This document describes traditional Greek agricultural tools and their uses. It divides the tools into 6 categories: (1) tools for digging like hoes and spades; (2) tools for plowing and sowing fields like coulters and harrows; (3) tools for harvesting like sickles; (4) tools for threshing and winnowing crops like sieve racks; (5) tools for grinding grains like mills and hand mills; and (6) other general tools like baskets and drying racks. The document was presented at the 4th Reunion of the Project "The Fairytale of the European Golden Future" held in Latvia from July 15-19, 2013 at the Special High School of Ilion

4. A. Tools for digging (excavating)
(1) Η τσάπα (tsapa) - The hoe:

6. B. Tools for plowing and sowing
the fields
(1) Το υνί (ini) - The coulter: It was an iron tool, single or double.
Drawn by horses, cows or donkeys and farmers scoured fields.
(2) Η Σβάρνα (svarna) - Harrow or plank: A large wooden square
mainly with nails on one side, used for the harrowing of the field
and straightening of the field.

(1) Το δρεπάνι - The sickle: Sharp iron tool
was used for cutting the plants

8. D. Tools for threshing and . Tools for threshing and

(1) Η Τζουγκράνα (Tzougkrana) : Wooden body with two or three teeth
on edge, like a giant fork, where they used to winnowing of any
production.
(2) Το κόσκινο(koskino)- The sieve: plate tool with holes, large and
small, where farmers separating the fruit from small straw

9. E. Tools for grinding and general processing of
a crop
(1) Ο μύλος - Mill: A variant of the windmill, which is
found on the islands, only here the central axis was
dragged by animals.

10. (2) The hand mill: Two well shaped stones,
one above the other, mounted on a
wooden driver used for milling of small
quantities of grain.

11. F. Other tools for general useF. Other tools for general use
(1) ΚΟΦΙΝΙ. The Kofini basket: Large, braided with thin
reeds or bamboo, for the placement and transported of
the plants.
(2) ΛΙΑΣΤΡΕΣ. The liastres: Wooden structures on the
clothesline for drying turban tobacco
