Principles of Assessment
According to Corpuz and Salandanan (2009)
1. Assessment of learning is an integral part of the teaching and learning
process.
2. Assessment tool should match with performance objective.
3. Comprehensive assessment requires variety of procedures (method).
4. The results of assessment must be fed back to the learners.
5. Emphasize self-assessment.
6. Assessment of learning should not be used as punishment or as a
disciplinary measure.
Principles of Assessment

7. Results of learning assessments must be communicated regularly and
clearly to parents.
8. Emphasize on real world application to gain realistic performances
over out-of-context drill items.
9. The bell curve mentality should not influence the thinking that failures
are always expected.
10.Teachers must consider learners’ learning styles and multiple
intelligences.
11. Give positive feedback with not so good ones.
