Mandate GS1 standards compliance by all suppliers within defined deadline (1-2
months) - supplier ramp up kit with detailed roadmap
Ask for GS1 India certificate assuring valid GS1 prefix number (will prevent code
duplications, misuse of prefix by unauthorised users). This will ensure clean item
masters
For pvt/etailer own brands, use GS1 prefix number allocated to generate GTIN-13
barcodes and not system generated/proprietary product codes since data
alignment/synchronization is possible only with GS1 codes
