- Thanks for letting me join you during your meeting. Introduction We’re here to provide you more information about the Alumni Association Get Your Blue On program and help the Western community. The Alumni Association is committed to enhancing your Western experience by building pride in the Western community.
- To give you a better idea of who we are representing… As of Fall 2010, we have over 14979 Western students registered at Western. As of November 2010, we have 14036 Western Alumni Association members As of April 2011, Western has 2264 employees and of those 667 are Western Alums which only 102 are Alumni Association members We have recently awarded the 100,000 diploma during the Fall 2010 graduation and have rewarded hundreds more since then.
- The Get Your Blue On program’s mission is to build pride in the Western community Western has long been dedicated to being the best university of its kind in the nation and the Alumni Association has developed this program to enhance your Western experience by building pride on and off campus You don’t have to be a Western alumnus, staff, faculty, or student to celebrate Western Wednesday. You just need to show your Western pride on Western Wednesday and enjoy the benefits.
- To enhance the Western Pride on campus the Alumni Association has provided a variety of program to encourage the staff, faculty, and students to participate on Western Wednesday. The Traveling Goodies Basket is a friendly competition where departments submit a photo showcasing their Western pride on campus, the Alumni Association will reward the selected department with some Western themed goodies. The Western Wednesday Booths feature our unique partnership with The Woods Coffee in various locations on campus. We provide complementary Viking Blend Coffee, a variety of hot beverages, and a chance to wine Western themed prizes. We have also included a Western Wednesday Wine raffle drawing as an incentive for more staff and faculty to visit the Western Wednesday Booth. The Why Get Your Blue On Video Scholarship Contest for current students. This is an opportunity for current students to showcase their Western pride by submitting a short video for a chance to receive one of three scholarships. We have other various programs each quarter that is exclusive to Western faculty and staff on-campus, such as Brews with Bruce (wine and beer tasting) and free cheesecakes We are also in the process of establishing more on campus programs to enhance the Western experience of the staff, faculty, and students.
- The Alumni Association is always looking for local partners to help us celebrate Western Wednesday. We anticipate on increasing the Western Wednesday promotions to further enhance the pride in the Western community. There are already current weekly promotions for Western Wednesday, but we anticipate on increasing those benefits to better serve the Western community. Such as The Woods Coffee We have partnered with The Woods Coffee (provide Viking Blend Coffee for Western Wednesday Booths) and the AS Bookstore who offer a 10-20% discount on Western apparel purchased on any Wednesday. If you know of any business interested in collaborating with Western or would like to recommend your favorite business, please have them contact Jeniene at the Alumni Association.
- According to a recent survey, approximately 83% own Western gear and only 17% don’t own any. So we know that our staff, faculty, and students have Western pride. The Alumni Association has partnered with a local business to provide quality Western professional attire for Western supporters to purchase. We currently have a white polo and men/women’s dress shirt available. Any shirt ordered will come with the new Alumni Logo For more information and sizing inquiries, please contact the Alumni Association.
