THE FIRST STEP
GOOGLE MY
BUSINESS
My Digital Marketer, LLC
Overview
When most business owners hear the term "digital marketing" they
immediately feel overwhelmed. That's because it can be overwhelming,
but it doesn't always have to be. Today I'm going to share with you the first
step that any local business can take towards a lucrative digital presence.
GOOGLE MY
BUSINESS
That's Right.
TODAY WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT
GOOGLE MY BUSINESS AND WHY EACH
AND EVERY BUSINESS OWNER SHOULD
HAVE AN OPTIMIZED PROFILE.
"WHAT IS GOOGLE MY
BUSINESS"
For those of you who don't
know, your Google My
Business Profile is how you
show up on Google maps
along with many other Google
features. It looks a little
something like this.
Good News!
You already have one.
Google is pretty smart, so they will create
a standard Google My Business Profile for
you once they find out that you're doing
business. It's up to you to claim it and
make sure that all of the information is
up to date.
"Why"
BECAUSE, LIKE I SAID, GOOGLE IS PRETTY SMART, SO THEY'VE
ALREADY CREATED THE PROFILE FOR YOU. BUT THEY AREN'T
STALKERS. THEY DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR
BUSINESS. THEY GENERALLY KNOW THE NAME, ADDRESS,
AND INDUSTRY. PROVIDING THEM WITH MORE DETAILS
ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS CAN MAKE IT EASIER FOR THEM TO
RECOMMEND YOU TO A CUSTOMER.
Example Time
A Case Study
A client of mine named Tom runs storage facility called James River RV &
Boat Storage. He called me frustrated with the performance of his
website. The first thing I asked was "have you set up a Google My Business
profile?" He had not, but Google had made one for him.
What did
we do?
UPDATE INFORMATION
Google knew that Tom was running a storage
facility, but that was about it. The first thing
we did after claiming the profile was updating
his information.
OPTIMIZE INFORMATION
After making sure Google had all of the correct
info, we were able to start optimizing. This
included updating pictures and listing specific
services that they offered.
CLAIM THE PROFILE
The first thing we did was claim the profile
that Google had made. This is super simple
and can be done via phone number
verification or via address verification.
THE
RESULTS?
WE'LL LET THEM SPEAK FOR
THEMSELVES
AFTER JUST 1 WEEK
TOM SAW A 700% INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF
CUSTOMERS WHO FOUND HIS BUSINESS WHILE
SEARCHING FOR INDUSTRY KEYWORDS. IT'S REALLY
THAT SIMPLE!
Unclaimed
56%
Claimed
44%
Have You
Claimed Yours?
56% of the businesses on Google have
yet to be claimed! That means, roughly
half of the businesses that Google
knows of are loosing out on this
opportunity. Have you claimed your
Google My Business profile yet?
