The Minimum Range Assignment Problem on Linear Radio NetworksPaolo Penna
This algorithmic problem is motivated by the need of minimizing the overall energy necessary to connect a set of radio transmitter/receivers without using any fixed infrastructure. The nodes can adjust their transmission power and they can reach all neighbours within the resulting transmission range.
This work shows how to determine the optimal solution when nodes are located along a line and the desired connectivity property is to have any pair of nodes reachable within a maximum number of hops.
This presentation has been given at the 8th Annual European Symposium on Algorithms (ESA 2000).
