Living the Gospel GODCOMPANY Sri Lanka
What is the Gospel The Gospel is the good news of the LIFE , TEACHINGS , SACRIFICE, THE CRUCIFIXION & DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST THAT PROVIDES FULL AND FREE DELIVERANCE FROM THE POWER AND PENALTY OF SIN according to the grace of God alone THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE.
What is living the Gospel Mathew 7 : 24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.     25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, BECAUSE IT HAD ITS FOUNDATION ON THE ROCK. When we live in-keeping with the teachings found in the gospel Christians will build their life on a solid foundation that enables us to face “WHATEVER” the world may throw at us ... As Christians we are expected by Jesus to live the Gospel
Matthew 5  14 “ YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD . A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE BEFORE OTHERS, THAT THEY MAY SEE YOUR GOOD DEEDS AND GLORIFY YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN. ... by living in-keeping with the teachings found in the gospel Christians will set a LIVING EXAMPLE ( be a LIGHT unto others ), who will see our GOODNESS and then glorify our God and turn to Him...an emphasis made by Jesus for all Christians...a very important aspect to being a Christian... ... BE AN EXAMPLE...! Jesus expects us to be an example… Living the Gospel
Matthew 5  46 IF YOU LOVE THOSE WHO LOVE YOU, WHAT REWARD WILL YOU GET? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, WHAT ARE YOU DOING MORE THAN OTHERS? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Here Jesus is showing us how we should be different to others. Jesus says Loving your own, your friends and relatives can be done by anybody. He wants us to be very different by loving others... TO BE THE SALT OF THE EARTH . To consistently move towards perfection... The Gospel teaches us to live a life that enables us to consistently moves towards perfection… Living the Gospel
Benefits of Living the Gospel You will experience Freedom from the vice like grip of Sin and begin a new life You will experience the power of Faith and benefit from Gods presence in your life. You will begin to live in the light and repel darkness and evil from your life You will learn to love, forgive and get rid of negative human emotions like anger, vengeance, spitefulness, ego-centeredness ect… You will bring great Joy in to your life and to others around you. You will delight in the assurance and protection of God’s love and Blessings upon your life. You will grow to be more like Jesus. YOU WILL…!
What happens… By reading, understanding and living in keeping with teachings of Jesus found in the Gospel His word will start to speak back to you every time you breach any of the teachings ( an alert?) These alerts will soon make you REPENT for acceding to such deeds and will persecute you to refrain from actions contrary to His teachings.
REPENTANCE is the all important word. Through Repentance we can seek redemption and salvation from our sins. Luke 5: 32 “ I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to REPENTANCE .” . Matthew 3: 17 17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, REPENT , for the kingdom of heaven is near.
It is a change of mind, that leads to a change of heart, that leads to a change in actions. A change that involves both a turning from Sin and a turning to God. What is Repentance?
In “Religion” the purpose of REPENTANCE is basically to keep God happy so he will continue to bless us and answer our prayers. This is a general understanding. The meaning of REPENTANCE differs for Christians. We believe in a living God who has left us great teachings in the Gospels… In the Gospel the purpose of REPENTANCE is to return to a union with Christ in order to involve in a spiritual process to weaken our desire to do anything contrary to His teachings
TRUE REPENTANCE True repentance deals with sins and the reasons behind them. It is painful like when you have hurt your best friend. It is a deep emotional response of sadness for the reason of failing. False repentance is only looking for a quick form of pain relief. Repentance is Not a Cosmetic one applies. It is much more deep seeded. It is a change of mind, that leads to a change of heart, that leads to a change in actions. A change that involves both a turning from Sin and a turning to God. A new life…!

PS. Food for thought…
Many of our Churches spread around the world and in a myriad of denominations diligently seek to convert more and more to Christianity… … and our numbers will grow Jesus told us of a very clear way in which we could grow in numbers… He wanted us to BE A LIVING EXAMPLE ON TO OTHERS so that they would notice our good deeds and GLORIFY OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.
44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. AND THE LORD ADDED TO THEIR NUMBER DAILY THOSE WHO WERE BEING SAVED. A good example from the early Christians…. Acts 2: Actions that caused the early believers to be noticed and for many to convert to being a Christ follower.
As a Christian if you are able to be a living example to JUST ONE PERSON with the objective of bringing that person to God… … and similarly all Christians work at being a living example to JUST ONE PERSON to bring one such soul to God… We would be doubling the size of the church within one Year!
