The document discusses three pieces of equipment used for a media project:
1) An Apple Mac desktop provided a large, high-quality screen that helped with editing and attention to detail.
2) A small digital camera was used for some photos and was better than a phone but could be shaky without a tripod.
3) A Canon EOS 450D DSLR was used for some professional-looking photos but was heavy and difficult to hold steady without a tripod.
2. APPLE MAC DESKTOP
I have been lucky enough through college to have
access to an Apple Mac desktop throughout the
year. Although I originally was not clear on how to
efficiently work it, I have learned throughout the
year the various features and advantages to
editing my product, the graphic quality and overall
size of the screen have really helped in the
creation phase and helped me pay considerable
attention to detail and editing that I may not have
had the ability to have had I been using a normal
PC. I feel that the Mac desktop was the best
possible piece of equipment I could have used in
the editing process of my media product.
3. DIGITAL CAMERA
For pictures that did not require such a high quality and for
small research and planning tasks, I was able to use a small
hand held digital camera. Something that I was grateful for as it
produced considerably better photographs than I would have
been able to achieve using my mobile phone. I have not only
developed my photography skills in terms of shot type, I have
also began to understand various effects and features of the
camera that I was not aware of before the beginning of my
course. One issue I found however was that, when supported by
one hand the camera was difficult to keep still and therefore
focus, sometimes this would result in shaky and unprofessional
looking shots. I am now aware however, that the digital camera
I was using did have the ability to be fitted to a tripod, therefore
this is something I would consider using in the future.
4. CANON EOS 450D
I used the Canon 450 D to take the shots for my
front cover, contents page and double page spread. I
had seen some pictures taken with this camera
previously and knew that using it I could achieve a
professional look to my photos that I could not get
with a digital camera, so long as I got the lighting
and shot correct. I did some experimenting with
various effects and lenses and was really pleased
with the results that I achieved. Once again
however, the problem I faced was that I did not have
a tripod therefore holding the camera (which was
significantly heavier than the small digital one I had
grown accustomed too) steady was incredibly
difficult.
