Introduction To Green Building
• A Green Building, also known as a sustainable
building, is a structure that is designed, built,
renovated, operated, or re-used in anecological and
resource efficient manner.
Objectives Of Green Building.
• Reducing waste, pollution, and
environment degradation.
• Protecting occupant health and improving
human productivity.
• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and
energy loss in new homes and other new
buildings.
• Increase use of recycled and renewable
materials in new construction.
• Reduce construction waste.
• Satisfying and quality indoor spaces.
• Optimal environmental and economic
performance.
Importance of Green Building
• Nowadays, we should make a way to
maximize our natural resources and also
help our mother earth to get some relief
since pollution is everywhere plus the
global warming that we are all
experiencing.
• So we should protect our Earth by
reducing the pollution and other factors
which affect the environment.

Benefits of Green construction
There are various benefits of Green
construction They are :
1)Environmental benefits
2) Economic benefits
3) Social benefits
Environmental benefits
• Enhance and protect biodiversity and
ecosystems
• Improve air and water quality.
• Reduce waste streams.
• Conserve and restore natural
resources.
• Reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Economic benefits
• Reduce operating costs
• Create, expand, and shape markets
for green product and services.
• Improve occupant productivity
• Optimize life-cycle economic
performance.
Social benefits
• Enhance occupant comfort and health.
• Heighten aesthetic qualities.
• Minimize strain on local infrastructure.
• Improve overall quality of life.
Merits & Demerits
Merits :-
• Efficient Technologies
• Easier Maintenance
• Return On Investment
• Improved Indoor Air Quality
• Energy Efficiency
• Water Efficiency
• Waste Reduction.
• Temperature Moderation.
• Water Conservation.
• Economical Construction For Poor.
• Healthier Lifestyles and Recreation.
• Improved Health.
Demerites :-
• INITIAL COST IS HIGH.
• AVAILABILITY OF MATERIALS.
• NEED MORE TIME TO
CONSTRUCT.
• NEED SKILED WORKER.
Green Building Concept In
INDIA
• In India, there are predominantly three
rating systems :–
1)Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED),
2)The rating systems from Indian
Green Building Council (IGBC)
3)The Green Rating for Integrated
Habitat Assessment (GRIHA).

GREEN BUILDING IN INDIA
CURRENT SITIUATION OF
GREEN BUILDING
• However, there is lack of a systematic
review of this large number of studies
that is critical for the future endeavor.
• The last decades have witnessed rapid
growing number of studies on green
building.
• Future research opportunities were
identified such as effects of climatic
conditions on the effectiveness of
green building assessment tools,
validation of real performance of green
buildings, unique demands of specific
population, and future proofing.
CONCLUSION
• Green building is one of measures
been put forward to mitigate
significant impacts of the building
stock on the environment, society and
economy.
