3. • We are living in the world where everything
goes to be automatic from your washing
machine to your ceiling fan. Streetlights are one
of those examples of automatic world.
• Automatic Street light are those light which
needs no manual operation to gets turn ON and
OFF.
8. CONSTRUCTION
• Pin no 6 is connected to pin no 2.
• Pin no 4 is connected to pin no 8.
• A resistor is connected between pin no 1 and
pin no 2.
• A LDR is placed between pin no 4 and pin no
2.
• LED is connected between pin no 1 and pin no
3.
9. WORKING
• When light falls on the LDR then its resistance
decreases which results in increase of the voltage
at pin 2 of the IC 555.
• IC 555 has got comparator inbuilt, which compares
between the input voltage from pin2 and 1/3rd of
the power supply voltage.
• When input falls below 1/3rd then output is set
high otherwise it is set low.
• Since in brightness, input voltage rises so we
obtain no positive voltage at output of pin 3 to
drive LED, besides in poor light condition we get
output to energize.
10. ADVANTAGES
• Requires less maintenance than conventional
street lights.
• The automatic street light system is eco-
friendly.
• Cost of operating automatic solar street lights
is far less when compared to the conventional
street lights.
• It does not external wiring or having to
connect with the grid.
11. DISADVANTAGES
• Generation of energy for solar street light
entirely depends upon the climatic conditions.
• Risk of theft of the automatic street light
system is relatively higher since they are non-
wired & are much expensive.
• Rechargeable batteries of the automatic street
light system are required to be replaced a few
times.
• Snow, dust or moisture can accumulate of PV
panels which can hinder energy production.
12. CONCLUSION
• The process in science & technology is a non-stop process. New
things and new technology are being invented.
• As the technology grows day by day, we can imagine about the
feature in which thing we may occupy every place. The
presentation of “AUTOMATIC STREET LIGHT” needs no manual
operation for switching ON and OFF.
• When there is need of light it automatically switches ON. It is
much useful in our day life.
• When darkness arises, if we forget to switch ON the street light
it may leads to cause accident. So our design will make to
prevent such kind of problems, and also it helps passengers to
travel safely.
• Hence we conclude that the principle of the development of
science is that “Nothing is Impossible”. So we shall look to a
growth of science in bright world.
