Brandon Ingram Case Study
This article is about what kind of player Brandon Ingram will be when he starts his rookie season
with the Lakers. He is not going to cause as much drama as D Angelo Russell did last season.
During his introductory news conference on Tuesday, he did not anticipate how he might play
this season instead he promised that he would be coachable. He said this same word three times
as he was questioned at the Lakers practice facility with second round draft pick Ivica Zubac. He
said that he will be coachable enough to listen to the coach. He just expects to work hard and
show up every day aggressive. He also pointed out that no one can replace Kobe Bryant and that
as long as his coach is happy, he is happy. This sounded a little prepared and cheesy,... Show more

Researchers have now found that eating pasta actually lowers chances of obesity after examining
data on thousands of Italians. According to George Pounis savoring pasta helps a healthy body
mass index, lower waist circumference, and better waist hip ratio after looking at data. Older
research has recommended the Mediterranean Diet which is a lifestyle not a meal plan.
Researchers say that the unknown about how pasta affects health has been solved by this new
study. These results were published online, July 4 in the journal Nutrition and Diabetes. Pounis
added that eating pasta does not increase body weight but actually lowers it. People have
avoided pasta in these current years because they thought it was making them fat, but this new
research has caused people to look back on these views. Two huge studies were started in
Pozzilli, Italy so Pounis and the others part of IRCCS Neuromed can analyze. This included
23,000 Italians. One of the studies was the Moli sani Project which involved citizens part of the
Molise region and the other was the Italian Nutrition and Health Survey which looks at the eating
habits in all of Italy. The research didn t include overeating pasta which could add weight. Licia
Iacoviello wrote that the obese population were older and had higher waist and hip circumference
as well as waist to hip ratio. They also ate more

Compare And Contrast The Spanish And Aztecs
The Aztec and Spanish were both some of the strongest nations in the place they inhabited. The
Spanish went to war to collect territory for their homeland in Spain. The Aztec went to war to
please their gods and collect prisoners to sacrifice. The Spanish war strategies were for taking over
the land they desired without war, but if it came to it they would fight. The weapons that both
nations used were very dangerous, but were well suited for what they nation needed them for. The
Aztecweapons were mostly for capturing prisoners. The Spanish weapons were used mostly for
killing and were very durable. The Aztec and Spanish both had different reasons for going to war

Warfare was a part of Aztec life, the Aztecs went to war so that could capture people to sacrifice
to their beloved gods. They believed if they did not sacrifice people the gods would get angry
and the world would end. Other reasons to go to war were that they could expand their territory,
and collect resources. The Aztec threw scattered wooden spears to disperse the enemy troops,
come in and knock out the dispersed enemy warriors. The Spanish had a very different approach to
war the Spanish tried to peacefully negotiate and discover the most powerful. When the Spanish
found the strongest colony they would kidnap their leader and make him do their bidding, if the
leader would not listen they would threaten to kill him. If things did not work out peacefully the
conquistadors would fight on open ground where they have an advantage. The tactics and strategy
so that the Spanish and Aztec used were very different, but the Spanish had many superior weapons,
tactics, and focused more on killing rather than capturing. All of these reasons are why the Aztec

Essay On My Love Of Literature
As a child, I enjoyed literature. I was fascinated by the bright illustrations and flamboyant texts
that accompanied these simple stories which always involved a lively ending and a central
theme. I read in order to find enjoyment through the ludicrous adventures of the children s story
protagonists. As I progressed through grade school, the style and my association with literature
began to drastically change.I was told that these books would broaden my knowledge, enrich my
vocabulary and strengthen my writing skills. Perhaps this is true, but I could not help feeling
that reading had now become homework (a forced assignment) and it not help these books
lacked the charm which the ones of my childhood possessed. I now dislike the concept of
literature because books I now read lack the virtues which I enjoyed in children s books and are
read only because they are a requirement of my education. The first reason why I now dislike the
concept of literature is because books I now read lack the virtues which I enjoyed in children s
books. First, the books I once read like Eric Carle and Geronimo Stilton contained vivid
illustrations, flamboyant texts, and playful adventures. I remember In Kindergarten during story
time, my teacher would enthusiastically read the works of Eric Carle, holding the book in way that
the whole class could see the illustrations. I was astonished when the chameleon in The Mixed Up
Chameleon adopted the features of other animals in order to better itself

Snow Falling On Cedars Summary
I.Introduction
A.Snow Falling on Cedars David Guterson; Night Elie Wiesel
B.The story takes place in an imaginary town called San Piedro in 1954. The plot involves a
murder case where a Japanese American man named Kabuo Miyamoto is suspected of killing a
respected fisherman name Carl Heine in this supportive community. Most of the story is told in
flashbacks which facilitate the dealings of the various characters over the past decades.
C.Thesis: The belief of prejudice and discrimination occurs in our society in the past and present.
Each of these notions is a way to demonstrate the supremacy of one group over another.

supposed to say? He didn t know (Gutterson 137)
2.The author uses the literary device of flashbacks between events happening in the courtroom in
present time and times in the character s memory. The author matches the courtroom case against
Kabuo in the verbatim courtroom with the Japanese American community s case against their white
government and fellow citizen in the courtroom of the past. The author shows how the past
interactions influence the present. For instance, the reader learned that Kabuo was infuriated with
Etta for selling the land that he thought belonged to his family during the testimony of Etta Heine.
During Etta testimony the reader saw a flashback to a time before the war, which demonstrations to
us that Etta has always felt bitter against the Japanese. The flashbacks lend a hand in filling the
gaps in the story and elucidate the biases and prejudice on the trial.

Odysseus Downfall
By putting his men in constant danger, resulting in all of his men dying, Odysseus demonstrates
the hallmark of a dreadful leader. In the episode The Cyclops, Odysseus leads his men into the
cave of polyphemus looking for a fight, because polyphemus is the child of Poseidon. In the
process of looking for a fight he loses quite a few men to the Cyclops, and after escaping continues
to egg polyphemus on by yelling in triumph at the Cyclops. Which almost leads to the crews
demise. After the Cyclops defeat Odysseusboasts, O Cyclops! Would you feast on my
companions?... How do you like the beating we gave you, you damned cannibal? (The Cyclops.
476). This demonstrates Odysseus being a dreadful leader because he puts his men into the danger
of being killed by the Cyclops, and risking their lives by proudly boasting to Polyphemus after
himself and the crew have already escaped.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator speaks to the reader, Odysseus does not tell his men of Circe s last prophecy that he
will be the only survivor of their long journey (The Sirens; Scylla; and Charybdis. 715). This is
another demonstration of dreadful leadership due to the fact that Odysseus knows that all of his
men will die on their journey, but he does not share this information nor does he try to protect his
men; causing the result of his men dying. After leaving Aeolia for a second time, Odysseus and
his men are attacked by gigantic cannibals and escape to the home of the enchantress and goddess
Circe. Circe gets all of Odysseus s men drunk and proceeds to cast her magic on the men, So,

Milton Friedman s The Common Man s Freedom
Milton Friedman realized the importance of the common man s freedom. He believed that the
government had more power over the people and maintained all control over them. He knew that
in ordered for the political and economic freedom to work was to have a mutual agreement
between these parties. They had to come to an agreement, which would allow for mutual
benefits. The Hollywood Blacklist was an example given by Friedman to show the unfair
treatment the government enforced. Actors, musicians, directors, screenwriters and others who
were part of the entertainment business, were all denied jobs because they were accused to
being part of the communist party. By allowing individuals to freely chose other markets,
suppliers or even make the good themselves, individuals would ultimately be part of a free
market. This social justice impelled states to have political freedom because individuals were no
longer scrutinized for their beliefs in order to find jobs. John Stuart Mill was a well known
utilitarian during his time. Mill eyed the community with suspicion similarly to Bentham, who
thought of a community as being fictitious. Mill argues that a state should not restrict the
freedom of speech for two reasons. One reason was because people s opinions are can either true
of false, but this depends on how much a question is debatable and left open for further
questioning. If people s judgments were always found fallible then how can we ever take any
action? One example was the

common sense and logical deduction to give us a clearly description about the complex manage
problems. This special is interested me a lot that attract me to fail into the story that can follow
Dr. Goldratt s ideas. In the book, Dr. Goldratt talks about how a professor trying to attain his tenure
at a university s business school. Dr. Glodratt acted as the professor to show us how the teaching
philosophy could be changed and how to apply the Theory of Constraints to project management.
This novel has many surprises for me that give me a lot of opinion about project management and I
got many points to think about what I need to be.
In the book, the author talked about the reasons which cause the project schedule delay. The author
used a problem called students syndrome which happens in the students, and also I think it s
normal happening in employee community. In students life, there is a phenomenon happens a lot.
When the professors assign homework, such as if a homework could be finished in one week, but
most of times the students will ask for two weeks to finish which mean that the students like to
have longer time to make sure they have enough times. In this case, if the professor agrees the
request to make the due date in two weeks, what will happen? The

Racial Disparities In Criminal Courts
Racial Disparities in Criminal Courts
The earlier criminal courts started to punish those who committed a crime or differentiated from
the norms of society (NACM, 2017). It was a system put in place to keep order. In the 16th
century , if the person was found guilty, it was most likely going to result in a death
sentence(NACM, 2017). Unlike in modern criminal court, the accused was guilty until proven
innocent. The earlier criminal courts followed numerous laws that displayed discrimination until
centuries later, philosophers and policy maker, began to change the laws to try to assure all citizens
rights were protected.
Criminal courts are made, to uphold the rights of citizens to have a fair trial when convicted of crime
. Criminal courts are the center of establishing order and creating justice in society (NACM, 2017).
It is the duty of the courtroom workgroup to assure that the convicted that step in the court has their
due process, which is individual s rights as a citizen such as a fair trial, jury trial, no discrimination,
exclusionary means, and other rights that are established in the amendments. Although the going
rate , which is the normal way of handling crimes, is a consistent method of deciding sentencing,
there are many types of punishments that the guilty receives.
The initial purpose of punishments were to prevent others from committing crime and to
discourage felons from committing more crime. The most popular type of punishment is
incapacitation,

Hans Rosling is a medical doctor and statistician from Sweden. Hans taught Global Development to
Swedish undergraduates. In his video, Ted talk the best stats you ve ever seen he focused on many
of the common myths that people have about world. He starts off the video by talking about
preconceived notions that his students had about the statistics of Child Mortality. He gave the
students a pretest to predict which of 2 countries had worse child mortality rates.
Hans Rosling also talked about myths that were common in third world countries. Myths such as
the third world countries have longer lives with small families, while non third world countries
have larger families with shorter life expectancy. Hans showed this was true in 1962, until the
early 2000. Most countries have moved towards a trend of smaller families and increasing life
expectancy. Countries in Africa were one area lagging in life expectancy, due to a HIV epidemic in
the 90s.
Hans also talked about Income distribution throughout the world, he goes on to say in the video
that there is no gap between rich and poor (in that people earn incomes at all possible rates. The

Essay on The Concept and Formation of the Term Hispanic
Over the course of history, the term Hispanic has been used to categorize a certain portion of the
world s population without knowing the true meaning behind the term. By definition, the term
Hispanic refers to of or relating to the people, speech, or culture of Spain or of Spain and Portugal
(Webster, 2014). Another definition of this term is of, relating to, or being a person of Latin
American descent living in the United States; especially one of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican
origin (Webster, 2014). Before one can assume that they fully understand this controversial term,

Moreover, the lasting consequences left by the introduction of the conquistadors to the New World,
can still be seen today. The conquistadors created an entire racial mixture between the native
Spaniards, the indigenous inhabitants and the native Africans that were introduced to slavery by
the Portuguese colonists (Fox, 2010). When the conquistadors first arrived to the New World, they
were introduced to what some referred to as exotic women which was a term often used to describe
the indigenous women. Due to this introduction, both races created what today is known as criollos
mestizos , mulatos , etc. The term criollo refers to the whites that were born in in latinoamerica.
Whereas, the term mestizos refers to those who had a mix of European and indigenous blood.
However, the social cultural status became stricter for those that fit under the mulatos description,
those who had a white and African blood mix (Fox, 2010). These terms were often used to
discriminate against the general population and keep control over said population by setting
regulation on activities that they were allowed to participate in and those that they were not.
Among other things, these social statuses dictated the jobs that were appropriate for them and those
that were not.
Even though times have changed one can see that the social regulations that were set during the XV
century are still being applied today. In the XV, the parentage of an

Esperanza Rising Short Story
Mexican immigrants in the United States faced difficult challenges daily such as discrimination,
lower wages, and hatred. The book Esperanza Rising is by American writer Pam Munoz Ryan.
Esperanza is a Mexican girl at the age of thirteen, and she had to leave her home in Mexico to
come to the United States as an immigrant. She had to leave because of her greedy uncles. Even
though Esperanza s life was full of challenges, as an immigrant the harshest challenges were not
knowing how to do daily chores, having to go work in the sheds to pay mamaВґs medical bill, and
facing discrimination due to her skin tone. The fact that Esperanza did not know how to do
daily chores because she always had servants, shows her harsh new life as an immigrant. The
first challenge Esperanza faced was not knowing how to sweep the platform. Esperanza had to
sweep the platform to lower the rent her family paid for the house. She did not come from a
family that did their chores they always had servants, therefore she never had to learn how to
sweep. She got made fun of by Marta a striker when she tried to sweep the platform. On page 116

Roselily Murder
Walker continues to use negative imagery and ideas to reveal her hesitation towards the
arrangement. The author uses these literary devices because she wants to illustrate Roselily s
reasons for marrying the man. Roselily does this because it is what s best for her and her
children. In a way, Roselily is being forced because she does not have a better alternative to her
current life. By marrying the man, Roselily will have a renewed lifestyle and reputation.
Roselily imagines the flowers in her hand as kids. When she does this, her head fills with
murderous thoughts. A squeeze around the flowers in her hands chokes off three and four and
five years of breath (Walker 4). As guilty as Roselily feels, this shows how Roselily wishes she
never had given birth to any of her kids. When she tightens her grip on the bouquet of flowers,
she thinks of her children. Roselily dreams she did not give birth to these kids. Roselily s ideas
of murder could possibly be associated with her obsession with the idea of her personal spirit
being robbed from her. Weddings usually give off positive connotations, however in Roselily s
mind she disturbs the happy weddingwith dark thoughts such as the idea of murder. Deviating
from the topic of personal spirit , Brent studies the ferocious thoughts swarming Roselily s mind.
Roselily s rebellious thoughts during the wedding ceremony go so far as to enter the realms of
murder and blasphemy. She expresses a wish that she could be free of her three

Pros And Cons Of Video Games
The world of virtual reality is loved by people who are fan of video games. However, the main
victims to get so deeply absorbed in this kind of world are children (as young as 7 years old). It
is easy for young minds to become addicted to something they are possibly not yet ready for;
especially screens and consoles. Video games are not good for kids since it isolates them from
real life, could encourage violent behaviors and ideas, and chips away at their social skills.
Children could spend the whole day sitting in one place and be perfectly happy with a device. A
major con is that the majority of them become unaware of their surroundings because the children
might be too hypnotized by what is being held in their hands. Most children are quite easy to
entertain, but entertainmentshould not be provided by video games. When he or she becomes
addicted to video games and accustomed to a style of this kind of entertainment, they probably
would favor staying in one place on their electronics instead of experiencing real life. Childhood
is when kids are slowly learning the differences between reality and fantasy. If a child is not
mature enough, and if he or she is exposed to video games at that age, then it might be difficult for
them to differentiate fantasy from reality. Fantasy is usually fun, so a child might rather believe
that what they see in a video gamewill happen in real life. Kids are like sponges, so when they take
in all of what they see into their minds, it s

The Dangers of Smokeless Tobacco Essay
Through with Chew
Using smokeless tobacco does not require inhaling smoke into the lungs, so therefore it is
completely safer than smoking cigarette, right? Wrong. Unfortunately, smokeless and harmless are
not interchangeable terms; as a matter of fact, there is absolutely no such thing as smokeless tobacco
. Smokeless tobacco products come in many different shapes and forms, such as dip, chew, and
snuff. These types of products allow users to get a kick of nicotine without having to inhale the
smoke of cigarettes, so it is not surprising why they re so popular. Most users are unaware of it, but
these products can be just as unsafe, if not even more dangerous, than cigarettes in an abundance of
ways. This misunderstanding causes many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sugar is added to enhance the flavor of smokeless tobacco, increasing the risk for tooth decay ( It
May Be Smokeless 2). The sugar found in smokeless tobacco chemically reacts with the bacteria
naturally found on teeth, causing them to slowly decay. Other very common traits that smokeless
tobacco users have are bad breath, tooth discoloration, and sensitive teeth; all of these effects are
very common in abusive users and can be permanent if not cared for.
Also, the main reason these smokeless tobacco products are so dangerous is because of the all the
hazardous chemicals found inside them, such as nicotine. Nicotine is a chemical found in all
tobacco products that has many health effects on the human body. The difference between cigarette
users, who inhale nicotine containing smoke into the lungs, and smokeless users is that they absorb
the chemicals through their oral cavities, getting nicotine to eventually travel into their
bloodstreams. (Julie 1). As a matter of fact, users [of smokeless tobacco] generally absorb more
nicotine from smokeless tobacco products than from cigarettes (Julie 2). If more people were aware
of this fact, they would definitely think twice before chewing/dipping again. When individuals buy
any smokeless tobacco product on the market, they are also unknowingly purchasing the many
deadly chemicals that come with it. Furthermore, smokeless tobacco products are critically harmful

manufacturers that develop liquid biocide chemicals for eliminating microorganisms in
metalworking fluids. The company currently manufactures the Kathon 886 MW concentrate

Trapped by Society in John Updike s A P Essay example
Trapped by Society in John Updike s A P
People often take their place in society for granted. They accept that position into which they are
born, grow up in it, and pass that position on to their children. This cycle continues until someone
is born who has enough vision to step out of his circle and investigate other ways of life in which
he might thrive. One such person is embodied in the character of Sammy in A P, by John Updike.
Sammy is the narrator of the story and describes an incident in the store where he encounters a
conflict between the members of two completely different worlds the world that he was born into
and the world of a girl that captures his mind. Through his thoughts, attitudes, and actions, Sammy

Lastly, his family, after hearing the whole story, thought it was sad. Sammy, who understood
everything that had happened, did not. In this way he separated himself from his whole family; he
thought in such a different way that he could see things in a light that they could not.
Also emerging from Sammy s thoughts were his attitudes about his place in the world.
Throughout the story, he refers to the customers whom he is employed to serve as sheep s
derogatory term implying that he thought them to be dumb and maddeningly consistent.
However, the way he describes the girl who disrupted the flock showed that he regarded her with
an attitude of awe and high esteem. He set her apart in a class different from his own when he
described how he envisioned her family: Her father and the other men were standing around in
ice cream coats and bow ties and the women were in sandals picking up herring snacks on
toothpicks off a big plate and they were all holding drinks the color of water with olives and
sprigs of mint in them (2). Obviously, Sammy does not have a hard time deciding which class he
likes better, for he constantly refers to the store in ways that reveal his contempt for it.
Sammy s thoughts and attitudes culminate in his actions. Because he was tired of his work and the
people he encountered every day, the girls easily distracted

The Importance Of Identity In My Life
What is Identity? For almost everyone, they would say that it is who you are. But, it means so
much more. Identity is the experiences that will influence your life. Your identity is who you are
and the decisions you make. Without identity, you wouldn t be who you are today. Your identity
can change in a matter of seconds, and there is no way to ensure one s outcome
In my life, I have had various events that contribute to my identity. One of the biggest events that
have affected my life is when I had my first seizure. I was around the age of five. It was around 5
at night, and I was at my babysitter s house. That night when we were eating dinner, I know that
I didn t like the type of pizza it was because it was supreme. Once I had finished my breadstick, I
was going to grab another one. In an instant, my babysitter, Laurie, had slapped my hand. I didn t
cry, but it did make me upset because she could have said no. After a couple of minutes, my
vision became very blurry, and all I could hear was a ringing noise. My body went numb, and all
of a sudden everything went black. When I came to I was on the floor with a throbbing
headache. My babysitter had already called my mother, and she was already on her way to the
house. She only worked a couple minutes away from her house so it didn t take very long for her
to arrive there. When she came inside the house, she looked scared. She kept asking me what
happened, but I had no idea. She then grabbed my shoes and took me to the

The Fat Boy Analysis
The Fat Boy by Owen Marshall is a short story that shows how society in this text influences people
and also highlights the mob mentality of the community. The plot of the text is that the townsfolk
bring into being a fictional personality The Fat Boy , whom they use as a scapegoat for their
crimes. Despite knowing the truththe townsfolk blindly follow the mob, The Fat Boy eventually
becomes a reminder of the towns folks conscience, therefore, to get rid of the constant reminder
they get rid of The Fat Boy. Hence the text also shows how the loss of conscience affects the
community negatively as the whole townchoose to turn a blind eye towards the truth. Through the
text Marshall reveals to us the tribal nature of small town behaviour or mob mentality which is
shown right from the beginning, where the text shows twisted equality as the townsfolk are
following each other in the crimes, the crimes becoming greater as the text proceeds: The Fat Boy
is scapegoated for thievery followed by arson, murder, domestic violence, and rape. It is the
mentality of he did it so why can t I do it too that the townsfolk use as an excuse to continue
committing crimes, which is part of our nature as we tend to follow this mentality too, which
shows how the mob has influenced members negatively. In the text we realise The Fat Boy is not
real is by the way the people describe him The Fat Boy watched the passersby with the Frog like,
faintly enquiring look that the faces of fat boys have. The

Assessment of core competencies for Verizon Corp.
Executive Summary
In order to identify Verizon s core competencies, a SWOT and Five Forces analysis was performed.
The SWOT analysis showed internal strengths in technology diversification, a large and talented
employee resource pool, and an expansive network footprint. Internal weaknesses were revealed that
centered on post merger issues such as corporate culture issues, impending workforce retirements,
and a lack of systems or process consolidation. External opportunities include the potential to further
capitalize on incumbent status, diverse markets, long distance, and brand identity. Finally, external
threats include government regulation, substitution, and a weak economy.

Support systems Many support systems in the former Bell Atlantic, Nynex, and GTE territories
have yet to be consolidated. This leads to inefficient resource allocation that does not provided the
synergistic benefits that are supposed to be realized with a merger.
Processes In many ways, Verizon is still three companies (Bell Atlantic, Nynex, and GTE).
Although Verizon has consolidated and standardized some of their processes, there is still a lot of
room for improvement.

В§ Incumbent status In most areas, Verizon has been the incumbent local exchange carrier(ILEC)

В§ Diverse markets Telecommunications markets can local, regional, or global. Furthermore,

As Choi and Meek exemplify, transfers between related business units represent 60 percent of all
international trades (Choi amp; Meek, p. 448). Thus, one can start to understand how important it
is to define accurate transfer prices. As mentioned, the globalization of markets and the rapid
development of communication systems have increased the presence of trades between companies
under common control. However, other factors have also helped highlight the subject. Factors like
the increase of service provided within MNE s, the continuous trading activity and the use of
financial instruments have increased the amount of trade between associated parties. Political
forces have also assisted in the development of transfer pricing regulations, especially now during
this economic crisis as governments try to increase their income through tax collection. For
example, a parent company could pay less income tax in the US by determining a higher transfer
price from the product it purchases from its subsidiary located in China. Since China s corporate
income tax is 25% and the US tax rate is 35%, this arrangement would generate a higher income at
the subsidiary in China and less overall income tax payment for the financial group in question.
Nevertheless, such arrangements can be prevented by tax authorities in the US, since according to
Section 482 of the Internal Revenue Code the Secretary may distribute, apportion, or allocate gross
income, deductions, credits, or

I am a female who was named after a telenovela, Abigail born in Pomona CA and raised in San

We take family trips out of state every year and also do fun activities around the city.
With that being said, my living status is that I m still living with my parents and i m not

Stress and Cancer
Introduction
The human body is an intricately interlinked organism. Every system of the body has a role to
play in the well being of the other. The most prevalent disease of the modern age is cancer, and
there has been considerable effort to determine the causes of cancer. Substantial research in this
regard point to stress being one of the leading causes of cancer.
The Impact of Stress on Cancer Cancer, medically called tumorigenesis (Thaker, Lutgendorf, Sood,
2007, p.430) occurs when cells in the body orient themselves for malignant growth. Such cells show
self sufficiency in growth signals , are insensitive to anti growth signals and have limitless
replicative potential (Thaker, Lutgendorf, Sood, 2007, p.430). Once a particular set of cells become
malignant, the malignancy can spread to other set of cells in different organs due to crosstalk
between the affected cells and their surrounding tissues and micro environments (Thaker,
Lutgendorf, Sood, 2007, p.430). Current research is focusing on the role of neuropeptides and
neurotransmitters in the occurrence of cancer. Researchers have observed that cancerous cells
require nutrients and the diffusion of oxygen to proliferate malignantly. In this aspect, stress related
hormones act as inhibitors or stimulants to cancerous growth depending upon the type of hormone
and the type of cancer. It has been established that пЃў agnostic

Andersen in the context of Figure 11.1. The architectural design of a firm varies greatly. In 1950,
the business environment of Arthur Andersen included using the computer effectively for
automated bookkeeping. Structure and regulation of the markets, helped Arthur Andersen to
develop into a well respected and reputable auditing company. The federal law in the 1930s

Andersen s strategy included quality audits with a well managed staff and profits. Promotions and

Andersen s organizational architecture and strategy focused on generating new business, cost

Research Question and Research Hypothesis Our question for this study is Are molded cleats faster
than detachable cleats on grass surface? We hypothesize that molded cleats will produce a better 40
yard dash time that detachable cleats due the weight difference between molded and detachable
cleats.
Operational Definitions For our research study, the term molded cleats means, a shoe with a cleat
attached to the bottom that can t be removed. The cleats are molded to the bottom of the shoe.
When the cleats wear out, it can no longer be worn. Another term for our study is detachable cleat.
A detachable cleat is a shoe with cleats on the bottom that can be taken out at any time at replaced.
These cleats are normally more durable and a bit heavier.

We decided to use both questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires were constructed at Form
Four vocabulary level and lower to ensure that the respondents would be able to completely
understand them. Also, we used the research questions to guide the construction of the
questionnaires. Before distributing the data collection tools we spoke to the staff to determine
which class bullying cases were reported most often they said Form Four. We then did a survey in
the form to find out who has been bullied before to do stratified sampling. This was done this way
because it would not have been efficient and effective to give questionnaires to students who are not
being bullied. To triangulate the information that we were about to collect we decided to use
interviews with the questionnaires. This was to ensure that the information that was collected from
the questionnaires were similar to what was collected in the interview. A sample of the students
who completed the questionnaires were later interviewed. I would say that this part of the
research mentioned is the most important as if it is not done correctly the research can go in
directions other than desired. If the research has no direction there would not be an effective

Before 1911 there were already five ships named after the state of New York. The first NEW

Here s what you need to know.
пѓ±Evaluative metering measures light everywhere within the image, though gives a bit more
attention to the area around the focal point. Use it for evenly lit scenes.
пѓ±Center weighted metering measures light from the center of the image, no matter where the
camera is focused. Use this mode for subjects towards the center of the image, especially if the
subject is backlit.
пѓ±Spot metering uses a very small portion of the image (your focal point) to measure the exposure.
Where evaluative metering takes a large portion around the focal point, spot metering takes much
less of the image into consideration. Use this when the subject doesn t take up a large portion of
the frame like for photographing birds.
An ambitious photographer knows how to shoot in any lighting.
Often, the photo shoots are scheduled for the times of the day when the lighting is best, like late in
the evening. But what about when a wedding ceremony unfolds at high noon outdoors with no
shade? The same shot will look different at different times of the day, but an ambitious
photographer will still get the shot even if the lighting is

Are Sports Good For Children
Some think that sports are good for children because they help with making friends and it helps
they children with school and their grades. But, others think that it is a bad thing for children
some people say that it costs too much or they don t want the risk of getting injured. This is an
issue that needs to be solved. Should we let children play sports or should they not.? Some sports
put s too much pressure on some youths and injuries are at high risks to happen to youths. One
reason that sports are negative because a lot of pressure goes onto the children and most injuries
happen during some youth sports. In the article Listening to Wisdom From a 10 Year Old Boy
About his Head Injury Adam Buckley Cohen said, But when Will voiced his fears, I... Show more

This proves that some children and youths don t have the confidence to go out and play weather
they don t think they are good or they don t think that they are skinny enough. And that they just
don t enough of confidence in themselves. Injuries are a dangerous thing and also serious thing
when it comes to sports and it needs to be taking seriously, if they have never had one before
they would not know what if will feel like. It is clear that some sports are good for youths but
most sports aren t, since it causes injuries some most sports cause too much pressure. The reason
that the evidence and the claim are important because it explains what is the good and bad parts of
sports. Both sides are still taking about sports and what are the benefits and the disagreements are
the benefits is that they would make new friend and stay in the sport, but the bad thing is that they
may not enjoy the sport and they may just want to quit. Parents should not pressure the child so
much into doing that

Security Sector Reform
SECURITY SECTOR REFORM Before I proceed, please allow me to give a sincere opinion on
Lt Gen Gaudencio S. Pangilinan AFP (Ret) regarding his lecture on Security Sector Reform.
These are what I think that makes Gen Pangilinan a good lecturer/speaker. He is a subject matter
expert, knows the subject well, and can expand beyond basic concepts readily found in books. He
communicates well and is very dedicated in what he is doing.
Nothing new about Security Sector Reform (SSR) as we all know that SSR is a concept that was
first developed in the 1990s in Eastern Europe. Since it has no fixed definition and no single model
of a security sector exists, SSR generally refers to a process to reform or rebuild a state s security
sector. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In those settings, making people feel safe and secure and (re) building confidence between the
State and its people is vital for sustainable peace and development. In different contexts, from Gen
Pangilinan s lecture, I was informed that SSR can even prevent conflicts or crises from emerging
or resurging and it is also a process that many States undertake on a regular basis to respond to
emerging threats or potential internal or external pressures.
To conclude, the Philippines has yet to show its true colors but the time will come for the
Philippines to rise as a key player regionally and internationally, provided these challenges have
been addressed and resolved. For example, the lack of transparency in the security sector. Until
today, the Philippines does not have a published national security white paper to inform the public
of the government security policy and predicaments.
Thus, with regards to the above matter, I have a few recommendations to overcome these
challenges, because the Philippines is facing internal armed challenges affecting the good
governance of the security sector, the government has to address the structural causes of internal
armed conflicts, insurgency, terrorism and political unrests. Therefore, comprehensive structural
reforms are imperative for SSR. Structural reforms

Defending Beef By Niman Summary
In Defence of livestock Although many researchers believe that our planet s environment and
ecosystems are facing many challenges due to livestock production, proponents of livestock
production believe that the reason why the our environmental condition has worsened is not that we
eat more meat but because we eat less of it. Niman argues that instead of decreasing production, we
should focus on producing meat that is more environmentally sound. She also argues that Feed
production with all its attendant problems of fossil fuel consumption, soil erosion, greenhouse
gases, and chemical pollution can be avoided altogether (Niman, 79). In Defending Beef , she
explicitly criticises the FAO s Livestock s Long Shadow and questions certain statements... Show

There are many different practises and methods available for livestock production, and
ultimately it is the choices that farmers make that determines the production s level of
sustainability. The practices of industrial large scale operations like CAFOs result in both
environmental damage as well as health concerns for humans and animals. Depletion, pollution
and contamination are the biggest obstacles we face when trying to move toward a more
sustainable planet. But when livestock is handled responsibly, with consideration for the
environment and potential consequences, it is indeed possible to produce livestock that is
beneficial for our planet. Organic and grass based farming systems such as silvopastoral systems
have been proven to increase biodiversity, reverse soil erosion and counteract water depletion. By
encouraging farmers to move towards more sustainable methods like these, we can help curb
today s more urgent issues regarding our environment. While there are disagreements between
researchers on how to do this, they all agree that we have to take some kind of action to save our
planet. Possible ways to achieve this include not consuming meat, or buying meat from local,
organic and grass based farmers to ensure the livestock was raised in a responsible way. If more
consumers demanded this type of meat,

Cardiovascular, Respiratory And Energy System
D1 outline the relationships between the cardiovascular, respiratory and energy systems before,
during and after a sporting activity
Scenario: Mo Farah 5km Run Cardiovascular system changesRespiratory system changesUse of the
three energy systems
Before raceBefore the race the cardiovascular system stays the same as there is no physical activity
going on. The heart rate is the same. An averages person s heart rate can range from sixty to one
hundred beats per minute, Mo Farah s heart rate is thirty three beats per minute. His heart rate may
start to rise due to being nervous or due to anticipation. There is no change to the respiratory system

He will start to sweat as he is running at his full potential. The heart will start to work harder and
will deliver oxygenated blood to the muscles via arteries, capillaries and the veins. The blood is
received from the body and it goes into the right atrium and here the blood is filtered and is
passed on to the right ventricle. The blood then goes to the lungs where the deoxygenated blood
becomes oxygenated. The blood then goes back to the heart by the left atrium and it then goes
into the left ventricle, the left ventricle will give a bigger contraction as it is going to the body.
This system is repeated many times. The arteries and veins become bigger so more blood can
pass through. Stroke volume and cardiac output will increase. Stroke volume will increase by
170ml. cardiac output will increase by 35L.During the race the respiratory system is working hard
to deliver oxygenated blood to the muscles. Gaseous exchange takes place and becomes faster as it
is more common during exercise. This will allow more oxygen into the blood stream which will
get to the muscles quicker. The inspiration movement becomes harder and faster and this allows
more oxygen to be breathed in. Expiration becomes quick during physical activity. The nasal
cavity will increase the temperature of the air that is being inhaled and it will filter it to make
sure that there is no dust. During the race Mo Farah uses the aerobic system because he is a long
distance runner. As the race goes on he will start to use the energy that is stored in his muscles
form the food that he has eaten. His heart rate and breathing rate start to speed up to deliver more
oxygen to the muscles and get rid of carbon dioxide. The body will rely on this oxygen until the
last part of the race where Mo will start to pick up the pace to either overtake someone or get a
faster time. During this sprint he will use the

Shylock s Characteristics Of Merchantlock In The Merchant...
Antonio was a typical narrow minded christian when it came to religion; however, he was so true
and passionate about his friends he was willing to risk his life to help his friend in need. Antonio,
a christian, strongly abhors and is very abrasive towards Shylock, a jew: You call me misbeliever,
cutthroat dog, And set upon my Jewish gaberdine,... You, that did void your rheum upon my beard,
And foot me as you spurn a stranger cur (1.3.121 128). Within this quote Shylockis talking to
Antonioand telling him after he has called him a dirty dog, spit on his beard and Jewish clothes,
and kicked him he wants to ask to loan money from him. This shows that Antonio is very narrow
minded because the main reason he mistreats Shylock is because he is a Jew. In addition, this
shows that he is very abrasive when it comes to Shylock because he has done so many terrible
things to him over a period of time and hasn t felt sorry or bad once for what he has done and
how he as treated him. In addition, although, Antonio is very narrow minded when it comes to
religion he is willing to risk his life to help a friend in need. Bassanio, one of Antonio s friends
had asked Shylock to put a loan under his name to wow his dream girl, and Antonio ends up
sealing a bond risking his life for Bassanio: Expressed in the condition, let the forfeit Be
nominated for an equal pound Of your fair flesh, to be cut off and taken In what part of your body

European Werewolf Myth
From Shaman to Demon:
How the Spread of Christianity Shaped the European Werewolf Myth
At the mention of the word werewolf, those familiar with twenty first century literature and
television will often conjure the same iconic image in their minds: an unsuspecting victim of a
wolf bite that develops a deadly silver allergy and undergoes a peculiar transformation every full
moon. The modern myth we have grown to love stems from the medieval picture of a flesh eating
wolf man in league with the Devil, which only barely resembles the werewolf stories of a pre
Christian Europe. With the spread of Christianity in Europe from the early Medieval Period to the
end of the Renaissance, werewolf lore underwent a major transition to better complement ... Show

Where does this tradition come from? In chapter 6 of John in the Bible, Jesus told the apostles, I
am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.
And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh (John 6:51, ESV) and Truly, truly,
I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in
you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the
last day (John 6:53 54, ESV).
This begs the question: if Christians can eat the flesh of other men, why is it so wrong for
werewolves? The answer may lie in the nature of how a werewolf was theorized to obtain his
meals. Proposed by Christians who engage in the tradition of the Eucharist as it was practiced
during the Middle Ages, cannibalism differs from Communion in the detail that while a cannibal
must kill his victim in order to consume his flesh, Jesus does not die when he is consumed during
Communion

Different Types Of Economics Within The Game Show Industry
The business that I have chosen for this project is TV Game Shows. Over the next few pages, I
will show different types of economics within the game show industry.
Cash prizes are paid by the show, and the money comes from the producers, who are paid by the
advertisers/network. There can be a couple of safeguards that make this a little easier for the shows:
They can have an insurance policy to protect them from huge losses. For example, the insurance
company says, we ve studied the odds of your game, and we ll sell you a policy for $200,000 up
front, that pays out full prize money any time someone wins $100,000 or more during this season
of the show. Obviously this is all about a smart insurance company who has studied the gameplay
and sorted out the odds of how many players will win big, but the point is that the show doesn t
have to worry about it. They can let the insurance company work it out, and the show then has a
nice fixed cost expense they can reliably drop into their production budget and not think about it.
For really big prizes ($1,000,000), shows may pay similar to a lottery, where the money is in a
fund that pays over x amount of years, or the winner can take a reduced lump sum immediately.
For example, if you were to win $1 million on a show, they might tell you (after the show is done
taping) okay! We can give you $50,000 a year for the next 20 years, or we can pay you $450,000
lump sum right now and that s all you get.
And of course,

LGBT Reflection Paper
The LGBT community has become highly prominent in the media over the past several years and
while it is prominent, society has failed to properly inform the teen youth of today s society about
the LGBT community which has resulted in a series of misconceptions. While the youth of today
has not been informed the best, Haley and I both being a part of the community, we felt it would
be best if we informed the teen youth within our school of the community. And while we did
attempt to educate the teen youth within our school and it didn t work out as we originally wanted
it to we re still satisfied with the end product that came from the work we put in on this project.
While we did work on this project for several months and it came the big responsibility to attempt
to help others we did learn some things about ourselves through the process of working on this
project. Over the time of the project we learned a lot about the way we manage time, originally we
had made plans to accomplish several things like talking to people like Erin Holbert, the Gender
and Sexuality Alliance club president, and Mrs. Manlief, the clubs sponsor, along with making a
video, etc. Though over time only a couple of the things we had planned got accomplished due to
our insufficient time management for the project. When Haley and I got together most of the time
to work on the project we usually worked together and it went well when we put our head together
to work on the project and we usually made sure

During his introductory news conference on Tuesday, he did not anticipate how he might play this season instead he promised that he would be coachable. He said this same word three times as he was questioned at the Lakers practice facility with second round draft pick Ivica Zubac. He said that he will be coachable enough to listen to the coach. He just expects to work hard and show up every day aggressive. He also pointed out that no one can replace Kobe Bryant and that as long as his coach is happy, he is happy. • 4. Essay On My Love Of Literature As a child, I enjoyed literature. I was fascinated by the bright illustrations and flamboyant texts that accompanied these simple stories which always involved a lively ending and a central theme. I read in order to find enjoyment through the ludicrous adventures of the children s story protagonists. As I progressed through grade school, the style and my association with literature began to drastically change.I was told that these books would broaden my knowledge, enrich my vocabulary and strengthen my writing skills. Perhaps this is true, but I could not help feeling that reading had now become homework (a forced assignment) and it not help these books lacked the charm which the ones of my childhood possessed. I now dislike the concept of literature because books I now read lack the virtues which I enjoyed in children s books and are read only because they are a requirement of my education. The first reason why I now dislike the concept of literature is because books I now read lack the virtues which I enjoyed in children s books. First, the books I once read like Eric Carle and Geronimo Stilton contained vivid illustrations, flamboyant texts, and playful adventures. I remember In Kindergarten during story time, my teacher would enthusiastically read the works of Eric Carle, holding the book in way that the whole class could see the illustrations. The author matches the courtroom case against Kabuo in the verbatim courtroom with the Japanese American community s case against their white government and fellow citizen in the courtroom of the past. The author shows how the past interactions influence the present. For instance, the reader learned that Kabuo was infuriated with Etta for selling the land that he thought belonged to his family during the testimony of Etta Heine. During Etta testimony the reader saw a flashback to a time before the war, which demonstrations to us that Etta has always felt bitter against the Japanese. The flashbacks lend a hand in filling the gaps in the story and elucidate the biases and prejudice on the trial. B. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Milton Friedman s The Common Man s Freedom Milton Friedman realized the importance of the common man s freedom. He believed that the government had more power over the people and maintained all control over them. He knew that in ordered for the political and economic freedom to work was to have a mutual agreement between these parties. They had to come to an agreement, which would allow for mutual benefits. The Hollywood Blacklist was an example given by Friedman to show the unfair treatment the government enforced. Actors, musicians, directors, screenwriters and others who were part of the entertainment business, were all denied jobs because they were accused to being part of the communist party. By allowing individuals to freely chose other markets, suppliers or even make the good themselves, individuals would ultimately be part of a free market. This social justice impelled states to have political freedom because individuals were no longer scrutinized for their beliefs in order to find jobs. John Stuart Mill was a well known utilitarian during his time. Mill eyed the community with suspicion similarly to Bentham, who thought of a community as being fictitious. Mill argues that a state should not restrict the freedom of speech for two reasons. One reason was because people s opinions are can either true of false, but this depends on how much a question is debatable and left open for further questioning. The conquistadors created an entire racial mixture between the native Spaniards, the indigenous inhabitants and the native Africans that were introduced to slavery by the Portuguese colonists (Fox, 2010). When the conquistadors first arrived to the New World, they were introduced to what some referred to as exotic women which was a term often used to describe the indigenous women. Due to this introduction, both races created what today is known as criollos mestizos , mulatos , etc. The term criollo refers to the whites that were born in in latinoamerica. Whereas, the term mestizos refers to those who had a mix of European and indigenous blood. However, the social cultural status became stricter for those that fit under the mulatos description, those who had a white and African blood mix (Fox, 2010). These terms were often used to discriminate against the general population and keep control over said population by setting regulation on activities that they were allowed to participate in and those that they were not. Among other things, these social statuses dictated the jobs that were appropriate for them and those that were not. In a way, Roselily is being forced because she does not have a better alternative to her current life. By marrying the man, Roselily will have a renewed lifestyle and reputation. Roselily imagines the flowers in her hand as kids. When she does this, her head fills with murderous thoughts. • 18. Pros And Cons Of Video Games The world of virtual reality is loved by people who are fan of video games. However, the main victims to get so deeply absorbed in this kind of world are children (as young as 7 years old). It is easy for young minds to become addicted to something they are possibly not yet ready for; especially screens and consoles. Video games are not good for kids since it isolates them from real life, could encourage violent behaviors and ideas, and chips away at their social skills. Children could spend the whole day sitting in one place and be perfectly happy with a device. A major con is that the majority of them become unaware of their surroundings because the children might be too hypnotized by what is being held in their hands. Most children are quite easy to entertain, but entertainmentshould not be provided by video games. When he or she becomes addicted to video games and accustomed to a style of this kind of entertainment, they probably would favor staying in one place on their electronics instead of experiencing real life. Childhood is when kids are slowly learning the differences between reality and fantasy. If a child is not mature enough, and if he or she is exposed to video games at that age, then it might be difficult for them to differentiate fantasy from reality. • 22. Trapped by Society in John Updike s A P Essay example Trapped by Society in John Updike s A P People often take their place in society for granted. They accept that position into which they are born, grow up in it, and pass that position on to their children. This cycle continues until someone is born who has enough vision to step out of his circle and investigate other ways of life in which he might thrive. One such person is embodied in the character of Sammy in A P, by John Updike. Sammy is the narrator of the story and describes an incident in the store where he encounters a conflict between the members of two completely different worlds the world that he was born into and the world of a girl that captures his mind. Sammy, who understood everything that had happened, did not. In this way he separated himself from his whole family; he thought in such a different way that he could see things in a light that they could not. Also emerging from Sammy s thoughts were his attitudes about his place in the world. Throughout the story, he refers to the customers whom he is employed to serve as sheep s derogatory term implying that he thought them to be dumb and maddeningly consistent. However, the way he describes the girl who disrupted the flock showed that he regarded her with an attitude of awe and high esteem. He set her apart in a class different from his own when he described how he envisioned her family: Her father and the other men were standing around in ice cream coats and bow ties and the women were in sandals picking up herring snacks on toothpicks off a big plate and they were all holding drinks the color of water with olives and sprigs of mint in them (2). Obviously, Sammy does not have a hard time deciding which class he likes better, for he constantly refers to the store in ways that reveal his contempt for it. Sammy s thoughts and attitudes culminate in his actions. Because he was tired of his work and the people he encountered every day, the girls easily distracted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Identity is the experiences that will influence your life. Your identity is who you are and the decisions you make. Without identity, you wouldn t be who you are today. Your identity can change in a matter of seconds, and there is no way to ensure one s outcome In my life, I have had various events that contribute to my identity. One of the biggest events that have affected my life is when I had my first seizure. I was around the age of five. It was around 5 at night, and I was at my babysitter s house. That night when we were eating dinner, I know that I didn t like the type of pizza it was because it was supreme. Once I had finished my breadstick, I was going to grab another one. In an instant, my babysitter, Laurie, had slapped my hand. I didn t cry, but it did make me upset because she could have said no. After a couple of minutes, my vision became very blurry, and all I could hear was a ringing noise. My body went numb, and all of a sudden everything went black. When I came to I was on the floor with a throbbing headache. My babysitter had already called my mother, and she was already on her way to the house. • 24. The Fat Boy Analysis The Fat Boy by Owen Marshall is a short story that shows how society in this text influences people and also highlights the mob mentality of the community. The plot of the text is that the townsfolk bring into being a fictional personality The Fat Boy , whom they use as a scapegoat for their crimes. Despite knowing the truththe townsfolk blindly follow the mob, The Fat Boy eventually becomes a reminder of the towns folks conscience, therefore, to get rid of the constant reminder they get rid of The Fat Boy. Hence the text also shows how the loss of conscience affects the community negatively as the whole townchoose to turn a blind eye towards the truth. Through the text Marshall reveals to us the tribal nature of small town behaviour or mob mentality which is shown right from the beginning, where the text shows twisted equality as the townsfolk are following each other in the crimes, the crimes becoming greater as the text proceeds: The Fat Boy is scapegoated for thievery followed by arson, murder, domestic violence, and rape. It is the mentality of he did it so why can t I do it too that the townsfolk use as an excuse to continue committing crimes, which is part of our nature as we tend to follow this mentality too, which shows how the mob has influenced members negatively. As Choi and Meek exemplify, transfers between related business units represent 60 percent of all international trades (Choi amp; Meek, p. 448). Thus, one can start to understand how important it is to define accurate transfer prices. As mentioned, the globalization of markets and the rapid development of communication systems have increased the presence of trades between companies under common control. However, other factors have also helped highlight the subject. Factors like the increase of service provided within MNE s, the continuous trading activity and the use of financial instruments have increased the amount of trade between associated parties. Political forces have also assisted in the development of transfer pricing regulations, especially now during this economic crisis as governments try to increase their income through tax collection. For example, a parent company could pay less income tax in the US by determining a higher transfer price from the product it purchases from its subsidiary located in China. Since China s corporate income tax is 25% and the US tax rate is 35%, this arrangement would generate a higher income at the subsidiary in China and less overall income tax payment for the financial group in question. Nevertheless, such arrangements can be prevented by tax authorities in the US, since according to Section 482 of the Internal Revenue Code the Secretary may distribute, apportion, or allocate gross income, deductions, credits, or ... Every system of the body has a role to play in the well being of the other. The most prevalent disease of the modern age is cancer, and there has been considerable effort to determine the causes of cancer. Substantial research in this regard point to stress being one of the leading causes of cancer. The Impact of Stress on Cancer Cancer, medically called tumorigenesis (Thaker, Lutgendorf, Sood, 2007, p.430) occurs when cells in the body orient themselves for malignant growth. Once a particular set of cells become malignant, the malignancy can spread to other set of cells in different organs due to crosstalk between the affected cells and their surrounding tissues and micro environments (Thaker, Lutgendorf, Sood, 2007, p.430). Current research is focusing on the role of neuropeptides and neurotransmitters in the occurrence of cancer. Injuries are a dangerous thing and also serious thing when it comes to sports and it needs to be taking seriously, if they have never had one before they would not know what if will feel like. It is clear that some sports are good for youths but most sports aren t, since it causes injuries some most sports cause too much pressure. • 41. Security Sector Reform SECURITY SECTOR REFORM Before I proceed, please allow me to give a sincere opinion on Lt Gen Gaudencio S. Pangilinan AFP (Ret) regarding his lecture on Security Sector Reform. These are what I think that makes Gen Pangilinan a good lecturer/speaker. He is a subject matter expert, knows the subject well, and can expand beyond basic concepts readily found in books. He communicates well and is very dedicated in what he is doing. Nothing new about Security Sector Reform (SSR) as we all know that SSR is a concept that was first developed in the 1990s in Eastern Europe. Since it has no fixed definition and no single model of a security sector exists, SSR generally refers to a process to reform or rebuild a state s security sector. In ... In those settings, making people feel safe and secure and (re) building confidence between the State and its people is vital for sustainable peace and development. In different contexts, from Gen Pangilinan s lecture, I was informed that SSR can even prevent conflicts or crises from emerging or resurging and it is also a process that many States undertake on a regular basis to respond to emerging threats or potential internal or external pressures. To conclude, the Philippines has yet to show its true colors but the time will come for the Philippines to rise as a key player regionally and internationally, provided these challenges have been addressed and resolved. For example, the lack of transparency in the security sector. Until today, the Philippines does not have a published national security white paper to inform the public of the government security policy and predicaments. Thus, with regards to the above matter, I have a few recommendations to overcome these challenges, because the Philippines is facing internal armed challenges affecting the good governance of the security sector, the government has to address the structural causes of internal armed conflicts, insurgency, terrorism and political unrests. Therefore, comprehensive structural reforms are imperative for SSR. Structural reforms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Defending Beef By Niman Summary In Defence of livestock Although many researchers believe that our planet s environment and ecosystems are facing many challenges due to livestock production, proponents of livestock production believe that the reason why the our environmental condition has worsened is not that we eat more meat but because we eat less of it. Niman argues that instead of decreasing production, we should focus on producing meat that is more environmentally sound. She also argues that Feed production with all its attendant problems of fossil fuel consumption, soil erosion, greenhouse gases, and chemical pollution can be avoided altogether (Niman, 79). In Defending Beef , she explicitly criticises the FAO s Livestock s Long Shadow and questions certain statements... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many different practises and methods available for livestock production, and ultimately it is the choices that farmers make that determines the production s level of sustainability. The practices of industrial large scale operations like CAFOs result in both environmental damage as well as health concerns for humans and animals. Depletion, pollution and contamination are the biggest obstacles we face when trying to move toward a more sustainable planet. But when livestock is handled responsibly, with consideration for the environment and potential consequences, it is indeed possible to produce livestock that is beneficial for our planet. Organic and grass based farming systems such as silvopastoral systems have been proven to increase biodiversity, reverse soil erosion and counteract water depletion. By encouraging farmers to move towards more sustainable methods like these, we can help curb today s more urgent issues regarding our environment. While there are disagreements between researchers on how to do this, they all agree that we have to take some kind of action to save our planet. Possible ways to achieve this include not consuming meat, or buying meat from local, organic and grass based farmers to ensure the livestock was raised in a responsible way. If more consumers demanded this type of meat, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The blood then goes to the lungs where the deoxygenated blood becomes oxygenated. The blood then goes back to the heart by the left atrium and it then goes into the left ventricle, the left ventricle will give a bigger contraction as it is going to the body. This system is repeated many times. The arteries and veins become bigger so more blood can pass through. Stroke volume and cardiac output will increase. Stroke volume will increase by 170ml. cardiac output will increase by 35L.During the race the respiratory system is working hard to deliver oxygenated blood to the muscles. Gaseous exchange takes place and becomes faster as it is more common during exercise. This will allow more oxygen into the blood stream which will get to the muscles quicker. The inspiration movement becomes harder and faster and this allows more oxygen to be breathed in. Expiration becomes quick during physical activity. • 47. European Werewolf Myth From Shaman to Demon: How the Spread of Christianity Shaped the European Werewolf Myth At the mention of the word werewolf, those familiar with twenty first century literature and television will often conjure the same iconic image in their minds: an unsuspecting victim of a wolf bite that develops a deadly silver allergy and undergoes a peculiar transformation every full moon. The modern myth we have grown to love stems from the medieval picture of a flesh eating wolf man in league with the Devil, which only barely resembles the werewolf stories of a pre Christian Europe. With the spread of Christianity in Europe from the early Medieval Period to the end of the Renaissance, werewolf lore underwent a major transition to better complement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Where does this tradition come from? In chapter 6 of John in the Bible, Jesus told the apostles, I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh (John 6:51, ESV) and Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day (John 6:53 54, ESV). This begs the question: if Christians can eat the flesh of other men, why is it so wrong for werewolves? The answer may lie in the nature of how a werewolf was theorized to obtain his meals. Proposed by Christians who engage in the tradition of the Eucharist as it was practiced during the Middle Ages, cannibalism differs from Communion in the detail that while a cannibal must kill his victim in order to consume his flesh, Jesus does not die when he is consumed during Communion ... • 48. Different Types Of Economics Within The Game Show Industry The business that I have chosen for this project is TV Game Shows. Over the next few pages, I will show different types of economics within the game show industry. Cash prizes are paid by the show, and the money comes from the producers, who are paid by the advertisers/network. There can be a couple of safeguards that make this a little easier for the shows: They can have an insurance policy to protect them from huge losses. For example, the insurance company says, we ve studied the odds of your game, and we ll sell you a policy for $200,000 up front, that pays out full prize money any time someone wins $100,000 or more during this season of the show. Obviously this is all about a smart insurance company who has studied the gameplay and sorted out the odds of how many players will win big, but the point is that the show doesn t have to worry about it. They can let the insurance company work it out, and the show then has a nice fixed cost expense they can reliably drop into their production budget and not think about it. For really big prizes ($1,000,000), shows may pay similar to a lottery, where the money is in a fund that pays over x amount of years, or the winner can take a reduced lump sum immediately. For example, if you were to win $1 million on a show, they might tell you (after the show is done taping) okay! We can give you $50,000 a year for the next 20 years, or we can pay you $450,000 lump sum right now and that s all you get. And of course, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

LGBT Reflection Paper The LGBT community has become highly prominent in the media over the past several years and while it is prominent, society has failed to properly inform the teen youth of today s society about the LGBT community which has resulted in a series of misconceptions. While the youth of today has not been informed the best, Haley and I both being a part of the community, we felt it would be best if we informed the teen youth within our school of the community. And while we did attempt to educate the teen youth within our school and it didn t work out as we originally wanted it to we re still satisfied with the end product that came from the work we put in on this project. While we did work on this project for several months and it came the big responsibility to attempt to help others we did learn some things about ourselves through the process of working on this project. Over the time of the project we learned a lot about the way we manage time, originally we had made plans to accomplish several things like talking to people like Erin Holbert, the Gender and Sexuality Alliance club president, and Mrs. Manlief, the clubs sponsor, along with making a video, etc. Though over time only a couple of the things we had planned got accomplished due to our insufficient time management for the project. When Haley and I got together most of the time to work on the project we usually worked together and it went well when we put our head together to work on the project and we usually made sure ...
