Growing Up
Going back to
CHRIST
2 Corinthians 7:10
2 Corinthians 7:10
“Godly sorrow brings
repentance that leads to
salvation and leaves no regret,
but worldly sorrow brings
death.”
Growing Up
Going back to CHRIST
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love
of money and be content with
what you have, because God has
said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”
Psalm 118:8
It is better to trust in the Lord than
to put confidence in man.

What Is Your Response to
Sorrow / Sin?
Stumbling or Falling?
Peter & Judas
They both have:
The Greatest / Only Pastor
The Greatest Leader
The Greatest Teacher
The Wisest
The Greatest Friend
Both called to be His Disciples
Peter & Judas
They both have:
Stay day & night with the Son of God
– for 3 years
They saw Miracles &
Witnessed everything from Jesus
Peter & Judas
But both have Failed and sinned
against Jesus in a terrible way.
Peter & Judas
What is their Crucial Difference?
Their FAITH!
Their RESPONSE!
Peter Stumbled, But Judas Fell
Peter & Judas
•Peter's heart was right with Jesus,
even though he stumbled, he had
Humility, Repentance
•Peter's intent was to repent, stay
faithful and humble no matter
what
Peter & Judas
•Judas' heart was not right with
Jesus--- he was opposed to Christ
•Judas loved money, he is the
money keeper of the group
•For him, following Jesus was
about money, power and position
•His intent was to sell Jesus out
and betray him
Peter & Judas
They are both equally terrible, but
the difference is in what their
sorrow produced:
Judas felt sorry enough to commit
suicide.
Peter felt sorry enough to return to
Jesus.
Peter & Judas
Judas has REMORSE
Peter had REPENTANCE
REMORSE
yung may nagawa kang mali nalungkot
ka, naguilty pero wala kang ginawa
para malinis o maitama ang
pagkakamali mo. AT HINDI MO
SINURRENDER KAY LORD.
Ang masakit ay lumayo ka na lang bigla
sa Diyos at hindi na bumalik at hindi na
magpakumbaba. (JUDAS)
REPENT
(PETER)
Peter & Judas
The problem is NOT the
Leadership or the Church you
belong:
It is our Attitude, Character
willingness to be humbly corrected
and transformed
And raising ONLY HIS NAME.
Peter & Judas
Repentance is a sorrow for
SINS which produces a
reformation of LIFE. Without
the fruits of a CHANGED Life,
there is no genuine repentance.
Peter & Judas
Judas had remorse over his
BETRAYAL of Christ but with
NO TRANSFORMATION of
character.
Peter REPENTED and TURNED
from SIN.
2 Corinthians 7:10
“Godly sorrow brings
repentance that leads to
salvation and leaves no regret,
but worldly sorrow brings
death.”
Luke 22:32
But I have prayed for you,
Simon, that your faith may not
fail. And when you have turned
back, strengthen your
brothers.”
Growing Up
Going back to CHRIST
“The perseverance of the
saints is made up of ever new
beginnings.”
We are all imperfect!
Who among us has sinned? All
of us.
Good News is: When we do ask
God's forgiveness and turn our
hearts to Him, He forgives us
absolutely and completely.
Growing Up
Going back to CHRIST
God gave new beginnings to
Abraham, Moses, David,
Jonah, and Peter when they
stumbled, and He does the
same for us today
We are all imperfect!
God gives us everyday, daily
new beginnings To be like Him,
To be with Him, To be For Him –
And All Because of Him
We are all imperfect!
Genuine Repentance requires
more than simply offering
apologies – it requires words
BUT with our actions, change
of character, submitting and
GOING BACK to CHRIST – this
is how we Grow.
Psalm 37:23-24
The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
though he may stumble, he will
not fall, for the Lord upholds
him with his hand.
Growing Up
Going back to CHRIST
As Christians, we stumble, we
commit mistakes, we sin – but
as a believer, we get up,
humble ourselves, repent and
return to Christ.

Editor's Notes

  • #10 Similarities between Judas and Peter -Both were called by Christ to be his disciples -Both witnessed the miracles of Jesus (healing the sick, casting out evil spirits, raising the dead, his power and authority over nature) -Both heard Jesus expound the Scriptures and teach on the nature of his kingdom and what it meant to be His follower -Both had unique positions amongst the 12. Peter was one of Jesus' inner circle. Judas was the money keeper of the group. -Both sinned against Jesus in a terrible way -Both influenced by Satan (get behind Satan said Jesus to Peter after he spoke out against Jesus talking about his coming death and resurrection- Matthew 16:21-23) Satan entered in Judas - Luke 22:3 -Jesus warned both that they would fall away and fail.
