suffering from the disease place an excessive importance in body image and weight loss.
They will consume an excessive amount of food and feel guilty about it. Then, they try different
methods of getting rid of the food they just consumed. Binge Eating disorder is a category of
Bulimia Nervosa and there are two subtypes of Binge eating disorder: Purging and Non purging.
Purging is the process where patients who suffer from Bulimia Nervosa try to get rid of the food
they consumed by using various methods. One of the most common methods is making themselves
vomit the food that they just purged. Others use laxatives as a means to get rid of the substances
(Smith and Segal,2015).
Patients who use the Non purging method tend to exercise excessively to lose weight, and they also
use fasting as a means to lose weight. They do not participate in the purging methods. They instead
use these methods to compensate for the purging (National Mental Health Institute, 2014).
The early diagnosis of Bulimia Nervosa was using the DSM III. The name that was given was

Media Stereotypes Essay examples
Media Stereotypes
Media stereotypes are inevitable, especially in the advertising, entertainment and news industries,
which need as wide an audience as possible to quickly understand information. Stereotypes act like
codes that give audiences a quick, common understanding of a person or group of people usually
relating to their class, ethnicity or race, gender, sexual orientation, social role or occupation.
Stereotypes are deeply embedded in every society in numerous ways. The dictionary definition of a
stereotype is one that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type. Stereotyping
or Labeling is a technique that attempts to arouse prejudices in an audience by labeling the object of
the propaganda campaign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Propoganda may seem like a topic of the past as opposed to a topic in the contemparary field of
studies. This is because propganda was always related to movements like Hitler and Stalin in the
1930s. Even though nothing of that scale exists today, propganda still can be as serious as the
swastika or a minor as a riddle. Its repititive and perasuasive techniques are found in all fields such
as politics, journalism and addvertising. As Anthony Pratkanis and Elliot Aronson point out:
Every day we are bombarded with one persuasive communication after another. These appeals
persuade not through the give and take of argument and debate, but through the manipulation of
symbols and of our most basic human emotions.
F or better or worse, ours is an age of propaganda. (Pratkanis and Aronson, 1991)
Apart from all other forms of media the growth of the internet since the 1990 s has had agreat
impact on the sudden explosion of communications where any kind of messages can be uploaded
uncensored to any kind of audience. For the first time in history people from all walks of live and
from every corner of the world are interacting on a new level. This is a magnificent development
but the negative repercussion is that it works against the people of color and support the

The Impact Of Electric Vehicles On The Future Of Electric...
Context and Background
Electric vehicles have been around far longer than their fossil fuel powered counter parts. They
have been popular as early as the late 19th century and the early part of the 20th century. One of
the best selling vehicles at the point was the Columbia Runabout, which could go 40miles on a
single charge and run at speed up to 25 kmph. They were initially considered a safer option when
compared to cars powered by fossil fuels, as initial ICI cars were prone to backfire. This all
changed with the mass production and the technological advancements when it came to ICE
(Internal Combustion Engines) [1]. When Ford started mass producing their cars and fuel prices
began to drop, advancements in electric vehicles came to a halt. There has been a slow resurgence
in interest for Electric vehicles from the late 70 s when the damage that the fossil fuel powered
cars were causing to the environment was slowly being understood. Yet the public acceptance of
electric vehicles has been less than enthusiastic. This can be attributed to the low prices of gasoline
and push by petroleum giants against electric car initiatives and public aversion to buying electric
cars owing to their high prices, their low resale value and lack of infrastructure for charging. But
with the recent success of Electric Vehicles in California and Estonia, it would be time to look at
ways to implement an infrastructure for Electric Vehicles in Australia and spread awareness among
the public.

Tax Reform Essay
An outrage over taxes founded this country. And for its first 123 years, the US of A managed
handsomely with zero income tax.
Abraham Lincoln interrupted that in 1862 to finance the Union Army. But its success was short
lived when an 1872 Supreme Court decision repealed federal income tax as unconstitutional.
We made it all the way to 1913 before it miraculously clawed its way out of the grave (see movie
The Revenant ) where federal income taxes became law. Congress ratified the constitution to pull it
off. From then on nothing changed until Ronald Reagan s monumental 1986 Tax Reform Act.
But as cleverly crafted as the 86 makeover was, it opened up a monstrous black hole, sucking

Middle classers don t provide themselves healthcare bennies. Corporations do.
Middle classers don t give themselves time off for family emergencies, extended vacays,

INSTEAD: say corporate is gifted to level the playing field with other countries we lost jobs to
so companies will come back to the U.S. bringing jobs with them. Wouldn t that be nice? Yes,
unless you factor in a massive outcry against helping the rich get richer. What middle classers
never get is, you shoot at the rich, you hit the poor. It s not how big one s paycheck is, as it is that. . .
Anything we can make of this for real estate?
Maybe this: the mother s milk to a thriving market is a reasonable policy protecting middle class
homeowners, who already pay 83% of all federal income taxes, from a loss in home value. Pray
that is where the focus is, because some talk on reforms could result in a 10+% loss in home
values, similar to the beating commercial values took in the 86 Tax Reform Act.

An Definition Of Moral Theory
Another moral theory, also born of Deontological Perspectives, comes from WD Ross. In contrast
to Kant, who stated that moral positions can be deduced by reason and are absolutely binding, Ross
believes that we determine moral positions through intuition of the rightness or wrongness on the
action. This intuition allows us to determine what our duties are while these duties are not
dependent on the outcomes or circumstances, but how we rank these duties is dependent on a
situation. In turn, this creates what Ross refers to as Prima Facieduties. Prima Facie duties are
duties that are obligatory duties that can be trumped by other duties depending on our situation.
Ross gives an example of seven of these prima facie duties in his writings: beneficence, non
maleficence, justice, self improvement, fidelity, reparation, and gratitude. These duties arise
because we intuit them to be true and binding duties. In Ross s view, all of these duties are
binding, but he does not exclude, as Kant does that these duties may overlap and run contrary to
one another in any given situation. We can only act in accordance with what our perception is of
the situation and try to do our best, but we may often fail as a result. While this theory is superior
to Kant in that it does allow for more universal applicability and wiggle room to fit various cultures,
the main issue with Ross s theory is that it relies on the intuition of flawed humans to determine self
evident duties and does not

The Tinker V. Des Moines Independent School District...
One of the most well known Supreme Cases involving student rights was the Tinker v. Des
Moines Independent School District decision of 1969. The verdict quickly became a precedent
for many other decisions involving school issues and is very relevant today. In December of
1965, students attending Des Moines Public Schools held a meeting at Christopher Eckhardt s
house to conduct a plan to show their support for a truce in the ongoing Vietnam War. They
resolved to wear black armbands during the holiday season and also to fast on December 16 and
on New Years. The principals at the school received word of the plan, and on December 14, they
established a policy that banned armbands in school. Anyone who refused to remove the armband
at a teacher s request would be suspended. However, this did not deter Mary Beth Tinker and
Christopher Eckhardt, who, on December 16, wore their armbands and were sent home. John
Tinker did the same thing the next day and was immediately sent home. None of them returned to
school until after New Years. Their fathers then sued the schools for violating their children s right
to freedom of expression. However, the District Court dismissed the case, and the US Court of
Appeals affirmed the decision, because of this, the families appealed to the Supreme Court. The
children s right to free speech was being violated. They argued that their protesting of the war was
within the confines of the First Amendment. Since their wearing of the bands did not

To lie about something so difficult for those who have experienced it, simply as a cry for

those who do not fit into society s beliefs about ideal people that they morally deviate and are in
need of some tragic road to redemption, and/or a mere spectacle to be used for entertainment

Welfare And The Government s Contribution Towards Poverty
Government aid is a hotly debated topic. Crossing the bounds of politics, economics, and
sociology, it seems like everyone has an opinion about welfare and the government s contribution
towards alleviating poverty. Amongst all these opinions, a person can get confused on what is fact
and fiction, who is right and who is wrong. However, with actual data accredited to unbiased
sources, and references to qualified studies, I have confounded enough evidence to support my
claim. I found that despite opinions, according to the facts, welfaredoes help alleviate poverty.
According to the article Ending Welfare as We Know It: A Reform Still in Progress, in the long
term, as more aid is given the poverty rate declines. Less people are stuck in poverty, and on
average the number who use federal aid declines, resulting in a decline in poverty. The focus of
the source was to figure out whether or not the reforms in welfare did anything to help alleviate
poverty. This article references statistics taken by the U.S Census bureau. According to the U.S
Census bureau, through utilizing welfare policies such as Medicaid, the number of citizens reliant

help those in poverty, and in the long run helps them get themselves above the poverty threshold
and off of welfare. The author of the article, James Caraley is the President of the Academy of

Essay The Essex and Hazel Motes in Wise Blood by Flannery...
The Essex and Hazel Motes in Wise Blood by Flannery O Connor
In her 1952 novel Wise Blood, Flannery O Connor presents Hazel Motes s Essex automobile as a
symbol for Hazel himself. The car s dilapidated state corresponds to Motes s own spiritual decay;
however, the initial quality of the car s workmanship corresponds to Hazel s Christian upbringing,
which he cannot deny in spite of himself. Motes s identification with and reliance upon his car as
a means of escape becomes ironic as the Essex continually fails to deliver him from his demons;
Hazel s dependence on his car (despite his contentions that he is not concerned with material
possessions) actually holds him back.
O Connor writes of Motes s Christian childhood in chapter one ... Show more content on

Complicating Hazel s confused conceptions of entrapment, sin, and Christianity is the episode
involving the Melsy carnival, at which Hazel and his father pay to see a woman lying in a
coffin. Hazel s father has a lustful reaction to the woman; he says Had one of themther built into
ever casket . . . be a heap ready to go sooner (32). Haze s shut mouthed mother, who O Connor
describes as having a cross shaped face, senses Haze s guilt when he returns home (32 33). Telling
him that Jesus died to redeem you, she whips him with a stick, leaving him with a nameless
unplaced guilt (33). The actions of his parents leave Motes unable to distinguish what is good and
Christian from what is forbidden and evil. He associates his grandfather with Christianity but also
entrapment; he associates entrapment with the carnival episode, in which his father treated the
woman as desirable but after which Hazel was made to feel guilty.
Hazel Motes s Christian upbringing continues to be significant in later chapters of Wise Blood.
Several characters notice an inherent goodness in Hazel that shows through despite his

7 Habits For Highly Effective People Analysis

desires and creating a better world by being a more conscious and thoughtful citizen. Dr. Magee

without dedicating some time to bolster one s listening skills. This will examine how the seven

be proactive is important to listen to the world around one s self so they may be able to respond
in the appropriate way. Habit two is to begin with the end in mind. This means to know and

that there is no secret formula when it comes to longevity. Not every practice of each blue zoneis

Diet
The last major reason Buettner uses in his talk that backs up longevity is a better diet. One
approach to eating better would be to try implementing the MIND diet which consists of
increasing your grain, vegetable, and fish intake, while decreasing the amount of red meats and
sweets consumed. This particular diet focuses on decreasing the risk of Alzheimer s, which is a
major cause of death in those over the age of one hundred (Health.com, 2016). Two approaches
that are more permanent than something like a diet that usually has a start and finish date are to
have smaller portions of food and to stop eating when you are eighty percent full. The way the
Okinawan blue zone has made smaller portions the norm is by eating off of smaller plates as
opposed to our average american size plates. Alongside eating fewer calories, a three thousand year
old adage, Hara, Hatchi, Bu, created by Confucius, reinforces to stop eating when you are eighty
percent full before every meal (Buettner, 2009).

Miss Brill sits in other people s lives, as she watches her life fly away (201). Mansfield suggests
that she finds her life empty, and she finds joy in drama of other people s lives. Her loneliness
was like a bare hole in her heart. Miss Brill seeks out excitement to remove her latent thoughts of
her lonely existence. By using the other people at the park, Miss Brill finds a temporary filling
for her need of companionship. When Miss Brill speaks about the people around her being in a
theatrical production, it makes her role in life feel important. (202). Even she had a part and
came every Sunday... she was part of the performance after all (202). Mansfield acknowledges a
method to cope with the struggle towards Miss Brill s realization that she is not important in
society anymore. The use of emotional appeal emphasizes the lonely existence faced in the
vision of Miss Brill. Another key characteristic of Miss Brill is her critical behavior. Miss Brill is
extremely observant of the people and the environment in the park. Mansfield proposes her
critical trait is related to her complete mental lack of companionship. Miss Brill observes very
detailed things about people that others would not notice at first glance. Wasn t the conductor
wearing a new coat, too? She was sure it was new (201). It is obvious to see Miss Brill as a bit
delusional about the happenings around her. With a detailed eye, Miss Brill also describes how the

Antibiotics Essay
Antibiotics have played a major role in our society thanks to Sir
Alexander Fleming s careful observations in 1928. Without it, many lives would be in danger due
to infectious diseases.
Antibiotics are chemical substances produced by various species of microorganisms and other
living systems that are capable in small concentrations of inhibiting the growth of or killing bacteria
and other microorganisms. These organisms can be bacteria, viruses, fungi, or animals called
protozoa. A particular group of these agents is made up of drugs called antibiotics, from the Greek
word anti ( against ) and bios

This assures that the bacteria are either killed or reduced enough in numbers so that the body can
repel them. When too little antibiotic is taken, bacteria can often develop methods to protect
themselves against it . The next time the antibiotic is needed against these bacteria, it will not be
effective.
Taking in Antibiotics.
To work against infecting organisms, an antibiotic can be applied externally, such as to a cut on the
skin s surface, or internally, reaching the bloodstream within the body. Antibiotics are made in
several forms and given in different ways.
Topical. Topical application means to a local area such as on the skin, in the eyes, or on the
mucous membrane. Antibiotics for topical use are available in the form of powders, ointments, or
creams.
Oral. Tablets, liquids, and capsules are swallowed. The antibiotic is released in the small intestine
to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Troches, or lozenges, are allowed to dissolve in the mouth, where the antibiotic is absorbed through
the mucous membrane.
Parenteral. Applications outside the intestine are called parenteral.
One form is an injection, which can be subcutaneous (under the skin), intramuscular (into a muscle),
or intravenous (into a vein). Parenteral administration of an antibiotic is used when a physician
requires a strong, quick concentration of the antibiotic in the bloodstream.

The Lawn At The University Of Virginia And Ix Art Park
Influences of planning theorists are evident in The Lawn at the University of Virginia and IX Art
Park in downtown Charlottesville by examining the sites designs, activities, and users.
Thomas Jefferson designed a university to promote higher education which he called his
Academic Village, and the Lawn was the center of his design. He wanted to create a university
where everybody could not only learn and study, but also live together. Therefore, he designed
pavilions which served as houses and classrooms for teachers and rooms for students that were all
connected to each other. Furthermore, everybody had a view towards a green space called the
Lawn. Jefferson s interest in architecture influenced his design for the Academic Village. The layout
of the Village with the central lawn was inspired by French hospital planning and the surrounding
structures were inspired by Roman architecture. Jefferson aimed to create a place that was
practical, healthy, and educational. Construction began in 1817, and the university opened in
March 1825 with Jefferson s selected faculty and 123 students. Jefferson s Academic Village
expanded after his death into a larger campus, now known as the University of Virginia. Students
and faculty continue to live in rooms around the Lawn and classes are still taught in the pavilions.

The On Blood Brain Barrier
Blood Brain Barrier
One of the most important properties of BBB is that it separates the brain tissue from the blood
circulation of the CNS. By that it consists of three parts: the layer of endothelial cells connected
through tight junctions, basal membrane, and astrocytes and pericytes. Its main function is it only
select molecules to pass from the bloodstream into the fluid that bathes the brain, whereas vital
nutrients get in, toxins and pathogens are blocked. Formed by endothelial cells and epithelial cells
and contributing to the intercellular tight junction, BBB is the creation of a paracellular barrier
for ions, proteins and other solutes. The brain has to think a lot and do a lot of extracting
necessary ingredients such as oxygen and glucose in order for us to function and live and to do
some activity movements. Transporting proteins and drug delivery is one of those mechanism of
the BBB in which it allows important substances to pass through into the brain and spinal cord
preventing a blockage of certain materials into the CNS. In addition to endothelial cells, it depends
on continuous complexes of tight junctions that seals and prevent all but a few substances from
squeezing between barrier cells. A recent study stated that in order for substances to pass through
the brain, specific carrier mediated transport systems assist transport of nutrients such as glucose,
galactose, small peptides, and amines binds to specific membrane protein

Professional Codes And Standards Of Practice
In order to resolve any ethical issue, a certain approach to address the case is necessary to reach
the solution. Several of the most important techniques is to fully acknowledge the problem by
gathering all of the facts, using problem solving methods, and appealing to professional codes and
standards of practice. In this paper, the following scenario will be addressed and analyzed:
Professor Xavier is a tenured professor of engineeringwho teaches at a large institution as a
licensed professional engineer. One of his students, Jean Grey, tells him that during an exam for
another class taught by Professor Osterman, a classmate named Scott Summers apparently used his
phone to take a picture of an exam question and sent it to someone. Jean also tells Professor Xavier
that she had informed Professor Osterman about Scott, and then Professor Osterman spoke to Scott
about his actions. However, Scott did not face any further consequences resulting from his behavior.
Given this situation, the actions of each person will be discussed using ethical theories, along with
the application of professional codes of ethicsto the responses of Professor Xavier and Professor
Osterman, as well as applying the line drawing method to discuss the ethical obligations of both
professors. It is essential to point out the actions of each individual in the scenario mentioned and
discuss the ethics each person exhibits. It begins with Jean Grey, who first reported the case of

Narrative Essay About A Tough Move
A Tough Move It was a bright and sunny day. All the kids from ages 2 12 were outside playing
and enjoying in the sun. The other middle schoolers and high schoolers were sitting inside their
house in their room and texting their friends or doing homework . My mom says that with this
much technology people have stopped communicating with their voices and are now always
texting. I was in my room doing my weekend homework, when my dad rang the family
discussion bell and me and my brother Logan came down and sat around the family discussion
spot. No one spoke and it started to feel awkward. However I didn t have the courage to talk and
break the silence. Logan took his phone out and started texting his friends. Mom finally broke
the silence by saying, How is your weekend so far? She usually says somethings like how s your
day , how is your weekend , or how are you doing with your life when she doesn t know how to
start a conversation between people. Really good, I said actually starting the conversation. So
why did you call us here? My mom and dad sighed and looked at eachother and my dad said, We
have to ... move. My work got moved to Seattle. I was shocked, I had to have misheard him, I m
sorry dad, but could you please repeat that. We going to have to move to Seattle, my dad
repeated. Now I probably heard him right, but moving from Miami, Florida to Seattle,
Washington. Where did dad s job find a place across the world, I thought, if we re actually
moving, then my best friend, my school, my favorite ice cream shop, and my favorite library
would all go away. I really couldn t believe it. So we re moving from here to Seattle, Washington,
I said almost shouting. What about Cass, the ice cream, the warm weather, the beach, the
library, and the swamps and marshes. Where would all that go? Disappear into thin air? My mom
sighed and looked at me, We know that this would be hard for the two of you, but we need to be
there by Monday. Dad and I already booked the tickets and we re leaving on Sunday. We ve already
packed our stuff and all you guys have to do is pack your stuff and say all the goodbyes today. We

Should Girls be able to Play on the Same Sports Teams as Boys?
Girls should be able to play sports on boys teams right? Many argue that Females are not built to

genders may have their share of physical differences and sure it may be scientifically proven that
girls have a smaller frame and tend to be not as strong, but do not underestimate the mental strength
of us females. Every girl should have the right to play on whatever team she chooses to play on, not
what team those opposing her gender chose for her because every girl is strong enough to make

Carson Robison s Song Analysis
One of the most influential wars to the United States s homefront was not one of direct conflict and
bloodshed but rather a battle of perceived threat from Communism and the Soviet Union. This state
of turmoil, known as the Cold War, grew by feeding off the fear that encompassed the general
public. Post World War II, America s atomic monopoly and a booming economy made the people
feel safe and secure. Unfortunately, the quick growth of Communismin the eastern hemisphere
began to make the United Statesrealize the potential of Soviet dominance. Following major events
like the Truman Doctrine in 1947 and the successful detonation of the U.S.S.R s atomic bomb in
1949, citizens were forced to conform to a certain set of standards to avoid being... Show more

Specifically prevalent in the music and movie industries, artists felt unable to express their true
selves. Instead, they felt obliged to prove the country they supported the generalized, anti
communist ideology. Carson Robison s song I m No Communist of 1952, embodies how an artist
thought to present his or her persona. In the song, Robison discusses his love for America s
capitalistic government, disdain towards Communism, and disapproval of Stalin. Rather than being
able to create free music, Robison and his peers felt the need to convey their loyalty to America.
The cinematic industry also mirrored this response with a stream of anti communist movies which
satirized the Soviet Union and ridiculed the principles of Communism. Movies Dr. Strangelove
and Seven Days in May, both released in 1964, are few examples of the movement that sprouted
from Hollywood around 1949. The plots of these movies typically show over exaggerated fighting
between the United States and Soviet Union, depicting the latter always as the villains, and the
Americans as the victors. Why? Spurred by fears like the HUAC, the blacklist, and the creation of
the atomic bomb, producers and artists felt the that if they did not show allegiance to the United
States they would end up being subject to the same treatment that the Hollywood Ten received. The
sole presence of this restricted popular culture stream and the simple fact that members of the
artistic and cinematic industries felt the need to advocate for anti communist ideology to avoid
Communist suspicion shows how freedom of expression was unequivocally marginalized from the
late 1940 s to the

Banning Written Texts Should Not Baned Books
Until recently, the trend of banning thousands of time honored books was routinely taking place
in public libraries and schools across the country. Presently, many censored books are prevailing
on library shelves and remaining in the hands of students. Without a doubt, banning a book
entirely deprives people of being able to think differently and learn about new topics. However,
censoring books is an exceptional way to allow those who are easily offended to read a written
work without raising an eyebrow. A person will still comprehend the idea of a censored text,
while not becoming insulted by it. Written texts should not be banned because people should be
able to choose for themselves what they wish to read, but written texts should be censored for
people who are sensitive and feel a text is too provocative or offensive for them.
Banning a written text is wrong and unacceptable for numerous reasons. Banning a text limits
people s point of view and keeps them in their comfort zone; people are able to choose for
themselves what they want to read. Limiting society s point of view is a crime; people will
forever be narrow minded and unable to form their own opinions, if this continues. For example, the
article Book Banning Endangers Majority Values, states, Conservative materials on the issue of
homosexuality are disappearing from the collection, or more often, never appearing in the first
place (Harvey). Many books directed from the conservative standpoint, which is

The American Media s Influence On The Italian American
The American media has had a substantial influence on the Italian American stereotype, especially
that regarding mobsters. The American cinema has created movies and TV shows such as The
Godfather, Goodfellas, The Sopranos, and more. The media has the power to influence how people
think and see things, including ethnic groupsand races. This was seen extensively in the 2016
United States Presidential election. Hollywood has always had the strength to have ethnic groups
be seen in a positive or negative light. In the twentieth century, the media had a negative portrayal
of Italian Americans that has evolved as time passed. The reason for the views changing with each
passing decade is the fact that foreigners and their future generations became more Americanized.
First, Hollywood and the media had a negative portrayal of Italian Americans compared to other
ethnic groups. In the article Family, Gang, and Ethnicity in Italian themed Hollywood Gangster
Films, the author Silvia Dibeltulo states that in movies where both Italian American and Irish
American gangsters were portrayed, Italian American gangsters were portrayed as more alien
whereas their Italian American counterparts were portrayed as more assimilated . This led to
Italians being negatively associated with the stereotypes from these movies, which led to anxiety
across the country. The article goes on to state more differences between the depictions of Italian
American and Irish American gangs in films. The

The VA (Veterans Affair) Health Care System is one of the largest, most advanced health care
networks in the U.S. The VA Health Care System is the provider for veterans, retirees and their
dependents and manages all their health care. The VA Health Care is actually one part of the
Department of Veterans Affairs. There is also VA Benefits Administration which has to do with
compensations and pensions. Then the other part of the VA is the National Cemetery
Administration which is in charge of the cemeteries and providing burial and memorial benefits. All
these parts make up the Department of Veterans Affairs. (VA History)

These facilities provide a broad spectrum of medical, surgical, and rehabilitative care. Then in 1973
the National Cemetery System (except Arlington National Cemetery) was transferred to the Veterans
Administration from the department of the Army. The VA was charged with operating the
Cemetery System this includes marking all the graves of veterans in national and state cemetery s
and administering the State Cemetery Grants Program. The Department of Veterans Affairs was
established as a cabinet level position on march 15 1989 under President Bush (senior), he
addressed the creation of this new department saying, there is only one place for the veterans of
America, in the cabinet room, at the table with the President of the United States of America. (VA

History Of The Aztec Calendar
The Aztec Calendar was carved in 1479. The Calendar was dedicated to the sun god. It is 3 feet
thick, is about 12 feet across, and weighs almost 25 tones. The Aztec Calendar is a reflection of
the Aztecs Pharisaical understanding of time and space. The Aztecs, along with many of societies
at this time believed that time went in cycles. Now, the Calendar consists of more than just one
wheel rather it is a combination of two wheels. The first Calendar is known to the Aztecs as
Xiuhpohualli. The second being Tonalpohualli. Today I will be expanding on so of the known
surrounding the Azteccalendar.
The Aztec calendar played a big role in the complex system of religious beliefs and ceremonies that
consisted of ritualized warfare and human sacrifice

Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna
Abstract
Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially taking under
consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their spread. However, this
species occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it can occur from a wet habitat/area to
a bare rock surface that is a very dry habitat. Due to such observations for the distribution of this
species a question is imposed in this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients?
Two phenotypic traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density.
SLA was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and dividing that
with the total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total leaf area/ Dry leaf mass,
SLA unit g/cmВІ. The highest value for SLA is at the dry site, intermediate in wet site and lowest
in the ultra dry site. The wood density for branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest
dry mass value/ volume. Wood density unit measure is g/cmВі. The stem wood density was highest
at the ultra dry site, followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest at
the dry site, intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site.
Introduction
Acacia saligna is a small tree endemic to the Swan Coastal plain in the Mediterranean climate region
of south west Australia and is widely naturalized in Mediterranean type ecosystems throughout the

Symbolism In Tangerine
Growing, Changing, Tangerine
Tangerine is a book filled with action, drama, heart, wins, loses, and brotherhood. Paul had
always been the odd one out at school, and at home. Paul is legally blind, with glasses so thick,
they look like the bottom halves of coke bottles on his face. But when Paul moves to Tangerine
Middle school, his world is turned upside down. Paul finds himself happy, with friends, and on
the soccer team. But not everything was perfect at home. Paul has an older brother named Erik
who likes to bully and intimidate Paul. Paul had always been afraid of Erik, but he just can t quite
remember why. The only thing he does know is to watch his back around Erik. Edward Blooruses
wonderful examples of characterization, and symbolism, to display the theme of growth and
change in the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

or not, every type of tree that we produce begins its life as a rough lemon tree. At this spot, we

quote symbolizes that Paul is like the new bud, inserting himself into a new friendship with Victor

The Iraq And Iran War
The Iraq and Iran war in 1980 through 1988 started on September 22, 1980, which resulted in an
8 year war, 500,000 casualties, $600 billion debt accumulated, and many more factors. The Iraq
and Iran war strained Iraq s political, and social life. Also put Iraq s economy into severe
conditions. The 1980, 8 year war between Iraqand Iranwas fueled by many factors including border
disputes (geographical and economical), and Iraq s new dictator Saddam Hussein (political).
Saddam Hussein feared that the new Iranian leadership would threaten Iraq s Sunni Shia, and the
minimal access to the Persian Gulf. The war was multifaceted and had many religious schisms,
political differences, border disputes, ethnic disputes and a very personal fight between Saddam
Hussein and Ayatollah Khomeini. Iraq launched the war in effort to strengthen the rising power in
Iraq, and to replace Iran as the dominant Persian Gulf State. The most important factor to this war
was the fight over the Shatt al Arab waterway. The fight over the waterway goes all the way back
into the 7th century. Having said that, Iraq s leader, Saddam Hussein had large aspirations which
included expanding his country, and become the leading nation in the Middle East. Becoming the
leading nation in the Middle East required accomplishing the attack on Iran, gaining more oil fields,
the Shatt Al Arab (a waterway) and getting more power and land. Furthermore, in the months that
lead up to the start of the war, Iraq was getting

Essay on Use of Geographic Data in Natural Disasters
Missing Figures The use of geographic data in the field of preventing and mitigating natural
disasters remains a pioneering activity. However the circulation of the technology is still hindered
by many issues such as the difficulty in obtaining the appropriate raw data, the lack of effective
graphical user interfaces, the intricacy of predictive models and the expense of digitisation
(Carrara et al., 1999). Natural disasters are becoming more frequent around the world, as seen in

(1999) state that Geo Spatial Information Science is a comprehensive and integrated information
science and technology, which is used to acquire, measure, analysis, store, manage, display, diffuse
and apply the data related to earth and spatial distribution. Furthermore, with the continuing effects
of human activity upon the environment becoming more apparent in the form of climate change,
the Geomatics industry is becoming more important in mapping temporal changes and spatial
distribution especially in the case of natural disasters, but is also significant due to globalisation, in
mapping social, economic or distribution aspects globally and locally. With the Earth s first
satellites being launched in the early 1970 s, there have been fast advances within the industry since
then and whilst there have been many failures, these have mainly been due to the incorrect
application of remotely sensed data rather than based upon their intrinsic limitations, however
despite the failures, the Geomatics industry continues to be valuable in aiding and protecting
countries against natural disasters and with the monitoring of disasters (Carrara et al., 1999).
Furthermore, the awareness of geographical data processing is becoming more widespread among
western countries along with many developing nations, which enables faster response times to

A Short Note On The Power Of Communication
The Power of Communication
It was a warm autumn morning and the sun was just rising on the horizon. I was already awake
and ready for my first day at the college. Later I found myself standing crusted like a statue
behind the white door which reminded me an endless emotional tension that I usually experience
all the time while facing a simple for some people but for me a very difficult situation to deal with.
For a long period, a very deep anxiety and nervousness had been my only response to the
situations when I had to interact with new people. Communication has always been an
unsolvable issue in my life as long as I remember myself, which caused me a lot of trouble during
my daily life and, I always tried to avoid it and couldn t find a will power or capabilities to
overcome it meanwhile realizing that my life would have been a lot easier compare with the
moment like that. Finally, I could suppress my nervousness and after taking a deep breath I
opened the door and quietly entered the classroom. It was dark and unwelcoming like on
purpose adding more anxiety to my already unfavorable situation. There were two students
sitting, one of them was in the very front seat right before the teacher s seat with a notebook and
a book on the desk ready for the class. For a moment he cast a quick glance at me, l guess
expecting to see the instructor instead of me, he just looked at me very indifferently. The other
student was in the very last seat plunged into his phone like if

The Development Of Walmart.
The Development of Walmart Tracy Johnson Nicholas Chabra Cooperate Responsibility and
Society January 27, 2016 Introduction This paper concerning Walmart will give a brief history
and development story of the retail outlet. The research will also feature the gender
discrimination claims that have been made against the retail outlet store. The history and
development of Walmart Walmart s first store was opened up in Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 by
Sam Walton. Walton had owned a retail store in the previous store and decided to utilize a
unique concept to achieve high sales and rise above his competitors in the town and industry.
Walton reduced the prices of his products so that they were lower to those that were being
offered by the competitors. By 2007, Walmart had over 3,400 retail outlets throughout the
country. The store also had 1.3 million employees and had facilitated about 6.49 % of the
country s sales in retail. Walmart deals in the sale of apparel, music, groceries and some
household products. In 2005, Walmart s end of year profits had exceeded those of other retail
stores combined such as Target, Costco, Home Depo, and Sears Holding Company. Walmart has
retail store interests in Brazil, China, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Argentina, and Brazil. The retail
store sold the stores that it had in Japan and Germany. Wal Mart also operates Sam s Club, which

  • 2. My View Of My Dream House Generally, I revere everything in life, it illustrates a clear explanation of whom I want to become in the future. The grade 10 students were introduced to the myp personal project and with this in mind, I had many vital ideas executed but confused to choose a product that contributes to my interests. I love learning and discovering new things. After many cups of coffee, I obtained an idea or goal to create a three dimensional foam architectural model of my dream house. My family built our own house in India last year and on viewing the stages of buildinga house became one of my interest. I always wondered how the workers/builders managed to get the house in perfect shape as the engineer contemplated. For instance, how can a bunch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His creation inspired many others in the architectural field and has become one of the seven wonders of the world. My product should impress others and induce them in creating their own dream house model. I have chosen to focus on the global context of orientation in space and time. My areas of exploration will be on Homes and Journey . My project specifically deals with the design and construction of a house in this modern world. I intend to focus on the engineer and construction workers collaboration towards the completion of a perfect house. In this case, I will be both the engineer and construction worker as I am going to design my floor plan and transform it into a three dimensional figure. Based on my global context my question of inquiry is Why humans should know how to manipulate architectural designs and common construction procedure . To start out with this personal project I have decided to conquer this quote for my success in this model, If you focus on design, you can call yourself a designer. If you focus on the implementation of your design, you can call yourself an architect .(Cameron Sinclair, Architecturefor Humanity) Before I begin my construction work, I need to know basic steps of an architectural model building. So I Came up with some research questions that would help me throughout this project. What I needed to research: What Basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The most memorable dish was Vince s gnocchi; a plate full of light as air, tiny pillows of fresh potato goodness, smothered in a mouthwatering, rich and creamy gorgonzola sauce. Vince had never tasted anything so divine. It was delicious. The men savored their well deserved, exquisite dinner and wine engaged in happy conversation about the day s events. Stan was relieved to be away from the sadness which encompassed his home in California and Vince was grateful to have Stan s companionship and moral support. When they returned to the apartment, Vince was too energized to sleep. Intending to paint only a small area, he opened a can to dip... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How do you feel? Do you have buyer s remorse? Are you kidding?! Vince answered. I have the direct opposite. I can t wait to go back with you in September. I love it there, I love our apartment. Oh, thank God. I replied. Where are the keys, let me see the skeleton key. Vince produced a bunch of keys on a keyring from his pocket and dangled them within my reach. Stan took a picture of Vince holding one key and me holding the skeleton key! It was a very momentous photo. FINALLY MOVING IN For those who wait, waiting is a life time. Isn t that how the saying goes? It was going to be a brutal, long summer waiting for September to when we would return to Morcella together for the actual moving in. I spent a big part of every day focused on what I wanted to bring from California, what I wanted to do first after we arrived and I was constantly thinking about how I wanted each room to look. I am in agreeance of the old saying of An eye for an eye . The death penalty is one of the most controversial issues in our criminal justice system. There is an increase in opposition against the death penalty, not only in the United States. Many Americans feel that capital punishmentis wrong. It is hard for people to fathom the idea of putting someone else to death. It is not the physical mechanics involved in executions that are hard to handle. It is the emotions involved in carrying out the process. Many feel that the death penalty violates the eight Amendment of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people that are mainly given a conviction of death are those of minority and the poor. Oppositionist feel that if a white or rich person committed the same crime would be sent away with a lesser punishment or a slap on the wrist. Economic and racial bias is an argument that is made across the board in our justice system. This is an argument that has caught the eye of many Civil Rights unions. It has been said that with the use of capital punishment, violent crimes will be reduced. This is the third argument. However, the opposition does not agree. There is no prove that the rates of violent crimes have been reduced. The opposition argues that capital punishment does not act as a deterrent for these crimes. They also argue that it is irreversible. The fourth and final argument involves the amount of time that a prisoner spends on death row. Prisoners tend to spend a lot of time on death row prior to executing day because retrials, technicalities, appeals, or other delays. Due to those reasons the opposition argues that having a person wait for years for execution is both costly and cruel. They feel that if a prisoner is going to wait that long then he or she should be convicted of life imprisonment without the option of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Social Changes in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe Essay Social Changes in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe In the book Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, we are able to read about the social changes the white missionaries had on an African tribe. Mr. Achebe describes the way of life before the missionaries arrived and then records some of the changes, which occurred due to the changed belief system introduced by these missionaries. Soon after the missionaries began to teach the tribal people about the Christian faith, their tribal customs began to be questioned. This caused a sense of unrest in the village. The missionaries were trying to bring with them new ways of life, and mostly better ways of life. Mr.Achebe tries to show us that the missionaries showed people who were hurt by... Mr. Achebe writes, ?Nneka had had four previous pregnancies and child births. But each time she had borne twins they had been immediately thrown away. Her husband and his family were already becoming highly critical of such a woman and were not unduly perturbed when they found out she had fled to join the Christians. It was a good riddance (pg.151). This shows us how Mr. Achebe understood what was happening and wasn?t surprised when the women fled to the Christians. We can also see his knowledge of this belief transformation happening in his village when he writes, ?and were not unduly perturbed when they found out she had fled to join the Christians . This tells us that he didn t really care about the people who left the tribe. He understood why they left but as he said, ?it was a good riddance . From our point of view we can understand why the people who were being hurt by the tribes belief system fled from the tribe in search of a better life. They really had no choice if they didn?t want to live in fear and superstition. There are many examples of people getting hurt in the Ibo tribe, like when Ikemefuna, the young boy, was sacrificed after a women from the Ibo tribe was murdered. • 7. Bulimia Nervosa As A Mental Disorder Bulimia Nervosa was first characterized as a mental disorder in 1979 by Gerald F.M. Russell. Bulimia nervosa was initially a variant of anorexia nervosa, but now the disease has its own symptoms, and is distinguished as a psychiatric condition (Palmer, 2005). Bulimia Nervosa seems to occur in adolescents and women between the ages of 14 40. The percentage of men suffering from the disease are about 10% (Farrar, 2014). Patients suffering from the disease place an excessive importance in body image and weight loss. They will consume an excessive amount of food and feel guilty about it. Then, they try different methods of getting rid of the food they just consumed. Binge Eating disorder is a category of Bulimia Nervosa and there are two subtypes of Binge eating disorder: Purging and Non purging. Purging is the process where patients who suffer from Bulimia Nervosa try to get rid of the food they consumed by using various methods. One of the most common methods is making themselves vomit the food that they just purged. Others use laxatives as a means to get rid of the substances (Smith and Segal,2015). Patients who use the Non purging method tend to exercise excessively to lose weight, and they also use fasting as a means to lose weight. They do not participate in the purging methods. They instead use these methods to compensate for the purging (National Mental Health Institute, 2014). The early diagnosis of Bulimia Nervosa was using the DSM III. The name that was given was ... • 10. The Impact Of Electric Vehicles On The Future Of Electric... Context and Background Electric vehicles have been around far longer than their fossil fuel powered counter parts. They have been popular as early as the late 19th century and the early part of the 20th century. One of the best selling vehicles at the point was the Columbia Runabout, which could go 40miles on a single charge and run at speed up to 25 kmph. They were initially considered a safer option when compared to cars powered by fossil fuels, as initial ICI cars were prone to backfire. This all changed with the mass production and the technological advancements when it came to ICE (Internal Combustion Engines) [1]. When Ford started mass producing their cars and fuel prices began to drop, advancements in electric vehicles came to a halt. There has been a slow resurgence in interest for Electric vehicles from the late 70 s when the damage that the fossil fuel powered cars were causing to the environment was slowly being understood. Yet the public acceptance of electric vehicles has been less than enthusiastic. This can be attributed to the low prices of gasoline and push by petroleum giants against electric car initiatives and public aversion to buying electric cars owing to their high prices, their low resale value and lack of infrastructure for charging. But with the recent success of Electric Vehicles in California and Estonia, it would be time to look at ways to implement an infrastructure for Electric Vehicles in Australia and spread awareness among the public. ... • 14. An Definition Of Moral Theory Another moral theory, also born of Deontological Perspectives, comes from WD Ross. In contrast to Kant, who stated that moral positions can be deduced by reason and are absolutely binding, Ross believes that we determine moral positions through intuition of the rightness or wrongness on the action. This intuition allows us to determine what our duties are while these duties are not dependent on the outcomes or circumstances, but how we rank these duties is dependent on a situation. In turn, this creates what Ross refers to as Prima Facieduties. Prima Facie duties are duties that are obligatory duties that can be trumped by other duties depending on our situation. Ross gives an example of seven of these prima facie duties in his writings: beneficence, non maleficence, justice, self improvement, fidelity, reparation, and gratitude. These duties arise because we intuit them to be true and binding duties. In Ross s view, all of these duties are binding, but he does not exclude, as Kant does that these duties may overlap and run contrary to one another in any given situation. We can only act in accordance with what our perception is of the situation and try to do our best, but we may often fail as a result. While this theory is superior to Kant in that it does allow for more universal applicability and wiggle room to fit various cultures, the main issue with Ross s theory is that it relies on the intuition of flawed humans to determine self evident duties and does not ... • 15. The Tinker V. Des Moines Independent School District... One of the most well known Supreme Cases involving student rights was the Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School District decision of 1969. The verdict quickly became a precedent for many other decisions involving school issues and is very relevant today. In December of 1965, students attending Des Moines Public Schools held a meeting at Christopher Eckhardt s house to conduct a plan to show their support for a truce in the ongoing Vietnam War. They resolved to wear black armbands during the holiday season and also to fast on December 16 and on New Years. The principals at the school received word of the plan, and on December 14, they established a policy that banned armbands in school. Anyone who refused to remove the armband at a teacher s request would be suspended. However, this did not deter Mary Beth Tinker and Christopher Eckhardt, who, on December 16, wore their armbands and were sent home. John Tinker did the same thing the next day and was immediately sent home. None of them returned to school until after New Years. Their fathers then sued the schools for violating their children s right to freedom of expression. However, the District Court dismissed the case, and the US Court of Appeals affirmed the decision, because of this, the families appealed to the Supreme Court. The children s right to free speech was being violated. They argued that their protesting of the war was within the confines of the First Amendment. Since their wearing of the bands did not ... The Essex and Hazel Motes in Wise Blood by Flannery O Connor In her 1952 novel Wise Blood, Flannery O Connor presents Hazel Motes s Essex automobile as a symbol for Hazel himself. The car s dilapidated state corresponds to Motes s own spiritual decay; however, the initial quality of the car s workmanship corresponds to Hazel s Christian upbringing, which he cannot deny in spite of himself. Motes s identification with and reliance upon his car as a means of escape becomes ironic as the Essex continually fails to deliver him from his demons; Hazel s dependence on his car (despite his contentions that he is not concerned with material possessions) actually holds him back. By that it consists of three parts: the layer of endothelial cells connected through tight junctions, basal membrane, and astrocytes and pericytes. Its main function is it only select molecules to pass from the bloodstream into the fluid that bathes the brain, whereas vital nutrients get in, toxins and pathogens are blocked. Formed by endothelial cells and epithelial cells and contributing to the intercellular tight junction, BBB is the creation of a paracellular barrier for ions, proteins and other solutes. The brain has to think a lot and do a lot of extracting necessary ingredients such as oxygen and glucose in order for us to function and live and to do some activity movements. Transporting proteins and drug delivery is one of those mechanism of the BBB in which it allows important substances to pass through into the brain and spinal cord preventing a blockage of certain materials into the CNS. The plots of these movies typically show over exaggerated fighting between the United States and Soviet Union, depicting the latter always as the villains, and the Americans as the victors. Why? Spurred by fears like the HUAC, the blacklist, and the creation of the atomic bomb, producers and artists felt the that if they did not show allegiance to the United States they would end up being subject to the same treatment that the Hollywood Ten received. The sole presence of this restricted popular culture stream and the simple fact that members of the artistic and cinematic industries felt the need to advocate for anti communist ideology to avoid Communist suspicion shows how freedom of expression was unequivocally marginalized from the late 1940 s to the ... • 37. Banning Written Texts Should Not Baned Books Until recently, the trend of banning thousands of time honored books was routinely taking place in public libraries and schools across the country. Presently, many censored books are prevailing on library shelves and remaining in the hands of students. Without a doubt, banning a book entirely deprives people of being able to think differently and learn about new topics. However, censoring books is an exceptional way to allow those who are easily offended to read a written work without raising an eyebrow. A person will still comprehend the idea of a censored text, while not becoming insulted by it. Written texts should not be banned because people should be able to choose for themselves what they wish to read, but written texts should be censored for people who are sensitive and feel a text is too provocative or offensive for them. Banning a written text is wrong and unacceptable for numerous reasons. Banning a text limits people s point of view and keeps them in their comfort zone; people are able to choose for themselves what they want to read. Limiting society s point of view is a crime; people will forever be narrow minded and unable to form their own opinions, if this continues. For example, the article Book Banning Endangers Majority Values, states, Conservative materials on the issue of homosexuality are disappearing from the collection, or more often, never appearing in the first place (Harvey). Many books directed from the conservative standpoint, which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The American Media s Influence On The Italian American The American media has had a substantial influence on the Italian American stereotype, especially that regarding mobsters. The American cinema has created movies and TV shows such as The Godfather, Goodfellas, The Sopranos, and more. The media has the power to influence how people think and see things, including ethnic groupsand races. This was seen extensively in the 2016 United States Presidential election. Hollywood has always had the strength to have ethnic groups be seen in a positive or negative light. In the twentieth century, the media had a negative portrayal of Italian Americans that has evolved as time passed. The reason for the views changing with each passing decade is the fact that foreigners and their future generations became more Americanized. First, Hollywood and the media had a negative portrayal of Italian Americans compared to other ethnic groups. In the article Family, Gang, and Ethnicity in Italian themed Hollywood Gangster Films, the author Silvia Dibeltulo states that in movies where both Italian American and Irish American gangsters were portrayed, Italian American gangsters were portrayed as more alien whereas their Italian American counterparts were portrayed as more assimilated . This led to Italians being negatively associated with the stereotypes from these movies, which led to anxiety across the country. The article goes on to state more differences between the depictions of Italian American and Irish American gangs in films. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna Abstract Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially taking under consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their spread. However, this species occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it can occur from a wet habitat/area to a bare rock surface that is a very dry habitat. Due to such observations for the distribution of this species a question is imposed in this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients? Two phenotypic traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density. SLA was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and dividing that with the total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total leaf area/ Dry leaf mass, SLA unit g/cmВІ. The highest value for SLA is at the dry site, intermediate in wet site and lowest in the ultra dry site. The wood density for branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest dry mass value/ volume. Wood density unit measure is g/cmВі. The stem wood density was highest at the ultra dry site, followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest at the dry site, intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site. Introduction Acacia saligna is a small tree endemic to the Swan Coastal plain in the Mediterranean climate region of south west Australia and is widely naturalized in Mediterranean type ecosystems throughout the world (Tozer and ... The Iraq And Iran War The Iraq and Iran war in 1980 through 1988 started on September 22, 1980, which resulted in an 8 year war, 500,000 casualties, $600 billion debt accumulated, and many more factors. The Iraq and Iran war strained Iraq s political, and social life. Also put Iraq s economy into severe conditions. The 1980, 8 year war between Iraqand Iranwas fueled by many factors including border disputes (geographical and economical), and Iraq s new dictator Saddam Hussein (political). Saddam Hussein feared that the new Iranian leadership would threaten Iraq s Sunni Shia, and the minimal access to the Persian Gulf. The war was multifaceted and had many religious schisms, political differences, border disputes, ethnic disputes and a very personal fight between Saddam Hussein and Ayatollah Khomeini. Iraq launched the war in effort to strengthen the rising power in Iraq, and to replace Iran as the dominant Persian Gulf State. The most important factor to this war was the fight over the Shatt al Arab waterway. The fight over the waterway goes all the way back into the 7th century. Having said that, Iraq s leader, Saddam Hussein had large aspirations which included expanding his country, and become the leading nation in the Middle East. With the Earth s first satellites being launched in the early 1970 s, there have been fast advances within the industry since then and whilst there have been many failures, these have mainly been due to the incorrect application of remotely sensed data rather than based upon their intrinsic limitations, however despite the failures, the Geomatics industry continues to be valuable in aiding and protecting countries against natural disasters and with the monitoring of disasters (Carrara et al., 1999).
