Presentation on Chinese calligraphy, given on 16 December 2010 for a high school by Jenny Lee, Chinese/ Taiwanese painting artist and gallery owner in The Hague (Netherlands).
The Art of Wu Guanzhong (Speaker: Vincent LEE Kwun-leung)VincentKwunLeungLee
Wu Guanzhong sought for an integration between French Romanticism and Chinese Literati Painting Tradition from both his oil and ink paintings. But, Mao Zedong and the Communist Party disliked his pro-European attempt of Sino-Western aesthetic innovations. Due to the trend of Cultural Revolution, Mao Zedong forced Wu Guanzhong to abandon what he learnt in Paris and re-adapt to the "Leninist School of Realistic Thought". But, Wu Guanzhong refused to do so. Fortunately, the colonial government of Hong Kong under British administration tried all its best to preserve Wu Guanzhong's pieces and ensure him with creative freedoms. Wu Guanzhong could thus explore a great variety of new styles while playing with his moisturized ink leisures, such as Post-Impressionism, Rococo, Abstract Expressionism, Feminism and Minimalism.
This is a very fundamental version of my research proposal for the admission interview of MAFA studies at CUHK Fine Arts. It was written right after attending Prof. Ho Siu-kee's admission talk in 2019, and there was no pandemic at that time. Now, the Kowloon Walled City Series is my graduation project. Looking back to my original idea before the admission, will there be some similarities between the research proposal and my current creative development?

“Train of Thought” by Leo Bridle
Simple Outline
“A Journey for Love”
I. Leo Bridle and Ben Thomas were the film makers.
a. I believe they are in their late 20s and early 30s, and they graduated from the Arts Institute at Bournemouth.
b. From the United Kingdom.
II. The basic structure of the artwork is Film.
a. Material used was digital compositing software and all the animations were done by hand and not the compositing software.
b. The subject of the seemed to be the young artist and he seemed to have been in search of someone. Everything seemed to be between and a gray/sepia scale with a design using cut outs and wooden toys.
III. I think this whole film was based on love.
a. My 1st idea is that he is trying to find the woman he loved. He may have seen her before at the station and drawn her out of memory and may have come back to find her there. When he didn’t, he hopped on the train in search for her only to come up empty. I believe he used his drawing pad as some sort of map as to where she may have been. When he doesn’t find her, he returns to the station once again and this time, he finds her. He then realizes that she may be an artist as well and may have gone through the same processes to find each other.
b. My 2nd idea is that he may have drawn her as well as the other drawings in his book subconsciously and realized this was a woman he had to meet. He then returns to the train station, which is the setting of his drawing. When she doesn’t come, he hops on the train and then goes in search for the woman that he loves. When he doesn’t find her he returns back to the station and that is where he finally sees her. They go towards each other and hold hands, seeming like they both went through the same measures to find each other.
I think the way the film makers used photography and film made this a very interesting form of media. Everything looked cartooned and real at the same time. The train station and the train themselves looked like they were made out of wooden toys and the people all looked like cut outs that were animated to look like they were moving, inside of their cut out frames. This was a well done film and they filmmakers did a wonderful job. I must say it sure caught my attention.

Introduction to the Drinking Maiden Exhibition
Story Style
"A Maiden in Born"
My color is milky white and thus a maiden is born... I was created by the great sculptural artist Ernst Wenck in 1901. He created my soft white body by using his strong meticulous hands. He is indeed an artist. I was created in a time when conservatism was not very popular. Because of my intricate detail and the delicate image I carry I became a model for porcelain miniatures.
If you study my structure you see the qualities that may have lead to my continued popularity. I lean forward and you see the muscle tone of my leg by the light tha ...

4. HAKKIMDA...
Gezmeyi ve çizmeyi seven meraklı bir
iç mimar.
Küçüklüğümden beri çizimler hep
ilgimi çekmiştir. Küçüklüğümde
babamın iş yerine yaptığım
ziyaretlerde ilk defa mimari projeyle
tanıştım. O zamanlar mimari projeler
benim için üst üste çizilmiş çizgilerdi
ve oldukça karışıklardı. Projelerin her
şeyi anlatan çizimler olduğunu ileriki
yaşlarımda öğrendim.
Küçükken hep bir şeyler karalamayı
severdim. Hatta bulduğum her yeri
karaladığım için başım birçok kez
derde girdi. Çöp adam giydirerek
başladığım çizim serüvenim, elimden
düşmeyen maceralara dönüştü.
İlerleyen yaşlarda müziğe merak
sarıp bağlama kursuna gittim. Hem
uzun hem de kısa sap bağlama
çalmayı öğrendim. Lise yıllarında
kısa süreliğine elime geçen bir
gitarla kendi kendime gitar çalmayı
öğrendim. Şimdi boş zamanlarımı
ukulelemle dolduruyorum.
Bağlama çalmayı öğrendiğim yıllarda
kültürümüze olan merakımın artması
ve ailemin de desteği ile T.C. Kültür
ve Turizm Bakanlığı’nın Gençlik
Halk Dansları ekibine katıldım. Orada
her yöremize ait dansları öğrendim.
Bu altyapı daha sonra modern dansa
olan ilgimi uyandırdı ve lise yıllarımda
modern dansla ilgilendim.
Bunların ötesinde en büyük tutkum
hep tiyaro olmuştu. Küçüklüğümde
seyirci olarak katıldığım bu yeni
dünyanın ileriki yıllarda içine girdim.
Sahnenin hem önünün hem de
arkasının tadına vardım ve amatör
oyunculuk yaptım.
Lise yıllarım bittiğinde işimin içinde
sanat olması gerektiğinin, tutkularımla
sanatı işin içine katabileceğim ve
hiç bitmeyen merakımla kendimi
geliştireceğim alanın iç mimarlık
olduğunu biliyordum. Üniversite
yıllarımda mesleğime aşık oldum.
Hem ilgi alanlarıma hem de mesleğime
katkıda bulunacağını düşündüğüm için
grafik tasarımı yan dal programına
başlayıp başarıyla bitirdim.
Meslek hayatımda geçmişe ve
kültürlere saygı duyup onları gözardı
etmeyen; yenilikleri ve teknolojiyi
takip eden; sentezleyen ve üreten bir
tasarımcı olarak ilerleyeceğim.

5. ABOUT ME...
A curious interior architect who loves
travelling and drawing.
Drawing, especially technical drawing,
is a big curiosity since I was a little
girl. My first meeting with these
type of drawing is in my father’s
workplace. Back then, technical
drawing was just overlapping lines
with very complicated language for
me. While I was growing up, I’ve
learnt that projects has a very detailed
language and not complicated at all.
I always love sketching things that
I saw and imagine. In fact, I got in
trouble several times because of
drawing everywhere I saw. My little
trip of clothing stickmans turned into
adventures which never drops from
my hand.
While growing up, music got into my
life and I’ve learnt “baglama” which is
a Turkish instrument. When I was in
high school, I had a guitar for a very
short time and I learnt how to play it
by myself. Nowadays, I play with my
ukulele every possible time.
During the time I’ve learnt “baglama”,
I got interested in with my culture
and I got into The States Folk Dancing
Group of Ministry of Culture and
Tourism with my family’s support.
I’ve learnt all type of dances which
belongs to different regions of my
country. Folk dancing set up a base
for my enthusiasm for modern dance
which I spent so many times with it
during my high school years.
Beyond these hobbies, my biggest
passion is always theatre. I got into this
magical world as an audience when I
was very little. I want my passion into
my whole life and I worked at both
sides of the stage as an amateur actress
and technical staff.
I’ve always known that I need art
in my career. I decided that interior
architecture and environmental design
is the place that I can work with my
passions, art and endless curiosity of
mine. During the universtiy education,
I fall in love with my profession.
I studied graphic design minor program
to enhance my knowledge and support
my profession. I finished the program
with love and success.
During my professional life, my aim is
to have respect and to give value to the
past and cultures; to follow innovations
and technologies; and most importantly
become an interior architect who is
producing and synthesizing. At the
same time I will always support my art
passionete side.

hang on a little tomato
Just hang on, hang on to the vine
Stay on, soon you'll be divine
If you start to cry, look up to the sky
Something's coming up ahead
To turn your tears to dew instead
And so I hold on to his advice
When change is hard and not so nice
You listen to your heart the whole night
through
Your sunny someday will come one day soon
to you
The sun has left and forgotten me
It's dark, I cannot see
Why does this rain pour down
I'm gonna drown
In a sea
Of deep confusion
Somebody told me, I don't know who
Whenever you are sad and blue
And you're feelin' all alone and left behind
Just take a look inside and you will find
You gotta hold on, hold on through the
night
Hang on, things will be all right
Even when it's dark
And not a bit of sparkling
Sing-song sunshine from above
Spreading rays of sunny love
taya tan
Taya-tan, taya-tan, taya-tan
my excitement
Taya-tan, taya-tan,taya-tan
The heart sings
When your chest is close to me
I play a song of love
Taya-tan, taya-tan, taya-tan
I'm guitar
Taya-tan, taya-tan, taya-tan
You play me(guitar)
Taya-tan, taya-tan,taya-tan
secret excitement
Taya-tan, taya-tan, taya-tan
The heart is trembling
When I close my eyes and have a dream
The string is trembling
Taya-tan, taya-tan, taya-tan
I'm guitar
Taya-tan, taya-tan, taya-tan
You play me
amado mio
It was just a phrase
That I heard in plays
I was acting a part
But now when I whisper
Amado mio
Can't you tell I care
By the feeling there
'Cause it comes from my heart
I want you ever
I love my darling
Wanting to hold you
And hold you tight
Amado mio
Love me forever
And let forever
Begin tonight
And let forever
Begin tonight
And let forever
Begin tonight
Amado mio
Love me forever
And let forever begin tonight
Amado mio
When we're together
I'm in a dream world

Many times I've whispered

I was acting a part
But now when I whisper

Can't you tell I care
By the feeling there
'Cause it comes from my heart

I love my darling
Wanting to hold you

Love me forever
And let forever
Begin tonight
Many times I've whispered
Amado mio
let’s never stop falling in love
I wish a falling star could fall forever
And sparkle through the clouds and stormy
weather
And in the darkness of the night
The star would shine a glimmering light
And hover above our love
Please hold me close and whisper that you
love me
And promise that your dreams are only of me
When you are near, everything's clear
Earth is a beautiful heaven
Always I hope that we follow the star
And be forever floating above
I know a falling star can't fall forever
But let's never stop falling in love
When you are near, everything's clear
Earth is a beautiful heaven
Always I hope that we shine like the star
And be forever floating above
I know a falling star can't fall forever
And let's never stop falling in love
No let's never stop falling in love
over the valley Over the valley
I saw a silver cloud
With a pink lining
I said it right out loud
There's no denying
You are my one and only love
And we'll see over the valley
The moon rise above
Over the valley
This house among the trees
Where we've been hiding
Making our memories
And I'm deciding
You are my one and only love
And we'll be over the valley
As the moon shines above
The autumn breezes carry all the bluebirds
Down to where the sun still shines
If we could hold this day
In our hearts some way
We would never roam
Ever far from home
Over the valley
Just above the fray
The sun is setting
And when we're old and grey
I'll still be betting
You are my one and only love
And over the valley
The moon shines above
The autumn breezes carry
all the bluebirds
Down to where the sun still shines
If we could hold this day
In our hearts some way
We would never roam
Ever far from home
Over the valley
Just above the fray
The sun is setting
And when we're old and grey
I'll still be betting
You are my one and only love
And we'll live over the valley
You'll always be with me
As the moon shines above
aspettami
Aspettami
Wait for me
I've been lost
Adrift at sea
In your dreams
Dream my way
Someday I'll find my heart
And come back to stay
Do you miss me
My darling
As I miss you
Take my hand
And pull me near
And never let me go again my dear
There was a time
I was safe in your arms
And the stars fell away like diamonds
Then we were young
And our love was younger still
Was it just an illusion
Aspettami
Wait for me
Close your eyes
And you will see
I'm coming home
Every sky in my heart will be blue
On the day I come back to you
I'm coming home
Every sky in my heart will be blue
On the day I come back to you
lilly Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!
Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!
One day she passed him by
A twinkle in her eye
He said " she was meant for me!"
But when he turned around
He lost what he had found
Oh where can his Lilly be?
Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!
He searched the city streets
He tempted her with treats
But nobody stopped to taste them
Some are in his pocket
Some are in a locket
He couldn't bring himself to waste
them
Ever since she's gone
Some days he can't go on
She runined for another
Pressed up against the glass
He prays that she will pass
Now he's living with his mother
Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!
Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!
Stay, stay, stay, stay

city of night
Well the sun’s going down
With its deep amber light
Embracing the town as we fall into night
To the silvery sound as the birds fly away
Getting ready for love
Getting out of the day
It is the city of night
It is the city if night
Leave the worries of day behind
And dream a new dream tonight
All the lands are a glow
All the lids painted red
And you wish you could take
That last thing you said
Well the night is a drum
Singing songs of delight
But when dawn comes along
Love is lost in the light
But in the city of night
Oh, in the city of night
Leave the troubles of day behind
And dream a new dream tonight
hey, eugine!
Hey Eugene do you remember me?
I'm that chick you danced with two times
through the Rufus album Friday night at that
party on avenue A:
where your skinhead friend passed out for
several hours on the bathroom floor and you
told me
You weren't that drunk, and that I was your
favourite Salsa dancer you had ever come
across in New York city

Eugene
I said hello Eugene
Are you there Eugene
Hey Eugene then we kissed once we lobbed
your friend into the elevator and went to write
my number on a soggy paper towel
And the car went down
And when we had finished making out we
noticed that your skinhead friend was gone.
Long gone
And you looked into my bloodshot eyes and
said is it too soon if I call you Sunday
