Sandhills Endoscopy Center has an Anti-
Harassment policy that defines harassment
and lists procedures on what to do in the
event that harassment occurs. This policy
can be found under the center's policy and
procedures manual.

3. Unwelcome or Harassing Behavior is defined by the policy as a form of
misconduct that undermines the employment relationship. Examples
include, but are not limited to:
Explicit sexual propositions
Sexual innuendo
“Put-downs”
Foul or obscene language or gestures
Suggestive comments or any type of communications either in person or via electronic devices
Sexually oriented “kidding” or “teasing” including jokes about gender-specific traits
Displays of obscene printed or visual material
Condescending or derisive comments or terms based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, disability,
etc.
Physical conduct such as patting, pinching, or brushing up against another person.
4. Sexual Harassment
Sexual Harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and
other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when:
- It is explicitly or implicitly involved as a term or condition of employment
- It is unreasonably interfering with an employee’s work performance
- It creates an intimidating , hostile or offensive working environment.
5. Reporting Harassment
Every employee has a responsibility to report harassment if
they believe it is occurring, even if they are not directly
involved. There are several ways to report a complaint,
including, but not limited to the following:
Report it to your supervisor/manager or to a higher level
authority within your “chain of command”
Report it to the Corporate Compliance Officer
Report it to your HR
6. Rights
Anyone who reports harassment has a right to
the following:
•Confidentiality: All information will be handled
with sensitivity and shared only with those
individuals involved in the investigation or have
a need to know.
•Non-Retaliation: Retaliation will not be
against any individual who in good faith raises a
concern about an alleged harassment situation.

zero-tolerance
standard of
violence in the
workplace.
Workplace violence includes physical violence, threats or
behavior that is disruptive to the SEC environment and generate
a concern for the personal safety of employees, patients and
visitors. This includes threats, intimidation, stalking, possession
of weapons, aggressive behavior or language, disregard for one's
own safety or the safety of others, and lateral violence or
bullying.
Violent or threatening behavior communicated by email, text or
social media may also be subject to disciplinary action.
Occurrence reports should be used to report any incident such
as workplace violence that may affect an employee, patient,
family member, visitor/ guest, vendor etc.
8. What to do if
you observe
violent behavior
Depending on the situation, you may start by informing the
individual that their actions or words are inappropriate and
offensive.
If immediate help is needed, call 911 for police assistance.
If the threat of harm is not imminent, employees who believe that
they have observed, been threatened or are victims of an act of
violence should report the incident to the Center Administrator or
the Director Of Nursing , so that steps can be taken to protect the
employee, and initiate an investigation.
Employees are asked to complete an Occurrence report and if
injured, the employee is asked to contact their PCP or urgent care
to complete the appropriate workplace injury report documents.
In order to maintain a safe working environment, employee’s
personal items are subject to inspection and search.
