Insidious Flowers Attract the Greatest Beauty
John Steinbeck s East of Eden tells the story of the lives of many people, each chapter focusing on
a different person or group. The proponents of the novel trail along the characters and displays a
contrast between them. The characters struggle between evil and good not only with themselves,
but with each other. In his story, East of Eden, Steinbeck places Cathy s demonic and deceiving
personality together with Adam s pure hearted temperament to demonstrate contradictions in nature.
Steinbeck uses the calm, fresh setting of Salinas Valleyto create a distinctive atmosphere. The novel
follows the characters and their families in North America. The beginning of the novel consists of
an atmosphere in which both Adam Trask and Cathy Ames live in. They both live on the east
coast and explore its tenebrous tangibility. Adam lives a life of fear and pain in the east: first in the
gruesome and bloody war, and then with his brother Charles. While this is detrimental to Adam, the
gloominess and susceptibility of the east coast is perfect for Cathy. She learns that there she can
use ... manipulation [to] gain and keep power over anyone, (Steinbeck, 75). Eventually, Adam and
Cathy meet and Adam falls in love with her. Once Adam tells Cathy that he will take her to
California, she is wary and hesitant. Cathy makes it known to Adam that she, ... didn t want to [go
there], and that she will not stay in California (Steinbeck, 173). She quietly threatens him that, As

Literary Foils In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
In the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a wondrous tale of two men George a small,
slender man, and Lennie a big, tall man with a mental disability, who travel together and face
difficulties, happy times and fun with friends. This story by John Steinbeck has wowed many
people around the world and right here. after you read this story you ll for sure want all your
friends and families to know too.
John steinbeck uses these literary devices to create the story, and develop the theme of friendship
throughout the story
in Of Mice and Men by john steinbeck, literary foils are used to show the difference and
similarities between George and Lennie.
Literary foils are important they show the best and worst differences in people. But in this story
it gets a little hectic on how different George and lennie are. And mostly about how forgetful
lennie is. So you forgot that awready..(george said)....I forgot lennie said softly. i tried not to
forget. (steinbeck 4) This supports the literary foils because of how different George and Lennie
are and it also explains how different they are.this is important because it shows the struggles
each of them go through but them being able to have each other helps them get through those
situations. Also lennie gets attached to things so he loves his new pup that george got him, but
alittle to much. George put down his cards very deliberately. Lennie, he said sharply (steinbeck
42) This shows that even though george is a nice guy he can be defensive. when he was just
outside of the bunkhouse and saw lennie bring a puppy in he would ve beaten lennie up for it so
+the pup wouldn t die. This also relates to Lennie s death and how George had to kill him before
he actually got hurt, you hadda, George. i swear you hadda. (steinbeck 107) In the end this
shows that if george would have died lennie would have killed multiple people to get revenge vs.
george just killing the killer and slightly lying to save himself. All these make up a good part of
the book but most importantly irony takes a long stride to be the best and how it is used to form
the story of the book.
in Of Mice and Men by john steinbeck he uses irony to show how lennie says he isn t going to do

Martha Stewart Insider Trading Scandal
America s most famous homemaker, Martha Stewart, is one of the business mavens involved in
an insider trading scandal in the late 2001. Born in 1941 as Martha Kostyra, she developed a
passion for gardening, cooking, and housekeeping at an early age. Her mother taught her the
basics of baking, cooking, canning, and sewing while her father introduced her to gardening. She
married Andrew Stewart while attending Barnard College in New York City. Martha started her
career as a successful stockbroker on Wall Street. In order to satisfy her childhood passions, she
left the stockbroker business and opened a gourmet food shop that became a catering business in
Westport, Connecticut. She is the founder and former CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia,
Inc., engaged with television, publishing, electronic commerce, merchandising, and related
international partnerships. Stewart had an estimated net worth of $650 million prior to the insider
trading scandal. In the early 2000s, Stewart became the focus of headlines, speculation, and a
federal investigation concerning her stock trading. She was accused of insider trading after she
sold four thousand ImClone System s shares one day before the firm s stock price tumbled. The
firm s stock price plummeted as the Food and Drug Administration refused to review ImClone s
cancer drug Erbitux. Even though... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Robert Van Gulik
Through a thrilling murder mystery blended with action, romance, and suspense, Robert van Gulik
captures the fascinating culture of Tang China and its political and social life. Van Gulik s novel
incorporates diverse characters with varying roles in Tang society, allowing for a more expansive
view of the social expectations and perspectives of people of all social classes. ALTHOUGH THE
WILLOW PATTERN IS A FICTIONAL NOVEL PUBLISHED IN THE 20TH CENTURY, IT
INCORPORATES MANY PRACTICES AND HISTORICAL FACTORS FOUND IN TANG
CHINA, INCLUDING A LEGAL SYSTEM, A BLEND OF BUDDHISM, TAOISM, AND
CONFUCIANISM, AS WELL AS SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS OF PEASANT AND ELITE
WOMEN THAT MAKES THE NOVEL A PLAUSIBLE REPRESENTATION OF THE TANG

However, the popular beliefs of the Tang Dynasty that shaped the people s social expectations
and behavior as depicted in The Willow Pattern is arguably the most effective at making the
novel a viable representation of the time period. This factor is not only prevalent in the characters
actions, but it also has a prominent effect on the development of the novel s plot. Mrs. Mei, the
murderer of her husband Mr. Mei and the cause of the central conflict of the novel, reveals to have
committed this crime out of selfish desires during her trial under Judge Dee she explains that her
lust for power and an escape from the constraints of the patriarchal system, actions that go against
the ideal Confucian woman s expectation of obedience and reverence for her husband, was her
motive for her crime. Mrs. Mei, although sentenced by the court to death, dies of illness,
representing how her defiance from her social expectations results in her own downfall. On the
other hand, Bluewhite and Coral, although they also commit murder, are spared of punishment by
Judge Dee due to their endeavor of honoring their parents and protecting their family. The twins
exhibit the traits of ideal Confucian daughters, and in turn, are rewarded for upholding their social
duties.

Cannonball Jellyfish Research Paper
Stomolophus meleagris, also known as the cannonball jellyfish, can often and most frequently be
found off the shorelines of countries bordering the Pacific Ocean preferably in water temperatures
close to 74 degrees Fahrenheit. It is part of the kingdom Animalia and located in the phylum
Cnideria. The jellyfishgets its name because it possesses radial symmetry and because of its bell,
which can range up to seven inches in diameter. Colors of this jellyfish slightly vary between
clear and a gradual light to dark brown color. They have circular muscles on the underside of their
bell which contract and allow it to propel itself through the water, as well as keep it upright.
Cannonball jellyfish can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Sexual reproduction starts when
the male jellyfish spews its sperm into the water, which is received by the female jelly. Once
received, the egg and sperm begin to develop larvae and form motile planula (free swimming,
bilaterally symmetric larva). Once these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are covered in mucus which allows them to catch small prey such as plankton and other
small creatures floating around in the water. They can propel themselves forward to create a
current that forces prey within reach. Cannonball jelly have tentacles that are covered with
poisonous barbs called nematocysts. They have simple digestive systems that seem almost
incomplete. They do not possess organs such as the pancreas, liver, or intestines which could aid
them in their digestive process. They have one cavity called the coelenteron that acts as the
stomach and the intestines. Food is broken down inside the jellyfish s stomach by enzymes made
by cells located along the inner body cavity. The cells help receive and send nutrients around the
jellyfish s body. The jellies have only one opening into the digestive system which acts as both its
mouth and its

Leadership Styles From The Point Of View
Comparative Analysis
The articles under analysis explore leadership styles from the point of view of their relation to
gender (Merchant, 2012) and personality (Yahaya et al., 2011). Merchant (2012) provides a
valuable research, which is focused on gender as the major determinant of leadership styles in
individuals. Providing an analysis of literature, Merchant (2012) indicates that many studies
analyzing the intersection of gender and influence tactics have resulted in mixed finding (p. 24). It
proves the argument that gender stereotypes play a major role in attributing particular roles for
females and males on the basis of their biological sex and what is expected of them. Whereas
Merchant (2012) does not present a particular argument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I happened to work under both female and male leadership, and I should admit that the difference
between them is not evident everything depends on personality, and dissimilarities in influence
tactics are attributed to situational circumstances such as individual setting (Merchant, 2012, p. 26).
Personal Leadership Style
My leadership style is both Participative and Democratic, and it is influenced by the three variables
gender, personality, and age. Democratic Leader makes the final decision, only after receiving the
input and recommendations of all team members, (Goetsch, 2002). I focus on getting to the bottom
of the problem with working through it.
Effect of Gender
Though gender is a contradictory variable in affecting leadership styles, I should note that
gender does play an important role in the way I influence other people. In this aspect, I should
agree with Merchant (2012), who indicate, women value cooperation [...] and have a less clear
focus on where the boundaries of their friendships end and their individual identities begin (p.
18). As a female, I feel I have to work harder than a male doing the same job. Even though, I feel
that I have to work harder than a man, I also think that it s not always about your gender, but how
a person is a leader. Kanter, argues that males and females who occupy the same organizational role
theoretically differ very

The Ass went into his village and scared all of the people and animals because he looked like a
lion. The Ass thought it was fun and cool that he was terrifying the innocent people and did not
feel guilty at all. Lastly, the fable states that In his delight he lifted up his voice and brayed, but

Convection Current ( Chris Woodford 2014 )
Background Information
Figure 1: Convection Current (Chris Woodford 2014)
The first fully automatic electric kettle was released by Russell Hobbs in 1956. It boiled water in
the most efficient manner that had ever been seen previously. A coil of thick metal called a heating
element was located at the bottom of the kettle (Chris Woodford 2014). By plugging in the kettle
into an electrical outlet an electric current is able to flow into the heating element. As the element
has a certain resistance it converts the electrical energy into heat, heating the cold water surrounding
the element. The higher the temperature, the faster the atom is (Chris Woodford 2014). Therefore,
the faster atoms from the element collide with the slower atoms of ... Show more content on

Using this value it can be determined how my energy is required to raise the temperature of one
litre of water from 20В°C, to 100В°C, as done by a kettle(Hyper Physics 2014). The amount of
energy needed to boil the litre of water is; 4.2 Г— 1000 grams Г— 80 degrees = 336,000 joules,
therefore it takes 336 kJ to raise the temperature by 80В°C.
The main two materials that surround kettles are plastic and metals (Engineering Toolbox 2014).
Each material acts differently in terms of thermal conductivity, therefore altering how much heat
is released into the air surrounding the kettle (Engineering Toolbox 2014). The most common
plastic used is Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) as it is flame retardant, has a high heat
resistance, high impact resistance and has good chemical resistance (Professional Plastics 2014).
However, plastic is generally not as long lasting as metal as it is thin and is easier to break. On
the other hand, the most common metal used in the construction of kettles is stainless steel. It is
used because it retains a high strength at elevated temperatures, has a high tensile strength and is a
poor conductor of electricity, meaning users are not at risk of electrocution (eMachineShop 2014).
Stainless steel is also used as it generally lasts longer than plastic and because of its aesthetics. The
most critical difference between ABS and stainless steel is the level of thermal conductivity.
Stainless steel has a much higher level of

The invaluable works of our elder writers re driven into neglect by frantic novels, sickly and stupid

It was not until around 1960 that academics like Robert Hume rose to its defence. (Maybe its
renewed popularity was something to do with the very unique socio political situation in the 1960s
echoing a the unique situation of the late eighteenth century, the heyday of the genre.) Since then
there has been a deluge of commentary which has elevated the genre to a critical and scholarly
favourite.
It is often said that one of the unifying features of Romanticism is its intentional political relevance.
Much of the canonical Romantic literature is inspired or informed by socio political events. We
need only look at Blake s work or key poems by second generation Romantics like Shelley s Ode to
the West Wind or The Mask of Anarchy to verify this.
The same is true of Romantic Gothic which arose around that unique period in European history
posthumously defined by the French Revolution but significant for its trans European massive
cultural and social upheaval indicated in part by repeated rioting in Britain (Lowe, vii) and a
widespread clamour for various reforms. Victor Sage writes, English Gothick of the eighteenth
century is seen as a collective symptom of political pressure felt all over Europe.

Hardship In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton
The Outsiders was written by S.E. Hinton. The book was written in 1967. The Outsiders take
place during the 1960s. The book is about Ponyboy and his gang. They are greasers and going up
against the Socs from the west side. The theme of The Outsiders is hardships can happen to
anyone, no matter what kind of person they are. An example of a hardship is when Johnny dies.
Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold... The pillow seemed to sink a little, and Johnny died (Hinton 148).
This shows when Johnny died and Ponyboy was there with him. Ponyboy had become very close
to Johnny during their time up in the old church in Windrixville. Another example is when Dally
died. He was jerked half around by the impact of the bullet, then slowly crumpled with a look

Milkman And Hagar Essay
1.1.Milkman s lover Hagar
At the same time as Milkman has less air for breathing at home, he gets to know his cousin
Hagar and is introduced to her as a brother. Although Reba corrects her mother Pilate by saying,
That ain t her brother, Mama. They cousins , Pilate counters, I mean what s the difference in the
way you act toward em? Don t you have to act the same way to both? (Morrison 54). This first
encounter sets the basis of Hagar s and Milkman s relationship. Pilate makes clear that family is
family no matter the degree of kinship. Accordingly, Pilate tries to predetermine how Hagar should
regard her cousin and this conversely reveals the incestuous nature of Milkman and Hagar s coming
relationship. Notwithstanding, Morrison writes that From the first time he saw her, when he was

For the first years, Hagar does not pay much attention to Milkman and he perceived her as a
distant creature (113) while she views him as a puppy since she is the older of them (114). In the
course of time, their relationship changes and Milkman realizes that he no longer feels attracted to
her. From this moment forth, Hagar makes Milkman the center of her life by becoming the active
since Milkman no longer chases her (Qasim and Asmat 193). Apparently Milkman loses interest
when he seems to own her. Interestingly, this relationship is primarily depicted as a physical one.
This directly results in the fact that Milkman s interest is primarily of a sexual nature, but does not
truly love or value her. So it is not surprising that, instead of recognizing true love, he describes
Hagar as the third beer. Not the first one, which the throat receives with almost tearful gratitude; nor
the second, that confirms and extends the pleasure of the first. But the third, the one you drink

Alice In Wonderland Through The Looking Glass Analysis
Lewis Carroll: Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass Charles
Lutwidge Dodgson not only set a precedent for the genre of children s literature not yet common
in the victorian era but he also impacted modern absurdist literature by his creative writing. Alice
s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There, all
published under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, gained a large following by men, women, and
children because of their whimsical tales of adventure. Carrolls fascination with little girls
combined with having influence in the church allowed him to become friends with the reverend
s daughter Alice whom gave him the idea to create the story Alice s Adventures Underground.
Charles was the eldest son of Reverend Charles Dodgson, a clergyman in the Church of England,
and Francis Jane Lutwidge. She gave birth to her third child, Carles on the twenty seventh of
January in 1832 in the Parsonage of Daresbury England. He came from a large family,
numbering eleven children, and was often charged with the task of amusing his younger sisters
which may help explain how he developed his love of games and his devotion to little girls.
(Stanley 18) At the age of eleven Charles revealed his early genius for nonsense by editing and
writing for a series of family magazines called The Rectory Umbrella and Mismasch . Charles
began school at the Richmond Grammar School, where he spent a year and a half; this was
followed by three years at Rugby. He maintained very high academic standards throughout
school and college. In 1851 he entered Christ Church College of Oxford University, and in 1854
he received his undergraduate degree. At the Church of England he earned himself a lifetime
residency provided he became a clergyman. Dodgson lived and worked at Oxford University
teaching math until 1898. The world has come to know Charles Dodgson as Lewis Carroll, a
pseudonym he chose in 1856 for his fictional and poetical works. He reserved his family name for
his academic books and essays. By 1857, he had begun publishing both mathematical treatises and
essays on logic. Even these dry academic writings were marked by his quirky sense of humor,
whimsy, and fun. He wrote

Evolution Of The Modern Era Of Skateboarding
Prior to the days of Dogtown, skateboarding was dead. However, as soon as the Dogtown culture
came alive, so did the modern era of skateboarding. As a result of surfing, the California drought
of the 1970s, and the film work and photography of Craig Stecyk, this once dead sport has risen
from the dead for good. It all began in the early 1970s when Dogtown, located in Venice Beach,
California was home to a secret surfingcove. This area was constantly populated by pyromaniacs,
drug addicts, artists, and of course surfers , but most importantly the Zephyr surf team. This team
was known as The mafia of the waves (Peralta, 2002). While surfing on the coast, this team
relentlessly practiced new and unique moves on the beachfront. Little did they... Show more content

Each one helped to expand growth for the extreme sport already growing in popularity.
First off, the accident of architecture was inevitable. As years went on, the minds and creativity of
skaters was bound to evolve. The boys from Dogtown did just that. With reference to my second
point, these skaters took advantage of Mother Nature. When the California drought of the 1970s
occurred, they made use of the architecture that was not being used. Seaside pools became more
than just an empty unusable piece of land built underground, but a bowl for skaters to develop their
innovation for the future of the sport (Hayes, 2005).
The availability of television time also had an impact on the rise of skate. While the status of
skateboarding was taking off, so was television and sport. The 1980s marked the introduction of
innumerable network options (Cable s Story, 2015). Not long after in the mid 1990s, the X Games
kicked off and included skateboarding as one of its activities. From that point on the skateboarding
market continued to flourish as more and more television shows came out about skating, along
with the creation of video game such as Tony Hawk s Pro

Summary Of The Hound Of The Baskervilles
Summary:
On December 26th, 2015, my mother and I went to go see the show, Baskerville, by Ken
Ludwig, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre in Philadelphia. The play was a different and clever
take on the mystery novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The play
the book tell the story about an attempted murder of a man called Sir Henry Baskerville, who has
just inherited his uncle, Sir Charles Baskerville s estate. There is some suspicion surrounding Sir
Charles death. It is said that he died of a heart attack, but his friend who found him dead, Dr.
James Mortimer, noticed an expression of fear on his face and the prints of gigantic hound nearby.
So the doctor brings the case to Mr. Holmes and it begins.
The venue of the show was the Suzanne Roberts Theatre in Philadelphia. It was a very sleek and
modern looking place. It was smaller than I imagined outside and inside of the theatre. The stage
was a perfect square black box type stage, completely surrounded by lights. The show was done by
the Philadelphia Theatre Company, and the show was written by American playwright Ken
Ludwig. The contemporary drama show premiered at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC on
January 16th, 2015.
Ludwig s interpretation of the story was very clever and funny. It was close to being farcical, but
the actual premise of the show kept it from reaching that point. There were two things that made
the play stand out. When I looked at the cast list before I went to see the show I

Arguments For and Against Testing Children s Genetics Essay
The diseases that exist in our world are enough to make medicine and testing the only option of
hope in times of need. People grow up happy and healthy, only to be diagnosed, in their middle
age, with an adult onset disease. These diseases only become a burden as the victim gets older.
Some commonly known ones are Alzheimer s or Huntington s disease. There is no cure or treatment
for adult onset diseases like this. Knowing that the victims have these diseases written in their DNA
from the moment they were born leads to an interesting argument. Several communities argue about
whether parents or guardians should have the right to test their children for these diseases. There
are many arguments, however, that stem from the social and ethical... Show more content on

Its up to the doctor and parents of that child to decide whether the risk of choosing for the child
is worth it or not. It is clear that there has been proof that this big decision can be ethical and
unethical, leading to only more controversy. Also, testing children for a disease that won t
develop for years can be socially harmful for them. First of all, children will often have difficulty
understanding and responding to the stresses of serious disease and death can lead to behavioral
problems (Klitzman). In several ways, it is better for the kid to learn about this when he or she
is old enough to understand. Finding out too soon can cause more issues than the knowledge is
worth. Growing up with that kind of depression can lead to needing an escape such as drug
abuse or drinking underage. Just having knowledge of carrying a disease can lead to
problematic situations while meeting new people. There have been cases where carriers of the
gene for sickle cell anemia have been denied employment as if they suffered from the disease (
Testing Children for Genetic Status ). Other people will treat the child differently through their
entire life because of simply knowing about it. Finally, testing for diseases too soon may lead to
unreasonably discourage patients from pursuing a particular life plan ( Testing Children for
Genetic Status ). Goals of going to college, getting married, and getting a job may

Differences Between Union And Confederate Motives Within...
Differences between Union and Confederate Motives within the Civil War The Civil War was a
time of major upheaval within America. Major issues such as slavery divided the states and threw
the nation in all different directions. As Abraham Lincoln was elected into the presidency in 1860,
South Carolina along with 10 other southern states began seceding from the union. Their reasoning
for secession included those of protecting the institution of slavery and state s rights. These affairs,
then led to the commencement of the Civil War, and soldiers of the Union and Confederate
regions began enlisting. Union and Confederates enlisted into the war for similar sounding
motives, however a deeper insight is needed to understand the basis of the war and that each side
had contradicting feelings and emotions behind every motive. At the beginning of the war, Initial
incentives for the soldier s included adventure, love, excitement, honor and duty. These motives
were enthusiastically recounted by both Union as well as Confederate sides of the war. However,
their feelings behind them varied greatly between the opposing states. The union was mostly
associated with serving their country as a service they felt was their duty to their country, not to
themselves or to their home life. Commander Charles Steedman, who confessed his support of the
union expresses this passion I am as I have always been, a Union man I know no North or

Narrative Writing Assignments Of Pretentious Middle School...
Hyperextended crabs. Pinwheel of death. Broken winged pterodactyl. Such terminology seems
befitting of comparisons found in the interpretive writing assignments of pretentious middle school
students in an introductory art class. At the very least, they certainly do not invoke the feelings
associated with rational conceptions of what they describe in reality: districts across ordinary towns
in the United States. More sensibly, one could delegate responsibility for these frighteningly
amorphous and visually unappealing figures to the contrived workings of legislatures, yet a certain
degree of accountability ought to be attributed to the currently flawed legal precedent for handling
the intricacies of one of America s most virulent issues. Furthermore, the issue runs much deeper
than the superficial concerns from, they are physically discernable warning signs of a startling
trend that regrettably stifles political discourse and obscures the legitimate appeals of constituents:
the prevalence of district gerrymandering.
Every decade, as per the Supreme Court s ruling in Reynolds v. Sims, U.S. Congressional districts
reevaluate the status quo situation of political district in regards to population, and redraw their
individual localities accordingly. In its intended form, this process bolsters the election process
through taking into consideration different migratory patterns that would perhaps misrepresent the
geographical reality, ensuring that one man s vote in a congressional

Authority In The Muslim World
The topic of religious authority in the Muslim world has been a debate since the beginning of early
Islam. The debate of authority was centralized over who was able to elucidate the meaning of the
texts of revelation. Over time, the superiority of who had the right to interpret the religious texts
and guide the community changed from the pre modern to the modern period.
The fuqaha were elite religious scholars, or members of a wealthy family, that rose to power in
700 (Lecture, October 19). The fuqaha understood collective responsibility by the use of Fard al
kifayah, which represents a ritual obligation a Muslim community can fulfill for the whole
(Lecture, October 24). They presumed the masses, such as the peasants, would be unable to follow

Warith Deen Muhammad is a neo traditional social reformer that based his views of how to
create a just Muslim society on different schools to create an American school of Islamic

emphasizes the ability of anybody to read the Qur an and Hadith and decide what they are

The Perception Of Jean De Coras In The Film
Additionally, there is an absence of internal thought from Jean de Coras in the film. His decision
to refrain from charging Bertrande, despite previous cases which suggested that she should be, is
a pertinent part of the story and yet there is no mention of the struggle he faced in his head. At
the end of the film, the narrator simply states, The Counselor, Jean de Coras, impressed by this
daring imposture, made a record of it. Twelve years later came the St. Bartholomew Massacre. For
his Protestant beliefs, Jean de Coras was hung before the Toulouse Parliament with a hundred of his
friends (2:00:20). Because the Protestant belief is more relaxed on crimes committed by Bertrande

Coras, in his account of the trial, proclaims that Bertrande was easily duped because of the

daughter, his reasoning he gives for letting Bertrande walk is rather unconvincing; his use of
gender stereotypes is merely a ploy to disguise his religious beliefs and his acceptance that women
such as Bertrande were intuitive, despite the attempts of men to make them seem inferior. Without

Wasted Food Essay
Every year, billions of pounds of food are wasted throughout the world. It is important to realize
that this is an enormous problem. This is a problem by cause of countless people could have
prevented it by just starting their meal with less food. Misunderstanding the consequences of food
waste, people don t even understand how much food they wastethroughout their lives. Food that
we throw out results in so abounding problems and wastes of needed resources. Wasted food is a
strong loss as a result of wasted water, money and food for others in need. Moreover, food is a
considerable loss considering it results in wasted water. In the article titled, When You Waste Food,
You re Wasting
Tons Of Water, Too , it says, According to the World Resources Institute, an
environmental think tank, inside the 1.3 billion tons of food wasted every year worldwide is 45
trillion gallons of water. Another article titled, Wasted Food=Wasted Water it tells us, When you
crunch the numbers, about 25 percent of all freshwater consumed annually in the US is associated
with discarded food. Having trouble visualizing how much water that is? Well, on a global scale,
by one clever comparison, it s a little more than the volume of Lake Erie. This information tells us
that when people throw out the extra food on our plate that you couldn t finish, overall, people are
wasting so much water. Everyone wastes so much water through not taking smaller portions of food

Training Day Analysis
Training Day is a LAPD movie, but the plot makes it stand out. It s a story of a rookie cop who
has his mind set on a goal. Alonzo, (Denzel Washington), a veteran cop who can get him there.
The movie follows the cop duo, which feels like End of Watch, and both movies have the same
writer. Training Day is action packed, and makes you think because it sends a message to the
audience and the character. I like this movie too because it asks the audience what s right and
what s wrong. I would also like to mention that everyone is crooked, yet Jake (the rookie cop)is
honest. Alonzo stole money from a drug dealer to bribe a crooked judge to get a warrant to break
into a richer drug dealer house and to steal his money, so he can bribe russians to... Show more

It made really made me think if what the characters are doing morally wrong. Both cops handle
justice a different way and no one taught Jake that the world is cruel, and twisted. This
eventually causes the climactic intense ending, and will keep your eyes glued to the screen.
Although I enjoy this movie there is somethings that could be better. For instance the movie has
a slow start. I m not going to lie, I did skip a bit to the ride along, for it was boring. I also would
make a scene more believable, but I digress because if it was the movie wouldn t be able to
continue. Overall this movie contained major keys to make it interesting. I love rated R movies
because they are actually interesting and keep me in the edge of my seat. If this movie wasn t
as blunt as it is I probably wouldn t like it. Usually I would recommend R movies to 10 and up,
but I saw it before when I was younger. I had no idea what was going on, and I didn t understand
the message it was sending. So I would probably recommend it to 14 and up, for some children
won t see the message. MPAA rated Training Day rated R, for it s brutal violence, pervasive
language, drug content, and brief nudity. Overall this is a entertaining movie that doesn t
disappoint. 9/11 would watch

Burials are one of the main sources of knowledge...
Burials are one of the main sources of knowledge concerning the Early Bronze Age. The most
common practice during this time was placing several generations of one family in the same
cave or tomb with a variety of offerings, such as pottery vessels, jewelry, and metal objects. In
most cases, skeletal remains were found disarticulated with the skulls separated from the bodies.
For example, at Tell Asawir bones were packed in pottery jars; at Azor there is some evidence of
cremation; and at Jericho the skulls were separated and arranged in rows (Mazar 1990). Shaft
tombs were found at some sites, such as the vast cemeteryat Bab edhDhra , where the Early Bronze
Age I phase includes several thousand shaft tombs. As no settlement was... Show more content on

At other sites, such as Megiddo, the shafts are elaborate and square, and they lead into a cave with
several rectangular rooms (Mazar 1990). They generally contained one or more disarticulated
individuals. The grave goods usually included only some pottery vessels and sometimes a number
of copper weapons (e.g. a dagger and/or a spear); beads were found with female remains.
The use of caves for multiple burials became popular again in the Middle Bronze Age IIB C after
a long gap. This method suited an urban society in which families wished to bury their dead in the
same place over several generations. Dozens of rich burial caves from this period at Jericho are
good examples of the custom. The bodies were laid on a wooden bed in the center of the cave. A
similar practice from a possibly earlier date is evident at the cemetery of Baghuz near Mari
(Mazar 1990). At Jericho, older burials were pushed to the sides to allow room for the new ones
on the bed or near it. Dozens of individuals were found in the same cave, together with a rich
collection of burial gifts, including pottery vessels (some with food remains), wooden containers,
weapons, tools, jewelry, and seals. A particular feature of the Jericho tombs is the preservation of
organic material, namely wooden furniture (Mazar 1990). Variations between cemeteries in close
proximity may indicate either a chronological sequence or the possibility that related tribal

166). Even though such studies might be compelling, these findings need further research to
fully understand the effects of consumption. When the effects of consuming organic foods are
examined, a different outcome is discovered. According to Huber, Rembialkowska, Srednicka,
Vijver (2011), a large scale study named PARSIFAL concluded: children which consumed
organic foods (regularly) showed lower allergenic rates as well as lower body weights when
compared to traditional or engineered foods (Huber, Rembialkowska, Srednicka, Vijver 2011).
With further research, other positive results are discovered. Specifically, a study produced by
Princeton reviled that consuming organic foods lowered risks from chemical contamination,
supplemental hormones, and antibiotic risks ( Greening Princeton , n.d.). In contrast to GMOs,
consuming organic foods were directly linked to positive results, which helps solidify the
argument that they are a safer and healthier option over engineered foods. This conclusion also
aids in the point of discussion (which will be reviewed below) that stricter FDA guidelines need
to be emplaced to protect American citizens from unknowingly consuming GMO products; which
could have possibly dangerous, unknown long term side effects. The FDA s current labeling
policy should be stricter in its guidance on the labeling of foods; unequivocally, GMOs. First, we
will examine the FDA s current labeling policy in regards to GMOs in plant derived

Rumen Gases
Of all ruminant animal types, (cattle, goats, and sheep), beef and dairy cattle are by far the largest
emitters of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. As part of their digestive process, cows produce
methane. An average cow in North America, which includes beef cows, bulls, calves, growing
steers/heifers, and feedlot cattle, eructs via belching 117 pounds (53 kilograms) of methane (CH4)
per head per year, according to 2006 guidelines from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change.
The ruminant animal is unique because of its four stomach compartments: reticulum, rumen,
omasum and abomasum. The function of the rumen as a fermentation vat and the presence of
certain bacteria promote the development of gases. These gases are found in the upper part of the
rumen with CO2 and CH4 making up the largest portion (Table 1).
The proportion of these gases is dependent on rumen ecology and fermentation balance. Typically,
the proportion of carbon dioxide is two to three times that of CH4, although a large quantity of
CO2 is reduced to CH4. The eructation of gases via belching is important in bloat prevention but is
also the way CH4 is emitted into the atmosphere. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC), methane is more than 20 times as effective as CO2 at trapping heat in the
atmosphere/ global warming potential. The U.S.

Quantum Mechanics and Islam Essay
Introduction
Quantum mechanics or also known as quantum physics is a field of science which studies the
behaviour of particles at sub atomic level. This theory tells us that short lived pairs of particles and
their antiparticles are constantly being created and destroyed in an apparently empty space.
In quantum mechanics the weird behaviour of electrons are not accurately explained and until now
not a single theory is acceptable by the whole scientific community to postulate the phenomena. The
electrons become linked, or entangled, such that changing one invariably affects the other, no
matter how far apart they are; something Einstein called spooky action at a distance . Quantum
stuff can also exist in several places at once, or spin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The inadequacy and weaknesses of modern science is thus manifested as a result of its ignorance
on other sources of scientific knowledge such as metaphysical and spiritual knowledge which is
proven successful by previous Muslim scientists during the period of medieval Islam.
In Islamic science, cosmology plays an important role as a link between pure metaphysics and the
particular sciences and acts as a source of conceptual framework for the unity of science and
spiritual knowledge. There are a number of cosmological principles in Islamic science which are
formulated based on the relevant Qur anic verses, prophetic traditions and intuitive knowledge of
famous traditional Muslim scholars. In this study, the principles and ideas of quantum mechanics
are presented in a simplified manner for easy understanding of the subject matter, followed by the
application of the principles in Islamic science wherein the relevant issues are discussed
accordingly.
A Brief History of Quantum Mechanics
Quantum theory began to take shape in the early 20th century, when classical ideas failed to
explain some observations. Previous theories allowed atoms to vibrate at any frequency, leading to
incorrect predictions that they could radiate infinite amounts of energy; a problem known as the
ultraviolet catastrophe. Max Planck in 1900 solved this problem by assuming the vibrations of
atoms at specific or

Consumer Rights And Consumer Strengths
CONSUMER RIGHTS AND CONSUMER MYTHS A CRITICAL STUDY
ABSTRACT
Consumer right is the right to have information or the right to know about the potency, quality,
quantity, price, purity and standard of goods and services. The consumers should be protected from
unfair trade practices. It is very important and mandatory for the consumers to know their rights. If
they know their rights properly then they can be saved from exploitation from the shop keepers. To
safeguard the consumers and their rights the Consumer Protection Act of 1986 has been introduced.
It ensures correct information to the consumers and fair competition in the market. But on the
other side consumers are also exploited. Many people are cheated by low quality or duplicate
products but people do not claim for it. Nowadays we are not able to find the duplicate and original
products. There are many consumer rights but there are some facts and myths too. Most of the
people are not aware of their consumer rights and who to complain once any of the rights are
infringed. Though consumer rights are provided with each and every consumer should be aware of
the products which they buy. On the one side consumers are protected by their rights on the other
side consumers are being cheated by attractive advertisements, guarantees, warranty etc.

Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti Research Paper
Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti was an Italian composer who was born in Naples. In 1733, he
moved to Madrid, where he spent the remaining time of his life there and served Queen Maria
Barbara. He composed his 555 well known keyboard sonatas for the queen during this period of
time. These pieces were mostly written to be played on the harpsichord or the early pianofortes.
Although most of the sonatas were composed in pairs, the D major sonatas, often performed
together, formed a rare triptych of three sonatas. Sonata in D Major, K.491 is the second piece of
the triptych, which was composed in 1756 1757. Similar to most of his other sonatas, Sonata in D
major is in the binary form (AB AB). The structure in dance movements of the Baroque period is

In the novel, Getting to Yes, Roger Fisher and William Ury articulate that [A]ny method of
negotiation may be fairly judged by three criteria: It should produce a wise agreement if agreement
is possible. It should be efficient. And it should improve or at least not damage the relationship
between the parties. 1 In academia the concept that Fisher and Ury describe is known as integrative
negotiation a win win process, based on pursuing interests, that focus upon an ongoing relationship
between negotiating parties. 2 Although this concept appears simplistic, its efficient outcome is
rarely achieved. Far too often negotiators fall quarry to distributing resources, instead of using
creativity to expand the pie . However, the ability to negotiate, like any skill, can be improved. Over
the course of six business negotiation simulations, students, Katelyn Burke and Emilie

discover the key fallacies associated with negotiation and, more importantly, how different factors
can affect bargaining. By implementing scientific research and applying formal knowledge the
students aimed to reflect on each business simulation starting with Biopharm Seltek and concluding
with Mexico Venture. Negotiation 1: The Biopharm Seltek Negotiation is the interpersonal decision

that Jack London introduces as the main character is simple minded. He enjoys traveling and
wandering but he doesn t pay attention to how cold the temperature in the Yukon River territory has
gotten. The story talks about the man spitting into the air and the spit crackling because the
temperature has gotten so far beneath zero degrees this imagery shows the man s simplicity. The
character does not pay attention he doesn t think critically about his surroundings but seems to

Mannequin Head Research Paper
It is amazing that mannequin heads put on the hats, wigs, sunglasses, jewelry and make up
everybody needs, yet many merchants still do not understand their importance. They can be
made to be similar to many people types and are almost always built completely to scale. Made
from foam, plastic, and vinyl, mannequin heads are most frequently used to model hats. Rather
than waste the funds and space to display hats with full size mannequins, mannequin heads are
clearly more ingenious and they can be grouped jointly to display more than a few hats on a small
table space. Any sort of mannequin head will do this job better than a full size mannequin. If a
vendor would really similar to show shoppers a lifelike display, they can even order mannequin

The Objective Measurement Of Alpha Amylase
The objective measurement of alpha amylase activity is used every day to ensure the quality of
our staple foods. Alpha amylase is taken into account well before baking our foods and milling
the grains. We will be reviewing what alpha amylase is, how it is measured and what effects it has
in the industry all the way from the farm, to your fork. Alpha amylase is a protein enzyme present
in grains that have starch. It is also present in humans, most commonly in saliva (Murray). The
main purpose for alpha amylase is to break down, or hydrolase, polysaccharides, such as starch
(Murray). When alpha amylase breaks down starch and glycogen, they cause a chemical reaction
that creates the sugars maltose and glucose. Alpha amylose is also... Show more content on

The breakdown of starches into sugars gives the plant a food source to help it grow. In the 1970
s, Australian wheat farmers were suffering because their wheat crop was being bought at a
reduced rate due to high alpha amylase activity (Csiro). This was caused by LMA, or late
maturity alpha amylase. LMA is a genetic defect that causes high alpha amylase activity before
harvest (Csiro). This meant that the wheat could not be stored as long and had poor milling
qualities. As a result, in 1980, Australians recognized late maturity alpha amylase as a genetic
defect in their wheat, along with pre harvest sprouting, or PHS (Csiro). Late maturity alpha
amylase is caused only by genetics, where pre harvest sprouting can be caused by growing
conditions, such as heavy rainfall. Today in Australia, wheat breeders have to test through two
cycles of wheat before they pick what wheat lines they will breed and release to the farmers
(Csiro). Even though they screen their wheat for LMA and PHS, wheat can still be susceptible to
high alpha amylase activity, which will then become the millers responsibility. In the flour mill, if
incoming wheat has high alpha amylase activity the miller must blend the wheat with wheat that
has low alpha amylase activity, in order to create a blend with the proper amount of amylase
activity. If the incoming wheat has too high amylase activity, the wheat will be rejected and the
farmer will receive an even more income reductions. Millers

The first year they spent there, they tried to learn as much of the Japanese language as possible

people, when the converts attracted the attention of the bonzes who did not like St. Francis

city to city until he reached the capital city, Meaco. When St. Francis Xavier was inside the

rending the country. St. Francis Xavier retraced his steps back to the center of Japan and started
preaching there again and starting up Christian communities which increased rapidly. After

Philip J. Cooper v. Charles Austin 837 S. W. 2d 606 (Tenn. Ct. App. 1992)
Parties:
* Phillip J. Cooper, Plaintiff Appellant, Administrator * Charles Austin, Defendant Appellant *
Alois B. Greer, Proponent of the codicil
Facts:
* This is a will contest case involving a codicil to the Last Will and Testament of Wheelock A.
Bisson, M.D., deceased. * Dr. Bisson s will, which is not contested, was executed June 18, 1982.
Prior Proceedings: * Dr. Bisson died in 1985, and shortly thereafter Greer filed a petition in
probate court to admit the June 18, 1982, will and two codicils thereto dated August 20, 1984, and
August 6, 1985, respectively, to probate as and for the Last Will and Testament of Wheelock...

Greer, had not met her burden of proof pursuant to T.C.A. В§ 32 1 104, regarding the manner in
which a will must be executed. * The trial court granted Austin s motion and directed a verdict on
the grounds that Ms. Greer had not proved the proper execution of the codicil. * Accordingly,
judgment was entered declaring that the last will and testament of Wheelock A. Bisson dated June
18, 1982, be admitted to probate without any codicils.
Issue:
1. The first issue is whether the trial court erred in denying Greer s motion for summary judgment
on the grounds that Mr. Austin s will contest was barred by T.C.A. В§ 32 4 108 (Supp. 1991). 2.
The second issue for review is whether the trial court erred in directing a verdict for the contestant
Austin by refusing to allow the 1984 codicil to be submitted to the jury.
Holding:
The rule for determining a motion for directed verdict requires the trial judge and the reviewing
court on appeal to look to all of the evidence, taking the strongest legitimate view of it in favor of
the opponent of the motion and allowing all reasonable inferences from it in his favor. The court
must discard all countervailing evidence, and if there is then any dispute as to any material
determinative evidence or any doubt as to the conclusion to be drawn from the whole evidence, the
motion must be denied. Tennessee Farmers Mut.

Difference Between Thanks And Apologies
For a long time, the good behaviors have become a standard in appreciating the human personality.
Thanks and apologies are one of the manifestations of a culture, politeness in social relations.
When thanks and apologies are showed honestly, on one hand reflects the qualities of the
individual. On the other hand they can help people understand each other more easily. In many
cases, thanks or apologies not only bring joy to recipients, but also clear away the problems,
troubles, so that people live more altruistic.
Thanks, someone helped us do something; even it s too small, that words make pleasant
conversation. Some Government official finds it difficult to express gratitude. I have a story about a

Some people apologize and correct a mistake; other people don t. Saying thanks or sorry is a matter
of awareness, showing civilized behavior. Saying thanks and apologies expresses the best qualities
and education level of the person.
But nowadays, thanks and apologies tend to decrease in social communication. In a lot of cases,
some people ask for directions but forgot to thank. Many of you think it s their jobs, but you forget
that they help you, it is necessary for you.
Many people argue that the cause of this situation is since the standards of behavior are not tight
or industrial lifestyle makes us changes ... But still one more reason, it is a habit. Often only
children sorry or thanks parents. And younger people sorry and thanks older people, but many
older people do not pay attention to do that. In social interaction, especially in public, the adults
older people rarely say sorry or thank. Whether they were helped or their behavior annoying to
others. The children don t hesitate to say sorry or thank, but the habit seems to be lost with the
adults. The children say thank you and apologize not only through the lessons in class, teachings of
parents, but also to learn directly through the example of the

Importance And Importance Of Team Building
Introduction
Team Building is essential to make the organization a better place to work. When we hear the term
Team Building we are drawn to the term team and then what can be done to help them grow and
improve. It inspires groups of employees to communicate through a series of planned events that
are motivational as well as fun. These events can be used to determine strong points in the person s
personality, such as leadership skills, problem solving skills, etc. This can benefit the person by
giving them job satisfaction and the opportunity to progress to their full potential. Team building is
truly important as it also benefits the team as a whole. When employees of any company who
rarely work together are allowed to communicate, they can discover that they enjoy the interaction
and continue to bond with different people (from distinct fields) back at the office. Those
employees who previously may not have been getting along with others will have to forget ... Show

Team building programs create a healthier environment and a more motivated, well organized and
proficient team. Effective team building means more engaged and active employees, which is
good for company values and boosting the bottom line. The most successful team building
activities are ones that don t feel like a day at the office. Activities or exercises that overtly aim to
draw in leadership lessons or practical takeaways are less entertaining or powerful. Well, the
innovative method is to plan all those activities that bring the co workers together, resulting into
sharing an experience or working towards the same goal. It allows bonding more organically and
far more effectively. These wonderful experiences brought everyone closer together and in the end
employee learned that there s no better way to understand someone than to walk a mile

It was the cause of death to nearly 11 million people, and six million consisted of Jews. The
Franks took all the precautionary measures possible to keep themselves, but they could only do so
much to defer the inevitability. The first major precaution was going into hiding. The Franks would
hide in an apartment along with another family for two years. The United States Holocaust
Memorial Museum states, During the first half of July, Anne and her family went into hiding in an
apartment which would eventually hide four Dutch Jews as well Hermann, Auguste, and Peter van
Pels, and Fritz Pfeffer (ushmm.org). In July of 1942 the Franks went into hiding. They were
unaware that they would spend two years in the secret hiding place. Biography.com writes, The
families spent two years in hiding, never once stepping outside the dark, damp, sequestered portion
of the building (biography.com). The amount of annoyance of not leaving the same place in two
years would be immense. On August 4th, 1944 the Franks and everyone with them were
discovered and arrested. Annefrank.org states, The people in hiding are caught completely off

The Impact of Recording Technology on Music Essay
The Impact of Recording Technology on Music
Most successful musicians know a hidden art carried out by the work of a good sound engineer;
it is essential for a magnificent album. For the rest of us novice listeners and fans, we believe
what we hear through our speakers or played over the radio are the true skilled professional
musicians, soaring at their craft. Most contemporary music, from pop to R B and acid jazz to the
sophisticated realm of orchestral film scores, has been modernized by several inventions encased
within the studio. The art of audio engineering has taken on new forms, from the nuts and bolts,
plug it in, and see if it works era into the digital world, because of these wonderfully tragic solutions

This eliminated the need for highly skilled professional musicians to back up tunes in the studio.
Musicians are expensive as is studio time, so methods were created to save cost while producing
the most equivalent replica of the missing instrumentalists. In addition to cost, another factor that
computers introduced was a faster pace of life. Faster forms of media birthed the creation of T. V.
networks such as MTV and VH1 to carry popular music at an incredible rate to viewers. A
majority of pop music artists in the last decade have one thing in common: their fame rose and
declined faster than high school relationships. Faster life means a demand to have better quality
music, with low cost, with people who were not focusing on music as an art, but as a way to get
thousands of teen females screaming their name. Musicians have to export larger quantities of
music which is current and within the boundaries of trends. The perfect solution came around the
late 1970s in a format known as MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface). In a simple
explanation, a MIDI file is a blueprint, which is sent to a reading machine. This machine has
various spectrum data programmed corresponding to different instruments. The rather small MIDI
file is then read, and interpreted to match the desired synthesized sound. The quality of the sound
produced depends on the

The Network Marking Industry Is Successful
This is not your typical story of success. No, I am not going to give you some mumbo jumbo
about how everyone in the network marking industry is successful. However, I will tell you that,
anyone in network marketing can be successful. Not everyone who has attempted to succeed in
network marketing has done so. Do you know why? Not everyone has the drive, determination,
patience and confidence that it takes to make it in network marketing. I will tell you first and
foremost, most companies will ask you to make a list of all of your friends and family, and try
to promote your product to them first. This can give you the opportunity to test your sales skills.
However, not all of your friends and family will not see the value in what you have to offer.
Why? It is not because you do not have the skills to market your products and services to them. It
is because the majority of your friends and family tend to always assume the worst about new
business ventures; especially network marketing. Maybe they have tried it themselves and failed
miserably. Instead of just admitting that they did not have the above mentioned skills ( drive,
determination, patience and confidence) to survive in network marketing themselves, they would
rather discourage you instead. Stay Positive I am not trying to tell you that, talking to your friends
and family is a terrible idea. I am only stating the obvious. If you have already tried this approach
than you know what I mean. I am saying,

  • 2. Insidious Flowers Attract the Greatest Beauty John Steinbeck s East of Eden tells the story of the lives of many people, each chapter focusing on a different person or group. The proponents of the novel trail along the characters and displays a contrast between them. The characters struggle between evil and good not only with themselves, but with each other. In his story, East of Eden, Steinbeck places Cathy s demonic and deceiving personality together with Adam s pure hearted temperament to demonstrate contradictions in nature. Steinbeck uses the calm, fresh setting of Salinas Valleyto create a distinctive atmosphere. The novel follows the characters and their families in North America. The beginning of the novel consists of an atmosphere in which both Adam Trask and Cathy Ames live in. They both live on the east coast and explore its tenebrous tangibility. Adam lives a life of fear and pain in the east: first in the gruesome and bloody war, and then with his brother Charles. While this is detrimental to Adam, the gloominess and susceptibility of the east coast is perfect for Cathy. She learns that there she can use ... manipulation [to] gain and keep power over anyone, (Steinbeck, 75). Eventually, Adam and Cathy meet and Adam falls in love with her. Once Adam tells Cathy that he will take her to California, she is wary and hesitant. Cathy makes it known to Adam that she, ... didn t want to [go there], and that she will not stay in California (Steinbeck, 173). She quietly threatens him that, As soon ... • 3. Literary Foils In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men In the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a wondrous tale of two men George a small, slender man, and Lennie a big, tall man with a mental disability, who travel together and face difficulties, happy times and fun with friends. This story by John Steinbeck has wowed many people around the world and right here. after you read this story you ll for sure want all your friends and families to know too. John steinbeck uses these literary devices to create the story, and develop the theme of friendship throughout the story in Of Mice and Men by john steinbeck, literary foils are used to show the difference and similarities between George and Lennie. Literary foils are important they show the best and worst differences in people. But in this story it gets a little hectic on how different George and lennie are. And mostly about how forgetful lennie is. So you forgot that awready..(george said)....I forgot lennie said softly. i tried not to forget. (steinbeck 4) This supports the literary foils because of how different George and Lennie are and it also explains how different they are.this is important because it shows the struggles each of them go through but them being able to have each other helps them get through those situations. Also lennie gets attached to things so he loves his new pup that george got him, but alittle to much. George put down his cards very deliberately. Lennie, he said sharply (steinbeck 42) This shows that even though george is a nice guy he can be defensive. when he was just outside of the bunkhouse and saw lennie bring a puppy in he would ve beaten lennie up for it so +the pup wouldn t die. This also relates to Lennie s death and how George had to kill him before he actually got hurt, you hadda, George. i swear you hadda. (steinbeck 107) In the end this shows that if george would have died lennie would have killed multiple people to get revenge vs. george just killing the killer and slightly lying to save himself. All these make up a good part of the book but most importantly irony takes a long stride to be the best and how it is used to form the story of the book. in Of Mice and Men by john steinbeck he uses irony to show how lennie says he isn t going to do ... • 4. Martha Stewart Insider Trading Scandal America s most famous homemaker, Martha Stewart, is one of the business mavens involved in an insider trading scandal in the late 2001. Born in 1941 as Martha Kostyra, she developed a passion for gardening, cooking, and housekeeping at an early age. Her mother taught her the basics of baking, cooking, canning, and sewing while her father introduced her to gardening. She married Andrew Stewart while attending Barnard College in New York City. Martha started her career as a successful stockbroker on Wall Street. In order to satisfy her childhood passions, she left the stockbroker business and opened a gourmet food shop that became a catering business in Westport, Connecticut. She is the founder and former CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc., engaged with television, publishing, electronic commerce, merchandising, and related international partnerships. Stewart had an estimated net worth of $650 million prior to the insider trading scandal. In the early 2000s, Stewart became the focus of headlines, speculation, and a federal investigation concerning her stock trading. Van Gulik s novel incorporates diverse characters with varying roles in Tang society, allowing for a more expansive view of the social expectations and perspectives of people of all social classes. However, the popular beliefs of the Tang Dynasty that shaped the people s social expectations and behavior as depicted in The Willow Pattern is arguably the most effective at making the novel a viable representation of the time period. This factor is not only prevalent in the characters actions, but it also has a prominent effect on the development of the novel s plot. Mrs. Mei, the murderer of her husband Mr. Mei and the cause of the central conflict of the novel, reveals to have committed this crime out of selfish desires during her trial under Judge Dee she explains that her lust for power and an escape from the constraints of the patriarchal system, actions that go against the ideal Confucian woman s expectation of obedience and reverence for her husband, was her motive for her crime. Mrs. Mei, although sentenced by the court to death, dies of illness, representing how her defiance from her social expectations results in her own downfall. • 6. Cannonball Jellyfish Research Paper Stomolophus meleagris, also known as the cannonball jellyfish, can often and most frequently be found off the shorelines of countries bordering the Pacific Ocean preferably in water temperatures close to 74 degrees Fahrenheit. It is part of the kingdom Animalia and located in the phylum Cnideria. The jellyfishgets its name because it possesses radial symmetry and because of its bell, which can range up to seven inches in diameter. Colors of this jellyfish slightly vary between clear and a gradual light to dark brown color. They have circular muscles on the underside of their bell which contract and allow it to propel itself through the water, as well as keep it upright. Cannonball jellyfish can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Sexual reproduction starts when the male jellyfish spews its sperm into the water, which is received by the female jelly. Once received, the egg and sperm begin to develop larvae and form motile planula (free swimming, bilaterally symmetric larva). Once these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Leadership Styles From The Point Of View Comparative Analysis The articles under analysis explore leadership styles from the point of view of their relation to gender (Merchant, 2012) and personality (Yahaya et al., 2011). Merchant (2012) provides a valuable research, which is focused on gender as the major determinant of leadership styles in individuals. Providing an analysis of literature, Merchant (2012) indicates that many studies analyzing the intersection of gender and influence tactics have resulted in mixed finding (p. 24). It proves the argument that gender stereotypes play a major role in attributing particular roles for females and males on the basis of their biological sex and what is expected of them. Whereas Merchant (2012) does not present a particular argument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I happened to work under both female and male leadership, and I should admit that the difference between them is not evident everything depends on personality, and dissimilarities in influence tactics are attributed to situational circumstances such as individual setting (Merchant, 2012, p. 26). Personal Leadership Style My leadership style is both Participative and Democratic, and it is influenced by the three variables gender, personality, and age. Democratic Leader makes the final decision, only after receiving the input and recommendations of all team members, (Goetsch, 2002). I focus on getting to the bottom of the problem with working through it. Effect of Gender Though gender is a contradictory variable in affecting leadership styles, I should note that gender does play an important role in the way I influence other people. In this aspect, I should agree with Merchant (2012), who indicate, women value cooperation [...] and have a less clear focus on where the boundaries of their friendships end and their individual identities begin (p. 18). As a female, I feel I have to work harder than a male doing the same job. Even though, I feel that I have to work harder than a man, I also think that it s not always about your gender, but how a person is a leader. The Ass found the Lions skin and put it on knowing that it was not his. The Ass did not think much of taking the Lion s skin and wearing it as his own because the hunters left the skin out to dry. Convection Current ( Chris Woodford 2014 ) Background Information Figure 1: Convection Current (Chris Woodford 2014) The first fully automatic electric kettle was released by Russell Hobbs in 1956. It boiled water in the most efficient manner that had ever been seen previously. A coil of thick metal called a heating element was located at the bottom of the kettle (Chris Woodford 2014). By plugging in the kettle into an electrical outlet an electric current is able to flow into the heating element. As the element has a certain resistance it converts the electrical energy into heat, heating the cold water surrounding the element. The higher the temperature, the faster the atom is (Chris Woodford 2014). Therefore, the faster atoms from the element collide with the slower atoms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using this value it can be determined how my energy is required to raise the temperature of one litre of water from 20В°C, to 100В°C, as done by a kettle(Hyper Physics 2014). The amount of energy needed to boil the litre of water is; 4.2 Г— 1000 grams Г— 80 degrees = 336,000 joules, therefore it takes 336 kJ to raise the temperature by 80В°C. The main two materials that surround kettles are plastic and metals (Engineering Toolbox 2014). Each material acts differently in terms of thermal conductivity, therefore altering how much heat is released into the air surrounding the kettle (Engineering Toolbox 2014). The most common plastic used is Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) as it is flame retardant, has a high heat resistance, high impact resistance and has good chemical resistance (Professional Plastics 2014). However, plastic is generally not as long lasting as metal as it is thin and is easier to break. On the other hand, the most common metal used in the construction of kettles is stainless steel. It is used because it retains a high strength at elevated temperatures, has a high tensile strength and is a poor conductor of electricity, meaning users are not at risk of electrocution (eMachineShop 2014). Stainless steel is also used as it generally lasts longer than plastic and because of its aesthetics. The most critical difference between ABS and stainless steel is the level of thermal conductivity. Stainless steel has a much higher level of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Maybe its renewed popularity was something to do with the very unique socio political situation in the 1960s echoing a the unique situation of the late eighteenth century, the heyday of the genre.) Since then there has been a deluge of commentary which has elevated the genre to a critical and scholarly favourite. It is often said that one of the unifying features of Romanticism is its intentional political relevance. Much of the canonical Romantic literature is inspired or informed by socio political events. We need only look at Blake s work or key poems by second generation Romantics like Shelley s Ode to the West Wind or The Mask of Anarchy to verify this. The same is true of Romantic Gothic which arose around that unique period in European history posthumously defined by the French Revolution but significant for its trans European massive cultural and social upheaval indicated in part by repeated rioting in Britain (Lowe, vii) and a widespread clamour for various reforms. The book is about Ponyboy and his gang. They are greasers and going up against the Socs from the west side. The theme of The Outsiders is hardships can happen to anyone, no matter what kind of person they are. An example of a hardship is when Johnny dies. Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold... The pillow seemed to sink a little, and Johnny died (Hinton 148). This shows when Johnny died and Ponyboy was there with him. Although Reba corrects her mother Pilate by saying, That ain t her brother, Mama. They cousins , Pilate counters, I mean what s the difference in the way you act toward em? Don t you have to act the same way to both? (Morrison 54). This first encounter sets the basis of Hagar s and Milkman s relationship. Pilate makes clear that family is family no matter the degree of kinship. Accordingly, Pilate tries to predetermine how Hagar should regard her cousin and this conversely reveals the incestuous nature of Milkman and Hagar s coming relationship. From this moment forth, Hagar makes Milkman the center of her life by becoming the active since Milkman no longer chases her (Qasim and Asmat 193). Apparently Milkman loses interest when he seems to own her. Interestingly, this relationship is primarily depicted as a physical one. This directly results in the fact that Milkman s interest is primarily of a sexual nature, but does not truly love or value her. So it is not surprising that, instead of recognizing true love, he describes Hagar as the third beer. • 15. Alice In Wonderland Through The Looking Glass Analysis Lewis Carroll: Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass Charles Lutwidge Dodgson not only set a precedent for the genre of children s literature not yet common in the victorian era but he also impacted modern absurdist literature by his creative writing. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There, all published under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, gained a large following by men, women, and children because of their whimsical tales of adventure. Carrolls fascination with little girls combined with having influence in the church allowed him to become friends with the reverend s daughter Alice whom gave him the idea to create the story Alice s Adventures Underground. Charles was the eldest son of Reverend Charles Dodgson, a clergyman in the Church of England, and Francis Jane Lutwidge. She gave birth to her third child, Carles on the twenty seventh of January in 1832 in the Parsonage of Daresbury England. He came from a large family, numbering eleven children, and was often charged with the task of amusing his younger sisters which may help explain how he developed his love of games and his devotion to little girls. (Stanley 18) At the age of eleven Charles revealed his early genius for nonsense by editing and writing for a series of family magazines called The Rectory Umbrella and Mismasch . Charles began school at the Richmond Grammar School, where he spent a year and a half; this was followed by three years at Rugby. He maintained very high academic standards throughout school and college. In 1851 he entered Christ Church College of Oxford University, and in 1854 he received his undergraduate degree. At the Church of England he earned himself a lifetime residency provided he became a clergyman. Dodgson lived and worked at Oxford University teaching math until 1898. The world has come to know Charles Dodgson as Lewis Carroll, a pseudonym he chose in 1856 for his fictional and poetical works. He reserved his family name for his academic books and essays. By 1857, he had begun publishing both mathematical treatises and essays on logic. Even these dry academic writings were marked by his quirky sense of humor, whimsy, and fun. He wrote ... As a result of surfing, the California drought of the 1970s, and the film work and photography of Craig Stecyk, this once dead sport has risen from the dead for good. It all began in the early 1970s when Dogtown, located in Venice Beach, California was home to a secret surfingcove. This area was constantly populated by pyromaniacs, drug addicts, artists, and of course surfers , but most importantly the Zephyr surf team. This team was known as The mafia of the waves (Peralta, 2002). While surfing on the coast, this team relentlessly practiced new and unique moves on the beachfront. Little did they... As years went on, the minds and creativity of skaters was bound to evolve. The boys from Dogtown did just that. With reference to my second point, these skaters took advantage of Mother Nature. When the California drought of the 1970s occurred, they made use of the architecture that was not being used. Seaside pools became more than just an empty unusable piece of land built underground, but a bowl for skaters to develop their innovation for the future of the sport (Hayes, 2005). The availability of television time also had an impact on the rise of skate. While the status of skateboarding was taking off, so was television and sport. The 1980s marked the introduction of innumerable network options (Cable s Story, 2015). Not long after in the mid 1990s, the X Games kicked off and included skateboarding as one of its activities. The play was a different and clever take on the mystery novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The play the book tell the story about an attempted murder of a man called Sir Henry Baskerville, who has just inherited his uncle, Sir Charles Baskerville s estate. There is some suspicion surrounding Sir Charles death. It was a very sleek and modern looking place. It was smaller than I imagined outside and inside of the theatre. The stage was a perfect square black box type stage, completely surrounded by lights. The show was done by the Philadelphia Theatre Company, and the show was written by American playwright Ken Ludwig. The contemporary drama show premiered at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC on January 16th, 2015. Ludwig s interpretation of the story was very clever and funny. It was close to being farcical, but the actual premise of the show kept it from reaching that point. There were two things that made the play stand out. Some commonly known ones are Alzheimer s or Huntington s disease. There is no cure or treatment for adult onset diseases like this. First of all, children will often have difficulty understanding and responding to the stresses of serious disease and death can lead to behavioral problems (Klitzman). For his Protestant beliefs, Jean de Coras was hung before the Toulouse Parliament with a hundred of his friends (2:00:20). The most common practice during this time was placing several generations of one family in the same cave or tomb with a variety of offerings, such as pottery vessels, jewelry, and metal objects. In most cases, skeletal remains were found disarticulated with the skulls separated from the bodies. For example, at Tell Asawir bones were packed in pottery jars; at Azor there is some evidence of cremation; and at Jericho the skulls were separated and arranged in rows (Mazar 1990). The use of caves for multiple burials became popular again in the Middle Bronze Age IIB C after a long gap. This method suited an urban society in which families wished to bury their dead in the same place over several generations. Dozens of rich burial caves from this period at Jericho are good examples of the custom. The bodies were laid on a wooden bed in the center of the cave. The ruminant animal is unique because of its four stomach compartments: reticulum, rumen, omasum and abomasum. The function of the rumen as a fermentation vat and the presence of certain bacteria promote the development of gases. These gases are found in the upper part of the rumen with CO2 and CH4 making up the largest portion (Table 1). The proportion of these gases is dependent on rumen ecology and fermentation balance. Typically, the proportion of carbon dioxide is two to three times that of CH4, although a large quantity of CO2 is reduced to CH4. The eructation of gases via belching is important in bloat prevention but is also the way CH4 is emitted into the atmosphere. This theory tells us that short lived pairs of particles and their antiparticles are constantly being created and destroyed in an apparently empty space. In quantum mechanics the weird behaviour of electrons are not accurately explained and until now not a single theory is acceptable by the whole scientific community to postulate the phenomena. The electrons become linked, or entangled, such that changing one invariably affects the other, no matter how far apart they are; something Einstein called spooky action at a distance . There are a number of cosmological principles in Islamic science which are formulated based on the relevant Qur anic verses, prophetic traditions and intuitive knowledge of famous traditional Muslim scholars. Alpha amylase is a protein enzyme present in grains that have starch. It is also present in humans, most commonly in saliva (Murray). The breakdown of starches into sugars gives the plant a food source to help it grow. In the 1970 s, Australian wheat farmers were suffering because their wheat crop was being bought at a reduced rate due to high alpha amylase activity (Csiro). This was caused by LMA, or late maturity alpha amylase. LMA is a genetic defect that causes high alpha amylase activity before harvest (Csiro). This meant that the wheat could not be stored as long and had poor milling qualities. As a result, in 1980, Australians recognized late maturity alpha amylase as a genetic defect in their wheat, along with pre harvest sprouting, or PHS (Csiro). Late maturity alpha amylase is caused only by genetics, where pre harvest sprouting can be caused by growing conditions, such as heavy rainfall. Today in Australia, wheat breeders have to test through two cycles of wheat before they pick what wheat lines they will breed and release to the farmers (Csiro). Even though they screen their wheat for LMA and PHS, wheat can still be susceptible to high alpha amylase activity, which will then become the millers responsibility. In the flour mill, if incoming wheat has high alpha amylase activity the miller must blend the wheat with wheat that has low alpha amylase activity, in order to create a blend with the proper amount of amylase activity. If the incoming wheat has too high amylase activity, the wheat will be rejected and the farmer will receive an even more income reductions. Millers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No, I am not going to give you some mumbo jumbo about how everyone in the network marking industry is successful. However, I will tell you that, anyone in network marketing can be successful. Not everyone who has attempted to succeed in network marketing has done so. Do you know why? Not everyone has the drive, determination, patience and confidence that it takes to make it in network marketing. I will tell you first and foremost, most companies will ask you to make a list of all of your friends and family, and try to promote your product to them first. This can give you the opportunity to test your sales skills. However, not all of your friends and family will not see the value in what you have to offer. Why? It is not because you do not have the skills to market your products and services to them. It is because the majority of your friends and family tend to always assume the worst about new business ventures; especially network marketing. Maybe they have tried it themselves and failed miserably.
