This document provides an overview of Chinese social media. It discusses the history and growth of social media in China from the 1990s to 2011. Major social networks at the time included RenRen, which was mostly used by university students and white collar workers, and QQ, which was popular among teenagers and rural users. Microblogging platforms also emerged, with Sina Weibo becoming the dominant player with over 140 million registered users, focusing on white collar urban users. The document compares features of RenRen, Sina Weibo and Chinese social media to Facebook and Twitter, such as emphasis on media content over text-based updates and prioritization of retweets over original content.
The document appears to be notes from a meeting or series of correspondence on September 8, 2009. It discusses topics such as social media, branding, data visualization, awards, and vending machines. Various products and services are mentioned along with links, pictures, and dimensions. Confidential information is noted and distribution of the email's contents without permission is prohibited.
The document lists the names of various brands, organizations, publications, and individuals. It seems to provide an overview of the clients, partners, or areas of work of a company that specializes in branding, social media, user experience, and data visualization based on the first line of the document. The high-level focus seems to be on communication strategies across various industries.

This document discusses research done for a product called "Movie Reproduction of the Mind" which would allow users to view movies of thoughts, dreams, and memories recreated from brain scan data. The research included learning how functional MRI can detect brain activity changes to measure what the brain sees, and developing a name, logo, and initial website wireframes for the product. Key points are that the product would let users see movies of thoughts no one else can see, and the chosen name was "Dream Player".

In a world where focus is shifting away from keywords and more towards audiences, how do we keep up and stay ahead of the curve? And how do we master the true potential that Facebook’s advertising product provides?
The paid landscape is changing. Year-on-year incremental CPC increases have forced paid marketers to look beyond search advertising. In a world where focus is shifting away from keywords and more towards audiences, how do we keep up and stay ahead of the curve? And how do we master the true potential that Facebook’s advertising product provides?
With the recent announcement that the Facebook algorithm is changing, brand and marketers are having to adapt and, if they’re not already, look into investing into paid Facebook advertising.
This talk is aimed at all those wishing to understand the truly impressive results that Facebook can provide when used properly and to help you master Facebook ads. The talk with share insights, best practices, tips, tricks and tools learned from spending > €1 Million on Facebook Ads.
The document introduces the 7F Model of brand interaction which explains that people will interact with brands if the expected value of the interaction is higher than the perceived costs. The model identifies seven factors - Fun, Fresh, Fortune, Friends, Fame, Function, and Influence - that determine the value of an interaction. Examples are then provided to show how the model can be used to analyze platforms, utilities, and interactive campaigns from brands like Lego, Vodafone, Nike, and Ikea.
This document discusses research on a new technology that can recreate movies of what the brain sees based on functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and computational models. An fMRI measures brain activity through detecting blood flow changes. The technology "paves the way for reproducing the movies inside your heads that no one else sees, like dreams and memories." The document then discusses the naming and branding of a potential product or service based on this technology called "DreamPlay." It explores developing a playful logotype and social media presence on Facebook to build an online community for the brand.
This document discusses design considerations for multi-touch interfaces. It covers different touchscreen technologies, how the type of device impacts design choices, and principles for optimizing interfaces for touchscreens. Examples of touch-optimized websites are provided. The document concludes with references and credits for included images.
This presentation was presented at BNO Spellbound Amsterdam in march 2011 and dives into the subject of Meta Products. It explains what Meta Products are and how they can be designed. The introduction contains some portfolio cases of Booreiland.
What the F8 Facebook Changes Mean for MarketersT3_TheThinkTank
Â
Facebook announced several major updates at its f8 conference that shift it towards becoming a social storytelling platform. The updates include Timeline, which compiles a user's activity into a visual life story, and gestures, which allow for more expressive interactions beyond just "liking". These changes give users more control over their newsfeed and allow apps and activities outside Facebook to automatically share updates. The updates signal a move towards more engaging and personally relevant content from marketers to integrate their brands into users' stories and lives on the platform.

RSF ran print ads showing political figures known for repressing press freedom with QR codes. Scanning the codes played audio stories told by journalists from those countries. The campaign aimed to raise awareness of dangers faced by journalists and direct viewers to RSF's website for more information and to order a book on press freedom. Another article discusses an app that uses augmented reality to allow users to "catch" Sonic the Hedgehog as he speeds through markers in real world locations, celebrating the game's 20th anniversary. A third article mentions a startup creating large QR codes for advertising purposes.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Â
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

[OReilly Superstream] Occupy the Space: A grassroots guide to engineering (an...Jason Yip
Â
The typical problem in product engineering is not bad strategy, so much as “no strategy”. This leads to confusion, lack of motivation, and incoherent action. The next time you look for a strategy and find an empty space, instead of waiting for it to be filled, I will show you how to fill it in yourself. If you’re wrong, it forces a correction. If you’re right, it helps create focus. I’ll share how I’ve approached this in the past, both what works and lessons for what didn’t work so well.
In the realm of cybersecurity, offensive security practices act as a critical shield. By simulating real-world attacks in a controlled environment, these techniques expose vulnerabilities before malicious actors can exploit them. This proactive approach allows manufacturers to identify and fix weaknesses, significantly enhancing system security.
This presentation delves into the development of a system designed to mimic Galileo's Open Service signal using software-defined radio (SDR) technology. We'll begin with a foundational overview of both Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and the intricacies of digital signal processing.
The presentation culminates in a live demonstration. We'll showcase the manipulation of Galileo's Open Service pilot signal, simulating an attack on various software and hardware systems. This practical demonstration serves to highlight the potential consequences of unaddressed vulnerabilities, emphasizing the importance of offensive security practices in safeguarding critical infrastructure.
