Take the lead, ask questions, and don’t be shy 
Play with them - show them how it’s supposed to sound 
Encouragement and praise at every stage 
Overcome the weirdness 
Repetition and variety 
Be clear in your explanations - think about how you want to 
explain something
A basic lesson plan… 
Warm ups 
Recap what you did last week (review what they have 
practised) 
Something new/harder 
Something fun 
Set practice
Rooms and times… 
Use a normal classroom where possible 
Schedule your lesson with your teacher and make 
sure you BOTH put them in your planners - DO NOT 
MISS A LESSON YOU HAVE SCHEDULED 
After school practice room timetables will be posted 
up outside the office. Priority to pianists, drummers, 
and singers (in that order).
When you need help…

2. Ask your actual instrumental teachers 
3. Ask each other
