Two caterpillars are conversing and a beautiful butterfly floats by. One caterpillar turns and says to the other, "You'll never get me up on one of those butterfly things." consider the meanings of this story. It may seem like what John McEnroe said on losing to Tim Mayotte in a professional indoor tennis championship: "This taught me a lesson, but I'm not sure what it is." ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
"One cannot become a butterfly by remaining a caterpillar."
THE STORY A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, " Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?” The crow answered: " Sure, why not .”
So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared,
Jumped on the rabbit... and ate it.
THE LESSON Moral of the story is…. To be sitting and doing nothing you must be sitting very, very high up.

I just wanted to write you a little thank you note for everything that you have done for me over the past two years. I have learned a lot and had a whole lot of fun doing it. I loved basically everything we did in your class, because you made it fun. You made it, so we learned without even realizing we were learning anything, but when it came time to show that we knew it, we were like, "Whoa! I guess I really did learn something!" Not only did you teach us about science, you put us in real case scenarios and helped prepare us for high school and even college. But even further than that, you were like a friend to me. That might scare you a little, but you really remind me of myself, and I hope I grow up to be at least a little like you. I feel, you genuinely care about your students and sincerely enjoy your job ... Thank you for being such a great teacher and friend. Thanks 1,000 times!

What makes a good teacher? One who has Enthusiasm Knowledge An open mind and who is a Good student
The teacher is no longer the source of all knowledge, but is the facilitator of learning. In other words, not the " sage on the stage ," but the "guide on the side." Who is a Teacher Now?
Learning is: @ an exploitation of the capacities of the mind to make sense of the environment @ typically a PRIVATE PROCESS, taking place in the PUBLIC CONTEXT @ takes place between two kinds of participants
While learning has many ends, teaching has only one: to enable or cause learning.
The Paradox of the Profession !! ,[object Object],[object Object],2. Teaching is accountable to its effects on Learning, But Learning is made accountable!!
Learning is NOT The Product of Teaching Learning is the Product of the activity of the Learner

STUDENT BEHAVIOUR Noisy Entry into the class-room Comes in constantly late Comes in, again, smirking. Fails to bring the book. Turns around and engages in conversation. Makes faces at others. How many times have I told you to come in quietly? Hm! Coming from FIL’s house!? Take that grin off your face. I suppose it would be too much for you to take any interest in what we are doing. Come and sit here in front. Turn your head to the blackboard.
