This document introduces a unit of study called "Up Against the Wild" which will examine how people face threats to their survival and react to those threats. Students will consider whether different people respond in the same way or differently when faced with threats to their survival. They will read texts about people confronting challenges to survival and discuss what threatens survival and how people respond. Students will also discuss and share questions that will guide their discussions throughout the unit.
