But as we see this light, as it illuminates our souls, it then ignites us, it revolutionizes us, so that we ourselves, become the light that others can see.
The document discusses the mission, motive, method, and purpose of ministry. It states that our mission is to make disciples by going, baptizing, and teaching others to obey Jesus' commands, as outlined in the Great Commission. Our motive should be to love God and love people, as Jesus demonstrated. Our method is through the church, walking as Jesus walked. The overall purpose is making disciples who make disciples, and glorifying God through completing the work he has given us.
1) The passage discusses a dialogue between God and Moses where God instructs Moses to ascend a mountain and see the land of Israel before his death.
2) When told he cannot enter the land, Moses' primary concern is appointing a successor to lead the Israelites rather than arguing for his own life. He asks God to appoint a new leader.
3) God then instructs Moses to appoint Joshua as the new leader, demonstrating that both God and human leadership are needed for the Israelites. Moses encourages Joshua and charges him with leading the people into the land of Israel.
Thank you for sharing that meaningful Passover reflection. I appreciate how it draws connections between God's deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt and God continuing to call people to freedom today.
This document discusses principles of spiritual leadership and evangelism. It emphasizes that modern leadership theories should not replace the foundation laid by Christ, and that true evangelism centers on acknowledging sin, repentance, and spiritual surrender. Effective laborers are needed to harvest souls for God and spread the Gospel message. The Holy Spirit guides believers and empowers them to do God's work, and all the resources of heaven are available to help save the lost. The document encourages patient trust in God's leading and cultivating patience as believers await the Spirit's guidance.
This document discusses the purpose of the church and life. It explains that the ultimate goal is to bring the reign and rule of God over all aspects of His creation by proclaiming the gospel, making disciples who obey Jesus' commands, and demonstrating love. The ultimate purpose is to glorify God and Jesus so that they may be worshiped. When this happens, God's glory is revealed and more people give Him thanks.
The document discusses the anointing that comes from God's Holy Spirit. It provides several biblical examples of figures being anointed, including Aaron, David, Saul, Jesus, and Solomon. The anointing brings wisdom, power, and a sweet fragrance. It allows people to understand spiritual truths and remain in God. Physical oil was a symbol of the Holy Spirit's anointing, which empowers believers for service, preaching, and continues God's priesthood.
The document discusses the person and role of the Holy Spirit. It states that the Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity and has the same attributes as God, such as being omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. The Holy Spirit helps believers by interceding for them, revealing spiritual truths, and transforming them into the image of Christ. The document encourages allowing the Holy Spirit to guide one's life in order to avoid sin and make good decisions. It concludes that the Holy Spirit does the works of God.

This document contains the text of a sermon given at Gospel Baptist Tabernacle. The sermon discusses wisdom, the Word of God, and Jesus Christ being present at creation based on passages from Proverbs, John, and Matthew. It encourages believers to receive Jesus as savior and submit to him as Lord by obeying God's word through the power of the Holy Spirit. Choosing to love and obey God leads to blessing, while hating him leads to death. God wants believers to willingly love him in return for his love.

This document explores what it means for humans to be created in the image and likeness of God, as described in Genesis 1:26. It references several Bible passages about humanity's creation from dust, God breathing life into humans, humans being lower than heavenly beings but having eternity in their hearts. The document examines the dual nature of humans as physical beings that die but also having immortal souls, and what it means for humans to gain the world but forfeit their souls. The overall message is to understand humanity's relationship to God by examining what the Bible says about being created in God's image.
Motivation comes from an inner drive or reason to act in a certain way. Successful motivation involves getting people to willingly do what is needed for a divine vision. Motivation comes through having a clear understanding of God's timing and purpose, faith that God rewards those who seek Him, a desire to please God and be rewarded, clear goals, strong relationships, personal growth, and modeling examples of faith and leadership. Providing recognition, enjoyment in tasks, and breaks can also boost motivation.

This document discusses how a believer's income is "fixed" by God, not in the traditional sense of a fixed income from retirement or disability, but rather fixed in blessings. It explores different meanings of "fixed" including to repair something broken, to predetermine an outcome, to get an addictive dose, and to get even with an adversary. The document encourages believers that what was broken in their lives has been fixed by God, their victorious outcome has been predetermined, they can be addicted to God's word and promises, and they can fix injustices by making up for mistakes. It defines a believer's income broadly as additions or increases of love, grace, mercy, peace, revelation, favor, promotion,

This document discusses how God often surprises us in unexpected ways. It provides several biblical examples of when Jesus encountered people in surprising ways, such as stopping in Samaria and speaking to a Samaritan woman at the well. The document also discusses how God works incrementally over long periods of time, with bursts of growth and change. It prompts reflection on where we have experienced God's surprises and what might be getting in the way of fully following Jesus. The overall message is that God frequently works in our lives in unexpected and surprising ways.
April 19.2015 -Sunday Message EYES FIXED ON THE LORD JESUS (message completion)Catherine Lirio
This document discusses how to "soar on wings like eagles" by keeping one's eyes fixed on Jesus. It provides four things that must be done: 1) have a strong love for God, 2) have a strong fear of God, 3) have eyes fixed immovably on Jesus, and 4) do not allow anything to distract from focusing on Jesus with undivided attention. Maintaining this focus on Jesus through refusing all distractions allows one to walk supernaturally and overcome doubts that could cause one to "sink".
BLC Sermon - Christ's Compelling Call: Upwards & Outwards Towards Our Deep G...Leigh Wong
BLC Sermon based on the week's liturgical readings: Isaiah 40:21-31; Psalm 147:1-11, 20c; 1 Corinthians 9:16-23 and Mark 1:29-39; and along the preaching theme, "Upwards and Outwards". It explores the themes of our calling as Christians, integrating work and faith, and reaching out to the world around us. It also draws on the work of Timothy Keller's book, "Every Good Endeavor". More info and a sermon summary is available here: http://wp.me/p570x-K
The document discusses what is needed to "soar on wings like eagles" and reach high success. It says there must be a strong right wing of love for God, a strong left wing of fear of God, and two sharp eyes fixed on Jesus. It provides examples of how to show strong love for God through obedience, choosing to remain in Him despite difficulties, loving all people including enemies, overcoming worldliness, teaching others, and loving God more than anyone else. The overall message is that a deep love for God is necessary to attain great heights in life.
Salt and Light: You are the light of the worldStephen Palm
This document discusses Jesus' teaching that Christians are called to be a light to the world. It makes three main points:
1) We are called to dispel darkness with the light of Christ.
2) We are called to reveal Christ's light, not conceal it, like a lamp that is meant to shine outwardly, not be covered.
3) We reveal God's light through reflecting His glory, intensifying the light within us through the Spirit, and practically transmitting it to others through good works so that God receives glory.
This document discusses the importance of having a vision from God and faith accompanied by action. It asserts that having a big vision from God can lead to big results, but where there is no vision or revelation from God, people lack restraint and purpose. It encourages having faith in God and taking action guided by that faith in order to demonstrate faith through deeds. It also emphasizes that having the right mental picture, determined by God's vision, will guide a person's activities and ultimately their outcomes. The greatest thing is said to be love.
God treats his enemies with mercy, love and forgiveness. The document outlines that all people are inherently sinners and enemies of God, but God demonstrates his love by sending his son Jesus Christ to die for mankind and reconcile them to himself. Even those who actively oppose God or his people are offered salvation through repentance and faith in Jesus. God desires for no one to perish but all to come to repentance, and receives back anyone who turns from their sins and returns to him, just as the prodigal son was lovingly received by his father.
Dare To Be Great: Dare To Follow - Part 1Eddie Rivero
The document discusses the "Great Commandments" to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. It provides explanations for each: to love God with your heart means giving him your worship through avoiding idolatry and offering your life to him; to love God with your soul means giving him your obedience by following his commandments; to love God with your mind means giving him your focus by fixing your thoughts on what is true, pure, and excellent. The document encourages growing closer to God by keeping these Great Commandments.
This document discusses the concept of PCI, which stands for Broken, Beloved, Belonging, Building, and Bridging. It explores biblical passages about being called to share the light of Christ with others through serving as witnesses. Four metaphors are presented: servant, witness, salt, and light. Sharing the light of Christ comes at a cost of expending oneself for the sake of others.

This document discusses the metaphor of being a light in four key ways:
1) As servants who spread the light of Jesus Christ to others
2) As witnesses who tell the story of Jesus and how he has transformed their lives
3) With an attitude of salt that preserves others and enhances lives
4) By spreading the word of God which illuminates lives and imparts understanding
It acknowledges that bringing light to others often comes at personal cost to share God's love more fully.

This document contains several Bible verses and passages discussing various spiritual topics such as Jesus providing rest, not worrying about basic needs, the importance of prayer, serving God over money, Jesus coming to give life, being salt and light in the world, gaining salvation over worldly gains, truth and freedom, Jesus' conversation with Pilate, and the nature of spiritual warfare and the devil. It encourages focusing on noble thoughts and putting on spiritual armor in facing evil.
Matthew 28:18-20 and 5:13-16 provide the biblical basis for Christians to be change agents in the world by making disciples, being salt and light in the community, and letting their good deeds shine for God. The document outlines a plan for a church to become change agents through personal and corporate prayer for their community and cities, reading and obeying Scripture, and sharing their testimonies of life change with the goal of distributing Scripture to every home in their community. It asks the reader to commit to becoming an effective change agent with their church to carry out Christ's mission locally and beyond.
This document discusses the importance of prayer for the church. It provides several Bible passages that illustrate this. The key points are:
1. If the church is praying, it will be Spirit-filled (Acts 3:1, 16:25-26).
2. Prayer shows our love for God (Jeremiah 29:11-12, James 4:8).
3. Prayer will give the church a passion for the lost (Luke 18:1, 21:34-36).
The overall message is that prayer is essential for the church and will determine its effectiveness and greatness for God.
This document discusses how to identify and deal with "weeds" or negative influences. It provides biblical references to help understand what weeds are, including people who hear God's word but allow worries and pleasures to prevent spiritual maturity. It suggests identifying weeds by their lack of love, joy and other "fruits of the spirit." The document advises fortifying your mind by removing negative influences, while still showing love and gentleness to others. It emphasizes the importance of humility and adapting your approach based on your audience, as Paul demonstrated.
This document contains a collection of Bible verses and short passages on various topics related to faith. It discusses praising God, finding purpose and rest in Him, using imagination for His kingdom, and committing one's plans to God in prayer. The verses are interspersed with brief reflections on being still before God, seeing with the eyes of a child, and searching one's heart for ways to grow closer to Him. Overall, the document encourages drawing near to God through Scripture reading and meditating on spiritual themes.
This document discusses the greatness of the Great Commission given by Jesus. It summarizes that the Great Commission contains a great truth about Jesus' lordship, a great command to make disciples of all nations, and a great promise that Jesus will be with believers. It emphasizes that Christians are called to do more than share the gospel, and are commanded to teach obedience to all that Jesus commanded. It encourages believers to prioritize obeying the Great Commission and to never allow obstacles to deter them from this task.
It doesn’t matter if you're high as a kite on drugs, in the middle of an adulterous affair, or an addiction pain meds or pornography.
It doesn’t matter if you are torn up inside and confused about your gender, or if you are a chronic liar, or just a judgmental jerk of a person. God has sent Jesus to tell you that it is not too late, and that you can be a changed person forever, because you can be forgiven.
This document discusses what it means to be the light of the world based on Jesus' words in Matthew 5:14-16. It says Christians are called to shine their light to guide others toward Jesus, warn them about spiritual dangers, and glorify God through good deeds. Specific examples are given for each, such as taking a moral stand, speaking truth in love, and doing kind acts that give God the glory. The document encourages readers to evaluate how bright their light shines for Christ and to look for opportunities to encourage and serve others.

How can we be moved by God’s grace in our hearts? The first thing we need to know is to know God, that is, to obey God’s will, and to obtain God’s wisdom. Afterwards, God will give you all kinds of wisdom, and then we will be able to enter the body of Jesus Christ, and to know that all His richness is more than the elementary school in our world and human inheritance, it is even more transcendent. Then we continued to praise God's grace, read all kinds of hymns, and we also got the result of teaching and learning through coaching each other.
The Gospel message of Jesus Christ is as relevant today as it was during his time on Earth. People continue to struggle with feelings of hurt, depression, loss, and being separated from God due to sins and addictions. The document urges putting faith into action by sharing God's message so that others may be saved, healed, delivered, and set free from sin. It quotes several Bible passages about the importance of repenting from sins, being baptized, and turning to God in order to receive forgiveness and salvation through belief in Jesus Christ.

“Won’t you be my neighbor?” is an invitation to help somebody know that they are loved and capable of loving… Love is at the root of everything; love, or the lack of it.”
- Fred Rogers
Won't You Be my Neighbor? - Do This and You Will LiveCompassChurch
The document discusses the biblical story of the Good Samaritan from the book of Luke. It tells how a Samaritan helped a wounded man that was ignored by others, showing him mercy. It emphasizes having compassion for others and desiring mercy over sacrifice or rules, as Jesus called people to help others and not just follow religious laws. The document suggests we should emulate the Samaritan's compassionate actions.
The Real Deal: Overcoming The World The Easy WayCompassChurch
So you either overcome the world or the world overcomes you. Either you love the world and you become a slave to the world and you buy all that it sells you, you drink all of its Kool Aid only to have it turn on you and destroy you in the end. Or you figure out a way to live in this world so that you can prevail in it. Even you might say, overcome it.
The Real Deal: How To Love People (When You Don't Really Like Them)CompassChurch
The document discusses the importance of love according to 1 John 4:7-12. It says that God showed his love for us by sending his Son to be the atonement for our sins. Because of how much God has loved us, we ought to love one another. When we love one another, God remains in us and his love is perfected in us.
There’s a lot of empty space with people making empty claims about God and Jesus and life and truth, but those quite frankly don’t add up, they sound good, but they’re hollow like this wall, and they can’t support the weight of your life, and if you try to anchor yourself to it, you’ll fall.
This document discusses how Jesus Christ serves as our advocate and the propitiation for our sins. It notes that if we sin, we have an advocate in Jesus, who turned God's righteous anger into favor through his sacrifice. It emphasizes the importance of keeping God's commandments and walking as Jesus walked in order to know that we abide in him.
The Real Deal: The DIY Fake Jesus FilterCompassChurch
If you try to get me to get excited about a Jesus who went 90% of the way, that’s a crappy Jesus. If the Jesus you’re showing me did not completely cover my sin, so that my whole life is now lived in gratitude toward him, then you’ve got a FAKE JESUS.
People will say, "why does God even allow us to disobey him in the first place? Wouldn’t the world be so much better if he didn’t?" But at the same time, it is an opportunity for him to show His redemptive power, which is more than He could have done if we never needed to be rescued in the first place.
1.) Introduction
Our Movement is not new; it is the same as it was for Freedom, Justice, and Equality since we were labeled as slaves. However, this movement at its core must entail economics.
2.) Historical Context
This is the same movement because none of the previous movements, such as boycotts, were ever completed. For some, maybe, but for the most part, it’s just a place to keep your stable until you’re ready to assimilate them into your system. The rest of the crabs are left in the world’s worst parts, begging for scraps.
3.) Economic Empowerment
Our Movement aims to show that it is indeed possible for the less fortunate to establish their economic system. Everyone else – Caucasian, Asian, Mexican, Israeli, Jews, etc. – has their systems, and they all set up and usurp money from the less fortunate. So, the less fortunate buy from every one of them, yet none of them buy from the less fortunate. Moreover, the less fortunate really don’t have anything to sell.
4.) Collaboration with Organizations
Our Movement will demonstrate how organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, National Urban League, Black Lives Matter, and others can assist in creating a much more indestructible Black Wall Street.
5.) Vision for the Future
Our Movement will not settle for less than those who came before us and stopped before the rights were equal. The economy, jobs, healthcare, education, housing, incarceration – everything is unfair, and what isn’t is rigged for the less fortunate to fail, as evidenced in society.
6.) Call to Action
Our movement has started and implemented everything needed for the advancement of the economic system. There are positions for only those who understand the importance of this movement, as failure to address it will continue the degradation of the people deemed less fortunate.
No, this isn’t Noah’s Ark, nor am I a Prophet. I’m just a man who wrote a couple of books, created a magnificent website: http://www.thearkproject.llc, and who truly hopes to try and initiate a truly sustainable economic system for deprived people. We may not all have the same beliefs, but if our methods are tried, tested, and proven, we can come together and help others. My website: http://www.thearkproject.llc is very informative and considerably controversial. Please check it out, and if you are afraid, leave immediately; it’s no place for cowards. The last Prophet said: “Whoever among you sees an evil action, then let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; and if he cannot, then, with his heart – and that is the weakest of faith.” [Sahih Muslim] If we all, or even some of us, did this, there would be significant change. We are able to witness it on small and grand scales, for example, from climate control to business partnerships. I encourage, invite, and challenge you all to support me by visiting my website.

Gamify it until you make it Improving Agile Development and Operations with ...Ben Linders
So many challenges, so little time. While we’re busy developing software and keeping it operational, we also need to sharpen the saw, but how? Gamification can be a way to look at how you’re doing and find out where to improve. It’s a great way to have everyone involved and get the best out of people.
In this presentation, Ben Linders will show how playing games with the DevOps coaching cards can help to explore your current development and deployment (DevOps) practices and decide as a team what to improve or experiment with.
The games that we play are based on an engagement model. Instead of imposing change, the games enable people to pull in ideas for change and apply those in a way that best suits their collective needs.
By playing games, you can learn from each other. Teams can use games, exercises, and coaching cards to discuss values, principles, and practices, and share their experiences and learnings.
Different game formats can be used to share experiences on DevOps principles and practices and explore how they can be applied effectively. This presentation provides an overview of playing formats and will inspire you to come up with your own formats.

Why Psychological Safety Matters for Software Teams - ACE 2024 - Ben Linders.pdfBen Linders
Psychological safety in teams is important; team members must feel safe and able to communicate and collaborate effectively to deliver value. It’s also necessary to build long-lasting teams since things will happen and relationships will be strained.
But, how safe is a team? How can we determine if there are any factors that make the team unsafe or have an impact on the team’s culture?
In this mini-workshop, we’ll play games for psychological safety and team culture utilizing a deck of coaching cards, The Psychological Safety Cards. We will learn how to use gamification to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in teams. Individuals share what they have learned from working in teams, what has impacted the team’s safety and culture, and what has led to positive change.
Different game formats will be played in groups in parallel. Examples are an ice-breaker to get people talking about psychological safety, a constellation where people take positions about aspects of psychological safety in their team or organization, and collaborative card games where people work together to create an environment that fosters psychological safety.

2. “…the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great
light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow
of death, on them a light has dawned.”
– Matthew 4:16
3. “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of
the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in
darkness, but will have the light of life.”
– John 8:12
4. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill
cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put
it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to
all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine
before others, so that they may see your good works
and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
– Matthew 5:14-16
5. If you’re a Christian, your #1 priority while you are
alive on this planet is to crush the darkness. So light
yourself up and get after it!!
7. If My Light Is Going To Shine, I Need To Ask:
1) Do I Love God With “All My Heart”?
8. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is
the great and first commandment.”
- Matthew 22:37-38
9. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace
among those with whom he is pleased!”
– Luke 2:14
“Eighty six years I have served him,
and he has never once wronged me.
How then shall I blaspheme my king,
who has saved me?”
10. If My Light Is Going To Shine, I Need To Ask:
1) Do I Love God With “All My Heart”?
2) Do My Actions Make It Easy To See That I Love
God?
