INTRODUCTION
What is Fiber?
History of Google fiber
 In March 2011, Google Fiber started in
Kansas City
 In July 2012, started three services
 In February 2014, Google announced they
had chosen another 34 cities as candidates for
future expansion
Today’s internet V/s Google fiber internet
 Internet is not as fast
 Average internet speed is
5 Mbps
Using Copper Wires
 High speed internet
 Speed up to 1 GB per second
Using Fiber Optic Cables
What are Fiber Optics?
Fiber-optic lines are strands of optically pure glass as thin as a human hair
that carry digital information over long distances.
If you look closely at a single optical fiber, you will see that it has the following parts:
•Core - Thin glass center of the fiber where
the light travels
•Cladding - Outer optical material
surrounding the core that reflects the light
back into the core
•Buffer coating - Plastic coating that
protects the fiber from damage and
moisture
How Does an Optical Fiber Transmit Light?
The light in a fiber-optic cable travels through the core (hallway) by constantly
bouncing from the cladding (mirror-lined walls), a principle called total internal
reflection. Because the cladding does not absorb any light from the core, the light
wave can travel great distances.
Total Internal Reflection
Total internal reflection is an optical phenomenon that happens when a ray
of light strikes a medium boundary at an angle larger than a particular critical
angle with respect to the normal to the surface
Advantages of Fiber Optics
• Less expensive
• Medical imaging - in bronchoscopes, endoscopes,
laparoscopes
• Mechanical imaging - inspecting mechanical welds in pipes
and engines (in airplanes, rockets, space shuttles, cars)
• Plumbing - to inspect sewer line
Because of these advantages, you see fiber optics in many industries,
most notably telecommunications and computer networks.
Fast and powerful Wi-Fi
Enjoy super fast Wi-Fi speeds with 802.11a/b/g/n Extend your access to
Google Fiber all over your home with the integrated Wi-Fi access point and
ethernet port in your TV Box.
Today’s TV V/S Google fiber Tv
• It doesn’t provide HD
channels If you want hd
clarity its cost extra
• In LED or LCD tv .HD
channels are good.but If you
change to normal
channel,the clarity is poor
Watch 150+ Crystal clear

Today’s TV V/S Google fiber Tv
• Mostly set upbox doesn’t
record your favourite tv

• some setup box record tv
serial doesn’t have 2
terabytes of storage
• Record up to eight programs
• unprecedented two terabytes
of storage, you will never have
to worry about having enough
space to record your favorite
shows.
