This document summarizes a study that examined the relationship between parent and child media exposure, preschooler dietary intake, and preschooler perceptions of healthy meals, taking into account the potential moderating role of food insecurity. The study found that greater child and parent commercial TV viewing was associated with more obesogenic dietary intake for children in food-secure but not food-insecure households. Child commercial TV viewing also predicted a greater proportion of energy-dense foods in children's imagined healthy meals. The findings suggest food insecurity may moderate the effects of food marketing on children.

Likewise, the researcher believes that health awareness must be raised in private schools as well. This study aimed to affect the community to be aware and more knowledgeable about nutrition. Specifically, this study focused on the nutritional status of school age children in private elementary schools in Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija. It sought to determine the profile of the learners, anthropometrics, clinical data and the knowledge of the learners as to dietary and the significant relationship between the profile of the learners and the nutritional status of the school aged children. With all the data gathered a meal management program was proposed. The study employed the quantitative description design. The study manifests that majority of the respondents were not yet aware of what they eat. In addition, age, greatly affects the respondent’s anthropometrics as to height. More so, age, number of siblings and family income, greatly affect the respondents’ anthropometrics as to weight. The researcher adopted the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipino program that was developed by the DOST- FNRI.

Introduction
Children require different types of diets as they grow up. Every stage of development requires a specific type of diet to enhances growth and general well-being. This is why the federal government has set up rules and regulations and governs to school lunches in the United States. The government introduces updated National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs (NSLP) in 2012 to cut down sugar, sodium and fat intake in the schools. The program included introduction of fruits, whole grains and vegetables every day. Statistics shows that nearly one third of children and adolescents in the country are obese and overweight. Poor nutrition in school lunches also increases chances of developing chronic diseases such as kidney stones, heart diseases and diabetes (Schuna, 2017). Healthy nutrition among children and adolescents enhances memory development, social skills and fine motor skills. Nutritionally sound diets in children and preadolescents plays very important roles in preparing them to (for) a healthier future. It is therefore the responsibility of the government to ensure school lunches are free of excess sugar, salt and fats.
There a strong relationship between nutrition and brain development. High intake of poor diet during the earlier years in children leads to anxiety and depression in later years. It also increases emotional and behavioral problems. However, healthy diets such as vegetables, whole grains and fruits prevent children’s risk to for depression in later years. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA, 2018), whole grains contains vitamins B, fiber and minerals that helps kids in school to concentrate in class. The government through the USDA started offering whole-grain rich food in school lunches after the enactment of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act in 2012. The problem now is that these rules have been relaxed and children and adolescents are back consuming sugary foods. Also most schools do not adhere to NLSP program expectations.

The research methodology used in this nutrition research paper involved systematic reviews of various sources involving children, preadolescents and nutrition. Most of these studies were obtained from government agency databases such as United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), NHANES and other nutrition databases. The research studies reviewed were majorly conducted through Cross-sectional surveys, surveillance surveys and experimental designs. Data were obtained through admission of questionnaires and interviews. Statistical tools such as regression analysis were used in analyzing the data.

Target Audience: Daniels targets the general public with his message. He highlights the social and environmental factors that cause obesity to people of all ages from children to adult. Background: Daniel is a researcher in the field of pediatric medicine. This is, therefore, places him in a better position to contribute to the topic under discussion.
The Author’s Perspective: The position taken by Daniels concurs with numerous assertions on the causes of obesity. The author blames lifestyle and the food habits practiced people in the society. Daniels contends that lack of physical activity and the consumption of fast foods are the direct causes of obesity.

Childhood Obesity describes attainments of weight beyond the normal body mass index ration leading to the vulnerability in lines. In the study, the use of article will facilitate the process. As noted, the researcher of the material sought to evaluate the factors that contribute to obesity in children. Their study focused on dieting and physical exercise as the primary factors that contribute to obesity. The researchers commenced the process by identifying the research question, proceeded with instruments then selected the design before engaging the target population to validate the research hypothesis. The target group for the study comprised of children aged below 12 years. They included children from a different racial background. Both boys and girls featured in the study. The researcher hypothesized the cause of obesity with the motive of encouraging the adaptation of intervention programs. The study prioritized preventive measures with the intent of decreasing cases of obesity in children in less than six months.
The literature for study includes article 1, 2, 3 and 4. Article 5, 6, 7 and 8 also featured in the study. The research sought to evaluate the prevailing trends concerning the wellness of the children using a collection of questions. The first article by Bleich, Segal, Wu, and Wilson& Wang sought to evaluate the role of community-based prevention. The second article by Tester et al examined the characteristics of the condition in children aged between 2 and 5. The third article by Cunningham, Kramer, & Narayan quantified the prevalence of the condition. Arthur, Scharf, and DeBoer’s fourth sought to evaluate the role of food insecurity in the contraction of obesity. The fifth and sixth Fetter et al and Lydecke, Riley, & Grilo examined the role of physical activity and parenting subsequently. The exploration of the implication of the limitation of the dietary behavior of the micro levels of the condition and parents understanding on the condition featured in the seventh and eight articles composed by Marcum, et al, and Vollmer respectively.
The sample population for the study in the first article comprised of the young population in homes school and care setting. The second article engaged children aged between 2 and 5 years. It is no secret that obesity in America is at an alarming level and although we see its prevalence in adults, we often fail to discuss its rising rates within adolescents. Children are now facing the possibility of higher mortality rates, when in reality, children should be living longer than their parents. With obesity striking Midwestern communities, this paper aims to focus on understanding why children in these communities are at a higher risk and what actions are needed to help them overcome this harmful life style. This is incredibly important in order to restore and maintain health. Children who are obese have a higher comorbidity for chronic diseases that typically only affect adults such as, type II diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia as well as psychological disorders. This stresses the importance that adolescents should be happy and healthy, not a statistic.
Target Population: Midwestern Adolescents
To be considered as this paper’s target population an individual must meet two criteria: the person must reside in the American Midwest and be an adolescent. The State of Obesity (2016-17) ranks all fifty states against one another in obesity. Although the rankings are not confined to adolescents, it highlights where midwestern states stand in relation to the rest of the United States. The lower the number next to the state, higher portion of the population is obese : 6. Ohio (18.6%), 10. Iowa (17.7%), 11. Indiana (17.5%), 12. Michigan (17.3%), 17. Illinois (16.2%), 23. The goal of Healthy People 2020 is to increase life expectancy and quality of life. According to their website, 1 in 6 children and adolescents are obese. That number is concerning because many adolescents do not understand the consequences of their actions and how it can be detrimental later on in their adult years. Healthy People 2020 initiatives are aimed in helping adolescents in 1. achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, 2. Reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, 3. Reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer, 4. Strengthen muscles, bones and joints and 5. A diet that is high in sugar and fat, as well as processed, will result in weight gain.
