Facilities that are adjacent to water bodies can experience
substantial problems with their seawalls and bulkheads due
to water infiltration and the washing out of support soils.
The support soil degradation can cause severe operational
interruption due to issues such as shifting seawalls, sinking
drivelanes, and reduced structural weight-bearing capacity
for heavy equipment or buildings.
Ground Works Solutions (GWS) offers managers of marine
facilities a unique solution for stabilizing support soils in a
quick, minimally invasive and cost-effective manner. GWS
offers the following services for marine facilities:
• Structural Lifting, Leveling and Stabilization
• Seawall Stabilization and Sealing
• Craneway / Driveway Stabilization
• Infrastructure Stabilization and Rehabilitation
• Environmental Containment
The URETEK polymer injection process allows (GWS) to
directly inject its rigid structural geopolymer into the
problem area to bind and stabilize loose soils. Once the
weak soil locations are determined, GWS injects its URETEK
polymers through ½” steel tubes either through the surface
or the structure itself depending on accessibility. Once
injected, the two-part polymer seeks out voids, densifies and
binds the weak soils and vastly increasing their weight-
bearing capacity.
URETEK polymers are environmentally inert and hydro-
insensitive, meaning they do not leech environmental
contaminants and water does not affect the integrity of the
polymer, protecting the structure against future water
erosion.
