Neil Alden Armstrong (1930-2012) was an American astronaut, test pilot, and the first person to walk on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. He graduated from Purdue University and served as a U.S. Navy officer before joining NASA, where he made significant contributions to space exploration, including the first manned docking of spacecraft. Armstrong received numerous honors for his achievements, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal, and passed away due to complications from blocked coronary arteries.
