Grand Theft Auto IV was initially released in 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was later released for PC in December 2008 to expand its audience. The game allowed players to engage in a variety of real-world activities and follow a main story as the character Niko Bellic. By 2010, over 17 million copies of GTA IV had been sold globally. Rockstar Games also released two episodic expansions for the game and a compilation called Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. The game continues to thrive through multiplayer features, downloadable updates, and partnerships that enhance the in-game experience.

 GTA audiences are mainly over 18s, but it is well known that younger people
also play the game, whilst ignoring the age rating. The game is also
advertised as a racing game which lowers the seriousness of the game,
although this increases GTA’s target market.
 GTA was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, then later adapted for the
PC to reach a new audience of computer gamers. It seems that GTA had
decided to release the game into the exclusive market of PlayStation and
Xbox, although when the sales has eased down, the game was finally released
on the PC.
 Key features of the game: the game contains hundreds of real life activities
from watching television to browsing the Internet for a small price. The game
contains hundreds of mission which follow the main story of the game. The
main feature of the game is the ability for the player to insert himself into the
world of Niko Bellic.

2.  On 3 March 2010, Take-Two Games announced that Grand Theft Auto IV has
sold 15 million units globally. On 9 June 2010, Take-Two announced that
Grand Theft Auto IV had sold over 17 million copies.
 Rockstar Games released two episodic content for GTA IV. These two
episodes were first relesed separately on Xbox Live as downloadable content,
requiring the original game to play. Following that in October 2009 they
were released as part of a standalone game called GTA: Episodes From
Liberty City for the Xbox 360 that does not require the original GTA game.
Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition, including the original Grand Theft
Auto IV and its two episodic expansions, is listed on online stores to be
released for Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 26, 2010. The compilation has
been confirmed by Rockstar.
 During the build up to the release of the game, Rockstar had created
websites, which contained small information about the game. Also they have
made some low cost posters, which suggested a new game coming soon.
Currently GTA thrives by having the multiplayer feature which allows the
player to play the game without following the story line. Rockstar currently
releases new updates and downloadable content which gives the audience
something new in the game, increasing their gaming experience. Following a
partnership between Rockstar Games and Amazon.com, players are able to
purchase real world MP3s through GTA IV's in-game mobile phone. Players
are able to mark radio songs that they like by dialing ZIT-555-0100 on Niko's
phone. They will then receive a text message providing the name of the song
and the artist. If a player is registered on Rockstar's 'Social Club' website he
or she will also receive a real world e-mail with a link to an Amazon.com
playlist where all of the player's marked songs will be listed and available to
purchase.
