This GS revision incorporates the following updates:
All Standard Functions:
Interface sketches updated.
All standard functions edited to make the requirements clearer.
Animation examples updated and added.
“Maintenance inhibit” terminology is now reserved exclusively for executive safety
inputs (DIS, DIS_LM, AIS, and F&G detectors in GS EP INS 198).
PCS and valve typicals now use the term « maintenance mode », related treatment
and animation are unchanged.

3. GS EP INS 196 – Input and Output Standard Functions
Safety Related Standard Functions (DIS, DIS_LM, AIS, DO)
 Maintenance Inhibit and Startup Inhibit function is relocated from the safety bar
standard function to the safety input standard function (DIS, DIS_LM, AIS).
Consequently, “enable/disable” is no longer used.
New DIS typical (digital input DI split into DI for PCS and DIS for safety). Includes a
DIS-D and DIS-E selector. DI_LM renamed DIS_LM.
Clarification of the definition of input / output card fault (card incapable of
processing the input/output or value is considered invalid).
Simplification of the maintenance function and master inhibit keyswitch text.
Automatic Start up inhibit explanation clarified. Only applied for LL threshold on
AIS.
AIS square root extraction option added
Start up inhibit countdown timer added to process displays to distinguish with
maintenance inhibit.

Process Control Related Standard Functions (AI, DI, RAI, DO, HIC)
AI process view representation updated.
Simplification of master inhibit key text.
Clarification of the definition of input / output card fault (card incapable of
processing the input/output or value is considered invalid).
Simplification of the maintenance function and master inhibit keyswitch text.
Maintenance Inhibit function is moved to the safety input typical instead of the
safety bar. Consequently, Input “Enable/disable” is no longer required.
AI square root extraction option added.
RAI now only performs discrepancy alarming, automatic switching removed.
HIC animation added.
DO animation updated.
