This document provides instructions for a group assignment in a Construction Technology course. Students are assigned to groups and must choose from one of six topics related to innovative building structural elements. The topics include insulated building systems, earth retaining wall systems, pre-stressing/post-tensioning structural elements, and steel space frame roofs. Each group must include in their assignment and presentation an introduction of their topic, how the structural elements are manufactured, advantages and disadvantages of using the element, examples of real projects that used the element, and properly cited references. Groups will do a 15 minute presentation on their topic starting in Week 10. The final assignment report of no more than 2000 words and presentation slides is due in Week 14.
