The best English language presentation on the differences between the US Green Building Council's LEED system and the Chinese government's Ministry of Construction Three Star green building rating system. Also a great overview on how rating systems drive market transformation.
Presented by Gunnar Hubbard, CEO of Fore Solutions, on March 25th, 2009 at a green building event at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing.
The presentation will include the following topics:
- Fundamentals of energy modeling
- Overview of the eQUEST energy modeling program
- Recommendations for integrating energy modeling into the design process
- Brief description of baseline energy modeling using ASHRAE Appendix G
- Recommended strategies for reducing energy use
- How to review energy modeling results
-Common problems and how to avoid them
amount of energy used is equal to amount of renewable energy created on the site
reduce carbon emissions & reduce dependence on fossil fuels
Buildings that produce a surplus of energy over the year are called “Energy Surplus Buildings”
During the last 20 years more than 200 reputable projects claiming net zero energy balance have been realized all over the world.
NZEB buildings consequently contribute less overall greenhouse gas to the atmosphere than similar non-ZNE buildings. They do at times consume non-renewable energy and produce greenhouse gases, but at other times reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas production elsewhere by the same amount. Traditional buildings consume 40% of the total fossil fuel energy in all over the world and are significant contributors of greenhouse gases.

Building simulation is the process of using a computer to build a virtual replica of a building.
The building is built from its component parts on a computer and a simulation is performed by taking that building through the weather conditions of an entire year.
In a way, building simulation is a way to quantitatively predict the future and thus has considerable value.
Building simulation is commonly divided into two categories:
Load Design,
Energy-Analysis.
The common phrase for building simulation when energy is involved is Energy-Simulation.

The IGBC Green Interior Rating programme is designed to address the specific requirements of tenants-occupied commercial spaces. The rating can also be applied by owner occupied spaces, provided they have not already addressed these in the main building.
The rating is ideally suited but not limited to office interior fit-outs, malls, retail spaces, hotels, restaurants, resorts, IT spaces, banks and other buildings.

A high performance green building is designed for economic and environmental performance over its entire life cycle, considering unique local climate and cultural needs and providing for the health, safety and productivity of its occupants. With continuous care over its life cycle, it minimises energy use, CO2 emissions, and total environmental impacts, and provides ongoing measurable value to building owners, occupants and society.

What are the new LEED AP specialty designations? How will they differ from my current LEED AP status and what are the benefits? What resources are there to help me pass the exam? What are the requirements for maintaining the LEED AP Specialty credentials? If I'm a LEED Green Associate or LEED AP, what do I need to do to maintain my credential?
This is a 1-hr presentation on the new LEED AP specialty designations and maintaining your LEED Credential. The new specialty exams include: Building Design and Construction (the old NC), Interior Design and Construction (the old CI), Operations and Maintenance (the old EBOM), Homes, and Neighborhood Development. Get answers to the above questions and bring questions of your own.

Meeting Today's Sustainability Challenges: Carbon Footprinting and More... Ryan Henkensiefken
California has always been a leader in health and environmental initiatives; it was the first state to have a statewide smoking ban, and it has one of the strictest air pollution requirements in the U.S. after Assembly Bill 32 was passed in 2006. This mode of thinking has also carried over into the construction industry as well. The City of San Francisco is now contemplating requiring the carbon footprint be calculated for any new public building being built. In order for the concrete industry to calculate our carbon footprint, we need an easy to use tool that can be used accurately and reliably. Currently there are several international and domestic groups working on developing standards that concrete producers can use to develop the necessary tools that will be needed in the future. This presentation will highlight one such standard being developed by the Carbon Leadership Forum from the University of Washington and show how this standard is being used by a producer in the Bay Area to accurately report their carbon footprint.
GREEN LEASES
Acquisitions of triple net leased buildings have become extremely popular as passive investors
looking for bond‐like returns in commercial real estate continue to enter the market. In a NNN lease, several
of the identifiable benefits of green buildings such as lower utility costs and improved occupant productivity
flow directly to the tenant’s bottom line. Many owners of NNN leased buildings, content with their existing
non‐green investments and unconvinced by other benefits, consequently find little incentive to incur
greening costs from which they do not directly profit. ‘Green leases’ have been suggested as a remedy for
the valid apprehension of owners regarding the disproportionate financial burden in greening their
buildings.

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.
Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.
