This exhibition displays student posters from a museum studies workshop class in 2015-2016. The posters explore personal experiences and are organized into five themes: personal stories, the five senses, material culture, city spaces, and society. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on how individual experiences are shared and to think about transitional narratives between the themes. It is curated by student interns and encourages viewers to provide feedback in a comment book.

Emergency Art

Two talks will be hosted by Sabsay Gallery during Copenhagen Art Week 2019 to discuss the ability of artists and museums to influence the world. The first talk on May 24th will feature the directors of AROS and Sabsay Gallery along with artist Thierry Geoffroy. The second talk on May 27th will include the Director of Statens Museum for Kunst along with Thierry Geoffroy. Sabsay Gallery hopes these talks will stimulate dialogue about how art can encourage social development locally and globally.

The technical mastery of an artist remains central to aesthetic enjoyment, with postmodern art intertwining the artist and viewer experiences in a "state of being" that promotes a postmodern lifestyle.

Nicholas Gusovsky was a 15th century Belarusian poet and humanist who represented the Renaissance period. He was born in a village in Belarus and came from a family of hunters. He received a diploma from a cathedral school and furthered his education at universities in Bologna, Vilna, and Krakow. His most famous work, "Song of the Bison," was published in Krakow in 1528. Gusovsky died in Poland in 1533. He is remembered in Belarus as an important figure in Belarusian culture, with a monument in his honor at the Belarusian State University in Minsk.

Abstract art developed in the late 19th century as artists felt a need for a new art form that reflected the fundamental changes in technology, science, and philosophy. It uses forms, colors, and lines instead of attempting to represent recognizable reality. In the 20th century, several movements contributed to abstract art becoming more removed from visual references, including Romanticism, Impressionism, and Expressionism. Artists like Kandinsky and Mondrian were also influenced by Eastern and occult philosophies. During this time, abstract art developed in Russia, Germany, France, and the United States. It became an international art movement as artists fled Europe during World War II and spread abstract styles around the world.

Modern art emerged in the late 1800s as artists broke from traditional styles and subjects to experiment. Two influential modern works were Jay DeFeo's giant painting "The Jewel" from 1958-1959 and Frantisek Kupka's "Irregular Forms: Creation." While using the same medium of oil paint on canvas, the works conveyed very different feelings. DeFeo's piece was lush and organic, while Kupka's had a sense of movement and energy.
